Let R be an associative ring with unit. An element x R is said to be left (right) -regular if there exist y R and a positive integer n such that . If x is both left and right -regular, then it is said to be strongly -regular. R is said to be a strongly -regular ring if all its elements are strongly -regular. In this paper we determine some conditions which are necessary or sufficient for a group ring to be strongly -regular.AMS Subject Classification (1991): 16E50, 16U99  相似文献

Let R be a ring and M a right R-module. M is called -cofinitely supplemented if every submodule N of M with M/N finitely generated has a supplement that is a direct summand of M. In this paper various properties of the -cofinitely supplemented modules are given. It is shown that (1) Arbitrary direct sum of -cofinitely supplemented modules is -cofinitely supplemented. (2) A ring R is semiperfect if and only if every free R-module is -cofinitely supplemented. In addition, if M has the summand sum property, then M is -cofinitely supplemented iff every maximal submodule has a supplement that is a direct summand of M.  相似文献

For a right excellent extension S of a ring R, it is proved that R is right, finitely -CS if and only if S is the same. As an application of this result, a number of examples of group rings which are finitely -CS are presented. This generalizes a result of Jain, et al. [5], where it was shown that F[D] is CS when F is a field of characteristic 2. It is also proved that if R is a commutative domain with 2–1 R and C2 is the cyclic group of order 2, then R[C2] is a CS-ring.2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 16S20, 16D50The research was supported by the NSERC of Canada, grants A8775 and OGP0194196.  相似文献

Let E signify a totally real Abelian number field with a prime power conductor and ring of pintegers R E for a prime p. Let G denote the Galois group of E over the rationals, and let be a padic character of G of order prime to p. Theorem A calculates, under a minor restriction on , the Fitting ideals of H 2 ét(R E;Z p (n/2+1))() over Z p [G](). Here we require that n2 mod 4. These Fitting ideals are principal and generated by a Stickelberger element. This gives a partial verification and also a strong indication of the Coates–Sinnott conjecture.  相似文献

This paper studies the boundary behavior of the so-called SIH-functions, i.e., the functions satisfying the scale invariant Harnack inequality on a domain D RN (N 2). Suppose that D contains a curving-cone at a point D and u is a SIH-function on D. Then u has a curving-shaped limit L at , if u has a -fine limit (especially, a p-fine limit in the sense of [6] or an -fine limit in the sense of the Riesz potential theory [4]) L at .AMS Subject Classification (2000): 31B25, 31C15, 30C65  相似文献

For a ring R and a right R-module M, a submodule N of M is said to be -small in M if, whenever N + X = M with M/X singular, we have X = M. If there exists an epimorphism p: P M such that P is projective and Ker(p) is -small in P, then we say that P is a projective -cover of M. A ring R is called -perfect (resp., -semiperfect, -semiregular) if every R-module (resp., simple R-module, cyclically presented R-module) has a projective -cover. The class of all -perfect (resp., -semiperfect, -semiregular) rings contains properly the class of all right perfect (resp., semiperfect, semiregular) rings. This paper is devoted to various properties and characterizations of -perfect, -semiperfect, and -semiregular rings. We define (R) by (R)/Soc(RR) = Jac(R/Soc(RR)) and show, among others, the following results:
(1) (R) is the largest -small right ideal of R.
(2) R is -semiregular if and only if R/(R) is a von Neumann regular ring and idempotents of R(R) lift to idempotents of R.
(3) R is -semiperfect if and only if R/(R) is a semisimple ring and idempotents of R/(R) lift to idempotents of R.
(4) R is -perfect if and only if R/Soc(RR) is a right perfect ring and idempotents of R/(R) lift to idempotents of R.

Let B denote the unit ball in C n , n1, and let , , and denote the volume measure, gradient, and Laplacian respectively, with respect to the Bergman metric on B. For R and 0<p<, we denote by L p the set of real, or complex-valued measurable functions f on B for which B (1–|z|2)|f(z)| p d(z)<, and by D p the Dirichlet space of C 1 functions f on B for which | f|L p . Also, for C, we denote by X the set of C 2 real, or complex-valued functions f on B for which f=f. The main result of the paper is as follows: Let 0<p< and suppose R with –n 2. Then L p X ={0}, and for 0, D p X ={0}(a) for all n+ when p1, and(b) for all when 0<p<1.By example it is shown that the result is best possible for all values of p with pn/(n+ .  相似文献

For a given class T of compact Hausdorff spaces, let Y(T) denote the class of -groups G such that for each gG, the Yosida space Y(g) of g belongs to T. Conversely, if R is a class of ;-groups, then T(R) stands for the class of all spaces which are homeomorphic to a Y(g) for some gGR. The correspondences TY(T) and RT(R) are examined with regard to several closure properties of classes. Several sections are devoted to radical classes of -groups whose Yosida spaces are zero-dimensional. There is a thorough discussion of hyper-projectable -groups, followed by presentations on Y(e.d.), where e.d. denotes the class of compact extremally disconnected spaces, and, for each regular uncountable cardinal , the class Y(disc), where disc stands for the class of all compact -disconnected spaces. Sample results follow. Every strongly projectable -group lies in Y(e.d.). The -group G lies in Y(e.d.) if and only if for each gG Y(g) is zero-dimensional and the Boolean algebra of components of g, comp(g), is complete. Corresponding results hold for Y(disc). Finally, there is a discussion of Y(F), with F standing for the class of compact F-spaces. It is shown that an Archimedean -group G is in Y(F) if and only if, for each pair of disjoint countably generated polars P and Q, G=P +Q .  相似文献

Two classes of Banach algebras which admit a matrix symbol of order 2 are described, and an explicit form of the symbol is obtained. Also we describe all polynomialsF(X, Y) andF(X, Y, Z) such that the norms of polynomialsF(B, B *) (whenB 2=0) andF(S, W, W * ) (whenS 2 =I, W 2 =0, S *=S) depend only on the polynomialF and on the norms B, W. Applications to Banach algebras generated by singular integral operators and some their perturbations are considered.  相似文献

We consider the M/M/ queue with arrival rate , service rate and traffic intensity =/. We analyze the first passage distribution of the time the number of customers N(t) reaches the level c, starting from N(0)=m>c. If m=c+1 we refer to this time period as the congestion period above the level c. We give detailed asymptotic expansions for the distribution of this first passage time for , various ranges of m and c, and several different time scales. Numerical studies back up the asymptotic results.  相似文献

For a cardinal , we say that a subset B of a space X is C -compact in X if for every continuous function is a compact subset of . If B is a C-compact subset of a space X, then (B, X) denotes the degree of C -compactness of B in X. A space X is called -pseudocompact if X is C -compact into itself. For each cardinal , we give an example of an -pseudocompact space X such that X × X is not pseudocompact: this answers a question posed by T. Retta in Some cardinal generalizations of pseudocompactness Czechoslovak Math. J. 43 (1993), 385–390. The boundedness of the product of two bounded subsets is studied in some particular cases. A version of the classical Glicksberg's Theorem on the pseudocompactness of the product of two spaces is given in the context of boundedness. This theorem is applied to several particular cases.  相似文献

We consider an M/M/ model with m primary servers and infinitely many secondary ones. An arriving customer takes a primary server, if one is available. We derive integral representations for the joint steady state distribution of the number of occupied primary and secondary servers. Letting =/ be the ratio of arrival and service rates (all servers work at rate ), we study the joint distribution asymptotically for . We consider both m=O(1) and m scaled to be of the same order as . We also give results for the marginal distribution of the number of secondary servers that are occupied.  相似文献

We pursue the fine analysis of the quasi-orderings and on the power set of a quasi-ordering (Q,). We set X Y if every xX is majorized in by some yY, and X Y if every yY is minorized in by some xX. We show that both these quasi-orderings are -wqo if and only if the original quasi-ordering is ( )-wqo. For this holds also restricted to finite subsets, thus providing an example of a finitary operation on quasi-orderings which does not preserve wqo but preserves bqo.  相似文献

Exchange Rings with Artinian Primitive Factors   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
We prove that every exchange ring with primitive factors Artinian is clean. Also, it is shown that for exchange rings with Artinian primitive factors, the following are equivalent: (1) Every element in R is a sum of two units. (2) There exist , U(R) such that + = 1. (3) R does not have Z / 2 Z as a homomorphic image. Finally, we prove that exchange ring R is strongly -regular if the Jacobson radical of any homomorphic image of R is T-nilpotent or locally nilpotent. These are generalizations of the corresponding results of A. Badawi, W. D. Burgess and P. Menal, Fisher and Snider, and J. Stock.

LetF:[0, T]×R n 2 R n be a set-valued map with compact values; let :R n R m be a locally Lipschitzian map,z(t) a given trajectory, andR the reachable set atT of the differential inclusion . We prove sufficient conditions for (z(T))intR and establish necessary conditions in maximum principle form for (z(T))(R). As a consequence of these results, we show that every boundary trajectory is simultaneously a Pontryagin extremal, Lagrangian extremal, and relaxed Lagrangian extremal. The author is grateful to an anonymous referee for his valuable remarks and comments which have helped to improve the paper. The paper was written while the author was visiting the laboratory of Prof. S. In the present paper we are concerned with convergence in -density and -statistical convergence of sequences of functions defined on a subset D of real numbers, where is a finitely additive measure. Particularly, we introduce the concepts of -statistical uniform convergence and -statistical pointwise convergence, and observe that -statistical uniform convergence inherits the basic properties of uniform convergence.  相似文献
