The linear poly(ε–caprolacton)‐b‐hyperbrached poly(2‐((α‐bromobutyryl)oxy)ethyl acrylate) (LPCL‐b‐HPBBEA) has been successfully synthesized by simultaneous ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of CL and self‐condensing vinyl polymerization (SCVP) of BBEA in one‐pot. The HPBBEA homopolymers were found to be formed in the polymerization because of the competitive reactions induced by initiation with bifunctional initiator, 2‐hydroxylethyl‐2′‐bromoisobutyrate (HEBiB), and inimer BBEA. The separation of LPCL‐b‐HPBBEA from the polymerization products was achieved by precipitation in methanol. With feed ratio increase of CL and BBEA to HEBiB, the molecular weights of PCL and HPBBEA blocks in the block copolymer enhanced; and the polymerization rate of CL started to decrease gradually after 12 h of polymerization, but the polymerization rate of BBEA was maintained until 24 h of polymerization. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report a one‐pot synthesis of hyperbranched polyglycerols possessing amino functionality by using a novel Boc‐protected aminoethanol glycidyl ether monomer (BAG). A series of hyperbranched Boc‐protected polyamino glycerols (PBAG) were prepared through a one‐pot anionic ring opening multibranching polymerization to yield PBAG with controlled molecular weights (3500–17400 g/mol). Subsequent deprotection of PBAG yielded hyperbranched polyamino glycerols (PAG) with a globular polymeric structure that comprises a randomly branched structure with a large number of functional amine and hydroxyl groups. 1H, 13C, and 15N‐NMR, GPC, and MALDI‐TOF measurements confirmed the successful polymerization of the hyperbranched PAG polymers. With its superior biocompatibility of PAG, we anticipate the prospective potentials for the applications in biological and biomedical fields. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Four families of hyperbranched amphiphilic block copolymers of styrene (Sty, less polar monomer) and 2‐vinylpyridine (2VPy, one of the two more polar monomers) or 4‐vinylpyridine (4VPy, the other polar monomer) were prepared via self‐condensing vinyl reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (SCVP‐RAFT). Two families contained 4VPy as the more polar monomer, one of which possessing a Sty‐b‐4VPy architecture, and the other possessing the reverse block architecture. The other two families bore 2VPy as the more polar monomer and had either a 2VPy‐b‐Sty or a Sty‐b‐2VPy architecture. Characterization of the hyperbranched block copolymers in terms of their molecular weights and compositions indicated better control when the VPy monomers were polymerized first. Control over the molecular weights of the hyperbranched copolymers was also confirmed with the aminolysis of the dithioester moiety at the branching points to produce linear polymers with number‐average molecular weights slightly greater than the theoretically expected ones, due to recombination of the resulting thiol‐terminated linear polymers. The amphiphilicity of the hyperbranched copolymers led to their self‐assembly in selective solvents, which was probed using atomic force microscopy and dynamic light scattering, which indicated the formation of large spherical micelles of uniform diameter. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Graft copolymers consisting of the polyacetal backbone substituted with ? COO? groups and poly(oxyethylene) (POE) side chains in different proportions were synthesized, and their efficiency as modifiers of the processes occurring at the interphase between inorganic particles and the surrounding aqueous phase was studied. The series of double hydrophilic graft copolymers (DHGC) was obtained differing in the length of the main chain, the number of carboxylate groups, and the number of POE side chains in the macromolecule. Studies of the effect of DHGC on the stability of aqueous calcium carbonate (CaCO3) suspensions and on the shape and size of the CaCO3 crystals formed in the presence of DHGC allowed us to draw some conclusions concerning the effect of the structure of DHGC on their efficiency as modifiers of the processes occurring at the interphase between inorganic particles and the surrounding aqueous phase. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Synthesis and characterization of novel hydroxyl‐functionalized oxetane‐inimers with varied alkyl chain length—3‐hydroxymethyl‐3‐methoxymethyloxetane, 3‐hydroxymethyl‐3‐propoxymethyloxetane, and 3‐hexoxymethyl‐3‐hydroxymethyloxetane—is reported. Cationic ring‐opening polymerization of these latent, cyclic AB2‐monomers leads to hyperbranched (hb) polyether polyols with degrees of branching between 34 and 69%, confirmed by inverse‐gated (IG) 13C NMR spectroscopy. The hyperbranching polymerization yielded apparent molecular weights (Mn) ranging from 500 to 2500 g mol?1 (size exclusion chromatography). Remarkably, by copolymerization of 1,1,1‐tris(4‐hydroxyphenyl)ethane as a “focal” unit, polymerization under slow monomer addition conditions lead to higher apparent molecular weights up to 11,220 g mol?1. The end groups of the hb polymers were studied via matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass and NMR spectrometry. By varying the alkyl chain length, tailoring of the solubility and glass transition temperatures of the materials is possible. Potential applications range from macroinitiators with defined polarity to tailoring of surface properties of antifouling materials. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Novel amphiphilic star‐block copolymers, star poly(caprolactone)‐block‐poly[(2‐dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] and poly(caprolactone)‐block‐poly(methacrylic acid), with hyperbranched poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA–OH) as a core moiety were synthesized and characterized. The star‐block copolymers were prepared by a combination of ring‐opening polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). First, hyperbranched PHEMA–OH with 18 hydroxyl end groups on average was used as an initiator for the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone to produce PHEMA–PCL star homopolymers [PHEMA = poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate); PCL = poly(caprolactone)]. Next, the hydroxyl end groups of PHEMA–PCL were converted to 2‐bromoesters, and this gave rise to macroinitiator PHEMA–PCL–Br for ATRP. Then, 2‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate or tert‐butyl methacrylate was polymerized from the macroinitiators, and this afforded the star‐block copolymers PHEMA–PCL–PDMA [PDMA = poly(2‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate)] and PHEMA–PCL–PtBMA [PtBMA = poly(tert‐butyl methacrylate)]. Characterization by gel permeation chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance confirmed the expected molecular structure. The hydrolysis of tert‐butyl ester groups of the poly(tert‐butyl methacrylate) blocks gave the star‐block copolymer PHEMA–PCL–PMAA [PMAA = poly(methacrylic acid)]. These amphiphilic star‐block copolymers could self‐assemble into spherical micelles, as characterized by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel amphiphilic thermosensitive star copolymer with a hydrophobic hyperbranched poly (3‐ethyl‐3‐(hydroxymethyl)oxetane) (HBPO) core and many hydrophilic poly(2‐(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) arms was synthesized and used as the precursor for the aqueous solution self‐assembly. All the copolymers directly aggregated into core–shell unimolecular micelles (around 10 nm) and size‐controllable large multimolecular micelles (around 100 nm) in water at room temperature, according to pyrene probe fluorescence spectrometry and 1H NMR, TEM, and DLS measurements. The star copolymers also underwent sharp, thermosensitive phase transitions at a lower critical solution temperature (LCST), which were proved to be originated from the secondary aggregation of the large micelles driven by increasing hydrophobic interaction due to the dehydration of PDMAEMA shells on heating. A quantitative variable temperature NMR analysis method was designed by using potassium hydrogen phthalate as an external standard and displayed great potential to evaluate the LCST transition at the molecular level. The drug loading and temperature‐dependent release properties of HBPO‐star‐PDMAEMA micelles were also investigated by using indomethacin as a model drug. The indomethacin‐loaded micelles displayed a rapid drug release at a temperature around LCST. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 668–681, 2008  相似文献

Block copolymers with tunable functional groups were obtained through the postfunctionalization of poly(dimethylsiloxane)‐b‐poly(methylvinylsiloxane) diblock copolymers prepared by the anionic ring‐opening polymerization of cyclotrisiloxanes. As the source of the vinyl‐containing segment, 1,3,5‐trimethyl‐1,3,5‐trivinylcyclotrisiloxane was used. The obtained polymers showed high block purity and a narrow molecular weight distribution. The postmodification was carried out with a two‐step procedure: in the first step, epoxide groups were introduced into the diblock copolymer, and in the second step, the ring opening of the latter functionalities was carried out. A variety of different nucleophiles were used for the ring‐opening reaction, and the influence of selected reaction parameters, such as the dilution and the use of monofunctional and difunctional nucleophiles, on the resulting polymers were investigated. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The first synthesis of asymmetric dendritic‐linear‐dendritic ABC block copolymers, that contain a linear B block and dissimilar A and C dendritic fragments is reported. Third generation poly(benzyl ether) monodendrons having benzyl alcohol moiety at their “focal” point were activated by quantitative titration with organometallic anions and the resulting alkoxides were used as initiators in the “living” ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide. The reaction proceeded in controlled fashion at 40–50 °C affording linear‐dendritic AB block copolymers with predictable molecular weights (Mw = 6000–13,000) and narrow molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn = 1.02–1.04). The propagation process was monitored by size‐exclusion chromatography with multiple detection. The resulting “living” copolymers were terminated by reaction either with HCl/tetrahydrofuran or with a reactive monodendron that differed from the initiating dendron not only in size, but also in chemical composition. The asymmetric triblock copolymers follow a peculiar structure‐induced self‐assembly pattern in block‐selective solvents as evidenced by size‐exclusion chromatography in combination with multi‐angle light scattering. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polysiloxane diblock copolymers containing a pure polysiloxane backbone were prepared by the functionalization of poly(dimethylsiloxane)‐b‐poly(methylvinylsiloxane) copolymers. The copolymers were obtained by the sequential anionic copolymerization of either 1,3,5,7‐tetramethyl‐1,3,5,7‐tetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane or 1,3,5‐trimethyl‐1,3,5‐trivinylcyclotrisiloxane with hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane. The two vinyl monomers showed large differences in the propagation rates, but both could be used for the formation of polysiloxane block copolymers. Differences in the polymerization sequences were investigated and revealed that better control was obtained if the slower propagating monomer was polymerized first. The method permitted the synthesis of block copolymers with molecular weight distributions around 1.4 and lower and high block purities. The vinyl groups of the block copolymers were quantitatively and selectively functionalized by hydrosilation or epoxidation reactions. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Branched polystyrene macromonomers were synthesized by the slow addition of a stoichiometric amount of either 4‐(chlorodimethylsilyl)styrene or vinylbenzyl chloride as a coupling agent to living polystyryllithium. Star‐shaped macromonomers were produced by the addition of the coupling agent alone, and hyperbranched macromonomers resulted from the addition of the coupling agent along with styrene monomer. Star and hyperbranched graft copolymers were produced by the copolymerization of the macromonomers with styrene and methyl methacrylate. The copolymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography coupled with multi‐angle laser light scattering, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and Soxhlet extraction to determine that the macromonomers were incorporated in high yields into the copolymers. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The cationic ring‐opening multibranching polymerization of 2‐hydroxymethyloxetane ( 1 ) as a novel latent AB2‐type monomer was carried out using trifluoromethane sulfonic acid or trifluoroboron diethyl etherate by a slow‐monomer‐addition (SMA) method. The polymer yield of poly‐1 ranged from ca. 58–88%, which increase with the increasing monomer addition time on the SMA method. The absolute molecular weights (Mw,MALLS) and the polydispersities of poly‐1 were in the range of 8,000–43,500 and 1.45–4.53, respectively, which also increased with the increasing monomer addition time. The Mark‐Houwink‐Sakurada exponents α in 0.2 M NaNO3 aq. were determined to be 0.02–0.25 for poly‐1 , indicating that poly‐1 has compact forms in the solution because of the highly branched structure. The degree of the branching value of poly‐1 , which was calculated by Frey's equation, ranged from ca. 0.50 to 0.58, which increased with the increasing monomer addition time. The steady shear flow of poly‐1 in aqueous solution exhibited a Newtonian behavior with steady shear viscosities independent of the shear rate. The results of the MALLS, NMR, and viscosity measurements indicated that poly‐1 is composed of a highly branched structure, i.e., the hyperbranched poly (2‐hydroxymethyloxetane). © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined centipede‐like copolymers with poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) as main chain and poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) and polystyrene (PSt) as side chains have been synthesized successfully by combination of ring‐opening polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The synthetic process includes three steps. (1) Synthesis of PGMA via ATRP; (2) preparation of macroinitiator with one bromine group and a hydroxyl group at every GMA unit of PGMA; (3) ring‐opening polymerization of LLA and ATRP of St to obtain the asymmetric centipede‐like copolymers. The number–average degrees of polymerization of PGMA backbone, PLLA and PSt side chains were determined by 1H‐NMR spectra, and the molecular weights of the resultant intermediates and centipede‐like copolymers were measured by gel permeation chromatography. The molecular weight distributions were narrow and the molecular weights of both the backbone and the side chains were controllable. The thermal behavior of the centipede‐like copolymers was investigated by differential scanning calorimeter. With the increase of PSt side chain length, the glass transition temperature of PLLA side chains shifted to high temperature, and crystallization ability of PLLA side chains became poor. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have successfully synthesized a series of redox‐degradable hyperbranched polyglycerols using a disulfide containing monomer, 2‐((2‐(oxiran‐2‐ylmethoxy)ethyl)disulfanyl) ethan‐1‐ol (SSG), to yield PSSG homopolymers and hyperbranched block copolymers, P(G‐b‐SSG) and P(SSG‐b‐G), containing nondegradable glycerol (G) monomers. Using these polymers, we have explored the structures of the hyperbranched block copolymers and their related degradation products. Furthermore, side reaction such as reduction of disulfide bond during the polymerization was investigated by employing the free thiol titration experiments. We elucidated the structures of the degradation products with respect to the architecture of the hyperbranched block copolymer under redox conditions using 1H NMR and GPC measurements. For example, the degradation products of P(G‐b‐SSG) and P(SSG‐b‐G) are clearly different, demonstrating the clear distinction between linear and hyperbranched block copolymers. We anticipate that this study will extend the structural diversity of PG based polymers and aid the understanding of the structures of degradable hyperbranched PG systems. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hyperbranched poly(2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline) was synthesized by a combination of cationic ring‐opening polymerization and the oxidation of thiol to disulfide groups. A three‐arm star poly(2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline) (PEtOx) was first synthesized using 1,3,5‐tris(bromomethyl) benzene as an initiator. The star PEtOx was end‐capped with potassium ethyl xanthate. Similarly, a linear PEtOx was synthesized and end‐capped with potassium ethyl xanthate using benzyl bromide as an initiator. Hyperbranched PEtOx was then obtained by in situ cleaving and subsequent oxidation of the star PEtOx and linear PEtOx mixture with n‐butylamine as both a cleaving agent and a base in tetrahydrofuran. The linear PEtOx was used to prevent the formation of gel. The hyperbranched PEtOx can be cleaved with dithiothreitol to trithiol and monothiol polymer. The hyperbranched PEtOx shows no remaining thiols using Ellman's assay. The resulting hyperbranched PEtOx was hydrolyzed to a novel hyperbranched polyethyleneimine with degradable disulfide linkages. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Poly(n‐butyl acrylate)‐graft‐branched polyethylene was successfully prepared by the combination of two living polymerization techniques. First, a branched polyethylene macromonomer with a methacrylate‐functionalized end group was prepared by Pd‐mediated living olefin polymerization. The macromonomer was then copolymerized with n‐butyl acrylate by atom transfer radical polymerization. Gel permeation chromatography traces of the graft copolymers showed narrow molecular weight distributions indicative of a controlled reaction. At low macromonomer concentrations corresponding to low viscosities, the reactivity ratios of the macromonomer to n‐butyl acrylate were similar to those for methyl methacrylate to n‐butyl acrylate. However, the increased viscosity of the reaction solution resulting from increased macromonomer concentrations caused a lowering of the apparent reactivity ratio of the macromonomer to n‐butyl acrylate, indicating an incompatibility between nonpolar polyethylene segments and a polar poly(n‐butyl acrylate) backbone. The incompatibility was more pronounced in the solid state, exhibiting cylindrical nanoscale morphology as a result of microphase separation, as observed by atomic force microscopy. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Amphiphilic BuO‐(PEO‐stat‐PPO)‐block‐PLA‐OH diblock and MeO‐PEO‐block‐(PEO‐stat‐PPO)‐block‐PLA‐OH triblock copolymers incorporating thermoresponsive poly(ethylene oxide‐stat‐propylene oxide) (PEO‐stat‐PPO) blocks were prepared by ring‐opening polymerization of lactide (LA) initiated by macroinitiators formed from treating BuO‐(PEO‐stat‐PPO)‐OH and MeO‐PEO‐block‐(PEO‐stat‐PPO)‐OH with AlEt3. MeO‐PEO‐block‐(PEO‐stat‐PPO)‐OH was prepared by coupling MeO‐PEO‐OH and HO‐(PEO‐stat‐PPO)‐OH, followed by chromatographic purification. The cloud points of 0.2% aqueous solutions are between 36 and 46 °C for the diblock copolymers that contain a 50 wt % EO thermoresponsive block and 78 °C for the triblock copolymer that contains a 75 wt % EO thermoresponsive block. Variable temperature 1H NMR spectra recorded on D2O solutions of the diblock copolymers display no PLA resonances below the cloud point and fairly sharp PLA resonances above the cloud point, suggesting that desolvation of the thermoresponsive block increases the miscibility of the two blocks. Preliminary characterization of the micelles formed in aqueous solutions of BuO‐(PEO‐stat‐PPO)‐block‐PLA‐OH conducted using laser scanning confocal microscopy and pulsed gradient spin echo NMR point to significant changes in the size of the micellar aggregates as a function of temperature. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of amphiphilic biodegradable and biocompatible poly(p‐dioxanone)‐grafted poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) copolymers with well‐defined structure were obtained by a three‐step synthesis based on the “grafting from” concept. The first step (protection step), called the partial silylation of PVA hydroxyl groups, was accomplished by 1,1,1,3,3,3‐hexamethyldisilazane and catalyst chlorotrimethylsilane in dimethyl sulfoxide using THF as cosolvent. The second step was the ring‐opening polymerization of p‐dioxanone (PDO) initiated from the remaining OH groups of the partially silylated PVA. Finally, a deprotection step was followed: the silylether group was deprotected easily under very mild conditions. The synthetic conditions of the first two steps were investigated, and the structures of polymers formed in each step were characterized by various analytical methods. The results showed that the molecular structure of the PVA‐g‐PPDO could be controlled easily by the degree of silylation and the feed ratio. In addition, the micellization of amphiphilic PVA‐g‐PPDO copolymers in water was proved by fluorescence spectra and dynamic light scattering, and the relationship between structural parameters of copolymers and micellar properties was studied preliminarily. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Block copolymers of hyperbranched polyethylene (PE) and linear polystyrene (PS) or poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) with hyperbranched PE macroinitiators. The PE macroinitiators were synthesized through a “living” polymerization of ethylene catalyzed with a Pd‐diimine catalyst and end‐capped with 4‐chloromethyl styrene as a chain quenching agent in one step. The macroinitiator and block copolymer samples were characterized by gel permeation chromatography, 1H and 13C NMR, and differential scanning calorimetry. The hyperbranched PE chains had narrow molecular weight distribution and contained a single terminal benzyl chloride per chain. Both hyperbranched PE and linear PS or PMMA blocks had well‐controlled molecular weights. Slow initiation was observed in ATRP because of steric effect of hyperbranched structures, resulting in slightly broad polydispersity index in the block copolymers. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
