Tau lepton decays with open strangeness in the final state are measured with the OPAL detector at LEP to determine the strange hadronic spectral function of the
lepton. The decays
,
and
with final states consisting of neutral and charged kaons and pions have been studied. The invariant mass distributions of
of these final states have been experimentally determined. Monte Carlo simulations have been used for the remaining
and for the strange final states including
mesons. The reconstructed strange final states, corrected for resolution effects and detection efficiencies, yield the strange spectral function of the
lepton. The moments of the spectral function and the ratio of strange to non-strange moments, which are important input parameters for theoretical analyses, are determined. Furthermore, the branching fractions
and
have been measured.Received: 18 February 2004, Revised: 30 April 2004, Published online: 15 June 2004 相似文献

The Standard Model constraints on
which can be derived from the
decays are revisited in some depth. As experimental inputs, the
,
decays complemented by the
decays, the CP parameters
and
, and/or the value of
as determined by the global CKM fit are used. The constraints discussed here are model independent in the sense that they rely only on Isospin symmetry, following the Gronau-London proposal. A new bound on
and the function
are introduced. While another bound applied to BABAR results is shown to imply that
is negative. The Grossman-Quinn bound is rediscussed. A close form expression is given for
as a function of the measurements. Various scenarios for the future of the isospin analysis are explored. To probe the Standard Model the
plane is introduced.Received: 17 December 2004, Published online: 25 January 2005 相似文献

Measurements of the time-dependent CP-asymmetry in the decay

The anomalous weak dipole moments of the

A study of Z-boson pair production in e + e- annihilation at center-of-mass energies between 190 GeV and 209 GeV is reported. Final states containing only leptons, (
and
), quark and lepton pairs, (
,
) and only hadrons (
) are considered. In all states with at least one Z boson decaying hadronically, lifetime, lepton and event-shape tags are used to separate
pairs from
final states. Limits on anomalous ZZ
and ZZZ couplings are derived from the measured cross sections and from event kinematics using an optimal observable method. Limits on low scale gravity with large extra dimensions are derived from the cross sections and their dependence on polar angle.Received: 14 July 2003, Published online: 18 December 2003 相似文献

In this paper, preliminary results are presented on high

. Photons from the decay
are detected in the Barrel Electromagnetic Calorimeter of the STAR experiment at RHIC. The analysis of this first BEMC hadron
measurement is described in detail. The results are compared to earlier RHIC findings. Furthermore, the obtained
invariant differential cross sections show good agreement with next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD calculations.

Data collected at LEP at centre-of-mass energies

events. Spin correlations are favoured by data, and found to agree with the Standard Model predictions. In addition, correlations between the W-boson decay planes are studied in

We discuss the time-dependent CP asymmetry of the decay
in an extension of the standard model with both a two Higgs doublet and additional fourth-generation quarks. We show that, although the standard model with a two Higgs doublet and the standard model with fourth-generation quarks alone are not likely to largely change the effective
from the decay
, the model with both an additional Higgs doublet and fourth-generation quarks can easily account for the possible large negative value of
without conflicting with other experimental constraints. In this model, additional large CP violating effects may arise from the flavor-changing Yukawa interactions between neutral Higgs bosons and the heavy fourth-generation down type quark, which can modify the QCD penguin contributions. With the constraints obtained from
processes such as

We investigate the physics potential of the annihilation decays
in the standard model and beyond. In a naive factorization approach, the branching ratios are estimated to be
and
. In the framework of QCD factorization, we compute the non-factorizable corrections and get
,
. Future measurements of these decays would be useful for testing the factorization frameworks. The smallness of these decays in the SM makes them sensitive probes of new physics. As an example, we will consider the possible admixture of the (V + A) charge current to the standard (V-A) current. This admixture will give a significant contribution to the decays.Received: 29 August 2003, Revised: 17 January 2004, Published online: 19 March 2004Corresponding author: Y.D. Yang 相似文献

A search for pair-produced charged Higgs bosons was performed in the data collected by the DELPHI detector at LEP II at centre-of-mass energies from 189 GeV to 209 GeV. Five different final states,
,
,
,
and
were considered, accounting for the major expected decays in type I and type II Two Higgs Doublet Models. No significant excess of data compared to the expected Standard Model processes was observed. The existence of a charged Higgs boson with mass lower than 76.7 GeV/c2 (type I) or 74.4 GeV/c2 (type II) is excluded at the 95% confidence level, for a wide range of the model parameters. Model independent cross-section limits have also been calculated.Received: 30 September 2003, Revised: 12 February 2004, Published online: 8 April 2004 相似文献

We examine the decay modes
within the context of the hidden local symmetry (HLS) model. Using numerical information derived in previous fits to the
and Ve

e
- decay modes in isolation and the
lineshape determined in a previous fit to the pion form factor, we show that all aspects of these decays can be predicted with fair accuracy. Freeing some parameters does not improve the picture. This is interpreted as strong evidence in favor of the box anomaly in the
decays, which occurs at precisely the level expected. We also construct the set of equations defining the amplitudes for
and
at the chiral limit, as predicted from the anomalous HLS Lagrangian appropriately broken. This provides a set of four equations depending on only one parameter, instead of three for the traditional set. This is also shown to match the (two-angle, two-decay-constant)

mixing scheme recently proposed and is also fairly well fulfilled by the data. The information returned from the fits also matches expectations from previously published fits to the
decay modes in isolation.Received: 29 June 2003, Revised: 17 September 2003, Published online: 4 November 2003 相似文献

In the SUSY SO(10) GUT context, we study the exclusive processes
. Using the Wilson coefficients of the relevant operators including the new operators
which are induced by neutral Higgs boson (NHB) penguins, we evaluate some possible observables associated with these processes like the invariant mass spectrum (IMS), lepton pair forward-backward asymmetry (FBA), lepton polarization asymmetries etc. In this model the contributions from Wilson coefficients

We analyze the pion electromagnetic, charged-current, and
transition form factors at timelike momentum transfers q,
GeV2, using a dispersion approach. We discuss in detail the propagator matrix of the photon-vector meson system and define certain reduced amplitudes, or vertex functions, describing the coupling of this system to final states. We then apply the derived analytic expressions to the analysis of the recent

data. We find the reduced amplitudes for the coupling of the photon and vector mesons to two pseudoscalars to be constant, independent of s, in the range considered, indicating a freezing of the amplitudes for
GeV. The fit to the form factor data leads to the following values of the Breit-Wigner resonance masses

We present an analysis of the longitudinal
polarization in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. The polarization of
s coming from the decay chain
exhibits a very well differentiated behavior depending on the production region of the primordial
s. This effect reflects the different values of the
ratio in the QGP region, where nucleon-nucleon interactions take place in a hot and dense environment, and the peripherical region, in which ordinary nucleon-nucleon interactions occur. An increase in the longitudinal
polarization signals a strangeness enhancement which is thought of as a property of the QGP phase.Received: 21 September 2004, Revised: 25 October 2004, Published online: 17 December 2004 相似文献
