We consider certain examples of applications of the general methods based on geometry and integrability of matrix models. These methods were described in the first part of this paper. In particular, we investigate the nonlinear differential equations satisfied by semiclassical tau functions. We also discuss a similar semiclassical geometric picture arising in the context of multidimensional supersymmetric gauge theories and the AdS/CFT correspondence. We consider the simplest gauge theories given by one-and two-matrix integrals and concentrate on their stringy and geometric properties. We recall the general integrable structure behind the matrix integrals and turn to the geometric properties of planar matrix models, demonstrating that they are universally described in terms of integrable systems directly related to the theory of complex curves. We study the main ingredients of this geometric picture, suggesting that it can be generalized beyond one complex dimension, and formulate them in terms of semiclassical integrable systems solved by constructing tau functions or prepotentials. We discuss the complex curves and tau functions of one-and two-matrix models in detail. [This article was written at the request of the Editorial Board. The W-algebra minimal models on hyperelliptic Riemann surfaces are constructed. Using a proposal by Polyakov, we reduce the partition function of the Toda field theory on the hyperelliptic surface to a product of partition functions: one of a free field theory on the sphere with inserted Toda vertex operators and one of a free scalar field theory with antiperiodic boundary conditions with inserted twist fields.  相似文献

We use the Jacobi method to construct various integrable systems, such as the Stäckel systems and Toda chains, related to various root systems. We find canonical transformations that relate integrals of motion for the generalized open Toda chains of types B n, C n, and D n.  相似文献

We study the maximal commutative ring of partial differential operators which includes the quantum completely integrable system defined by the quantum Toda lattice. Kostant shows that the image of the generalized Harish-Chandra homomorphism of the center of the enveloping algebra is commutative (Kostant in Invent. Math. 48:101–184, 1978). We demonstrate the commutativity of the ring of partial differential operators whose principal symbols are -invariant. Our commutative ring includes the commutative system of Kostant (Invent. Math. 48:101–184, 1978). The main tools in this paper are Fourier integral operators and Radon transforms.   相似文献

We use p-component fermions, p = 2, 3,..., to represent (2p−2)N-fold integrals as a fermionic vacuum expectation. This yields a fermionic representation for various (2p−2)-matrix models. We discuss links with the p-component Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy and also with the p-component Toda lattice hierarchy. We show that the set of all but two flows of the p-component Toda lattice hierarchy changes standard matrix models to new ones. We discuss the semiclassical geometry and integrable systems related to the gauge—string duality. We analyze semiclassical solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations arising in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence, comparing them to stationary phase equations for the matrix integrals. In this research, the lump solution, which is rationally localized and decays along the directions of space variables, of a 2D Toda equation is studied. The effective method of constructing the lump solutions of this 2D Toda equation is derived, and the constraint conditions that make the lump solutions analytical and positive are obtained as well. Finally, three classes of lump solutions are constructed, 3D plots, density plots, and contour plots are given to illustrate this proposed method.  相似文献

Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian surfaces are Lagrangian surfacesin a four-dimensional Kähler manifold which are criticalpoints of the area functional for Hamiltonian infinitesimaldeformations. In this paper we analyze these surfaces in thecomplex projective plane: in a previous work we showed thatthey correspond locally to solutions to an integrable system,formulated as a zero curvature on a (twisted) loop group. By exhibiting the corresponding Lax-pair representations, we propose a wide class of integrable two-dimensional (2D) fermionic Toda lattice (TL) hierarchies, which includes the 2D N=(2|2) and N=(0|2) supersymmetric TL hierarchies as particular cases. We develop the generalized graded R-matrix formalism using the generalized graded bracket on the space of graded operators with involution generalizing the graded commutator in superalgebras, which allows describing these hierarchies in the framework of the Hamiltonian formalism and constructing their first two Hamiltonian structures. We discuss relations between the theory of orthogonal polynomials, Hankel determinants, and the unrestricted one-dimensional Toda chain. In particular, we show that the equations of motion for the Toda chain are equivalent to a Riccati equation for the Stieltjes function. The Neumann system on the two-dimensional sphere is used as a tool to convey some ideas on the bi-Hamiltonian standpoint on separation of variables. We show that from this standpoint, its separation coordinates and its integrals of motion can be found systematically.  相似文献
