Synthesis of 4,5-decamethyleneimidazole, 4,5-decamethyleneoxazole, 4,5-decamethyleneisoxazole, 4,5-decamethyleneimidazolone-2, and 4,5-decamethylenepyrazole from cyclododecanone derivatives

4,5-Decamethyleneimidazole, 4,5-decamethyleneoxazole, and 4,5-decamethyleneimidazolone-2 were synthesized by reactions of 2-bromocyclododecanone and 2-hydroxycyclododecanone with formamide, ammonium formate, and urea, respectively. Condensation of 2-formylcyclododecanone with hydroxylamine and hydrazine hydrate resulted in 4,5-decamethyleneisoxazole, and 4,5-decamethylenepyrazole, respectively.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis of 2-amino-4,5-disubstituted 3,5-dicyano-4,5-dihydrofurans

Phototransformations of 4,5-diphenylisoxazole

Sunlight photolysis of 4,5-diphenylisoxazole (1) in methanol sensitized by benzophenone gives 4,4′,5,5′-tetraphenyl-2,2′-bioxazole, (4). On irradiation at 350nm in acetone or at 253.7 nm in absolute alcohol, isoxazole (1) yields α-benzoylphenylacetonitrile (6) besides the expected phenanthro [9,10-d]-oxazole (5). The bioxazole and the ketonitrile have been identified by single crystal X-ray studies.

Synthesis of 4,5-dihydroxyphthalonitrile

4,5-Dihydroxyphthalonitrile was synthesized from pyrocatechol in a simple way. The compound obtained is a convenient starting reagent for the preparation of 4,5-dialkoxyphthalonitriles.     

Reactions of 4,5-diaminouracils

Reactions of 4,5-diaminopyrimidines with various phthalic derivatives, depending on the conditions employed, led to pyrimidines with a 5-N-substituted phthalamic acid (III), 5-N-substituted phthalimide (II) and 4,5-bis-N-substituted phthalimide (VI).     

5-Bromomethyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles

The preparation of substituted 4,5-dihydroisoxazoles can be accomplished via the treatment of β,γ-unsaturated oximes with liquid bromine. The reaction provides a convenient route to the highly functionalized title compounds.     

Synthesis of 4,5-dihydroxybenzofurans and 4,5-dihydroxyindoles by dehalogenation of halo derivatives

A preparative method for the synthesis of derivatives of 4,5-dihydroxybenzofuran and 4,5-dihydroxyindole by dehalogenation of 4,5-dihydroxy-6-chloro(or bromo) and 4,5-dihydroxy-6,7-dichloro derivatives of benzofuran and indole with heating in aqueous ethanol over Raney nickel has been proposed.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 10, pp. 1322–1324.     

v-triazolines. XI . Rearrangement of 1-aryl-4,5-diamino-4,5-dihydro-v-triazoles

The reaction of arylazides with 1,2-diaminoethylenes ( 1a-b ) or α,β-diaminostyrenes ( 1c-f ) gave N-(1,2-diaminoethylideneanilines ( 2a-e ) and N-(1,2-diamino-2-phenylethylidene)anilines ( 2g-i ), respectively. These amidine derivatives are formed through the rearrangement of unstable 1-aryl-4,5-diamino-v-triazolines. The regiospecificity of the cycloaddition reaction has been elucidated on the basis of the products obtained.     

4,5-Benzo-1,3,2-thiazaphospholanes

Conclusions 2-Substituted 3-methyl-4,5-benzo-l,3,2-thiazaphospholanes were obtained in high yields by the reaction of N-methyl-o-aminothiophenol with phosphorous acid di- and triamides.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 12, pp. 2837–2839, December, 1976.
