This paper analyzes the double Neimark–Sacker bifurcation occurring in a two-DoF system, subject to PD digital position control. In the model the control force is considered piecewise constant. Introducing a nonlinearity related to the saturation of the control force, the bifurcations occurring in the system are analyzed. The system is generally losing stability through Neimark–Sacker bifurcations, with relatively simple dynamics. However, the interaction of two different Neimark–Sacker bifurcations steers the system to much more complicated behavior. Our analysis is carried out using the method proposed by Kuznetsov and Meijer. It consists of reducing the dynamics of the nonlinear map to its local center manifold, eliminating the non-internally resonant nonlinear terms and transforming the nonlinear map to an amplitude map, that describes the local dynamics of the system. The analysis of this amplitude map allows us to define regions, in the space of the control gains, with a close interaction of the two bifurcations, which generates unstable quasiperiodic motion on a 3-torus, coexisting with two stable 2-torus quasiperiodic motions. Other regions in the space of the control gains show the coexistence of 2-torus quasiperiodic solutions, one stable and the other unstable. All the results described in this work are analytical and obtained in closed form, numerical simulations illustrate and confirm the analytical results.  相似文献

This paper studies the dynamics of a maglev system around 1:3 resonant Hopf–Hopf bifurcations. When two pairs of purely imaginary roots exist for the corresponding characteristic equation, the maglev system has an interaction of Hopf–Hopf bifurcations at the intersection of two bifurcation curves in the feedback control parameter and time delay space. The method of multiple time scales is employed to drive the bifurcation equations for the maglev system by expressing complex amplitudes in a combined polar-Cartesian representation. The dynamics behavior in the vicinity of 1:3 resonant Hopf–Hopf bifurcations is studied in terms of the controller’s parameters (time delay and two feedback control gains). Finally, numerical simulations are presented to support the analytical results and demonstrate some interesting phenomena for the maglev system.  相似文献

Semi-analytical and semi-numerical method is used to investigate the global bifurcations and chaos in the nonlinear system of a Van der Pol-Duffing-Mathieu oscillator. Semi-analytical and semi-numerical method means that the autonomous system, called Van der Pol-Duffing system, is analytically studied to draw all global bifurcations diagrams in parameter space. These diagrams are called basic bifurcation diagrams. Then fixing parameter in every space and taking parametrically excited amplitude as a bifurcation parameter, we can observe the evolution from a basic bifurcation diagram to chaotic pattern by numerical methods. In this paper, the feedback linearization scheme is applied to the control of vehicle’s lateral dynamics. Based on the assumption of constant driving speed, a second-order nonlinear lateral dynamical model is adopted for controller design. It was observed in (Liaw, D.C., Chung, W.-C. in 2006 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2006) that the saddle-node bifurcation would appear in vehicle dynamics with respect to the variation of the front wheel steering angle, which might result in spin and/or system instability. The vehicle dynamics at the saddle node bifurcation point is derived and then decomposed as an affine nominal model plus the remaining term of the overall system dynamics. Feedback linearization scheme is employed to construct the stabilizing control laws for the nominal model. The stability of the overall vehicle dynamics at the saddle-node bifurcation is then guaranteed by applying Lyapunov stability criteria. Since the remaining term of the vehicle dynamics contains the steering control input, which might change system equilibrium except the designed one. Parametric analysis of system equilibrium for an example vehicle model is also obtained to classify the regime of control gains for potential behavior of vehicle’s dynamical behavior.  相似文献

A piecewise-linear model with a single degree of freedom is derived from first principles for a driven vertical cantilever beam with a localized mass and symmetric stops. The aim is to show that this model constitutes a considerable step toward developing a vibro-impact model that is able to make qualitative and quantitative predictions of the observed dynamics. The resulting piecewise-linear dynamical system is smoothed by a switching function (nonlinear homotopy). For the chosen smoothing function, it is shown that the smoothing can induce bifurcations in certain parameter regimes. These induced bifurcations disappear when the transition of the switching is sufficiently and increasingly localized as the impact becomes harder. The bifurcation structure of the impact oscillator response is investigated via the one- and two-parameter continuation of periodic orbits in the driving frequency and/or forcing amplitude. The results are in good agreement with experimental measurements.  相似文献

The weakly nonlinear resonant response of an orthogonal double pendulum to planar harmonic motions of the point of suspension is investigated. The two pendulums in the double pendulum are confined to two orthogonal planes. For nearly equal length of the two pendulums, the system exhibits 1:1 internal resonance. The method of averaging is used to derive a set of four first order autonomous differential equations in the amplitude and phase variables. Constant solutions of the amplitude and phase equations are studied as a function of physical parameters of interest using the local bifurcation theory. It is shown that, for excitation restricted in either plane, there may be as many as six pitchfork bifurcation points at which the nonplanar solutions bifurcate from the planar solutions. These nonplanar motions can become unstable by a saddle-node or a Hopf bifurcation, giving rise to a new branch of constant solutions or limit cycle solutions, respectively. The dynamics of the amplitude equations in parameter regions of the Hopf bifurcations is then explored using direct numerical integration. The results indicate a complicated amplitude dynamics including multiple limit cycle solutions, period-doubling route to chaos, and sudden disappearance of chaotic attractors.  相似文献

A weakly nonlinear oscillator is modeled by a differential equation. A superharmonic resonance system can have a saddle-node bifurcation, with a jumping transition from one state to another. To control the jumping phenomena and the unstable region of the nonlinear oscillator, a combination of feedback controllers is designed. Bifurcation control equations are derived by using the method of multiple scales. Furthermore, by performing numerical simulations and by comparing the responses of the uncontrolled system and the controlled system, we clarify that a good controller can be obtained by changing the feedback control gain. Also, it is found that the linear feedback gain can delay the occurrence of saddle-node bifurcations, while the nonlinear feedback gain can eliminate saddle-node bifurcations. Feasible ways of further research of saddle-node bifurcations are provided. Finally, we show that an appropriate nonlinear feedback control gain can suppress the amplitude of the steady-state response.  相似文献

We investigate the control of friction-induced vibrations in a system with a dynamic friction model which accounts for hysteresis in the friction characteristics. Linear time-delayed position feedback applied in a direction normal to the contacting surfaces has been employed for the purpose. Analysis shows that the uncontrolled system loses stability via. a subcritical Hopf bifurcation making it prone to large amplitude vibrations near the stability boundary. Our results show that the controller achieves the dual objective of quenching the vibrations as well as changing the nature of the bifurcation from subcritical to supercritical. Consequently, the controlled system is globally stable in the linearly stable region and yields small amplitude vibrations if the stability boundary is crossed due to changes in operating conditions or system parameters. Criticality curve separating regions on the stability surface corresponding to subcritical and supercritical bifurcations is obtained analytically using the method of multiple scales (MMS). We have also identified a set of control parameters for which the system is stable for lower and higher relative velocities but vibrates for the intermediate ones. However, the bifurcation is always supercritical for these parameters resulting in low amplitude vibrations only.  相似文献

The critical and post-critical behavior of a non-conservative non-linear structure, undergoing statical and dynamical bifurcations, is analyzed. The system consists of a purely flexible planar beam, equipped with a lumped visco-elastic device, loaded by a follower force. A unique integro-differential equation of motion in the transversal displacement, with relevant boundary conditions, is derived. Then, the linear stability diagram of the trivial rectilinear configuration is built-up in the parameter space. Particular emphasis is given to the role of the damping on the critical scenario. The occurrence of different mechanisms of instability is highlighted, namely, of divergence, Hopf, double zero, resonant and non-resonant double Hopf, and divergence-Hopf bifurcation. Attention is then focused on the two latter (codimension-two) bifurcations. A multiple scale analysis is carried-out directly on the continuous model, and the relevant non-linear bifurcation equations in the amplitudes of the two interactive modes are derived. The fixed-points of these equations are numerically evaluated as functions of two bifurcation parameters and some equilibrium paths illustrated. Finally, the bifurcation diagrams, illustrating the system behavior around the critical points of the parameter space, are obtained.  相似文献

Local and global bifurcations in the motion of a double pendulum subjected to a follower force have been studied when the follower force and the springs at the joints have structural asymmetries. The bifurcations of the system are examined in the neighborhood of double zero eigenvalues. Applying the center manifold and the normal form theorem to a four-dimensional governing equation, we finally obtain a two-dimensional equation with three unfolding parameters. The local bifurcation boundaries can be obtained for the criteria for the pitchfork and the Hopf bifurcation. The Melnikov theorem is used to find the global bifurcation boundaries for appearance of a homoclinic orbit and coalescence of two limit cycles. Numerical simulation was performed using the original four-dimensional equation to confirm the analytical prediction.  相似文献

In this research, we offer eigenvalue analysis and path following continuation to describe the impact, stick, and non-stick between the particle and boundaries to understand the nonlinear dynamics of an extended Fermi oscillator. The principles of discontinuous dynamical systems will be utilized to explain the moving process in such an extended Fermi oscillator. The motion complexity and stick mechanism of such an oscillator are demonstrated using periodic and chaotic motions. The major parameters are the frequency, amplitude in periodic excitation force, and the gap between the top and bottom boundary. We employ path-following analysis to illustrate the bifurcations that lead to solution destabilization. We present the evolution of the period solutions of the extended Fermi oscillator as the parameter varies. From the viewpoint of eigenvalue analysis, the essence of period-doubling, saddle-node, and Torus bifurcation is revealed. Numerical continuation methods are used to do a complete one- and two-parameter bifurcation analysis of the extended Fermi oscillator. The presence of codimension-one bifurcations of limit cycles, such as saddle-node, period-doubling, and Torus bifurcations, is shown in this work. Bifurcations cause all solutions to lose stability, according to our findings. The acquired results provide a better understanding of the extended Fermi oscillator mechanism and demonstrate that we may control the system dynamics by modifying the parameters.

This work concerns the nonlinear normal modes (NNMs) of a 2 degree-of-freedom autonomous conservative spring–mass–pendulum system, a system that exhibits inertial coupling between the two generalized coordinates and quadratic (even) nonlinearities. Several general methods introduced in the literature to calculate the NNMs of conservative systems are reviewed, and then applied to the spring–mass–pendulum system. These include the invariant manifold method, the multiple scales method, the asymptotic perturbation method and the method of harmonic balance. Then, an efficient numerical methodology is developed to calculate the exact NNMs, and this method is further used to analyze and follow the bifurcations of the NNMs as a function of linear frequency ratio p and total energy h. The bifurcations in NNMs, when near 1:2 and 1:1 resonances arise in the two linear modes, is investigated by perturbation techniques and the results are compared with those predicted by the exact numerical solutions. By using the method of multiple time scales (MTS), not only the bifurcation diagrams but also the low energy global dynamics of the system is obtained. The numerical method gives reliable results for the high-energy case. These bifurcation analyses provide a significant glimpse into the complex dynamics of the system. It is shown that when the total energy is sufficiently high, varying p, the ratio of the spring and the pendulum linear frequencies, results in the system undergoing an order–chaos–order sequence. This phenomenon is also presented and discussed.  相似文献

The global bifurcations and chaotic dynamics of a thin rectangular plate on a nonlinear elastic foundation subjected to a harmonic excitation are investigated. On the basis of the amplitude and phase modulation equations derived by the method of multiple scales, a near integrable two-degree-of-freedom Hamiltonian system is obtained by a transformation. The energy-phase method proposed by Haller and Wiggins is employed to analyze the global bifurcations for the thin rectangular plate. The results obtained here indicate that there exist the Silnikov-type multi-pulse orbits homoclinic to certain invariant sets for the resonant case, which implies that chaotic motions may occur for this class of systems. Homoclinic trees which describe the repeated bifurcations of multi-pulse solutions are found. To illustrate the theoretical predictions, we present visualizations of these complicated structures and numerical evidence of chaotic motions.  相似文献

The global bifurcation and chaos are investigated in this paper for a van der Pol-Duff-ing-Mathieu system with a single-well potential oscillator by means of nonlinear dynamics. The au-tonomous system corresponding to the system under discussion is analytically studied to draw all globalbifureation diagrams in every parameter space, These diagrams are called basic bifurcation ones. Thenfixing parameter in every space and taking the parametrically excited amplitude as a bifurcation param-eter, we can observe how to evolve from a basic bifurcation diagram to a chaos pattern in terms of nu-merical methods. The results are sufficient to show that the system has distinct dynamic behavior, Fi-nally, the properties of the basins of attraction are observed and the appearance of fractal basin bound-aries heralding the onset of a loss of structural integrity is noted in order to consider how to control theextent and the rate of the erosion in the next paper.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the nonlinear dynamics of a cantilever elastic pipe that contains pulsatile flow. The equation of motion was derived by using Hamiltonian action function. We use Galerkin's technique to include only finite number of spatial modes in the solution. The stability chart of the time-varying system was computed in the space of the relative perturbation amplitude of the flow velocity and dimensionless forcing frequency using an efficient numerical method based on Chebyshev polynomials. In the near of some critical regions bifurcation diagrams were also computed which show secondary Hopf bifurcations and phase locking followed by chaotic motion.  相似文献

Controlling the inverted pendulum by means of a nested saturation function   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A nonlinear controller is presented for the stabilization of the underactuated inverted pendulum mounted on a cart. The fact that this system can be expressed as a chain of integrators, with an additionally nonlinear perturbation, allows us to use a nested saturation control technique to bring the pendulum to the top position, with zero displacement of the cart. The obtained closed-loop system is semiglobal, asymptotically stable, and locally exponentially stable, under the assumption that the position of the angle is initialized above the upper half plane.  相似文献

Considering Peierls-Nabarro (P-N) force and viscous effect of material, the dynamic behavior of one-dimensional infinite metallic thin bar subjected to axially periodic load is investigated. Governing equation, which is sine-Gordon type equation, is derived. By means of collective-coordinates, the partial equation can be reduced to ordinary differential dynamical system to describe motion of breather. Nonlinear dynamic analysis shows that the amplitude and frequency of P-N force would influence positions of hyperbolic saddle points and change subharmonic bifurcation point, while the path to chaos through odd subharmonic bifurcations remains. Several examples are taken to indicate the effects of amplitude and period of P-N force on the dynamical response of the bar. The simulation states that the area of chaos is half-infinite. This area increases along with enhancement of the amplitude of P-N force. And the frequency of P-N force has similar influence on the system.  相似文献

It is a significant issue to control bifurcation because many neuronal diseases have close relevance to bifurcation of neuron system. Some studies have been done on bifurcation control in the Hodgkin–Huxley (HH) model, but there is no clear mathematical criterion for bifurcation stabilization. In this paper, according to Routh–Hurwitz stability criterion, we employ linear control term of washout filter-aided dynamic feedback controller to stabilize bifurcation of the HH model. As a result, we can deduce linear control gain based on the criterion, and simulation shows the method is effective for making the HH model stable. The controller designs described here are achieved by electrical stimulus, so it may have potential applications in the diagnosis and therapy of dynamical diseases.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamics of a simple pendulum coupled to a horizontal mass?Cspring system. The spring is assumed to have a very large stiffness value such that the natural frequency of the mass?Cspring oscillator, when uncoupled from the pendulum, is an order of magnitude larger than that of the oscillations of the pendulum. The leading order dynamics of the autonomous coupled system is studied using the method of Direct Partition of Motion (DPM), in conjunction with a rescaling of fast time in a manner that is inspired by the WKB method. We particularly study the motions in which the amplitude of the motion of the harmonic oscillator is an order of magnitude smaller than that of the pendulum. In this regime, a pitchfork bifurcation of periodic orbits is found to occur for energy values larger that a critical value. The bifurcation gives rise to nonlocal periodic and quasi-periodic orbits in which the pendulum oscillates about an angle between zero and ??/2 from the down right position. The bifurcating periodic orbits are nonlinear normal modes of the coupled system and correspond to fixed points of a Poincare map. An approximate expression for the value of the new fixed points of the map is obtained. These formal analytic results are confirmed by comparison with numerical integration.  相似文献
