This paper studies a Sparre Andersen model in which the inter-claim times are generalized Erlang(n) distributed. We assume that the premium rate is a step function depending on the current surplus level. A piecewise integro-differential equation for the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty function is derived and solved. Finally, to illustrate the solution procedure, explicit expression for the Laplace transform of the time to ruin is given when the inter-claim times are generalized Erlang(2) distributed and the claim amounts are exponentially distributed.  相似文献

We modify the compound Poisson surplus model for an insurer by including liquid reserves and interest on the surplus. When the surplus of an insurer is below a fixed level, the surplus is kept as liquid reserves, which do not earn interest. When the surplus attains the level, the excess of the surplus over the level will receive interest at a constant rate. If the level goes to infinity, the modified model is reduced to the classical compound Poisson risk model. If the level is set to zero, the modified model becomes the compound Poisson risk model with interest. We study ruin probability and other quantities related to ruin in the modified compound Poisson surplus model by the Gerber–Shiu function and discuss the impact of interest and liquid reserves on the ruin probability, the deficit at ruin, and other ruin quantities. First, we derive a system of integro-differential equations for the Gerber–Shiu function. By solving the system of equations, we obtain the general solution for the Gerber–Shiu function. Then, we give the exact solutions for the Gerber–Shiu function when the initial surplus is equal to the liquid reserve level or equal to zero. These solutions are the key to the exact solution for the Gerber–Shiu function in general cases. As applications, we derive the exact solution for the zero discounted Gerber–Shiu function when claim sizes are exponentially distributed and the exact solution for the ruin probability when claim sizes have Erlang(2) distributions. Finally, we use numerical examples to illustrate the impact of interest and liquid reserves on the ruin probability.   相似文献

In the absence of dividends, the surplus of an insurance company is modelled by a compound Poisson process perturbed by diffusion. Dividends are paid at a constant rate whenever the modified surplus is above the threshold, otherwise no dividends are paid. Two integro-differential equations for the expected discounted dividend payments prior to ruin are derived and closed-form solutions are given. Accordingly, the Gerber–Shiu expected discounted penalty function and some ruin related functionals, the probability of ultimate ruin, the time of ruin and the surplus before ruin and the deficit at ruin, are considered and their analytic expressions are given by general solution formulas. Finally the moment-generating function of the total discounted dividends until ruin is discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, the discounted penalty (Gerber-Shiu) functions for a risk model involving two independent classes of insurance risks under a threshold dividend strategy are developed. We also assume that the two claim number processes are independent Poisson and generalized Erlang (2) processes, respectively. When the surplus is above this threshold level, dividends are paid at a constant rate that does not exceed the premium rate. Two systems of integro-differential equations for discounted penalty functions are derived, based on whether the surplus is above this threshold level. Laplace transformations of the discounted penalty functions when the surplus is below the threshold level are obtained. And we also derive a system of renewal equations satisfied by the discounted penalty function with initial surplus above the threshold strategy via the Dickson-Hipp operator. Finally, analytical solutions of the two systems of integro-differential equations are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, the compound Poisson risk model with surplus-dependent premium rate is analyzed in the taxation system proposed by Albrecher and Hipp (Bl?tter der DGVFM 28(1):13–28, 2007). In the compound Poisson risk model, Albrecher and Hipp (Bl?tter der DGVFM 28(1):13–28, 2007) showed that a simple relationship between the ruin probabilities in the risk model with and without tax exists. This so-called tax identity was later generalized to a surplus-dependent tax rate by Albrecher et al. (Insur Math Econ 44(2):304–306, 2009). The present paper further generalizes these results to the Gerber–Shiu function with a generalized penalty function involving the maximum surplus prior to ruin. We show that this generalized Gerber–Shiu function in the risk model with tax is closely related to the ‘original’ Gerber–Shiu function in the risk model without tax defined in a dividend barrier framework. The moments of the discounted tax payments before ruin and the optimal threshold level for the tax authority to start collecting tax payments are also examined.  相似文献

The perturbed Sparre Andersen model with a threshold dividend strategy   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we consider a Sparre Andersen model perturbed by diffusion with generalized Erlang(n)-distributed inter-claim times and a threshold dividend strategy. Integro-differential equations with certain boundary conditions for the moment-generation function and the mth moment of the present value of all dividends until ruin are derived. We also derive integro-differential equations with boundary conditions for the Gerber–Shiu functions. The special case where the inter-claim times are Erlang(2) distributed and the claim size distribution is exponential is considered in some details.  相似文献

In this paper a stochastic process involving two-sided jumps and a continuous downward drift is studied. In the context of ruin theory, the model can be interpreted as the surplus process of a business enterprise which is subject to constant expense rate over time along with random gains and losses. On the other hand, such a stochastic process can also be viewed as a queueing system with instantaneous work removals (or negative customers). The key quantity of our interest pertaining to the above model is (a variant of) the Gerber–Shiu expected discounted penalty function (Gerber and Shiu in N. Am. Actuar. J. 2(1):48–72, 1998) from ruin theory context. With the distributions of the jump sizes and their inter-arrival times left arbitrary, the general structure of the Gerber–Shiu function is studied via an underlying ladder height structure and the use of defective renewal equations. The components involved in the defective renewal equations are explicitly identified when the upward jumps follow a combination of exponentials. Applications of the Gerber–Shiu function are illustrated in finding (i) the Laplace transforms of the time of ruin, the time of recovery and the duration of first negative surplus in the ruin context; (ii) the joint Laplace transform of the busy period and the subsequent idle period in the queueing context; and (iii) the expected total discounted reward for a continuous payment stream payable during idle periods in a queue.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the continuity and differentiability of several classes of ruin functions under Markov-modulated insurance risk models with a barrier and threshold dividend strategy, respectively. Many ruin related functions in the literature, such as the expectation and the Laplace transform of the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty function at ruin, of the total discounted dividends until ruin, and of the time-integrated discounted penalty and/or reward function of the risk process, etc, are special cases of the functions considered in this paper. Continuity and differentiability of these functions in the corresponding dual models are also studied.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the compound Poisson risk model influenced by an external Markovian environment process, i.e. Markov-modulated compound Poisson model. The explicit Laplace transforms of Gerber–Shiu functions are obtained, while the explicit Gerber–Shiu functions are derived for the K n -family claim size distributions in the two-states case.   相似文献

In this paper, we consider the renewal risk process under a threshold dividend payment strategy. For this model, the expected discounted dividend payments and the Gerber–Shiu expected discounted penalty function are investigated. Integral equations, integro-differential equations and some closed form expressions for them are derived. When the claims are exponentially distributed, it is verified that the expected penalty of the deficit at ruin is proportional to the ruin probability.  相似文献

The paper proposes a new approach to study a general class of ruin-related quantities in the context of a renewal risk model. While the classical approaches in Sparre Andersen models have their own merits, the approach presented in this paper has its advantages from the following perspectives. (1) The underlying surplus process has the flexibility to reflect a broad range of scenarios for surplus growth including dividend policies and interest returns. (2) The solution method provides a general framework to unify a great variety of existing ruin-related quantities such as Gerber–Shiu functions and the expected present value of dividends paid up to ruin, and facilitates derivations of new ruin-related quantities such as the expected present value of total claim costs up to ruin, etc. In the end, many specific examples are explored to demonstrate its application in renewal risk models.

The Expected Discounted Penalty Function (EDPF) was introduced in a series of now classical papers ( [Gerber and Shiu, 1997], [Gerber and Shiu, 1998a] and [Gerber and Shiu, 1998b]). Motivated by applications in option pricing and risk management, and inspired by recent developments in fluctuation theory for Lévy processes, we study an extended definition of the expected discounted penalty function that takes into account a new ruin-related random variable. In addition to the surplus before ruin and deficit at ruin, we extend the EDPF to include the surplus at the last minimum before ruin. We provide an expression for the generalized EDPF in terms of convolutions in a setting involving a subordinator and a spectrally negative Lévy process. Some expressions for the classical EDPF are recovered as special cases of the generalized EDPF.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider an extension to the compound Poisson risk model for which the occurrence of the claim may be delayed. Two kinds of dependent claims, main claims and by-claims, are defined, where every by-claim is induced by the main claim and may be delayed with a certain probability. Both the expected discounted penalty functions with zero initial surplus and the Laplace transforms of the expected discounted penalty functions are obtained from an integro-differential equations system. We prove that the expected discounted penalty function satisfies a defective renewal equation. An exact representation for the solution of this equation is derived through an associated compound geometric distribution, and an analytic expression for this quantity is given for when the claim amounts from both classes are exponentially distributed. Moreover, the closed form expressions for the ruin probability and the distribution function of the surplus before ruin are obtained. We prove that the ruin probability for this risk model decreases as the probability of the delay of by-claims increases. Finally, numerical results are also provided to illustrate the applicability of our main result and the impact of the delay of by-claims on the expected discounted penalty functions.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a renewal risk model with stochastic premiums income. We assume that the premium number process and the claim number process are a Poisson process and a generalized Erlang (n) processes, respectively. When the individual stochastic premium sizes are exponentially distributed, the Laplace transform and a defective renewal equation for the Gerber-Shiu discounted penalty function are obtained. Furthermore, the discounted joint distribution of the surplus just before ruin and the deficit at ruin is given. When the claim size distributions belong to the rational family, the explicit expression of the Gerber-Shiu discounted penalty function is derived. Finally, a specific example is provided.

We consider a compound Poisson risk model with interest. The Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty function is modified with an additional penalty for reaching a level above the initial capital. We show that the problem can be split into two independent problems; an original Gerber–Shiu function and a first passage problem. We also consider the case of negative interest. Finally, we apply the results to a model considered by Embrechts and Schmidli (1994).  相似文献

In this paper we consider an extension to the classical compound Poisson risk model in which we introduce a dependence structure between the claim amounts and the interclaim time. This structure is embedded via a generalized Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern copula. In this framework, we derive the Laplace transform of the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty function. An explicit expression for the Laplace transform of the time of ruin is given for exponential claim sizes.  相似文献

This article considers a Markov-dependent risk model with a constant dividend barrier. A system of integro-differential equations with boundary conditions satisfied by the expected discounted penalty function, with given initial environment state, is derived and solved. Explicit formulas for the discounted penalty function are obtained when the initial surplus is zero or when all the claim amount distributions are from rational family. In two state model, numerical illustrations with exponential claim amounts are given.  相似文献
