We discuss synchronization in networks of neuronal oscillators which are interconnected via diffusive coupling, i.e. linearly coupled via gap junctions. In particular, we present sufficient conditions for synchronization in these networks using the theory of semi-passive and passive systems. We show that the conductance based neuronal models of Hodgkin-Huxley, Morris-Lecar, and the popular reduced models of FitzHugh-Nagumo and Hindmarsh-Rose all satisfy a semi-passivity property, i.e. that is the state trajectories of such a model remain oscillatory but bounded provided that the supplied (electrical) energy is bounded. As a result, for a wide range of coupling configurations, networks of these oscillators are guaranteed to possess ultimately bounded solutions. Moreover, we demonstrate that when the coupling is strong enough the oscillators become synchronized. Our theoretical conclusions are confirmed by computer simulations with coupled Hindmarsh-Rose and Morris-Lecar oscillators. Finally we discuss possible “instabilities” in networks of oscillators induced by the diffusive coupling.  相似文献

We study the transition to phase synchronization in two diffusively coupled, nonidentical Chua oscillators. In the experiments, depending on the used parameterization, we observe several distinct routes to phase synchronization, including states of either in-phase, out-of-phase, or antiphase synchronization, which may be intersected by an intermediate desynchronization regime with large fluctuations of the frequency difference. Furthermore, we report the first experimental evidence of an anomalous transition to phase synchronization, which is characterized by an initial enlargement of the natural frequency difference with coupling strength. This results in a maximal frequency disorder at intermediate coupling levels, whereas usual phase synchronization via monotonic decrease in frequency difference sets in only for larger coupling values. All experimental results are supported by numerical simulations of two coupled Chua models.  相似文献

We study the transition from stochasticity to determinism in calcium oscillations via diffusive coupling of individual cells that are modeled by stochastic simulations of the governing reaction-diffusion equations. As expected, the stochastic solutions gradually converge to their deterministic limit as the number of coupled cells increases. Remarkably however, although the strict deterministic limit dictates a fully periodic behavior, the stochastic solution remains chaotic even for large numbers of coupled cells if the system is set close to an inherently chaotic regime. On the other hand, the lack of proximity to a chaotic regime leads to an expected convergence to the fully periodic behavior, thus suggesting that near-chaotic states are presently a crucial predisposition for the observation of noise-induced chaos. Our results suggest that chaos may exist in real biological systems due to intrinsic fluctuations and uncertainties characterizing their functioning on small scales.  相似文献

The adaptive coupled synchronization method for non-autonomous systems is proposed. This method can avoid estimating the value of coupling coefficient. Under the uniform Lipschitz assumption, we derive the asymptotical synchronization for a general coupling ring network with N identical non-autonomous systems~ even when N is large enough. Strict theoretical proofs are given. Numerical simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the present method.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a chaos synchronization configuration based on the optoelectronic coupled semiconductor lasers ring (OCSLR). The synchronization characteristics between semiconductor lasers (SLs) under unidirectional or bidirectional OCSLR are numerically investigated, and the influences of some typical internal and external mismatched parameters on synchronization are simultaneously discussed. The results show that, compared with a unidirectional OCSLR, the bidirectional OCSLR possesses better synchronization properties and robustness to the mismatched parameters. Moreover, the extraction of the encoded signals is preliminarily examined under the chaos shift keying scheme.  相似文献

以环形耦合Duffing振子系统为研究对象,分析了耦合振子间的同步演化过程.发现在弱耦合条件下,如果所有振子受到同一周期策动力的驱动,那么系统在经历倍周期分岔、混沌态、大尺度周期态的相变时,各振子的运动轨迹之间将出现由同步到不同步再到同步的两次突变现象.利用其中任何一次同步突变现象可以实现系统相变的快速判别,并由此补充了利用倍周期分岔与混沌态的这一相变对微弱周期信号进行检测的方法. 关键词: Duffing振子 同步突变 相变 微弱信号检测  相似文献

The effect of time-correlated and white Gaussian noises of low intensity on one-dimensional arrays consisting of diffusively coupled chaotic cells is analyzed. An improvement or worsening of the synchronization between cells of the array driven by low-intensity colored noise is observed for a resonant interval of time correlation values. A comparison between colored and white noise and additive and multiplicative contribution has been carried out investigating the nonlinear cooperative effects of noise strength, correlation time, and coupling strength to control spatiotemporal chaos in coupled arrays of chaotic cells. The possibility to distinguish highly correlated areas of a diffusively coupled network of cells by using low-intensity time correlated noise is discussed. In the ring of unidirectionally coupled Toda oscillators the nonlinear resonance and the synchronization are investigated. It is shown how the nonlinear resonance affects the structure of the main synchronization region. As a result of nonlinear resonance we observe the coexistence of two stable limit cycles near the resonant frequency, which leads to coexistence of periodic and quasi-periodic regimes within the synchronization region.  相似文献

It has been known that a diffusive coupling between two limit cycle oscillations typically leads to the in-phase synchronization and also that it is the only stable state in the weak-coupling limit. Recently, however, it has been shown that the coupling of the same nature can result in the distinctive dephased synchronization when the limit cycles are close to the homoclinic bifurcation, which often occurs especially for the neuronal oscillators. In this paper we propose a simple physical model using the modified van der Pol equation, which unfolds the generic synchronization behaviors of the latter kind and in which one may readily observe changes in the sychronization behaviors between the distinctive regimes as well. The dephasing mechanism is analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively in the weak-coupling limit. A general form of coupling is introduced and the synchronization behaviors over a wide range of the coupling parameters are explored to construct the phase diagram using the bifurcation analysis.  相似文献

Pattern selection at medium and high nonlinearity is investigated. While in the former the transient time levels off for large system sizes, in the latter it diverges exponentially giving rise to supertransients. In both cases, the final attractors are quite stable with as a consequence that even at high nonlinearity an attractor can easily be reached by means of a parameter sweep.  相似文献

Spatiotemporal stochastic forcing of an ensemble system consisting of chaotic Lorenz cells diffusively coupled is analyzed. The nontrivial effects of time and length correlations on the ensemble mean error and spread are studied and the implications to new trends in weather forecast methodologies are discussed. A maximum for the forecast scores is observed to occur for specific values of time and length correlations. This maximum is studied in terms of an interplay between the natural scales occurring in the system and the noise parameters.  相似文献

Using a continuum model for multi-component phase change system, the freezing of cell suspension in a ternary solution, H2O-NaCl-CPA (cryoprotective agent) inside a flat bag is investigated numerically in this study. The temperature and phase change history, intracellular water loss, and the volume change of the cells at different locations inside cell suspension are calculated. Numerical results reveal that although the sample boundary is cooled at a constant rate, different locations inside the sample experienced different temperature changes and cooling rates. The highest cooling rates occur at internal locations. The cell volume change is location-dependent.  相似文献

A phase model for a population of oscillators with random excitatory and inhibitory mean-field coupling and subject to external white noise random forces is proposed and studied. In the thermodynamic limit different stable phases for the oscillator population may be found: (i) an incoherent state where all possible values of an oscillator phase are equally probable, (ii) a synchronized state where the population has a nonzero collective phase; (iii) a glassy phase where the global synchronization is zero but the oscillators are in phase with the random disorder; and (iv) a mixed phase where the oscillators are partially synchronized and partially in phase with the disorder. These predictions are based upon bifurcation analysis of the reduced equation valid at the thermodynamic limit and confirmed by Brownian simulation.  相似文献

We devised a new method of data mining for a large-scale database. In the method, a network of locally coupled phase oscillators subject to Kuramoto's model substitutes for given multivariate data to generate major features through phase locking of the oscillators, i.e., phase transition of the data set. We applied the method to the national database of care needs certification for the Japanese public long-term care insurance program, and found three major patterns in the aging process of the frail elderly. This work revealed the latent utility of Kuramoto's model for data processing.  相似文献

The spatiotemporal synchronization between two plasma instabilities of autonomous glow discharge tubes is observed experimentally. For this purpose, two tubes are placed separately and two chaotic waves interact with each other through a coupler. When the coupling strength is changed, the coupled oscillators exhibit synchronization in time and space. This is the first experimental evidence of spatiotemporal synchronization by mutual chaotic wave interaction in plasma.  相似文献

In this paper, phase synchronization and its transitions are discussed by means of theoretical and numerical analyses. In two coupled modified Morris-Lecar neurons with a gap junction, we show that the occurrence of phase synchronization can be investigated from the dynamics of phase equation, and the analytical synchronization condition is derived. By defining the phase of spike and burst, the transitions from burst synchronization to spike synchronization and then toward nearly complete synchronization can be identified by bifurcation diagrams, the mean frequency difference and time series of neurons. The simulation results suggest that the synchronization of bursting activity is a multi-time-scale phenomenon and the phase synchronization deduced by the phase equation is actually spike synchronization.  相似文献

ESR investigations on exchange coupled pairs of Cu ions in single crystals of Cu(dtc)2, isomorphously diluted with the corresponding diamagnetic zinc salt, are reported. The spin Hamiltonian parameters for the coupled species (S=1) are:g =2.1025,g +=2.031,A=75.1×10−4 cm−1,B=14.8×10−4,D=276.0×10−4 cm−1 andE=46.7×10−4 cm−1. While theg andA tensors show tetragonal symmetry, the zeor-field splitting tensor is rhombic and has principal axes different from those of theg andA tensors. Intensity measurements made down to 4.2 K indicate that the exchange is ferromagnetic with |FFF| ∼ 10 cm−1. Direct dipole-dipole interaction appears to be the major contribution to the zero-field splitting. A calculation on the distributed point dipole model shows that dipolar interaction is considerably modified by the high covalency of the Cu-S bond and accounts for the rhombic nature of the tensor. The possible exchange mechanisms in Cu(dtc)2—direct exchange and superexchange through the bridging sulphurs—are discussed.  相似文献
