In this work we report laser action in 69 new FIR laser lines in CD3OH optically pumped by a regular cw CO2 laser. We have performed measurements of laser wavelength, optimum pressure of the gas, relative polarization and intensity on all lines, including some previously known.  相似文献

The operation of a cw FIR laser in the presence of a strong electric field is described. A hybrid metal-dielectric waveguide is used and the cavity length is scanned to study how the frequency and power of the laser depend on the field strength. The results have also been checked by heterodyning with a conventional reference laser. We report the results obtained for the 496 μm line of CH3F and the 70.5 μm and 119 μm lines of CH3OH. A large frequency tunability of almost ±40 MHz is obtained in the best case with power levels in the mW range. A very simple theoretical model accounts for the experimental results. We also report the appearance of a new FIR line at about 204 μm when CH3OH is pumped by the 9 μmP(34) of CO2 in the presence of an electric field larger than 1.2 KV/cm.  相似文献

The two or multi-mode optically pumped NH3 FIR laser had been studied theoretically. The NH3 molecular gas was assumed to be a three-level system and obeyed the time-dependent behavior of the density matrix equations. Considering the situation of playing the two or multi-mode optical pumping and the FIR laser field were same polarized. The gain coefficient and the output FIR power of the system could be calculated by using the iteration method.It had been predicted that the two or multiple longitudinal mode optically pumped NH3 FIR laser could have a greater output power or higher lasing efficiency than single mode pumped FIR laser under suitable selected operating parameters of laser.Supported by The Education Foundation of PRC.  相似文献

By using an acoustooptic modulator we extend the 300 MHz tunability of a waveguide CO2 laser to 480 MHz. The CD3OH was optically pumped by the 10R(32), 10R(34), and 10R(36) CO2 laser lines, and 17 new FIR laser lines were discovered. The Stark effect on previously known FIR laser lines was investigated, and some tentative FIR laser lines assignments are suggested.  相似文献

A far-infrared (FIR) NH3 laser was resonantly pumped with a line-tunable infrared (IR) NH3 laser. The number of the observed FIR laser lines amounted to 33. Most of them belonged toaR(J,K) rotation-inversion transition in (0, 1, 0, 0) vibrational state. The line tunability of sealed-off FIR NH3 laser was almost achieved in 90, 115, 150, and 220 m wavelength regions by the selective line tuning of the pumping IR NH3 laser.  相似文献

We have reinvestigated 13CH3OH as a source of far-infrared (FIR) laser emission using a CO2 laser as a pumping source. Thirty new FIR laser lines in the range 36.5 μm to 202.6 μm were observed and characterized. Five of them have wavelengths between 36.5 and 75 μm and have sufficient intensity to be used in LMR spectroscopy. Using Fourier-transform spectroscopic data in the infrared (IR) and FIR regions we have determined the assignment for 10 FIR laser transitions and predict nine frequencies for laser lines which have yet to be observed. The methanol isotopic species CH3OD has also proved to be an efficient and powerful medium to generate radiation in the far infrared (FIR) region. After the critical review of 1994, six papers have been published dealing with new FIR laser lines from this molecule. As a consequence of the use of wide tunability waveguide CO2 lasers as well as a new pulsed CO2 laser operating at hot and sequential bands, as of optical pumping sources, the total number of the FIR laser lines increased from 122 in 1994 to 227 today. In this communication we present an updated and complete catalogue of FIR laser lines generated from CH3OD. Information on wavelength, offset, relative polarization, intensity, and optimum operation pressure is generally available.  相似文献

High-resolution infrared (IR) and far infrared (FIR) Fourier transform absorption spectra have been employed to investigate assignments of FIR laser lines reported from optically-pumped13CH3OH. The spectroscopic measurements are used in conjunction with the reported IR pump and FIR laser frequencies to form closed combination loops for several systems, serving to confirm the assignments and in some cases to improve the accuracy of the FIR laser frequencies. Frequency predictions from combination differences are also presented for a number of potential new FIR laser lines.  相似文献

High-resolution Fourier transform spectroscopy has been applied to confirm previously proposed assignments for nine far infrared (FIR) laser lines from the CH3-deformation state of CH3OH and one line from the CH3-rocking state. Accurate frequencies are deduced for the observed and other predicted FIR laser transitions. FIR torsional branch frequencies in the ground state which were used in the confirmation are presented. Comments are also made on the OH-bending mode of CH3OH.  相似文献

We report the discovery of 57 new fir laser lines from13CD3OH molecule optically pumped by a waveguide CO2 laser of 300 MHz tunability. For all lines, precise frequency offset measurements between the CO2 line center and the center of the absorbing13CD3OH line were performed using the transferred Lamb-Dip technique. We have also measured directly the frequency of seven FIR laser lines by heterodyning with already known laser lines. A compact FIR laser cavity having a couple of folding mirrors was designed. By inserting this FIR cavity into the pump TE CO2 laser resonator, we observed 19 FIR NH3 laser lines of which 4 new lines were included. The maximum output power was over 500 W at 90 m.  相似文献

This work reports the discovery of 45 new optically pumped far-infrared (FIR) laser lines from CH3OD in the range 42.6 m to 207.2 m. A highly efficient CO2 laser was used as the pump laser for an Optically-pumped Fabry-Perot FIR laser. The frequencies of most of the new lines were measured in the range 1.7 to 6.4 THz. Twenty-eight CO2 lines were used as pump lines; nineteen of these had frequencies lower than those previously used to pump CH3OD in a FIR laser. Sixteen of the new FIR lines had absorption transitions which belong to the OD bending vibrational mode.  相似文献

In this work we report new FIR laser lines from CD3OD optically pumped by a CO2 waveguide laser. The wide tunability of this laser (290 MHz) makes it possible to pump absorption lines with large frequency offset relative to the CO2 laser line center, which are not possible by using conventional CO2 lasers. As a consequence 19 new laser lines have been discovered, ranging from 38.0 m to 455.2 m in wavelength. For all lines, precise frequency offset measurements between the CO2 line center and the center of the absorber CD3OD line were performed using the transferred Lamb-dip technique. In this paper, infrared (IR) and far-infrared (FIR) laser emissions from a TE CO2 laser pumped NH3 gas are reported. 8 IR laser emissions near the wavelength of 12 μm were observed by using 4 different CO2 laser lines for the pumping. 3 IR laser emissions in P-branch of vibrational-rotational band (ν2 → G) oscillated simultaneously in two pumping cases, i.e. pumping with the R(30) or R(16) line of 9.4 μm band from the CO2 laser. 26 FIR laser emissions (26.45 μm ~ 281.0 μm) were observed by using 12 different CO2 laser lines, and the 10 FIR emissions of them may be new laser emissions as far as we know.  相似文献

In this paper, the density matrix equation of three-level system for far-infrared (FIR) Raman transition in vibrational ground state was solved. By means of iteration method and numerical calculation, the spectral characteristics of NH3 molecules FIR laser with TEA CO2-10R(14) laser pumping was studied theoretically. Based on the density matrix theory of quantum system, the spectra of optically pumped superradiant and cavity NH3 far-infrared (FIR) lasers were calculated by means of iteration method. The calculation showed that, compared with the optically pumped superradiant FIR laser, the cavity laser had a wider band spectrum of FIR emission and a higher output power under certain condition, moreover, the spectra of cavity laser had multi longitudinal-mode structure. The Q branch of the C-O stretching fundamental band of 13CD3OH has been investigated. Starting from a high resolution (4 × 10−3cm−1) infrared Fourier transform spectrum and using a waveguide CO2 laser of 300 MHz tunability and an acoustooptic modulator for an extension of ±90 MHz, 31 new FIR laser lines have been observed. The related absorptions have been measured by means of optoacoustic detection. The frequency of one new FIR laser line was also measured. Eight tentative assignments are proposed for the IR absorption and FIR laser emissions.  相似文献
