A theoretical calculation is carried out to investigate the spectrum of a barium Rydberg atom in an external magnetic field. Using an effective approach incorporating quantum defect into the centrifugal term in the Hamiltonian, we reexamine the reported spectrum of the barium Rydberg atom in a magnetic field of 2.89 T [J. Phys. B 28 L537 (1995)]. Our calculation employs B-spline basis expansion and complex coordinate rotation techniques. For single photon absorption from the ground 6s2 to 6snp Rydberg states, the spectrum is not influenced by quantum defects of channels ns and nd. The calculation is in agreement with the experimental observations until the energy reaches E = 60 cm-1 . Beyond this energy, closer to the threshold, the calculated and experimental results do not agree with each other. Possible reasons for their discrepancies are discussed. Our study affirms an energy range where the diamagnetic spectrum of the barium atom can be explained thoroughly using a hydrogen model potential.  相似文献

在球坐标下采用基组展开方法计算了均匀磁场中的氢原子高Rydberg态能谱和振子强度谱.径向和角向均采用高阶B样条基组. 径向采用B样条基组能很好地描述束缚态与连续态的耦合;角向采用B样条基组有效地减少了基组维数,计算效率得到大幅度提高. 用上述方法计算了磁场中氢原子Rydberg态-40cm-1到零场电离阈的高精度抗磁谱并与已有理论和实验结果作了比较. 该方法适用于低于离化阈的所有能区的精确谱计算并易于推广到非氢原子、交叉场中的原子以及高于离化阈的正能区光谱的计算. 关键词: 氢原子 B样条基组 能谱 振子强度谱  相似文献

主要研究了室温下微波场缀饰的铯Rydberg原子的电磁感应透明-Autler-Townes(EIT-AT)光谱.首先,以铯原子6S_(1/2)→6P_(3/2)→50S_(1/2)形成阶梯型三能级系统,利用强耦合光作用于6P_(3/2)→50S_(1/2)的Rydberg跃迁,弱探测光耦合基态跃迁6S_(1/2)→6P_(3/2)并探测由耦合光形成的电磁感应透明(EIT)效应.然后,以频率为30.582 GHz的微波电场耦合相邻的Rydberg能级50S_(1/2)→50P_(1/2)产生微波AT分裂.利用Rydberg EIT探测微波耦合相邻Rydberg能级产生的AT分裂,形成EIT-AT光谱,进而实现微波电场的测量.当微波场的强度增加到一定值时,EIT-AT光谱表现为多峰光谱结构.分析EIT-AT多峰光谱的成因,发现这主要是由场的不均匀性导致的,一定的EIT-AT光谱特征对应于特定的非均匀场分布.研究表明,利用Rydberg EIT-AT光谱可以实现微波电场的测量,利用其光谱特征可实现微波场的实时监测,进而提出了一种提高微波场空间分辨率的测量方法.  相似文献

The spectra of excited lithium-7 atoms prepared in a magneto-optical trap are studied using a UV laser. The laser diagnostics of the energy of Rydberg atoms is developed based on measurements of the change in resonance fluorescence intensity of ultracold atoms as the exciting UV radiation frequency passes through the Rydberg transition frequency. The energies of various nS configurations are obtained in a broad range of the principal quantum number n from 38 to 165. The values of the quantum defect and ionization energy obtained in experiments and predicted theoretically are discussed.  相似文献

We have developed a two-dimensional semiclassical model of the radiative-collisional cascade for hydrogen-like systems. We describe the collisions with electrons and ions by classical diffusion in the space of principal and orbital quantum numbers and use an iterative procedure that consistently takes into account the quantum nature of the radiative cascade for radiative transitions. The model establishes the correspondence between the quantum and classical approaches and indicates that the latter cannot be directly used to calculate the population kinetics of highly excited atomic states. Our calculations of the two-dimensional populations of highly excited atomic hydrogen states for selective, three-body, and photorecombination sources of population allow the data of one-dimensional kinetic models to be refined. The calculated intensities of recombination lines demonstrate the degree of nonequilibrium of the Rydberg state populations under typical astrophysical plasma conditions.  相似文献

用B样条基组展开方法结合模型势计算了里德堡钠原子抗磁谱和相应的振子强度谱.径向和角向均采用高阶B样条基组.计算结果与已有的R-矩阵和多通道量子亏损理论相结合(R-matrix MQDT)法及其他理论计算结果作了比较,几种理论结果在我们所研究的能区内符合得非常好.本文方法较R-ma-trix MQDT法简单,易于推广到交叉电磁场中里德堡原子的精确谱的计算中.  相似文献

Results are presented from an experiment on the observation of an induced microwave transition 37P-37S in sodium Rydberg atoms under the action of 30 thermal photons in a microwave cavity. Rydberg atoms have been widely investigated due to their large size, long radiative lifetime, huge polarizability and strong dipole-dipole interactions. The position information of Rydberg atoms provides more possibilities for quantum optics research, which can be obtained under the localization method. We study the behavior of three-dimensional(3 D)Rydberg atom localization in a four-level configuration with the measurement of the spatial optical absorption. The atomic localization precision depends strongly on the detuning and Rabi frequency of the involved laser fields. A 100% probability of finding the Rydberg atom at a specific 3 D position is achieved with precision of ~0.031λ. This work demonstrates the possibility for achieving the 3 D atom localization of the Rydberg atom in the experiment.  相似文献

The B-spline expansion technique and the time-dependent multilevel approach (TDMA) are used to study the interaction between a microwave field and sodium atoms. The Rydberg sodium atom energy levels of p states in zero field are calculated, and the results are in good agreement with the other theoretical ones. The time evolutions during the population transfers of the five states from n = 75 to n = 79 in different microwave fields are obtained. The results show that the coherent control of the population transfer from the lower states to the higher ones can be accomplished by optimizing the microwave pulse parameters.  相似文献

We present an efficient, state-selective, nondemolition atom-counting procedure based on the dispersive interaction of a sample of circular Rydberg atoms with a mesoscopic field contained in a high-quality superconducting cavity. The state-dependent atomic index of refraction, proportional to the atom number, shifts the classical field phase. A homodyne procedure translates the information from the phase to the intensity. The final field intensity is readout by a mesoscopic atomic sample. This method opens promising routes for quantum information processing and nonclassical state generation with Rydberg atoms.  相似文献

Using time-independent scattering matrices, we study how the effects of nonclassical paths on the recurrence spectra of diamagnetic atoms can be extracted from purely quantal calculations. This study reveals an intimate relationship between two types of nonclassical paths: exotic ghost orbits and diffractive orbits. This relationship proves to be a previously unrecognized reason for the success of semiclassical theories, such as closed-orbit theory, and permits a comprehensive reformulation of the semiclassical theory that elucidates its convergence properties.  相似文献
