N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) were generated in-situ from imidazolium and imidazolinium salts by deprotonation of C-2 hydrogen and were used as ligands in the copper-catalyzed addition of diethylzinc to N-sulfonylimines. By means of a combined experimental and theoretical approach, the electronic features and chemical behavior of metalla‐N‐heterocyclic carbenes (MNHCs, N‐heterocyclic carbenes containing a metal atom within the heterocyclic skeleton) have been established and compared with those of classical NHCs. MNHCs are strongly basic (proton affinity and pKa values around 290 kcal mol?1 and 36, respectively) with a narrow singlet–triplet gap (around 23 kcal mol?1). MNHCs can be generated from the corresponding metalla‐imidazolium salts and trapped by addition of transition‐metal complexes affording the corresponding heterodimetallic dicarbene derivatives, which can serve as carbene transfer agents.  相似文献

Selective reactions between nucleophilic N,N′‐diaryl‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) and electrophilic fluorinated alkenes afford NHC fluoroalkenes in high yields. These stable compounds undergo efficient and selective fluoride abstraction with Lewis acids to give polyfluoroalkenyl imidazolium salts. These salts react at Cβ with pyrrolidine to give ammonium fluoride‐substituted salts, which give rise to conjugated imidazolium‐enamine salts through loss of HF. Alternatively, reaction with 4‐(dimethylamino)‐pyridine provides a Cα‐pyridinium‐substituted NHC fluoroalkene. These compounds were studied using multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and X‐ray crystallography. Insight into their electronic structure and reactivity was gained through the use of DFT calculations.  相似文献

A Pd-catalyzed method for the preparation of imidazolinium salts from the corresponding thioureas that could then be used for the synthesis of imidazolium and amidinium salts is described. This method has great potential because all the required reagents are readily available and thioureas are safely converted to their corresponding precursors of NHCs under mild conditions.  相似文献

A new method for the synthesis of 2-aroyl-, 2-heteroaroyl-, and 2-cinnamoyl-substituted imidazoles in very good yields has been developed. The reaction employs novel nitrogen heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), namely, N-arylamino-substituted NHCs, formed in situ from the corresponding imidazolium salts, and subsequent reaction with aromatic, heteroaromatic, and cinnamic aldehydes without utilizing transition metals or expensive specialized catalysts.  相似文献

N-Heterocyclic carbenes have numerous applications in synthetic chemistry. We detail the reactivity and chemistry of these molecules including investigations into their reactions with small reagents, their use for the preparation of polarised azines and their potential application as NLO materials. The chemistry of imidazolium salts, which are related to NHCs by the addition of a proton, is also discussed. New chemistry for ionic liquids is also revealed.  相似文献

Eight N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC),generated in situ from their imidazolium salts,as ligands of palladium complexes were used for the catalytic coupling of iodobenzene with malononi-trile anion,It was found that 1,3-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-imidazolium chloride (IMesHCl)-Pd2(dba)3 catalytic system has the highest activity to obtain phenyl malononitrile among the imidazolium salts.The substituted iodoarenes reacted with malononitrile anions by using the catalytic system to give cross-coupling products in yields from 50% to 96%.  相似文献

Changing the counteranion along the series Br, BF4, PF6, SbF6 in their ion-paired 2-pyridylmethyl imidazolium salts causes the kinetic reaction products with IrH5(PPh3)2 to switch from chelating N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) having normal C2 (N path) to abnormal C5 binding (AN path). Computational work (DFT) suggests that the AN path involves C-H oxidative addition to Ir(III) to give Ir(V) with little anion dependence. The N path, in contrast, goes by heterolytic C-H activation with proton transfer to the adjacent hydride. The proton that is transferred is accompanied by the counteranion in an anion-coupled proton transfer, leading to an anion dependence of the N path, and therefore of the N/AN selectivity. The N path goes via Ir(III), not Ir(V), because the normal NHC is a much less strong donor ligand than the abnormal NHC. PGSE NMR experiments support the formation of ion-pair in both the reactants and the products. 19F,1H-HOESY NMR experiments indicate an ion-pair structure for the products that is consistent with the computational prediction (ONIOM(B3PW91/UFF)).  相似文献

The first synthesis of 4,5-bis-(dimethylamino)-substituted imidazolium compounds was developed, which is based on the reaction of a 1,2-diamino-1,2-bis(phosphonio)ethene with lithiated formamidines. This represents the first application of this class of ethene derivatives for the preparation of heterocycles. These N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors show a remarkably reduced basicity and nucleophilicity of their NMe2 groups, which is due to the strong anomeric interactions of the latter with the imidazolium core. According to DFT calculations, these NHCs are capable of self-umpolung if sufficiently strong acceptor substituents are introduced at the carbene center. To test the self-umpolung capabilities of the NHCs, various substituents were attached to the carbene center and the obtained compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray analysis as well as quantum chemical computations. Strong acceptor substituents are required to induce self-umpolung, such as in the phosphonio-substituted derivative, for which partial self-umpolung was found. The N,N′-bis(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-substituted imidazolium compound represents a special case, as it incorporates as much as three two-step redox systems within the NHC framework. This will probably result in a high electronic flexibility of the corresponding nucleophilic carbenes, especially when they serve as ligands in transition metal complexes.  相似文献

A method for producing tri- and tetrasubstituted ureas from carbamoyl imidazolium salts is presented. Carbamoyl imidazolium salts are prepared from the reaction of N,N carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) with secondary amines, followed by alkylation with iodomethane. These stable salts can be stored for extended periods and are effective electrophilic carbamoylation reagents. Primary and secondary amines add to carbamoyl imidazolium salts at room temperature to give tri- and tetrasubstituted ureas in excellent yields. This reaction was used to synthesize ureas using both liquid-liquid extraction and solid-phase extraction (cation exchange) purification techniques. Liquid-liquid extraction affords the product ureas more cleanly than cationic exchange. A series of urea compounds were synthesized using parallel synthesis techniques in high yields and with suitable purity for routine in vitro biological tests. These studies validate the utility of carbamoyl imidazolium salts as useful building blocks for combinatorial library synthesis.  相似文献

The intramolecular crossed aldehyde-ketone benzoin condensation in the chalcone of o-phthalaldehyde (OPA) catalyzed by N-heterocyclic carbene (NHCs) generated in situ from readily available imidazolium and thiazolium salts is described. In this reaction, bicyclic α-hydroxyl ketones (naphthalenone type tertiary alcohol) were selectively produced in good yields (75-94%) in shorter reaction times (20 min) through nucleophilic addition of acyl anion generated by umpolung in OPA-chalcone (regio controlled).  相似文献

The sulfur extrusion from organic disulfides is a highly useful reaction recognised for the first time over 40 years ago. Unfortunately, it is mainly performed by aminophosphines, such as hexamethylphosphorus triamine, which is known to be very carcinogenic. This limits the application of the extrusion reaction especially for the synthesis of pharmaceutical products. We have developed a new method, using N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), generated from the corresponding stable imidazolium salts in combination with a base to transform a broad scope of benzylic disulfides to thioethers. In addition disulfide containing esters as well as cystine undergo this reaction.  相似文献

A convergent synthesis of chiral imidazo-[1,5-a]-pyridinium salts is described by facile introduction of a stereogenic center via the N2 substituent. Conversion of these optically active salts to the corresponding N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) and their trapping with sulfur followed by optical activity measurements are discussed.  相似文献

Screening studies of new chiral imidazolium and triazolium based NHC salts I–VIII as ligands in asymmetric organometallic catalysis and as organocatalysts showed that these catalysts efficiently promoted the reactions. Moderate enantioselectivities (55–57% ee) were obtained in the asymmetric Cu-NHC catalysed conjugate additions of diethylzinc to cyclohexenone, in accordance with most previous studies. The chiral induction afforded in the gold(I)-NHC catalysed cyclopropanation reactions was low (<28% ee). However, these results represent the first reported chiral gold(I)-NHC catalysed olefin cyclopropanation. The NHC-organocatalysed asymmetric cross-annulation of cinnamaldehyde and trifluoroacetophenone gave lower enantioselectivity (<50% ee) but higher yields of the γ-lactone product relative to previous reports. The enantioselectivities obtained varied considerably, even within a group of structurally closely related NHCs. This study demonstrates the challenge of designing NHCs with a general ability to induce asymmetry in a broader range of reactions.  相似文献

A versatile and efficient method to synthesize tetrasubstituted imidazoles via a one‐pot modified Debus–Radziszewski reaction and their subsequent transformation into the corresponding imidazolium ionic liquids is reported. The tetrasubstituted imidazoles were also synthesized by means of a continuous flow process. This straightforward synthetic procedure allows for a fast and selective synthesis of tetrasubstituted imidazoles on a large scale. The completely substituted imidazolium dicyanamide and bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide salts were obtained via a metathesis reaction of the imidazolium iodide salts. The melting points and viscosities are of the same order of magnitude as for their non‐substituted analogues. In addition to the superior chemical stability of these novel ionic liquids, which allows them to be applied in strong alkaline media, the improved thermal and electrochemical stabilities of these compounds compared with conventional imidazolium ionic liquids is also demonstrated by thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Although increased substitution of the ionic liquids does not further increase thermal stability, a definite increase in cathodic stability is observable.  相似文献

Depending on the amount of methanol present in solution, CO2 adducts of N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) and N‐heterocyclic olefins (NHOs) have been found to be in fully reversible equilibrium with the corresponding methyl carbonate salts [EMIm][OCO2Me] and [EMMIm][OCO2Me]. The reactivity pattern of representative 1‐ethyl‐3‐methyl‐NHO–CO2 adduct 4 has been investigated and compared with the corresponding NHC–CO2 zwitterion: The protonation of 4 with HX led to the imidazolium salts [NHO–CO2H][X], which underwent decarboxylation to [EMMIm][X] in the presence of nucleophilic catalysts. NHO–CO2 zwitterion 4 can act as an efficient carboxylating agent towards CH acids such as acetonitrile. The [EMMIm] cyanoacetate and [EMMIm]2 cyanomalonate salts formed exemplify the first C?C bond‐forming carboxylation reactions with NHO‐activated CO2. The reaction of the free NHO with dimethyl carbonate selectively led to methoxycarbonylated NHO, which is a perfect precursor for the synthesis of functionalized ILs [NHO–CO2Me][X]. The first NHO‐SO2 adduct was synthesized and structurally characterized; it showed a similar reactivity pattern, which allowed the synthesis of imidazolium methyl sulfites upon reaction with methanol.  相似文献

Alkoxide‐bridged disilver cations react with dihydrogen to form hydride‐bridged cations, releasing free alcohol. Hydrogenolysis of neutral silver fluorides affords hydride‐bridged disilver cations as their bifluoride salts. These reactions proceed most efficiently when the supporting ligands are expanded N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) derived from 6‐ and 7‐membered cyclic amidinium salts. Kinetics studies show that silver fluoride hydrogenolysis is first‐order in both silver and dihydrogen.  相似文献

A modular synthesis of N-substituted chiral imidazolium salts derived from (1R,2S)-(+)-1-amino-2-indanol is described. A wide range of amines are amenable to late stage introduction of the N-substituent to provide N-aryl, N-alkyl, and N-amino imidazolium salts, which serve as precursors to chiral N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs). A multi-gram synthesis of the N-mesityl derivative provides an important imidazolium salt for ongoing studies aimed at the development and understanding of NHC-catalyzed annulations. Critical to the success of this synthetic strategy is a chemoselective alkylation, 6-exo-tet ring closure of a formamide onto an epoxide, and a heterocyclic interconversion strategy.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and catalytic activity of a polymeric imidazolium salt. In contrast to the well-known resin-supported N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), the material described herein affords a polymer with NHCs orthogonally positioned along a main chain upon generation in situ. The unique structural characteristics of the corresponding poly(NHC)s enabled the materials to display catalytic activities that were similar or superior to those displayed by monomeric analogues. Moreover, the new catalyst was successfully recovered and reused with minimal loss of performance over several cycles.  相似文献
