We study the boundary value problem in Ω, u = 0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded domain in with smooth boundary, λ is a positive real number, and the continuous functions p 1, p 2, and q satisfy 1 < p 2(x) < q(x) < p 1(x) < N and for any . The main result of this paper establishes the existence of two positive constants λ0 and λ1 with λ0 ≤ λ1 such that any is an eigenvalue, while any is not an eigenvalue of the above problem.  相似文献

Let be a smooth bounded domain, let a, b be two functions that are possibly discontinuous and unbounded with a ≥ 0 in and b > 0 in a set of positive measure and let 0 < p < 1 < q. We prove that there exists some 0 < Λ < ∞ such that the nonlinear Dirichlet periodic parabolic problem in has a positive solution for all 0 < λ < Λ and that there is no positive solution if λ > Λ. In some cases we also show the existence of a minimal solution for all 0 < λ < Λ and that the solution u λ can be chosen such that λ → u λ is differentiable and increasing. We also give some upper and lower estimates for such a Λ. All results remain true for the analogous elliptic problems. We deal with positive solutions of Δu = a(x)u p in a bounded smooth domain subject to the boundary condition ∂u/∂v = λu, λ a parameter, p > 1. We prove that this problem has a unique positive solution if and only if 0 < λ < σ1 where, roughly speaking, σ1 is finite if and only if |∂Ω ∩ {a = 0}| > 0 and coincides with the first eigenvalue of an associated eigenvalue problem. Moreover, we find the limit profile of the solution as λ → σ1. Supported by DGES and FEDER under grant BFM2001-3894 (J. García-Melián and J. Sabina) and ANPCyT PICT No. 03-05009 (J. D. Rossi). J.D. We consider the principal eigenvalue λ 1Ω(α) corresponding to Δu = λ (α) u in W, \frac?u?v = au \Omega, \frac{\partial u}{\partial v} = \alpha u on ∂Ω, with α a fixed real, and W ì Rn\Omega \subset {\mathcal{R}}^n a C 0,1 bounded domain. If α > 0 and small, we derive bounds for λ 1Ω(α) in terms of a Stekloff-type eigenvalue; while for α > 0 large we study the behavior of its growth in terms of maximum curvature. We analyze how domain monotonicity of the principal eigenvalue depends on the geometry of the domain, and prove that domains which exhibit domain monotonicity for every α are calibrable. We conjecture that a domain has the domain monotonicity property for some α if and only if it is calibrable.  相似文献

We consider the following semilinear elliptic equation with singular nonlinearity:
where and Ω is an open subset in . Let u be a non-negative finite energy stationary solution and be the rupture set of u. We show that the Hausdorff dimension of Σ is less than or equal to [(n−2) α+(n+2)]/(α +1).  相似文献

Consider the equation −Δu = 0 in a bounded smooth domain , complemented by the nonlinear Neumann boundary condition ∂ν u = f(x, u) − u on ∂Ω. We show that any very weak solution of this problem belongs to L (Ω) provided f satisfies the growth condition |f(x, s)| ≤ C(1 + |s| p ) for some p ∈ (1, p*), where . If, in addition, f(x, s) ≥ −C + λs for some λ > 1, then all positive very weak solutions are uniformly a priori bounded. We also show by means of examples that p* is a sharp critical exponent. In particular, using variational methods we prove the following multiplicity result: if N ∈ {3, 4} and f(x, s) =  s p then there exists a domain Ω and such that our problem possesses at least two positive, unbounded, very weak solutions blowing up at a prescribed point of ∂Ω provided . Our regularity results and a priori bounds for positive very weak solutions remain true if the right-hand side in the differential equation is of the form h(x, u) with h satisfying suitable growth conditions.  相似文献

In this note, we consider the problem
on a smooth bounded domain Ω in for p > 1. Let u p be a positive solution of the above problem with Morse index less than or equal to . We prove that if u p further satisfies the assumption as p → ∞, then the number of maximum points of u p is less than or equal to m for p sufficiently large. If Ω is convex, we also show that a solution of Morse index one satisfying the above assumption has a unique critical point and the level sets are star-shaped for p sufficiently large.   相似文献

Let Δ p denote the p-Laplacian operator and Ω be a bounded domain in . We consider the eigenvalue problem
for a potential V and a weight function m that may change sign and be unbounded. Therefore the functional to be minimized is indefinite and may be unbounded from below. The main feature here is the introduction of a value α(V, m) that guarantees the boundedness of the energy over the weighted sphere . We show that the above equation has a principal eigenvalue if and only if either m ≥ 0 and α(V, m) > 0 or m changes sign and α(V, m) ≥ 0. The existence of further eigenvalues is also treated here, mainly a second eigenvalue (to the right) and their dependence with respect to V and m.   相似文献

An improved Poincaré inequality and validity of the Palais-Smale condition are investigated for the energy functional on , 1 < p < ∞, where Ω is a bounded domain in , is a spectral (control) parameter, and is a given function, in Ω. Analysis is focused on the case λ = λ1, where −λ1 is the first eigenvalue of the Dirichlet p-Laplacian Δ p on , λ1 > 0, and on the “quadratization” of within an arbitrarily small cone in around the axis spanned by , where stands for the first eigenfunction of Δ p associated with −λ1.  相似文献

Let II be a bounded symmetric domain, ω ⇉ I a bounded subdomain, and let denote the weighted Bergman space of holomorphic square integrable functions on I. Let Tλ, ω be the Berezin-Toeplitz operator on with symbol χΩ and kth eigenvalue λ k (T λ,Ω). We prove that for δ1 sufficiently close to 0 and δ2 sufficiently close to 1 the estimate
holds for all domains ω satisfying the condition |{z ∈ I |d(z, Ω) < ε}| ≤c|Ω|, where d is the invariant distance on I and |ω| is the invariant volume of ω. The proof is based on the fact that the operator norm of the Berezin transform is smaller than 1. Our main technical tool are some of the formulae for the Berezin transform obtained by Unterberger and Upmeier in [11].  相似文献

We solve the following Dirichlet problem on the bounded balanced domain with some additional properties: For p > 0 and a positive lower semi-continuous function u on ∂Ω with u(z) = uz) for |λ| = 1, z ∈ ∂Ω we construct a holomorphic function f ∈ (Ω) such that for z ∈ ∂Ω, where = {λ ∈ ℂ: |λ| < 1}.   相似文献

The authors consider the problem: -div(p▽u) = uq-1 λu, u > 0 inΩ, u = 0 on (?)Ω, whereΩis a bounded domain in Rn, n≥3, p :Ω→R is a given positive weight such that p∈H1 (Ω)∩C(Ω),λis a real constant and q = 2n/n-2, and study the effect of the behavior of p near its minima and the impact of the geometry of domain on the existence of solutions for the above problem.  相似文献

We establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a domain to admit the (p, β)-Hardy inequality , where d(x) = dist(x, ∂Ω) and . Our necessary conditions show that a certain dichotomy holds, even locally, for the dimension of the complement Ω c when Ω admits a Hardy inequality, whereas our sufficient conditions can be applied in numerous situations where at least a part of the boundary ∂Ω is “thin”, contrary to previously known conditions where ∂Ω or Ω c was always assumed to be “thick” in a uniform way. There is also a nice interplay between these different conditions that we try to point out by giving various examples. The author was supported in part by the Academy of Finland.  相似文献

We study the limit as n goes to +∞ of the renormalized solutions u n to the nonlinear elliptic problems
where Ω is a bounded open set of ℝ N , N≥ 2, and μ is a Radon measure with bounded variation in Ω. Under the assumption of G-convergence of the operators , defined for , to the operator , we shall prove that the sequence (u n ) admits a subsequence converging almost everywhere in Ω to a function u which is a renormalized solution to the problem

Consider the instationary Navier–Stokes system in a smooth bounded domain with vanishing force and initial value . Since the work of Kiselev and Ladyzhenskaya (Am. Math. Soc. Transl. Ser. 2 24:79–106, 1963) there have been found several conditions on u 0 to prove the existence of a unique strong solution with u(0) = u 0 in some time interval [0, T), 0 < T ≤ ∞, where the exponents 2 < s < ∞, 3 < q < ∞ satisfy . Indeed, such conditions could be weakened step by step, thus enlarging the corresponding solution classes. Our aim is to prove the following optimal result with the weakest possible initial value condition and the largest possible solution class: Given u 0qs as above and the Stokes operator A 2, we prove that the condition is necessary and sufficient for the existence of such a local strong solution u. The proof rests on arguments from the recently developed theory of very weak solutions.  相似文献

Let Ω be an open connected subset of for which the imbedding of the Sobolev space W 1,2(Ω) into the space L 2(Ω) is compact. We consider the Neumann eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator in the open subset (Ω) of , where is a Lipschitz continuous homeomorphism of Ω onto (Ω). Then we prove a result of real analytic dependence for symmetric functions of the eigenvalues upon variation of . This paper represents an extension of a part of the work performed by P.D. Lamberti in his PhD Thesis at the University of Padova under the guidance of M. Lanza de Cristoforis.  相似文献

We consider the equation
If Ω is of class C 2, we show that this problem has a non-trivial solution u λ for each λ ∊ (8 π, λ*). The value λ* depends on the domain and is bounded from below by 2 j 0 2 π, where j 0 is the first zero of the Bessel function of the first kind of order zero (λ*≥ 2 j 0 2 π > 8 π). Moreover, the family of solution u λ blows-up as λ → 8 π.  相似文献

The solvability in anisotropic spaces , σ ∈ ℝ+, p, q ∈ (1, ∞), of the heat equation ut − Δu = f in ΩT ≡ (0, T) × Ω is studied under the boundary and initial conditions u = g on ST, u|t=0 = u0 in Ω, where S is the boundary of a bounded domain Ω ⊂ ℝn. The existence of a unique solution of the above problem is proved under the assumptions that and under some additional conditions on the data. The existence is proved by the technique of regularizers. For this purpose the local-in-space solvability near the boundary and near an interior point of Ω is needed. To show the local-in-space existence, the definition of Besov spaces by the dyadic decomposition of a partition of unity is used. This enables us to get an appropriate estimate in a new and promising way without applying either the potential technique or the resolvent estimates or the interpolation. Bibliography: 26 titles. We consider the problem
where Ω is a bounded smooth domain in , 1  <  p< + ∞ if N = 2, if N ≥ 3 and ε is a parameter. We show that if the mean curvature of ∂Ω is not constant then, for ε small enough, such a problem has always a nodal solution u ε with one positive peak and one negative peak on the boundary. Moreover, and converge to and , respectively, as ε goes to zero. Here, H denotes the mean curvature of ∂Ω. Moreover, if Ω is a ball and , we prove that for ε small enough the problem has nodal solutions with two positive peaks on the boundary and arbitrarily many negative peaks on the boundary. We consider the following critical elliptic Neumann problem on , Ω; being a smooth bounded domain in is a large number. We show that at a positive nondegenerate local minimum point Q 0 of the mean curvature (we may assume that Q 0 = 0 and the unit normal at Q 0 is − e N ) for any fixed integer K ≥ 2, there exists a μ K > 0 such that for μ > μ K , the above problem has Kbubble solution u μ concentrating at the same point Q 0. More precisely, we show that u μ has K local maximum points Q 1μ, ... , Q K μ ∈∂Ω with the property that and approach an optimal configuration of the following functional (*) Find out the optimal configuration that minimizes the following functional: where are two generic constants and φ (Q) = Q T G Q with G = (∇ ij H(Q 0)).
