Abstract

The electrical conductivity behavior of polyaniline–poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) (PANI–EVA) blends was variable and dynamic during their storage. It was shown that the apparent concentration of the intrinsically conductive polymer at which a conductivity jump of the blends occurs (Φ c ) is not a constant value over time. The electrical conductivity of the films of low PANI content (below 2.5 wt.%) increased by several (ca. 5) orders of magnitude. It was found that the PANI phase undergoes a flocculation process subsequently resulting in the formation of conductive pathways and a continuous network. Besides, the shape of percolation curves was found to change during storage of the films. Decreased conductivity deviations were registered for blends of low PANI content (<2.5 wt.%), indicating that an improvement (or decreasing number of defects) of the conductive pathways took place within the bulk of the insulating EVA matrix. These results and observed phenomena are discussed by means of the interfacial model for electrically conductive polymer blends. They supported the dispersion/flocculation phase transition within similar composite materials. The phase separation and conductivity jump are attributed to the interfacial interactions between the polymeric constituents. It was shown that the microstructure of the blends consists of highly ordered PANI paths embedded in the insulating EVA matrix. Long fibrils of PANI and interconnected fractal‐like networks were observed. It was found that the sizes of the PANI domains also varied during storage of the films. Due to the spontaneous flocculation of the primary PANI particles, conductive pathways are formed at extremely low percolation threshold (Φ c , loading level ca. 5 × 10?3 wt. fraction). Thus, an important property of the conductive constituent, namely its solid‐state rearrangement, was proved. This PANI self‐organization is also interpreted according to the interfacial model of polymer composites. On the other hand, the competition between self‐organization of the complex of PANI with dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid and crystallization of EVA matrix has resulted in structural changes and formation of continuous conductive networks within the blends, responsible for their significantly increased conductivity.  相似文献

Polypyrrole (PPy) was deposited electrochemically on a platinum plate from a nitric acid solution of pyrrole. The PVC/PPy composite film was finally obtained by casting poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) onto the PPy electrode from a tetrahydrofuran solution of PVC. The prepared composite film was irradiated at 90°C with a low-pressure mercury lamp in the stream of hydrogen gas saturated with steam, and the PVC film was dehydrochlorinated, leading to the formation of conjugated polyene. The electrical conductivity (σ) of the PVC film in the irradiated composite film was reveled: σ=2.51 × 10?5S cm?1. By iodine doping, σ was further enhanced up to 5.04 X 10?3 S cm?1. The tensile strength of the irradiated composite film became larger than that of the original PVC film; i.e., the stress at break was: 461 (composite film); 401 kg cm?2 (PVC). These results were brought about by the doping of radical species to the conjugated polyene. The anion, NO?3, doped during the electrodeposition of PPy was photodecomposed to generate radical NO2 and this species was doped to the polyene, resulting in the formation of electrically conductive PVC and mechanically improved composite film. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Electrical conductivity in a novel nonconjugated conductive polymer, poly(β‐pinene), has been measured as a function of molar concentration of iodine. The conductivity increases about 10 orders of magnitude to a maximum value ?8 × 10?3 S/cm. The molar concentration of iodine, corresponding to saturation, is ?0.85. The optical absorption measurements after light doping have shown two peaks: one at 4.0 eV and the other at 3.1 eV. The first peak is due to the radical cation, and the second due to the charge‐transfer between the double bond and the dopant. As observed in other nonconjugated conductive polymers, the second peak becomes broader and undergoes a red shift, upon higher doping. The FTIR spectroscopic studies have shown that the C?C stretching vibration at 1610 cm?1 and the ?C? H bending vibration band at 728 cm?1 decrease upon doping, because of decrease of double bonds. Photoluminescence studies of poly(β‐pinene) show a maximum value at 360 nm for excitation at 280 nm. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 43: 3695–3698, 2005  相似文献

Conducting polymer composites of polyvinylferrocene and polypyrrole (PVF/PPy) were synthesized chemically by the in situ polymerization of pyrrole in the presence of PVF using FeCl3 as oxidant. Acetic (CH3COOH) and boric (H3BO3) acids were used as the synthesis medium. Effects of the synthesis medium on the properties of the PVF/PPy composite were investigated. The PVF/PPy composites and homopolymers were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and magnetic susceptibility techniques. Conductivity measurements were performed using the four‐probe technique. We found that the conductivities of PVF/PPy‐H3BO3 (1.19 S cm?1) and PVF/PPy‐CH3COOH (4.5×10?1 S cm?1) increased relative to those of the homopolymers of PPy‐H3BO3 (2.1×10?2 S cm?1) and PPy‐CH3COOH (1.2×10?2 S cm?1) due to the interaction of PVF with the pyrrole moiety. The stability of all homopolymers and composites were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis and by conductivity measurements during heating‐cooling cycles. There was a small drop in conductivity caused by the annealing of PVF/PPy composites at 70°C. The conductivity of all samples increased with temperature and exhibited stable electrical behavior with increasing temperature. TGA analysis of samples showed that the composites were more stable than the homopolymers or PVF separately. The magnetic susceptibility values of samples were negative, except for PVF/PPy‐H3BO3. Morphology changes of the composites investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), attributed to synthesis conditions, have a significant effect on their conductivity.  相似文献

In the present study, three different types of hydrogels i.e., (poly (?acrylamide)/alginate (P (AAm)/Alg), poly (acrylamide-N-isopropylacrylamide) (P (AAm-NIPA)), and poly (acrylamide-N-isopropylacrylamide)/alginate (P (AAm-NIPA)/Alg)) were synthesized by acrylamide, alginate, and N-isopropylacrylamide for the entrapment of laccase. The hydrogel-entrapped and free laccase showed optimum temperature of 50 °C for the oxidation of ABTS, but the entrapped laccase showed high temperature, pH, and storage stability as compared to the free enzyme. The K m values of free laccase, (P (AAm)/Alg)-L, (P (AAm-NIPA))-L, and (P (AAm-NIPA)/Alg)-L were found to be 0.13, 0.28, 0.33, and 0.50 mM, respectively. The V max values of free laccase, (P (AAm)/Alg)-L, (P (AAm-NIPA))-L, and (P (AAm-NIPA)/Alg)-L were found to be 22.22?×?102, 5.55?×?102, 5.0?×?102, and 4.54?×?102 mM/min, respectively. The entrapped laccase hydrogels were used for the decolorization of Reactive Violet 1 dye, with 39 to 45 % decolorization efficiency till the 10th cycle.  相似文献

Composites of inherently conductive polypyrrole (PPy) within highly hydrophilic poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)‐based hydrogels (p(HEMA)) have been fabricated and their electrochemical properties investigated. The electrochemical characteristics observed by cyclic voltammetry suggest less facile reduction of PPy within the composite hydrogel compared to electropolymerized PPy, as shown by the shift in the reduction peak potential from ?472 mV for electropolymerized polypyrrole to ?636 mV for the electroconductive composite gel. The network impedance magnitude for the electroconductive hydrogel remains quite low, ca. 100 Ω, even upon approach to DC, over all frequencies and at all offset potentials suggesting retained electronic (bipolaronic) conductivity within the composite. In contrast, sustained application of +0.7 V (vs. Ag/AgCl, 3 M Cl?) for typically 100 min. (conditioning) to reduce the background amperometric current to <1.0 μA, resulted in complete loss of electroactivity. Nyquist plots suggest that sustained application of such a modest potential to the composite hydrogel results in impedance characteristics that resembles p(HEMA) without evidence of the conducting polymer component. PPy composite gels supported a larger ferrocene monocarboxylate diffusivity (Dappt=7.97×10?5 cm2 s?1) compared to electropolymerized PPy (Dappt=5.56×10?5 cm2 s?1), however a marked reduction in diffusivity (Dappt=1.01×10?5 cm2 s?1) was observed with the conditioned hydrogel composite. Cyclic voltammograms in buffer containing H2O2 showed an absence of redox peaks for electrodes coated with PPy‐containing membranes, suggesting possible chemical oxidation of polypyrrole by the oxidant  相似文献

The dielectric and mechanical properties of hybrid polymer nanocomposites of polystyrene/polyaniline/carbon nanotubes coated with polyaniline(PCNTs) have been investigated using impedance analyzer and extensometer. The blends of PS/PANI formed the heterogeneous phase separated morphology in which PCNTs are dispersed uniformly. The incorporation of a small amount of PCNTs into the blend of PS/PANI has remarkably increased the dielectric properties. Similarly, the AC conductivity of PS/PANI is also increased five orders of magnitude from 1.6 × 10~(-10) to 2.0 × 10~(-5) S·cm~(-1) in the hybrid nanocomposites. Such behavior of hybrid nanocomposites is owing to the interfacial polarization occurring due to the presence of multicomponent domains with varying conductivity character of the phases from insulative PS to poor conductor PANI to highly conductive CNTs. Meanwhile, the tensile modulus and tensile strength are also enhanced significantly up to 55% and 160%, respectively, without much loss of ductility for three phase hybrid nanocomposites as compared to the neat PS. Thereby, the hybrid nanocomposites of PS/PANI/_P CNTs become stiffer, stronger and tougher as compared to the neat systems.  相似文献

In this work, acrylamide/itaconic acid copolymeric hydrogels are prepared by free radical polymerization initiated by redox initiators of potassium persulfate and N ,N ,N ′,N ′‐tetramethyl ethylene diamine; N ,N ′methylene bisacrylamide was employed as a crosslinking agent. Aniline monomer was absorbed in the network of poly(acrylamide‐co‐itaconic acid) P(AAm‐co‐IA) hydrogel and followed by gamma radiation induced polymerization at room temperature. The novel semi‐interpenetrating network was comprised of linear polyaniline immersed in P(AAm‐co‐IA) matrix. Electrical conductivity of the hydrogels was measured using four‐probe technique. The conductivities for the prepared hydrogels are found to increase from 5.5 × 10?7 S cm?1 for P(AAm‐co‐IA) alone to 4.4 × 10?3 S cm?1 for semi‐interpenetrating polymer network P(AAm‐co‐IA)/polyaniline. Thus, a new composite hydrogel with good conductive properties also displaying enhanced mechanical strength and pH sensitivity was prepared. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this study, silica/polystyrene/polyaniline (SiO2/PS/PANI) conductive composite particles were synthesized by four sequential reactions. The nanosized SiO2 particles were synthesized from tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) by a sol–gel process with water as the solvent medium, followed by a surface modification with triethoxyvinylsilane; then the surface modified SiO2 particles were used as seeds to synthesize SiO2/PS composite particles with soapless seeded emulsion polymerization. Finally, the SiO2/PS particles were used as seeds to synthesize the SiO2/PS/PANI conductive composite particles. The sol–gel process of SiO2, the effect of surface modification, and several other factors that influenced polymerization of styrene in the soapless seeded emulsion polymerization will be discussed. Either potassium persulfate (KPS) or 2,2′‐azobis(isobutyramidine) dihydrochloride (AIBA) was used as the initiator to synthesize the uniform SiO2/PS particles successfully, and the cross‐section morphology of the SiO2/PS particles was found to be of a core–shell structure, with SiO2 as the core, and PS as the shell. The SiO2/PS particles were well dispersed in many organic solvents. In the following step to synthesize SiO2/PS/PANI conductive composite particles, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) played an important role, specifically, to absorb aniline onto the surfaces of the SiO2/PS particles to carry out the polymerization of aniline over the entire surface of the particles. The conductivity of the SiO2/PS/PANI composite particles approached that of semiconductive materials. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 43: 342–354, 2005  相似文献

Nanostructured conductive polymers can offer analogous environments for extracellular matrix and induce cellular responses by electric stimulation, however, such materials often lack mechanical strength and tend to collapse under small stresses. We prepared electrically conductive nanoporous materials by coating nanoporous cellulose gels (NCG) with polypyrrole (PPy) nanoparticles, which were synthesized in situ from pyrrole monomers supplied as vapor. The resulting NCG/PPy composite hydrogels were converted to aerogels by drying with supercritical CO2, giving a density of 0.41–0.53 g cm?3, nitrogen adsorption surface areas of 264–303 m2 g?1, and high mechanical strength. The NCG/PPy composite hydrogels exhibited an electrical conductivity of up to 0.08 S cm?1. In vitro studies showed that the incorporation of PPy into an NCG enhances the adhesion and proliferation of PC12 cells. Electrical stimulation demonstrated that PC12 cells attached and extended longer neurites when cultured on NCG/PPy composite gels with DBSA dopant. These materials are promising candidates for applications in nerve regeneration, carbon capture, catalyst supports, and many others.  相似文献

Electrically conductive composites were prepared via the chemical oxidative polymerization of the pyrrole monomer in polystyrene (PS) and zinc neutralized sulfonated polystyrene (Zn-SPS) films under supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) conditions. The strong swelling effect of SC-CO2 made polypyrrole (PPy) particles not only form on the surface, but also become incorporated into the film, resulting in a homogeneous structure with a relatively higher conductivity. By comparison, the composite prepared in aqueous solutions shows a skin-core structure and a conductivity of 3 to 4 orders of magnitude lower than that of the former due to the diffusion-controlled process of the pyrrole monomer. The percolation thresholds of PS/PPy and Zn-SPS/PPy composites were 6.2% and 2.7% of the volume fraction of PPy, respectively, much lower than the theoretically predicted value of 16%. Moreover, the conductive composites prepared under SC-CO2 conditions showed higher thermal stability, especially in the high-temperature region. The electrically conductive polypyrrole/dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid/poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) (PPy/DBSA/poly(NIPAAm‐co‐AA)) composite microgels were synthesized by a chemical oxidation of pyrrole in the presence of DBSA as the primary dopant, and poly(NIPAAm‐co‐AA) microgels as the polymeric codopant and template, in which APS was used as the oxidant. It was proposed to prepare “intelligent” polymer microgel particles containing both thermosensitive and electrically conducting properties. The polymerization of pyrrole took place directly inside the microgel networks, leading to formation of composite microgels and the morphology was observed by transmission electron microscope. PPy particles interacted strongly with microgels, as the acid groups of microgels acted as the polymeric codopant. The composite microgels thus formed showed electrically conducting behavior dependent on humidity and temperature. At temperatures lower than lower critical solution temperature, the conductivity decreased with increasing the humidity and a small hysteresis phenomenon was observed. The hysteresis became indistinct when temperature was near volume phase transition temperature. However, after the treatment of high temperature and high humidity, the conductivity increased surprisingly due to the structure reorganization inside the composite microgels. The distinctive functionality of the PPy composite microgels was expected to be utilized in many attractive applications. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fe3O4/polyaniline (PANI) composite hollow spheres were prepared by using sulfonated polystyrene (SPS) microspheres as templates. The sulfonic acid groups were applied to induce absorbing Fe3O4 nanoparticle, and subsequently, conductive PANI was grown. Finally, the polystyrene cores were selectively dissolved to yield composite hollow microspheres with electromagnetic properties. The analysis results indicated that the adsorption of Fe3O4 on template core by electrostatic interaction resulted in magnetic composite microspheres. The conductivity of composite hollow spheres was remarkably increased after polyvinylpyrrolidone modification which favored the growth of PANI on SPS/Fe3O4 and enhanced the integrity of hollow microspheres. The saturated magnetization of the composite hollow microspheres was tuned from 2.7 to 9.1 emu/g, and the conductivity was in the range from 10?2 to 100?S/cm.  相似文献

A novel NiAl double hydroxide@polypyrrole (LDH@PPy) core–shell material was designed and fabricated by a facile in situ oxidative polymerization of pyrrole (Py) monomer. The microstructure and morphology of the LDH@PPy composites were determined by X‐ray diffractometer, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy/transmission electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric and differential thermal, revealing that the polypyrrole (PPy) was successfully coated onto the surface of the NiAl‐LDH (LDH) core and the loading amount of PPy impacted the thickness and the dispersion of the conductive PPy shell. The electrochemical performances of the LDH@PPy composites were also evaluated by cyclic voltammogram, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and galvanostatic charge–discharge measurements. The results indicated that the supercapacitor performances were attributed to the synergy of unique core–shell heterostructure and each individual component, where the LDH core provided the high‐energy storage capacity and the PPy shell with networks had high electronic conductivity. These shorted the ion diffusion pathway and made electrolyte ions more easily accessible for faradic reactions to enhance the electrochemical performance of the LDH@PPy composites. It was found that the LDH@PPy composite (LDH@PPy7) fabricated at 7 mL?L?1 of Py monomer feed exhibiting the best electrochemical performances with high specific capacitance of 437.5 F?g?1 at 2 A?g?1 and excellent capacitance retention of about 91% after 1000 cycles. The work provides a simple approach for designing organic–inorganic core–shell materials with potential application in supercapacitors. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) has been converted to an electrically conductive structure by combined electrochemical and photochemical methods. PVC was cast on a polypyrrole (PPy) film electrode which had been electrochemically prepared. The PVC layer in the laminated PVC/PPy films was first dehydrochlorinated under the illumination of UV light, and the generated polyenes were subsequently doped with I2 and FeCl3. The maximum electrical conductivity achieved for such PVC film was 2.51 X 10?2 and 8.63 10?2 S cm?1 after I2 and FeCl3 doping, respectively. The temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity showed different behavior in higher and lower temperature ranges. In the former (T > 243 K), the T?1 law held, and the activation energy and bandgap were estimated as 0.25 and 0.49 eV, respectively. In the latter (T < 243 K), the conductivity mechanism followed the variable range hopping model (T?1/4 law) in which the radius of the localized state wave function and the density of the localized states at the Fermi level were 1.25 × 103 Å and 1.03 X 1015 eV?1 cm?3, respectively. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

This work describes the preparation of polypyrrole and EPDM rubber blends, PPy/EPDM, by the sorption of pyrrole (vapor phase) in an EPDM matrix containing CuCl2. We investigated the effect of the oxidant particle-size on the sorption and polymerization equilibrium, electrical conductivity, and mechanical properties of the blends. Independently of the CuCl2 concentration and polymerization time, the polypyrrole weight fraction in the blend, Xppy, increases when the oxidant particle-size in changed from 150–250 μm to smaller than 106 μm. For blends containing 50 phr of CuCl2, obtained following 72 h of exposure to pyrrole, an increase in the Young's Modulus (from 2.2 ± 0.2 to 3.9 ± 0.6 MPa) and an increase in the electrical conductivity (from 10?9 to 10?7 S cm?1) was observed when the oxidant particle-size was decreased. Infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning differential calorimetry, and scanning electron microscopy were used in sample characterization. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A 3D Co-based metal–organic framework ( Co-MOF ) with two kinds of large pores filled by free Co2+ ions and ligands was synthesized and characterized. To expand the MOF structure and conductivity, the free Co2+ ions and ligands were exchanged by conductive ionic liquid EtpyBr and photosensitive AgNO3 through single crystal-to-single crystal transformation, which produced structure-changed 3D MOFs Co-MOF-Br and Co-Ag-MOF , which were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Incorporating small quantities of doped polyaniline (PANI) with redox activity into the pores could further tune the stability and conductivity of the three MOFs. The PANI/MOFs all show outstanding electrical conductivity (≈10−2 S cm−1), and PANI/ Co-MOF-Br has the largest p-type Seebeck coefficient of 66.6 μV K−1. PANI/ Co-MOF-Br and PANI/ Co-Ag-MOF have 4 and 15 times higher photocurrent density compared with PANI/ Co-MOF , respectively. This work sheds light on the design of advanced electrically conductive 3D MOFs.  相似文献

Electrically conducting fibers based on coconut fibers (CF) and polyaniline (PANI) were prepared through in situ oxidative polymerization of aniline (ANI) in the presence of CF using iron (III) chloride hexahydrate (FeCl3.6H2O) or ammonium persulfate (APS) as an oxidant. The PANI-coated coconut fibers (CF-PANI) displayed various morphologies, electrical conductivities and percentages of PANI on the CF surface. For both systems, a PANI conductive layer was present on the CF surface, which was responsible for an electrical conductivity of around 1.5 × 10−1 and 1.9 × 10−2 S cm−1 for composites prepared with FeCl3.6H2O and APS, respectively; values that are similar to that of pure PANI. In order to modify the structure and properties of polyurethane derived from castor oil (PU) both CF-PANI and pure PANI were used as conductive additives. The PU/CF-PANI composites exhibited higher electrical conductivity than pure PU and PU/PANI blends. Additionally, the PU/CF-PANI composites showed a variation in electrical resistivity according to the compressive stress applied, indicating that these materials could be applied for pressure-sensitive applications.  相似文献

Three types of conducting polymers, polyaniline (PANI), poly(N-methylaniline) (PNMA), poly(N-ethylaniline) (PNEA) were electrochemically deposited on pencil graphite electrode (PGE) surfaces characterized as electrode active materials for supercapacitor applications. The obtained films were electrochemically characterized using different electrochemical methods. Redox parameters, electro-active characteristics, and electrostability of the polymer films were investigated via cyclic voltammetry (CV). Doping types of the polymer films were determined by the Mott-Schottky method. Electrochemical capacitance properties of the polymer film coating PGE (PGE/PANI, PGE/PNMA, and PGE/PNEA) were investigated by the CV and potentiostatic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods in a 0.1 M H2SO4 aqueous solution. Thus, capacitance values of the electrodes were calculated. Results show that PGE/PANI, PGE/PNMA, and PGE/PNEA exhibit maximum specific capacitances of 131.78 F g?1 (≈ 436.50 mF cm?2), 38.00 F g?1 (≈ 130.70 mF cm?2), and 16.50 F g?1 (≈ 57.83 mF cm?2), respectively. Moreover, charge-discharge capacities of the electrodes are reported and the specific power (SP) and specific energy (SE) values of the electrodes as supercapacitor materials were calculated using repeating chronopotentiometry.  相似文献

Composite films of polyethylene (PE) and polypyrrole (PPy) were prepared by polymerization of PPy on an ultradrawn polyethylene film with high modulus and high strength in ferric chloride (FeCl3) aqueous solution. The electrical conductivity of the composite film was found to be related to the polymerization conditions, such as polymerization temperature, polymerization time, the concentration and the oxidation potential of the FeCl3 solution. Scanning electron microscopy, FTIR and 13C NMR spectra were used to elucidate the morphological and structural variations of PPy prepared under different conditions, which lead to the differences in the electrical properties of the resultant composite films. The best electrical conductivity of the composite was about 5.5 S/cm for the film prepared under optimum conditions. The Young's modulus and the tensile strength reached 80 GPa and 3.2 GPa, respectively, which indicated the successful production of a conductive polymer with high strength and high modulus.  相似文献
