A red-emitting phosphor, Eu(3+)-doped Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7), was synthesized by the conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analyses confirmed the pure crystalline phase of Whitlockite-type structure. The excitation spectra of Eu(3+) doped Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7) were measured in the VUV and UV region indicating an efficient energy transfer process from the host and Gd(3+) to Eu(3+) ions. Upon excitation with VUV and UV radiation, the phosphor showed strong red emission around 611 nm corresponding to the forced electric dipole (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) transition of Eu(3+) ions. The VUV- and UV-excited luminescence spectra of Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7):Eu(3+) together with the dependence of the integrated emission intensities on the doping levels were investigated. The Eu(3+) ions were investigated by a tunable laser as an excitation source. The excitation spectra of (7)F(0)→(5)D(0) transitions suggest that there are two families of inequivalent sites for Eu(3+) in this host. The concentration quenching and crystallographic site-occupancy of Eu(3+) ions in Ca(9)LiGd(2/3)(PO(4))(7) host were discussed on the basis of the site selective excitation and emission spectra, the luminescence decay and its crystal structure.  相似文献

Well crystallized nanoplates of the (Y(0.95-x)Gd(x)Eu(0.05))(2)(OH)(5)NO(3)·nH(2)O ternary layered rare-earth hydroxides (LRHs), synthesized hydrothermally, have been investigated with emphasis on the effects of Gd(3+) substitution for Y(3+) on the structural features and optical properties. Characterizations of the materials were achieved by the combined techniques of XRD, FT-IR, TEM, DTA/TG, and optical spectroscopies. The results showed that Gd(3+) substitution leads to linearly expanded ab plane, shortened interlayer distance (c/2), and reduced hydration (smaller n value) of the crystal structure. As a consequence, the Ln(3+) partially shifts from the C(4v) to C(1) site symmetries and thus leads to systematically altered photoluminescence behaviors. Under the (7)F(0)→(5)L(6) transition excitation of Eu(3+) at 394 nm, both the (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) to (5)D(0)→(7)F(4) and the 595 nm (5)D(0)→(7)F(1) to 590 nm (5)D(0)→(7)F(1) intensity ratios linearly increase towards a higher Gd(3+) content. The incorporated Gd(3+) cations selectively sensitize emission from the C(1)-site Eu(3+) and produce a new charge transfer (CT) excitation band at ~254 nm. With this, the desired 615-nm red emission is obtainable either under intra-4f(6) transition excitation of Eu(3+) or by exciting the CT band. The materials have similar fluorescence lifetimes of 0.85 ± 0.05 ms for the 615-nm emission, irrespective of the Gd(3+) content and excitation wavelength.  相似文献

One-dimensional La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) microfibers were fabricated by a simple and cost-effective electrospinning method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), photoluminescence (PL) and low voltage cathodoluminescence (CL) as well as kinetic decay were used to characterize the resulting samples. SEM and TEM results indicated that the diameter of the microfibers annealed at 1000 °C for 3 h was 200-245 nm. The microfibers were further composed of fine and closely linked nanoparticles. La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) phosphors showed the characteristic emission of Ce(3+) (5d → 4f), Eu(3+) ((5)D(0)→(7)F(J)) and Tb(3+) ((5)D(3,4)→(7)F(J)) under ultraviolet excitation and low-voltage electron beams (3-5 kV) excitation. An energy transfer from Ce(3+) to Tb(3+) was observed in the La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ce(3+), Tb(3+) phosphor under ultraviolet excitation and low-voltage electron beam excitation. Luminescence mechanisms were proposed to explain the observed phenomena. Blue, red and green emission can be realized in La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) microfibers by changing the doping ions. So the La(9.33)(SiO(4))(6)O(2): Ln(3+) (Ln = Ce, Eu, Tb) phosphors have potential applications in full-color field emission displays.  相似文献

Eu(3+) and/or Tb(3+)-doped CaYAlO(4) phosphor samples were synthesized by Pechini-type sol-gel method. X-Ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), photoluminescence (PL) and cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra were used to characterize the samples. For CaYAlO(4):Tb(3+), it is shown that the Tb(3+)-doping concentration has a significant effect on the (5)D(3)/(5)D(4) emission intensity of Tb(3+), which is attributed to the cross relaxation from (5)D(3) to (5)D(4). Under the 4f(8)→ 4f(7)5d excitation of Tb(3+) or low-voltage electron beams excitation, the CaYAlO(4):Tb(3+) phosphors show tunable luminescence from blue to cyan, and then to green with the change of Tb(3+)-doping concentration. The CaYAlO(4):Eu(3+) samples exhibit a reddish-orange emission of Eu(3+) corresponding to (5)D(0,1)→(7)F(0,1,2,3) transitions. Furthermore, a white emission can be realized in the single phase CaYAlO(4) host by reasonably adjusting the doping concentrations of Tb(3+) and Eu(3+) under low-voltage electron beams excitation. Compared with the commercial blue (Y(2)SiO(5):Ce(3+)) and green (ZnO:Zn) phosphors, CaYAlO(4):0.1%Tb(3+) and CaYAlO(4):5%Tb(3+) phosphors have higher CL intensity and stability under continuous electron bombardment. Due to the excellent CL properties and good CIE chromaticity coordinates, the as-prepared Tb(3+)/Eu(3+)-doped CaYAlO(4) nanocrystalline phosphors have potential application in FEDs devices.  相似文献

Gd(2)O(2)S:Ln(3+) (Ln = Eu, Tb) submicrospheres were successfully prepared through a facile and mild solvothermal method followed by a subsequent heat treatment. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results demonstrate that all the diffraction peaks of the samples can be well indexed to the pure hexagonal phase of Gd(2)O(2)S. The energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), element analysis, and FT-IR results show that the precursors are composed of the Gd, Eu, O, S, C, H, and N elements. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results show that these spheres are actually composed of randomly aggregated nanoparticles. The formation mechanism for the Gd(2)O(2)S:Ln(3+)(Ln = Eu, Tb) spheres has been proposed on an isotropic growth mechanism. Under ultraviolet excitation, Gd(2)O(2)S:Ln(3+)(Ln = Eu, Tb) spheres show red and green emission corresponding to the (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) transition of the Eu(3+) ions and the (5)D(4)→(7)F(5) transition of the Tb(3+) ions. Furthermore, this synthetic route may have potential applications for fabricating other lanthanide oxysulfides.  相似文献

Eu(2+)-doped monophosphates NaSrPO(4) and KBaPO(4) with the β-K(2)SO(4) structure were synthesized using the conventional high temperature solid state reaction. The X-ray powder diffraction, photoluminescence excitation, and emission spectra and decay curves were measured. The phosphors can be efficiently excited by UV-visible light from 220 to 430 nm to realize emission in the visible range. The natures of the Eu(2+) emission, e.g., the chromaticity coordinates, the Stokes shifts, and the luminescence absolute quantum efficiencies, were reported. The luminescence quenching temperatures and the thermal activation energies for NaSrPO(4):Eu(2+) and KBaPO(4):Eu(2+) were obtained from the temperature dependent (10-435 K) luminescence intensities and decay curves. KBaPO(4):Eu(2+) presents only one emission center; however, Eu(2+) ions have a "disordered environment" in NaSrPO(4) lattices. The relationship between the luminescence thermal stabilities and the crystal structures was discussed. The crystallographic occupations of rare earth ions doped in these hosts were analyzed by the site-selective emission spectra and the excitation spectra of Eu(3+) ions in the (7)F(0)→(5)D(0) transitions using a pulsed, tunable, and narrow-band dye laser. In KBaPO(4), the Eu(3+) ions could be distributed in the host with a high "ordered state" in only one site in the lattices. However, the multiple site structure of Eu(3+) ions with highly disordered distributions in NaSrPO(4) lattices was suggested.  相似文献

Nanosized rare earth phosphovanadate phosphors (Y(P,V)O(4):Eu(3+)) have been prepared by applying the organic-inorganic polymeric precursors methodology. Luminescent powders with tetragonal structure and different vanadate concentrations (0%, 1%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 50%, and 100%, with regard to the phosphate content) were then obtained for evaluation of their structural and spectroscopic properties. The solids were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, vibrational spectroscopy (Raman and infrared), and electronic spectroscopy (emission, excitation, luminescence lifetimes, chromaticity, quantum efficiencies, and Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters). The solids exhibited very intense (5)D(0)→(7)F(J) Eu(3+) transitions, and it was possible to control the luminescent characteristics, such as excitation maximum, lifetime and emission colour, through the vanadium(V) concentration. The observed luminescent properties correlated to the characteristics of the chemical environments around the Eu(3+) ions with respect to the composition of the phosphovanadates. The Eu(3+) luminescence spectroscopy results indicated that the presence of larger vanadium(V) amounts in the phosphate host lattice led to more covalent and polarizable chemical environments. So, besides allowing for control of the luminescent properties of the solids, the variation in the vanadate concentration in the obtained YPO(4):Eu(3+) phosphors enabled the establishment of a strict correlation between the observable spectroscopic features and the chemical characteristics of the powders.  相似文献

When Eu(3+) ions occupy Ca(2+) sites of CaMoO(4), which has a body centered tetragonal structure with inversion symmetry, only the magnetic dipole transition ((5)D(0)→(7)F(1)) should be allowed according to Judd-Ofelt theory. Even if there are a few distortions in the Eu(3+) environment, its intensity should be more than that of the electric dipole transition ((5)D(0)→(7)F(2)). We report here the opposite effect experimentally and ascribe this to the polarizability effect of the MoO(4) tetrahedron, which is neighboring to EuO(8) (symmetric environment). The contribution of the energy transfer process from the Mo-O charge transfer band to Eu(3+) and the role of Eu(3+) over the surface of the particle could be distinguished when luminescence decay processes were measured at two different excitations (250 and 398 nm). Further, the luminescence intensities and lifetimes increase significantly with increasing heat-treatment temperature of the doped samples. This is attributed to the reduction of H(2)O from the surface of the particles and a non-radiative process after heat treatment.  相似文献

One-dimensional Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO(4))(6)O: Ln(3+) (Ln=Eu, Tb) microfibers were fabricated by a simple and cost-effective electrospinning method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) confirmed that the fibers were composed of hexagonal Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO4)(6)O phase. Thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC) results showed that the Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO4)(6)O phase began to crystallize at 740°C. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results indicated that the diameter of as-prepared microfibers ranged from 390 to 900 nm and the diameter of the microfibers annealed at 1000°C ranged from to 120 to 260 nm. Under ultraviolet and low-voltage electron beams (3-5 kV) excitation, the Ca(4)Y(6)(SiO(4))(6)O: Ln(3+) (Ln=Eu, Tb) samples showed the red and green emission, corresponding to (5)D(0)→(7)F(2) transition of Eu(3+) and (5)D(4)→(7)F(5) transition of Tb(3+), respectively.  相似文献

Eu(3+) doped Y(OH)(3)@β-NaYF(4) core-shell nanotubes were prepared by an in situ synthesis method. The photoluminescence properties were studied under different excitation wavelengths. When the excitation wavelength is 363, 380, and 397 nm, the spectral configurations are similar, and are different from that under 414 nm excitation. The peak location of (7)F(0)→(5)D(3) shifted with excitation wavelength, indicating that the nanocrystals have multiple luminescence centers or emitting states.  相似文献

A novel red-emitting Ba(2)Tb(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu phosphor possessing a broad excitation band in the near-ultraviolet (n-UV) region was synthesized by the solid-state reaction. Versatile Ba(2)Tb(BO(3))(2)Cl compound has a rigid open framework, which can offer two types of sites for various valence's cations to occupy, and the coexistence of Eu(2+)/Eu(3+) and the red-emitting luminescence from Eu(3+) with the aid of efficient energy transfer of Eu(2+)-Eu(3+)(Tb(3+)) and Tb(3+)-Eu(3+) have been investigated. Ba(2)Tb(BO(3))(2)Cl emits green emission with the main peak around 543 nm, which originates from (5)D(4) → (7)F(5) transition of Tb(3+). Ba(2)Tb(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu shows bright red emission from Eu(3+) with peaks around 594, 612, and 624 nm under n-UV excitation (350-420 nm). The existence of Eu(2+) can be testified by the broad-band excitation spectrum, UV-vis reflectance spectrum, X-ray photoelectron spectrum, and Eu L(3)-edge X-ray absorption spectrum. Decay time and time-resolved luminescence measurements indicated that the interesting luminescence behavior should be ascribed to efficient energy transfer of Eu(2+)-Eu(3+)(Tb(3+)) and Tb(3+)-Eu(3+) in Ba(2)Tb(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu phosphors.  相似文献

Gd(2)(WO(4))(3) doped with Eu(3+) or Tb(3+) thin phosphor films with dot patterns have been prepared by a combinational method of sol-gel process and microcontact printing. This process utilizes a PDMS elastomeric mold as the stamp to create heterogeneous pattern on quartz substrates firstly and then combined with a Pechini-type sol-gel process to selectively deposit the luminescent phosphors on hydrophilic regions, in which a Gd(2)(WO(4))(3):Ln(3+) (Ln=Eu, Tb) precursor solutions were employed as ink. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence (PL) spectra, as well as low voltage cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra were carried out to characterize the obtained samples. Under ultraviolet excitation and low-voltage electron beams excitation, the Gd(2)(WO(4))(3):Eu(3+) samples exhibit a strong red emission arising from Eu(3+)(5)D(0,1,2)-(7)F(1,2) transitions, while the Gd(2)(WO(4))(3):Tb(3+) samples show the green emission coming from the characteristic emission of Tb(3+) corresponding to (5)D(4)-(7)F(6,5,4,3) transitions. The results show that the patterning of rare earth-doped phosphors through combining microcontact printing with a Pechini-type sol-gel route has potential for field emission displays (FEDs) applications.  相似文献

Yttrium tungstate precursors with novel 3D hierarchical architectures assembled from nanosheet building blocks were successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method with the assistance of sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate (SDBS). After calcination, the precursors were easily converted to Y(2)(WO(4))(3) without an obvious change in morphology. The as-prepared precursors and Y(2)(WO(4))(3) were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, respectively. The results reveal that the morphology and dimensions of the as-prepared precursors can be effectively tuned by altering the amounts of organic SDBS and the reaction time, and the possible formation mechanism was also proposed. Upon ultraviolet (UV) excitation, the emission of Y(2)(WO(4))(3):x mol% Eu(3+) microcrystals can be tuned from white to red, and the doping concentration of Eu(3+) has been optimized. Furthermore, the up-conversion (UC) luminescence properties as well as the emission mechanisms of Y(2)(WO(4))(3):Yb(3+)/Ln(3+) (Ln = Er, Tm, Ho) microcrystals were systematically investigated, which show green (Er(3+), (4)S(3/2), (2)H(11/2)→(4)I(15/2)), blue (Tm(3+), (1)G(4)→(3)H(6)) and yellow (Ho(3+), (5)S(2)→(5)I(8)) luminescence under 980 nm NIR excitation. Moreover, the doping concentration of the Yb(3+) has been optimized under a fixed concentration of Er(3+) for the UC emission of Y(2)(WO(4))(3):Yb(3+)/Er(3+).  相似文献

The Tb(3+) and Eu(3+) doped amorphous zinc benzoate were prepared. Their infrared absorption, emission and excitation spectra were measured. The luminescence mechanisms of Tb(3+) and Eu(3+) in the amorphous substrate were discussed. The bonding modes of OCO group to Zn(2+) ion have two of symmetric and asymmetric bridging bidentate. The energy of the S(1) pi,pi* excited state of benzene ring can be transferred to Tb(3+) and Eu(3+) ion, and results in characteristic emission from the 5D(4)-->(7)F(j) of Tb(3+) and 5D(0)-->(7)F(j) of Eu(3+), respectively.  相似文献

Decay curves and energy level diagrams have been plotted to evaluate the life times and to analyze the emission mechanism.  相似文献

A new method was used to obtain Eu(3+)-doped LaOF nanocrystals. The obtained nanocrystals were synthesized for the first time using a modified Pechini sol-gel method. The products were analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction and the Rietveld method. Optimal conditions for the synthesis were found. Luminescent properties of the tetragonal and rhombohedral LaOF:Eu(3+) nanocrystals were investigated by collecting excitation and luminescence spectra. The most effective dopant concentrations in both hosts were found. Luminescent lifetimes were also measured. The time-resolved luminescent traces showed both a growth and a decay, which pointed to energy transfer processes between Eu(3+) ions in the LaOF host. In order to explain these phenomena, an adequate mechanism has been proposed. Intensity parameters Ω(2), Ω(4) and quantum efficiencies were calculated using the Judd-Ofelt theory, allowing for an extensive study of the luminescent properties of Eu(3+) ion in the LaOF matrix.  相似文献

Re-dispersible Tb(3+) doped LaPO(4) nanorods have been prepared using ethylene glycol (EG) as a capping agent as well as reaction medium at a relatively low temperature of 150 °C. The X-ray diffraction study reveals that all the doped samples are well crystalline with a monoclinic structure of the LaPO(4) phase. The luminescence intensity of (5)D(4)→(7)F(5) transition at 543 nm (green) is more prominent than that of (5)D(4)→(7)F(6) transition at 487 nm (blue) for all the samples. This is related to the polarizing effect from [PO(4)](3-) to the Tb(3+) site. Concentration dependent luminescence study shows that the luminescence intensity of Tb(3+) increases up to 10 at.% and decreases above this. This is due to the concentration quenching effect arising from cross relaxation among Tb(3+)-Tb(3+) ions. The results show that nanoparticles prepared in EG medium gives an enhanced luminescence compared to that prepared in water. This is attributed to the multiphonon relaxation effect from O-H groups surrounding over nanoparticles as well as the extent of increase of agglomeration among particles for samples prepared in water. Significant enhancement in the emission of Tb(3+) is also observed when Ce(3+) is used as the sensitizer in LaPO(4):Tb(3+)nanorods. The optimum concentration of Ce(3+) for maximum luminescence is found to be 7 at.% in Ce(3+) sensitized LaPO(4):Tb(3+) (5 at.%). Based on the energy transfer process from Ce(3+) to Tb(3+), the luminescence of Tb(3+) can be switched OFF and ON by performing oxidation and reduction of Ce(3+)?Ce(4+) using KMnO(4) and ascorbic acid, respectively. The samples are re-dispersible in water, methanol and can be incorporated into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films. They show a dark green emission under ultraviolet radiation.  相似文献

LaCO(3)OH nano/microcrystals with a variety of morphologies/sizes including nanoflakes, microflowers, nano/microrhombuses, two-double microhexagrams sandwichlike microspindles, and peach-nucleus-shaped microcrystals have been synthesized via a facile homogeneous precipitation route under mild conditions. A series of controlled experiments indicate that the pH values in the initial reaction systems, carbon sources, and simple ions (NH(4)(+) and Na(+)) were responsible for the shape determination of the LaCO(3)OH products. A possible formation mechanism for these products with diverse architectures has been presented. After annealing at suitable temperatures, LaCO(3)OH was easily converted to La(2)O(2)CO(3) and La(2)O(3) with the initial morphologies. A systematic study on the photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence properties of Eu(3+)- or Tb(3+)-doped La(2)O(2)CO(3)/La(2)O(3) samples has been performed in detail. The excitation and site-selective emission spectra were recorded to investigate the microstructure, site symmetry, and difference in the (5)D(0) → (7)F(2) transition of Eu(3+) ions in La(2)O(2)CO(3) and La(2)O(3) host lattices. In addition, the dependence of the luminescent intensity on the morphology for the as-prepared La(2)O(2)CO(3)/La(2)O(3):Ln(3+) (Ln = Eu, Tb) samples has been investigated. The ability of generating diverse morphologies and multiemitting colors for different rare-earth activator ion (Ln = Eu, Tb) doped La(2)O(2)CO(3)/La(2)O(3) nano/microstructures provides a great opportunity for the systematic evaluation of morphology-dependent luminescence properties, as well as the full exploration of their application in many types of color display fields.  相似文献
