The impurity contribution to the resistivity in zero field (T) of dilute hexagonal single crystals of ZnMn, CdMn and MgMn has been studied in the mK range on samples cut parallel () and perpendicular () to thec-axis, using a SQUID technique for the measurements. Typical spin glass behavior is found in (T) as well as (T) for all alloys, with Kondo like logarithmic increases at higher temperatures and maxima atT m at lower temperatures, indicating the influence of impurity interactions. The differences in the corresponding isotropic resistivity poly(T) between the three systems can qualitatively be understood within the framework of a theoretical model by Larsen, describing (T) as a function of universal quantitiesT/T K and RKKY/T K , where RKKY is the RKKY-interaction strength andT K the Kondo temperature. With respect to the two lattice directions studied, the behavior of (T and (T is anisotropic in the Kondo regime as well as in the range where ordering becomes important. While the anisotropy in the Kondo slope can be understood by an anisotropic unitarity limit, the understanding of the anisotropy in region where impurity interactions are important remains problematic.Dedicated to Prof. Dr. S. Numerical simulations are done of Langevin dynamics for a uniform-orderparameter, field-swept Landau model,= –|a/2|m 2+|b/4|m 4mh(t) , to study hysteresis effects. The field is swept at a constant rateh(t)=h(0)+ht. The stochastic jump values of the field {hJ from an initially prepared metastable minimumm(0) are recorded, on passage to a global minimum m(). The results are: (a) The mean jump¯h J(h) increases (hysteresis loop widens) with h, confirming a previous theoretical criterion based on rate competition between field-sweep and inverse mean first-passage time (FPT); (b) The broad jump distribution(h J,h) is related to intrinsically large FPT fluctuations ( 22)/ 2 O(1), and can be quantitatively understood. Possible experimental tests of the ideas are indicated.  相似文献

The statistical properties of a parametric amplifier and a frequency converter are studied by means of quantum mechanical methods. The Schrödinger picture and the P-representation of the density matrix are used. Carrying out the Fourier transformation of the Liouville equation a partial differential equation for a generating function is obtained. The inverse Fourier transform of a solution of this equation is a time-dependent P-representationPN( 1, 2,t). For the parametric amplifier a relation is derived which enables us to compute the functionPA( 1, 2,t) = =1< 1, 2/ 1> is shown thatPA is classical distribution ifPN( 1, 2,0) is a positive distribution, while the P-representationPN( 1, 2,t) need not exist as a distribution and the P-representationPN( 1, 2,t) for the parametric frequency converter is constant along classical trajectories. The author wishes to thank Dr. J. Peina for stimulating discussions.  相似文献

We investigate one-dimensional lattice systems with (symmetric) nearest neighbor transfer ratesW n, n+1 which are independently distributed according to a probability density(w). For two general classes of(w), we rigorously determine the asymptotic behavior of the relevant single site Green function 0() near=0, and obtain exact results for the long time decay of the initial probability amplitude and for the low energy density of states. A scaling hypothesis, accurately confirmed by computer simulations, is used to relate the low frequency hopping conductivity() uniquely to 0(–i), and we conjecture that the resulting asymptotic behavior for() is also exact. The critical exponents associated with the various asymptotic laws depend on(w) and show a crossover from universal to non-universal behavior. Comparison is made with the results of several approximate treatments.  相似文献

We study the almost Mathieu operator: (H , , u)(n)=u(n+1)+u(n-1)+ cos (2n+)u(n), onl 2 (Z), and show that for all ,, and (Lebesgue) a.e. , the Lebesgue measure of its spectrum is precisely |4–2|. In particular, for ||=2 the spectrum is a zero measure cantor set. Moreover, for a large set of irrational 's (and ||=2) we show that the Hausdorff dimension of the spectrum is smaller than or equal to 1/2.Work partially supported by the GIF  相似文献

Intense picosecond light pulses of a mode-locked Nd: glass laser at L =1054 nm (fundamental wavelength) and SH =527 nm (second harmonic wavelength) are passed through a sample of D2O under self-focusing conditions. Spectrally structured superbroadened, spatially bell-shaped emission in the forward direction is obtained. Primary generation processes are pump-pulse-degenerate stimulated parametric four-photon interaction (1 + 1 3 + 4) and stimulated Raman scattering (1 R + ), which occur concurrently (1= L or SH angular pump frequency, #x03C9; R first Stokes frequency, #x03C9; signal frequency, #x03C9;3 signal frequency, #x03C9;4 idler frequency). The parametric four-photon interaction occurs under collinear non-phase-matched conditions and under longitudinally phase-matched, transversally non-phase-matched (erenkov-like) conditions. Subsequent interaction processes are pump-pulse-nondegenerate four-photon interaction of the type 1 + R 3 + 4, coherent antiStokes Raman scattering (CARS, 1 + 14 3), inverse Raman scattering ( A + 1 + ), and cascading light up-conversion of the type 1 + (i) R (i+1).  相似文献

An attempt has been made here to study the MHD effects on the slow motion of a viscous, incompressible and conducting fluid between two parallel porous infinite plane walls in presence of a transverse magnetic field varying periodically with time. LetH l be the Hamiltonian in aP()2 theory with sharp space cutoff in the interval (–l/2,l/2). LetE l =inf(H l ), (l)=–E l /l, and let l be the vacuum forH l . discuss properties of (l) and l . In particular, asl, there are finite constants <0 and such that (l), ((l)–)l, and hence (l)=+/l+o(l –1). Moreover exp(–c 1 l) l 1exp(–c 2 l) forc 1,c 2 positive constants, where l 1 is theL 1(Q, d0) norm of 1 with respect to the Fock vacuum measure. We analyze the long time behavior of an infinitely extended system of particles in one dimension, evolving according to the Newton laws and interacting via a non-negative superstable Kac potential (x)=(x), (0, 1]. We first prove that the velocity of a particle grows at most linearly in time, with rate of order . We next study the motion of a fast particle interacting with a background of slow particles, and we prove that its velocity remains almost unchanged for a very long time (at least proportional to –1 times the velocity itself). Finally we shortly discuss the so called Vlasov limit, when time and space are scaled by a factor .  相似文献

The influence of the vacuum radiation field on the harmonically bound electron (frequency 0) is considered. The electron is minimally coupled to the blackbody radiation field. The dynamics of the system is exactly solvable. The high (k B T0) and low (k B T0) temperature expansions of the kinetic and potential energy are given. In the high temperature regime theT 2-dependent dynamic Stark shift is found whereas in the low temperature regime there is no temperature dependent shift. The position correlation function of the electron shows in the low temperature regime a unclassical algebraic decay (t –4,t/k B T).  相似文献

The alpha particle spectra from ternary fission of U235 have been investigated in the thermal and the resonance neutron energy regions. The resonance neutrons have been obtained by passing the reactor neutron flux through a boron filter. A silicon surface barrier detector telescope technique for alpha particle detection has been used. In the resonance neutron energy region the ratio f / f has been found to be 1·02 ± 0·2 times the value of f / f in the thermal region. The non-gaussian tail of the LRA energy distribution has been observed. The authors are indebted to Dr. I.Wilhelm, Mrs. M.Pospíilová, Mr. J.vanda for their kindly help in the experimental data handling and to Mr. V.Kvítek for his assistance during the experiment.  相似文献

Calculations of internal conversion coefficients (ICC) of the E1–E4 and M1–M4 transitions for nuclei in ions show that the relative changes i / i of the ICC i for deep inner subshells can differ significantly from the relative changes i/i of the electron densities i at the nucleus. For the K conversion i/ i are many times greater than i/i. Especially large deviations of i/ i are characteristic of transitions of high multipolarity; however, for the M1 transitions they can also be significant. Illustrations of various dependencies of i/ iare presented for the conversion in the regionZ-50.  相似文献

We study, via computer simulations, the fluctuations in the net electric charge in a two-dimensional, one component plasma (OCP) with uniform background charge density –e in a region inside a much larger overall neutral system. Setting e=1, this is the same as the fluctuations in N , the number of mobile particles of charge e. As expected, the distribution of N has, for large , a Gaussian form with a variance which grows only as ^||, where || is the length of the perimeter of . The properties of this system depend only on the coupling parameter =kT, which is the same as the reciprocal temperature in our units. Our simulations show that when the coupling parameter increases, ^() decreases to an asymptotic value ^()^(2)/2 which is equal (or very close) to that obtained for the corresponding variance of particles on a rigid triangular lattice. Thus, for large , the characteristic length L=2^/ associated with charge fluctuations behaves very differently from that of the Debye length, D1/ , which it approaches as 0. The pair correlation function of the OCP is also studied.  相似文献

For a one-dimensional configurational glass model we have performed molecular dynamical calculations. The Newtonian equation of motion was solved numerically including a damping term. The residual energye res() as a function of the damping constant , exhibits a power law behavioure res(),0.061; in an intermediate range of . This behaviour can be explained as the freezing of a certain type of two level systems with an excitation energy and a barrier heightB. The exponent is approximately equal to /B. This relationship is justified analytically.Dedicated to Professor Harry Thomas on the occasion of his 60th birthday  相似文献

We investigate the Finkelstein-Misner geons for a non-simply-connected space-time manifold (M, g 0). We use relations between different Lorentzian structures unequivalent tog 0 and topological properties ofM given by the Morse theory. It implies that to some pieces of geons we have to associate Wheeler's worm-holes. Geons that correspond to time-orientable Lorentz structures are related tog 0 by Morse functions that describe the attaching of a handle of index one. In the case of geons associated to time-nonorientable Lorentzian structures, appropriate handles are related to loops along which the notion of time reverses. If we assume electromagnetic properties of geons, then only four species, v, e, p, m, of different geons can exist and geon m has to decay according to mv+p+e.  相似文献

Physical principles, design and operation characteristics of a negative mass cyclotron resonance maser inp-type germanium are considered in this paper. The formation of anisotropic inverted distributions of negative effective mass heavy holes in strong electric and magnetic fieldsE H [001], resulting in negative conductivity in the millimetre and submillimetre wavelength ranges, is discussed. The generation is observed at 0.9 to 8mm in low compensated germanium samples with the hole concentration rangeN 0 2×1012 to 2×1014 cm–3 at low temperaturesT 25 K in electric fieldsE 40 to 350Vcm–1. The maser frequency is tuned by the magnetic field corresponding to a cyclotron resonance frequency of carriers with an effective mass ofm c 0.4m 0. The spectral width of the emission in single mode operation does not exceed several megahertz. A pulse duration of 1 to 200 s and a repetition rate off rep 1 to 200 Hz has been obtained limited by sample heating. Possibilities of improving the maser characteristics inp-Ge as well as in other AIII Bv semiconductors and the perspectives of new frequency tuning methods due to the application of uniaxial stress and magnetic field are demonstrated.  相似文献

The flute instabilities of a cold magnetoactive plasma with radially dependent density and strong azimuthal streams of particles (ions) are studied. The effect of non-zero perpendicular temperatureT of the ions on these oscillations is investigated. For systems withT 0, the continuation of drift-cyclotron instability in a strongly inhomogeneous plasma is found. Further, the stability of electron plasma oscillations (2 pe 2 cos2 ) is investigated. The authors are indebted to V. KopeckS, J. Teichmann and J. Vàclavik for discussions.  相似文献

Kinetics of phase transitions are investigated in systems with nonconserved one-component order parameter (i.e., generalized time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau models ind dimensions). The correct static critical behavior as well as fluctuation effects on the kinetics are incorporated by a suitable adaptation of the theory on spinodal decomposition by Langer, Baron and Miller. Both the case of quenches from temperaturesT above to below the critical pointT c and the case of magnetic field changesH from positive to negative values are treated, and both time-dependent order parameter m() and structure factorS(q, ) are obtained numerically ford=2, 3. In the case of quenches atH=0, we find that m()0 andS(q, ) —S(q, ) exp(– 1/2/7.2) , withS(q, )q –2. In the case of field changes we find that forH not exceeding some critical valueH * the system is trapped in a metastable state with infinite lifetime. In contrast to the meanfield-spinodal, the susceptibility does not seem to diverge atH *. These results are compared with other treatments, in particular the Monte Carlo simulations of kinetic Ising models by Binder and Müller-Krumbhaar. While our theory describes some properties of the metastable states reasonably,H * distinctly exceeds the observed limit of metastability. We argue that the present theory does not take into account nucleation fluctuations, and also fails to describe correctly the domain growth in the late stages of the relaxation. Contrary to Langer et al. we suggest that universality holds for nonlinear relaxation and spinodal decomposition nearT c .Supported in part by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Sonderforschungsbereich 130  相似文献

A one-dimensional kinetic Ising model with Glauber dynamics subjected to a slow continuous quench to zero temperature is studied. For a rather general class of cooling schemes, described by a time-dependent temperatureT(t), the mean domain sizeL(t) is calculated along with the residual energye res (r) as a function of the cooling rater. If the attempt frequency =0 exp(–/kT), entering into the transition rates, is temperature dependent (i.e., the barrier is non-zero), the asymptotic growth ofL(t) is given byL()–L(t)~exp[–/kT(t)]. For this case the residual energy exhibits a power-law behaviore res(r) ~r /2(1 + ) forr small, where =4J/ andJ is the nearest neighbor coupling constant. For =0 and for certain cooling schemes the residual energy is zero andL(t)~t1/2, independent ofr.  相似文献

The nuclear magnetic moment of103Ru has been determined using the technique of low-temperature nuclear orientation on103Ru as a dilute impurity in Fe. The Fe lattice was cooled to 1.7 mK using a PrNi5 enhanced nuclear demagnetisation stage precooled with a3He–4He dilution refrigerator. The103RuFe system was observed to have a long nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time, but analysis of the relaxation indicates that the103Ru nuclei are close to thermal equilibrium with the Fe lattice at times>200 min after demagnetising. From the near thermal equilibrium anisotropy of the 497 keV -ray in103Rh we have deduced the nuclear magnetic moment as |(103Ru)|=0.18(2)N. This value is almost independent of the choice of spinI=3/2 or 5/2 for the nucleus, but is only consistent with systematics ifI(103Ru)=3/2 and <0. UsingI=3/2 we obtain the E2/M1 mixing ratio of the 497 keV -ray as =–0.42(4). The sign of the anisotropy of the 610 keV -ray from the 650 keV level in103Rh is only consistent with an allowed -decay to the state ifI(650 keV,103Rh)=5/2. The E2/M1 mixing ratio of the 610 keV -ray is then =+0.15(3) or +60( –40 + ), <–80. From the initial rise in -ray anisotropy following demagnetisation we determine the Korringa constant for103RuFe to beC=5.7(5) K·s.  相似文献
