A dynamic continuum theory is presented for smectic A liquid crystals in which the usual director n and unit layer normal a do not always necessarily coincide. Most previous dynamic continuum theories equate n with a; the theory developed in this article allows n and a to differ in non-equilibrium situations, work that has been motivated by the recent investigations by Auernhammer et al. (Rheol. Acta 39, 215–222, 2000; Phys. Rev. E 66, 061707, 2002) and Soddemann et al. (Eur. Phys. J. E 13, 141–151, 2004). The usual Oseen constraint () for smectics is not imposed upon the unit normal a. Permeation is also included. After a summary of the complete dynamic equations, an application is given via an example which shows that planar aligned layers of smectic A subjected to an arbitrary periodic disturbance are linearly stable.   相似文献

基于#618环氧树脂、甲基六氢苯酐、促进剂DMP-30、环氧树脂消泡剂四种原料,提出制作光弹性模型的新配方和新方法,并利用单轴压缩实验、电测法和动态光弹法分别测定了制作的光弹模型的动态力学参数。新方法工艺简单,制作周期短,对人体无害。制作的光弹模型初始应力小,表面光洁,质地均匀,透光性好,光学灵敏度高,具有良好的机械加工和切削性能。通过三点弯曲梁冲击实验,得到了清晰的光弹等差条纹图像,验证了该配方和方法制作的模型可以应用于动态光弹性实验。  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to ask the question as whether it is possible, for a given dynamical system defined by a vector field over a finite dimensional inner product space, to construct a reduced-order model over a finite dimensional manifold. In order to give a positive answer to this question, we prove that if the manifold under consideration is an immersed submanifold of the vector space, considered as ambient manifold, then it is possible to construct explicitly a reduced-order vector field over this submanifold. In particular, we found that the reduced-order vector field satisfies the variational principle of Dirac–Frenkel and that we can formulate the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition under this framework. Finally, we propose a local-point estimator of the time-dependent error between the original vector field and the reduced-order one.  相似文献

In the present study, the effect of vertical load, tire inflation pressure and soil moisture content on power loss in tire under controlled soil bin conditions were investigated. Also a finite element model of tire-soil interaction in order to achieve a suitable model for predicting power loss in tire was created. Increasing the vertical load on the tire had a noteworthy impact on increasing the tire contact volume with the soil, reducing the percentage of slip, and increasing the rolling resistance; although, reducing the load on the tire had the opposite effect. At a constant inflation pressure, by increasing the vertical load on the tire, the amount of power loss due to the rolling resistance and the total power loss in the tire increased. Increase in soil moisture content increased the power loss caused by slip. Increasing the inflation pressure at a constant vertical load, also increasing the soil moisture content, led to an increase in the power loss caused by rolling resistance, and increase total power loss. The obtained error for estimating power loss of rolling resistance and total power loss was satisfactory and confirmed the acceptability of the model for power loss estimation.  相似文献

We present a modelization of the heat and mass transfers within a porous medium, which takes into account phase transitions. Classical equations are derived for the mass conservation equation, whereas the equation of energy relies on an entropy balance adapted to the case of a rigid porous medium. The approximation of the solution is obtained using a finite volume scheme coupled with the management of phase transitions. This model is shown to apply in the case of an experiment of heat generation in a porous medium. The vapor phase appearance is well reproduced by the simulations, and the size of the two-phase region is correctly predicted. A result of this study is the evidence of the discrepancy between the air – water capillary and relative permeability curves and water – water vapor ones.  相似文献

It is well known that the relationship between capillary pressure and saturation, in two-phase flow problems demonstrates memory effects and, in particular, hysteresis. Explicit representation of full hysteresis with a myriad of scanning curves in models of multiphase flow has been a difficult problem. A second complication relates to the fact that P cS relationships, determined under static conditions, are not necessarily valid in dynamics. There exist P cS relationships which take into account dynamic effects. But the combination of hysteretic and dynamic effects in the capillary relationship has not been considered yet. In this paper, we have developed new models of capillary hysteresis which also include dynamic effects. In doing so, thermodynamic considerations are employed to ensure the admissibility of the new relationships. The simplest model is constructed around main imbibition and drainage curves and assumes that all scanning curves are vertical lines. The dynamic effect is taken into account by introducing a damping coefficient in P cS equation. A second-order model of hysteresis with inclined scanning curves is also developed. The simplest version of proposed models is applied to two-phase incompressible flow and an example problem is solved.  相似文献

One of the most challenging tasks facing computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis is the acquisition of accurate tensile test data that spans quasi-static to low dynamic (10?5/s?≤ $ \overset{.}{\varepsilon } $ ≤5?×?102/s) strain rates ( $ \overset{.}{\varepsilon } $ ). Critical to the accuracy of data acquired over the low dynamic range is the reduction of ringing artifacts in flow data. Ringing artifacts, which are a consequence of the inertial response of the load frame, are spurious oscillations that can obscure the desired material response (i.e. load vs. time or load vs. displacement) from which flow data are derived. These oscillations tend to grow with increasing strain rate and peak at the high end of the low dynamic range on servo-hydraulic tensile test frames. Common practices for addressing ringing are data filtering, which is often problematic since filtering introduces distortion in smoothed material data, or trial-and-error design of test specimen geometries. This renders techniques for reducing ringing based upon the mechanics of the load frame and optimization of tensile specimen geometry quite attractive. In the present paper, relationships between load, stress wave propagation, and specimen geometries are addressed, to both quantify ringing and to develop specimen designs that will reduce ringing. A combined theoretical/experimental approach for tensile specimen design was developed for reducing ringing in flow data over the low dynamic range of strain rates (10?5/s≤ $ \overset{.}{\varepsilon } $ ≤5?×?102/s). The single camera digital image correlation (DIC) method was used to measure the displacement fields and strain rates with specimens resulting from the combined theoretical/experimental approach. While the approach was developed on a specific commercial load frame with a TRIP steel subject to a two-step quenching and partitioning heat treatment (Q&P980), it is readily adaptable to other servo-hydraulic load frames and metallic alloys. The developed approach results in a 90 % reduction in ringing artifact (with no filtering) in a tensile flow curve for Q&P980 at $ \overset{.}{\varepsilon}\kern-4pt $ = 5?×?102/s. Results from split Hopkinson bar tests of Q&P980 were performed at $ \overset{.}{\varepsilon } $ = 500/s and compare favorably with the test data generated by the developed testing approach. Since the Q&P980 steel represents a new generation of advanced high strength steels, we also evaluated its strain rate sensitivity over the low dynamic range.  相似文献

高拱坝的动力破坏特性越来越受到关注,动力特性和动力响应是其研究的一个重要方面。通过模型试验的方法研究高拱坝动力特性和动力响应的特征,动力特性试验比较了完好结构与有施工横缝结构的基阶动力特性,表明当结构存在施工横缝时,结构基阶频率降低,阻尼增大。结构动力响应采用振动台模拟地震波激励,试验结果表明,完整结构与有施工缝结构动力响应具体数据不同,但规律相同。加速度最大响应沿拱顶水平向在坝中拱顶的值最大,向两边的坝肩处,加速度最大响应逐渐减小。沿拱坝垂向加速度最大响应从坝顶到基础,响应均逐渐减小。试验结果可为高拱坝结构动力安全研究提供技术依据。  相似文献

Part I describes the tire structure model; part II the contact detection and contact interface models for rigid and deformable terrains; part III the model parameterization and validation. Model parameters are estimated using non-linear least-square optimization to minimize the error between the Hybrid Soft Soil Tire Model (HSSTM) predictions and experimental data. The parameterization routines’ initial conditions are estimated from modal analysis in radial and circumferential directions. The preliminary parameterized model is incorporated in the optimization routine to find tire sidewall and belt parameters in the radial direction using quasi-static cleat loading test data. The vertical force at the spindle and tire contact patch are used to study the model accuracy in the radial direction. FlatTrac tire longitudinal and lateral force test data are employed to estimate the parameters in these directions. The tire shear force and moment at the spindle are validated against experimental data for lateral dynamics performance.  相似文献

The dynamic boundary conditions for vorticity, derived from the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, are examined from both theoretical and computational points of view. It is found that these conditions can be either local (Neumann type) or global (Dirichlet type), both containing coupling with the boundary pressure, which is the main difficulty in applying vorticity-based methods. An integral formulation is presented to analyse the structure of vorticity and pressure solutions, especially the strength of the coupling. We find that for high-Reynolds-number flows the coupling is weak and, if necessary, can be effectively bypassed by simple iteration. In fact, even a fully decoupled approximation is well applicable for most Reynolds numbers of practical interest. The fractional step method turns out to be especially appropriate for implementing the decoupled approximation. Both integral and finite difference methods are tested for some simple cases with known exact solutions. In the integral approach smoothed heat kernels are used to increase the accuracy of numerical quadrature. For the more complicated problem of impulsively started flow over a circular cylinder at Re = 9500 the finite difference method is used. The results are compared against numerical solutions and fine experiments with good agreement. These numerical experiments confirm our thoeretical analysis and show the advantages of the dynamic condition in computing high-Reynolds-number flows.  相似文献

A two-degree-of-freedom periodically-forced system with symmetric motion limiting constraints is considered in this paper. The incidence relation between dynamics and constraint parameters (clearance and constraint stiffness) is studied and some novel results are obtained by double-parameter simulation analysis. The fundamental group of impact motions having the excitation period and differing by the number of impacts is given special consideration for analyzing low frequency vibration characteristics of the system. Dynamics of the system are studied with emphasis on the mutual transition characteristics between neighboring regions of fundamental impact motions. An electronic circuit is designed for physical implementation of dynamics of the periodically-forced system with symmetric constraints. The non-linear terms of the system are replaced by using an absolute-value function and can be fully implemented with simple electronic elements (resistors and operational amplifiers). The electronic circuit is realized and studied. The oscilloscope outputs of electrical waveforms of various non-smooth oscillations, generated by the circuit itself, are experimentally observed. A good agreement among the numerical results of the mechanical model, the electronic design simulation of the circuit and the real oscilloscope outputs of hardware implementation is confirmed.  相似文献

This paper presents recent experimental results on the switching of a simply supported buckled beam. Moreover, the present work is focussed on the experimental validation of a switching mechanism of a bistable beam presented in details in Camescasse et al. (2013). An actuating force is applied perpendicularly to the beam axis. Particular attention is paid to the influence of the force position on the beam on the switching scenario. The experimental set-up is described and special care is devoted to the procedure of experimental tests highlighting the main difficulties and how these difficulties have been overcome. Two situations are examined: (i) a beam subject to mid-span actuation and (ii) off-center actuation. The bistable beam responses to the loading are experimentally determined for the buckling force and actuating force as a function of the vertical position of the applied force (displacement control). A series of photos demonstrates the scenarios for both situations and the bifurcation between buckling modes are clearly shown, as well. The influence of the application point of the force on the bifurcation force is experimentally studied which leads to a minimum for the bifurcation actuating force. All the results extracted from experimental tests are compared to those coming from the modeling investigation presented in a previous work (Camescasse et al., 2013) which ascertains the proposed model for a bistable beam.  相似文献
