In the vehicle routing literature, there is an increasing focus on time-dependent routing problems, where the time (or cost) to travel between any pair of nodes (customers, depots) depends on the departure time. The aim of such algorithms is to be able to take recurring congestion into account when planning logistics operations. To test algorithms for time-dependent routing problems, time-dependent problem data is necessary. This data usually comes in the form of three-dimensional travel time matrices that add the departure time as an extra dimension. However, most currently available time-dependent travel time matrices are not network-consistent, i.e., the travel times are not correlated both in time and in space. This stands in contrast to the behavior of real life congestion, which generally follows a specific pattern, appearing in specific areas and then affecting all travel times to and from those areas. As a result of the lack of available network-consistent travel time matrices, it is difficult to develop algorithms that are able to take this special structure of the travel time data into account.  相似文献

In urban areas, logistic transportation operations often run into problems because travel speeds change, depending on the current traffic situation. If not accounted for, time-dependent and stochastic travel speeds frequently lead to missed time windows and thus poorer service. Especially in the case of passenger transportation, it often leads to excessive passenger ride times as well. Therefore, time-dependent and stochastic influences on travel speeds are relevant for finding feasible and reliable solutions. This study considers the effect of exploiting statistical information available about historical accidents, using stochastic solution approaches for the dynamic dial-a-ride problem (dynamic DARP). The authors propose two pairs of metaheuristic solution approaches, each consisting of a deterministic method (average time-dependent travel speeds for planning) and its corresponding stochastic version (exploiting stochastic information while planning). The results, using test instances with up to 762 requests based on a real-world road network, show that in certain conditions, exploiting stochastic information about travel speeds leads to significant improvements over deterministic approaches.  相似文献

In this paper we tackle a generalization of the Single Source Capacitated Facility Location Problem in which two sets of facilities, called intermediate level and upper level facilities, have to be located; the dimensioning of the intermediate set, the assignment of clients to intermediate level facilities, and of intermediate level facilities to upper level facilities, must be optimized, as well. Such problem arises, for instance, in telecommunication network design: in fact, in hierarchical networks the traffic arising at client nodes often have to be routed through different kinds of facility nodes, which provide different services. We propose a heuristic approach, based on very large scale neighborhood search to tackle the problem, in which both ad hoc algorithms and general purpose solvers are applied to explore the search space. We report on experimental results using datasets from the capacitated location literature. Such results show that the approach is promising and that Integer Linear Programming based neighborhoods are significantly effective.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the problem of locating one new facility in the plane with respect to a given set of existing facilities where a set of polyhedral barriers restricts traveling. This non-convex optimization problem can be reduced to a finite set of convex subproblems if the objective function is a convex function of the travel distances between the new and the existing facilities (like e.g. the median and center objective functions). An exact algorithm and a heuristic solution procedure based on this reduction result are developed.  相似文献

Although machine scheduling problems with learning and deteriorating effects consideration have received increasing attention in the recent years, most studies have seldom considered the two phenomena simultaneously. However, learning and deteriorating effects might co-exist in many realistic scheduling situations. Thus, in this article, a model which takes the effects of time-dependent learning and deterioration simultaneously is proposed and applied into some scheduling problems. Under the proposed model, the processing time of a job is determined by a function of its corresponding starting time and positional sequence in each machine. We show that some single machine and flowshop scheduling problems are polynomially solvable with the certain performance measures such as makespan, total completion time, and weighted completion time.  相似文献

Euclidean Minimum Sum-of-Squares Clustering amounts to finding p prototypes by minimizing the sum of the squared Euclidean distances from a set of points to their closest prototype. In recent years related clustering problems have been extensively analyzed under the assumption that the space is a network, and not any more the Euclidean space. This allows one to properly address community detection problems, of significant relevance in diverse phenomena in biological, technological and social systems. However, the problem of minimizing the sum of squared distances on networks have not yet been addressed. Two versions of the problem are possible: either the p prototypes are sought among the set of nodes of the network, or also points along edges are taken into account as possible prototypes. While the first problem is transformed into a classical discrete p-median problem, the latter is new in the literature, and solved in this paper with the Variable Neighborhood Search heuristic. The solutions of the two problems are compared in a series of test examples.  相似文献

A firm wants to locate several multi-server facilities in a region where there is already a competitor operating. We propose a model for locating these facilities in such a way as to maximize market capture by the entering firm, when customers choose the facilities they patronize, by the travel time to the facility and the waiting time at the facility. Each customer can obtain the service or goods from several (rather than only one) facilities, according to a probabilistic distribution. We show that in these conditions, there is demand equilibrium, and we design an ad hoc heuristic to solve the problem, since finding the solution to the model involves finding the demand equilibrium given by a nonlinear equation. We show that by using our heuristic, the locations are better than those obtained by utilizing several other methods, including MAXCAP, p-median and location on the nodes with the largest demand.  相似文献

In the stochastic variant of the vehicle routing problem with time windows, known as the SVRPTW, travel times are assumed to be stochastic. In our chance-constrained approach to the problem, restrictions are placed on the probability that individual time window constraints are violated, while the objective remains based on traditional routing costs. In this paper, we propose a way to offer this probability, or service level, for all customers. Our approach carefully considers how to compute the start-service time and arrival time distributions for each customer. These distributions are used to create a feasibility check that can be “plugged” into any algorithm for the VRPTW and thus be used to solve large problems fairly quickly. Our computational experiments show how the solutions change for some well-known data sets across different levels of customer service, two travel time distributions, and several parameter settings.  相似文献

Variable neighbourhood search is a metaheuristic used mainly to tackle combinatorial optimization problems. Its performance depends on having a good variable neighbourhood structure: that is, a sequence of neighbourhoods that are ideally pairwise disjoint and contain feasible solutions further and further from a given feasible solution. This article defines a variable neighbourhood structure with these properties that is new for cycle location problems. It find bounds for the neighbourhood sizes and shows how to iterate over then when the cycle is a circuit. It tests the structure and iteration method using variable neighbourhood search on a range of median cycle problems and finds a neighbourhood size beyond which there is, on average, no benefit in applying local search. This neighbourhood size is found not to depend on problem size or bound on circuit length.  相似文献

This paper describes a new multiobjective interactive memetic algorithm applied to dynamic location problems. The memetic algorithm integrates genetic procedures and local search. It is able to solve capacitated and uncapacitated multi-objective single or multi-level dynamic location problems. These problems are characterized by explicitly considering the possibility of a facility being open, closed and reopen more than once during the planning horizon. It is possible to distinguish the opening and reopening periods, assigning them different coefficient values in the objective functions. The algorithm is part of an interactive procedure that asks the decision maker to define interesting search areas by establishing limits to the objective function values or by indicating reference points. The procedure will be applied to some illustrative location problems.  相似文献

Most solution methods for the vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW) develop routes from the earliest feasible departure time. In practice, however, temporary traffic congestion make such solutions non-optimal with respect to minimizing the total duty time. Furthermore, the VRPTW does not account for driving hours regulations, which restrict the available travel time for truck drivers. To deal with these problems, we consider the vehicle departure time optimization (VDO) problem as a post-processing of a VRPTW. We propose an ILP formulation that minimizes the total duty time. The results of a case study indicate that duty time reductions of 15% can be achieved. Furthermore, computational experiments on VRPTW benchmarks indicate that ignoring traffic congestion or driving hours regulations leads to practically infeasible solutions. Therefore, new vehicle routing methods should be developed that account for these common restrictions. We propose an integrated approach based on classical insertion heuristics.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the single machine scheduling problems with an actual time-dependent deterioration effect. By the actual time-dependent deterioration effect, we mean that the processing time of a job is defined by increasing function of total actual processing time of jobs in front of it in the sequence. We show that even with the introduction of an actual time-dependent deterioration to job processing times, makespan minimization problem, total completion time minimization problem, the total lateness, and the sum of the quadratic job completion times minimization problem remain polynomially solvable, respectively. We also show that the total weighted completion time minimization problem, the discounted total weighted completion time minimization problem, the maximum lateness minimization problem, and the total tardiness minimization problem can be solved in polynomial time under certain conditions.  相似文献

In this note we consider some single-machine scheduling problems with decreasing time-dependent job processing times. Decreasing time-dependent job processing times means that its processing time is a non-increasing function of its execution start time. We present polynomial solutions for the sum of squared completion times minimization problem, and the sum of earliness penalties minimization problem subject to no tardy jobs, respectively. We also study two resource constrained scheduling problems under the same decreasing time-dependent job processing times model and present algorithms to find their optimal solutions.  相似文献

This paper presents a new local search approach for solving continuous location problems. The main idea is to exploit the relation between the continuous model and its discrete counterpart. A local search is first conducted in the continuous space until a local optimum is reached. It then switches to a discrete space that represents a discretisation of the continuous model to find an improved solution from there. The process continues switching between the two problem formulations until no further improvement can be found in either. Thus, we may view the procedure as a new adaption of formulation space search. The local search is applied to the multi-source Weber problem where encouraging results are obtained. This local search is also embedded within Variable Neighbourhood Search producing excellent results.  相似文献

In this paper a single facility location problem with multiple relocation opportunities is investigated. The weight associated with each demand point is a known function of time. We consider either rectilinear, or squared Euclidean, or Euclidean distances. Relocations can take place at pre-determined times. The objective function is to minimize the total location and relocation costs. An algorithm which finds the optimal locations, relocation times and the total cost, for all three types of distance measurements and various weight functions, is developed. Locations are found using constant weights, and relocations times are the solution to a Dynamic Programming or Binary Integer Programming (BIP) model. This paper presents a General Variable Neighborhood Search (GVNS) heuristic for the Traveling Salesman Problem with Time Windows (TSPTW). The heuristic is composed by both constructive and optimization stages. In the first stage, the heuristic constructs a feasible solution using VNS, and in the optimization stage the heuristic improves the feasible solution with a General VNS heuristic. Both constructive and optimization stages take advantage of elimination tests, partial neighbor evaluation and neighborhood partitioning techniques. Experimental results show that this approach is efficient, reducing significantly the computation time and improving some best known results from the literature.  相似文献

We generalize the standard vehicle routing problem with time windows by allowing both traveling times and traveling costs to be time-dependent functions. In our algorithm, we use a local search to determine routes of the vehicles. When we evaluate a neighborhood solution, we must compute an optimal time schedule for each route. We show that this subproblem can be efficiently solved by dynamic programming, which is incorporated in the local search algorithm. The neighborhood of our local search consists of slight modifications of the standard neighborhoods called 2- opt*, cross exchange and Or-opt. We propose an algorithm that evaluates solutions in these neighborhoods more efficiently than the ones computing the dynamic programming from scratch by utilizing the information from the past dynamic programming recursion used to evaluate the current solution. We further propose a filtering method that restricts the search space in the neighborhoods to avoid many solutions having no prospect of improvement. We then develop an iterated local search algorithm that incorporates all the above ingredients. Finally we report computational results of our iterated local search algorithm compared against existing methods, and confirm the effectiveness of the restriction of the neighborhoods and the benefits of the proposed generalization.  相似文献

Transportation is an important component of supply chain competitiveness since it plays a major role in the inbound, inter-facility, and outbound logistics. In this context, assigning and scheduling vehicle routes is a crucial management problem. In this paper, a vehicle routing problem with dynamic travel times due to potential traffic congestion is considered. The approach developed introduces mainly the traffic congestion component based on queueing theory. This is an innovative modeling scheme to capture travel times. The queueing approach is compared with other approaches and its potential benefits are described and quantified. Moreover, the optimization of the starting times of a route at the distribution center is evaluated. Finally, the trade-off between solution quality and calculation time is discussed. Numerous test instances are used, both to illustrate the appropriateness of the approach as well as to show that time-independent solutions are often unrealistic within a congested traffic environment, which is usually the case on European road networks.  相似文献

In this study, we improved the variable neighborhood search (VNS) algorithm for solving uncapacitated multilevel lot-sizing (MLLS) problems. The improvement is twofold. First, we developed an effective local search method known as the Ancestors Depth-first Traversal Search (ADTS), which can be embedded in the VNS to significantly improve the solution quality. Second, we proposed a common and efficient approach for the rapid calculation of the cost change for the VNS and other generate-and-test algorithms. The new VNS algorithm was tested against 176 benchmark problems of different scales (small, medium, and large). The experimental results show that the new VNS algorithm outperforms all of the existing algorithms in the literature for solving uncapacitated MLLS problems because it was able to find all optimal solutions (100%) for 96 small-sized problems and new best-known solutions for 5 of 40 medium-sized problems and for 30 of 40 large-sized problems.  相似文献
