The grand canonical ensemble of a two-dimensional Coulomb system with±1 charges is proved to have screening phenomena in its high-temperature region. The Coulomb potential in a finite region is assumed to be (–)–1, where is the Laplacian with zero boundary conditions on. The hard-core condition is not assumed. The model is set up by separating (–)–1 into a shortrange part and a long-range part depending on a parameter. The self-energies are subtracted only for the short-range part and therefore a choice of is a choice of subtraction of self-energies. The method of proof is in general the same as that of Brydges-Federbush Debye screening, except that here a modification for the short-range part of the potentials is needed.  相似文献

We prove that for any >2 and a.e. , the pure point spectrum of the almost Mathieu operator (H()) n = n-1 + n+1 + cos(2( +n)) n contains the essential closure of the spectrum. Corresponding eigenfunctions decay exponentially. The singular continuous component, if it exists, is concentrated on a set of zero measure which is nowhere dense in .  相似文献

In the Yang-Mills formulation of gravitational dynamics based uponSL(2,C) spin transformations acting on Dirac spinors, the vacuum field equations are R +C R = 0 and and . HereR is the Ricci curvature andC is the Weyl conformal curvature; is a coupling constant. We show the equivalence between solutions of these equations and the vacuum Einstein equationsR = 0. The spectrum (H) of the tight binding Fibonacci Hamiltonian (H mn= m,n+1+ m+1,n + m,n v(n),v(n)= ((n–1)), 1/ is the golden number) is shown to coincide with the dynamical spectrum, the set on which an infinite subsequence of traces of transfer matrices is bounded. The point spectrum is absent for any , and (H) is a Cantor set for 4. Combining this with Casdagli's earlier result, one finds that the spectrum is singular continuous for 16.On leave from the Central Research Institute for Physics, Budapest, Hungary  相似文献

The contact process onZ has one phase transition; let c be the critical value at which the transition occurs. Let N be the extinction time of the contact process on {0,...,N}. Durrett and Liu (1988), Durrett and Schonmann (1988), and Durrett, Schonmann, and Tanaka (1989) have respectively proved that the subcritical, supercritical, and critical phases can be characterized using a large finite system (instead ofZ) in the following way. There are constants 1() and 2() such that if < c , lim N N /logN = 1/1(); if > c , lim N log N /N = 2(); if = c , lim N N /N= and lim N N /N 4=0 in probability. In this paper we consider the asymmetric contact process onZ when it has two distinct critical values c1< c2. The arguments of Durrett and Liu and of Durrett and Schonmann hold for < c1 and > c2. We show that for [ c1< c2), lim N N /N=-1/, (where i is an edge speed) and for = c2, lim N log N /logN=2 in probability.  相似文献

We consider the mechanism of macroscopic polarization of semiconducting plates owing to the interaction of free carriers with an impurity level, in which role the level of the residual impurity of compensated semiconductors may appear. This mechanism, in combination with the diffusion-drift mechanism of polarization, results in additional dispersion of the real () and imaginary () parts of the dielectric permittivity, this being particularly significant for semiconductors of thickness smaller than the screening length Ls of free carriers. The character of the behavior of and depends on the relation between the Maxwell relation time M and the times of carrier capture: c and ejection e by an impurity center. For cetm and (/Ls) e/c1 the dispersion of and is the same as for thick plates (/Ls1). For c m e and (/Ls)e/c1 the () curve has a characteristic kink in the region 1/e, indicating additional absorption associated with the ejection of carriers into the surface region.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 10, pp. 11–13, October, 1981.  相似文献

Finite-size behavior near the first-order phase boundary of ferromagnetic spherical models is investigated for block- and cylinder-shaped systems ind dimensions. The bulk thermodynamic singularities are rounded and, asymptotically for large size, obey appropriate scaling laws. Both short-range interactions and long-range couplings, decaying like 1/rd+ with >0, are analyzed: the short-range results agree precisely with a recently developed scaling theory forO(n) symmetric systems in the limitn. More generally, the scaling functions are universal, depending only on . Explicit aspects of the shape and interactions enter only in the spin wave or Goldstone mode contributions which appear, technically, as corrections to scaling. An appendix analyzes the truncation error in the approximation, by many-fold sums, of multivariate integrals with integrands diverging like [jaj j 2 ]- as 0.  相似文献

Self-diffusion coefficients of vanadium in the FeV -phase and in the corresponding -solid solution (Fe-47 wt.% V) measured in the temperature ranges 1002–1115 °C (-phase) and 1230–1320 °C are reported. The found results differ fundamentally and significantly from the relations in ordered and disordered solid solutions [9]. The diffusivity in -phase at the transition temperature (T /=1200 °C) is cca 14 times lower than the diffusivity in the b.c.c. solid solution, the chemical composition of which is the same. The lowering is caused by the different values of frequency factors,D O=0.11 cm2/s andD O=45 cm2/s. The effect of the corresponding activation enthalpiesH =252 kJ/mole andH =293 kJ/mole is small and quite opposite. The occurence of higher activation enthalpyH in the -solid solution at temperaturesT>T / may be attributed to a certain amount of the f.c.c. phase coexisting in the b.c.c. matrix at concentrationsc v>27 wt.% at sufficiently high temperatures [7]. A comparison of vanadium self-diffusion characteristics measured in the -phase to the extrapolated values obtained on the basis of the previous measurements [1] in the Fe-V primary solid solutions 1 shows that the diffusivity ratioD 1/D (1473 K)=33 and that the activation enthalpyH is by about 3% higher than the valuesH 1 (eq. (5)) measured in the uniphase b.c.c. solid solutions.  相似文献

Intense picosecond light pulses of a mode-locked Nd: glass laser at L =1054 nm (fundamental wavelength) and SH =527 nm (second harmonic wavelength) are passed through a sample of D2O under self-focusing conditions. Spectrally structured superbroadened, spatially bell-shaped emission in the forward direction is obtained. Primary generation processes are pump-pulse-degenerate stimulated parametric four-photon interaction (1 + 1 3 + 4) and stimulated Raman scattering (1 R + ), which occur concurrently (1= L or SH angular pump frequency, #x03C9; R first Stokes frequency, #x03C9; signal frequency, #x03C9;3 signal frequency, #x03C9;4 idler frequency). The parametric four-photon interaction occurs under collinear non-phase-matched conditions and under longitudinally phase-matched, transversally non-phase-matched (erenkov-like) conditions. Subsequent interaction processes are pump-pulse-nondegenerate four-photon interaction of the type 1 + R 3 + 4, coherent antiStokes Raman scattering (CARS, 1 + 14 3), inverse Raman scattering ( A + 1 + ), and cascading light up-conversion of the type 1 + (i) R (i+1).  相似文献

We study perturbations of the quantized version 0 of integrable Hamiltonian systems by point interactions. We relate the eigenvalues of to the zeros of a certain meromorphic function . Assuming the eigenvalues of 0 are Poisson distributed, we get detailed information on the joint distribution of the zeros of and give bounds on the probability density for the spacings of eigenvalues of . We study the hydrodynamic behavior of a one-dimensional nearest neighbor gradient system with respect to a positive convex potential . In the hydrodynamic limit the density distribution is shown to evolve according to the nonlinear diffusion equation ,(q)/t= (2/dq2){F([1/1(q)]), with F= –.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to review and to extend, wherever possible, the Kramers-Kronig relations, sum rules, and symmetry properties for the electrodynamic transport tensors of a linear plasma medium. For complete generality, we consider both nonrelativistic and relativistic plasmas with and without external magnetic fields. Our study is carried out first within the framework of classical electrodynamics. We then exploit the statistical-mechanical fluctuation-dissipation theorem to further obtain the Onsager symmetry relations and Kubo sum-rule frequency moments. Of special significance is the emergence of a variety of new Kramers-Kronig formulae andf-sum rules for the inverse dispersion tensor.Nomenclature E(k,) electric field intensity - Ê(k,) electric field in absence of plasma particles, - (k,) electric field due to the plasma particles (=E-Ê) - B(k,) magnetic induction - D(k,) electric induction - H(k,) magnetic field strength - B 0 constant external magnetic field - A 0 vector potential corresponding toB 0 - (k,),j(k, co) charge and current densities due to the plasma particles - (k,),J(k,) charge and current densities of the external agency - (k,,B 0) dielectric tensor of the plasma medium in the presence of B0 - (k,,B 0) diamagnetic tensor - (k, co,B 0) (k,,B 0) – 1, electric polarizability tensor - (k,,B 0) magnetic polarizability tensor - (k,,B 0) ordinary conductivity tensor - (k,,B 0) external conductivity tensor - D(k,,B 0) n2T–(k,,B 0), dispersion tensor, where T=1-kk is the transverse projection tensor (k being the unit vector in the direction ofk) andn = kc/ the index of refraction - n2T – 1, = vacuum wave operator (value of D in vacuum) - 1/2( + ), Hermitian part of - ^ 1/2( – ), Anti-Hermitian part of a - , real and imaginary parts of a - R(r,t) dissipated power per unit volume of plasma - U total energy absorbed by the plasma - R(k,) E*(k,) · (k,,b 0) ·E(k,) corresponding spectral energy density - W(r,t) 1/20E2(r, 0 + (l/20) B2(r,t), field energy density - W(k,) 1/20E*k,) ·E(k,) + (l/20)B *(k,) · B(k,), energy content in a certain domain of (k,)-space for a single mode - x i,p i,v i coordinate, momentum, and velocity of ith electron - i [1–(i 2/c2)]–1/2 - X j,P j,V j coordinate, momentum, and velocity of jth ion - {A q}, {Eq} field coordinates and momenta - jk(t),J k(t) perturbations in the microscopic electron and ion current densities due to the presence of the small external vector potential agencyâ(r,t) = (1/L3) âk(t) expi k ·r - Liouville distribution function = 0 + - 0 macrocanonical distribution function characterizing the equilibrium state of the system in the infinite past - small perturbation due toA - H0 Hamiltonian of equilibrium system which includes interaction - H Hamiltonian for the interaction between the system and the small external perturbing agencyA - 0 = dR()0 expectation value of any quantity over the equilibrium ensemble (dR is an element of hypervolume in -phase space) - G(12) two-particle distribution function - F(1) one-particle distribution function - g(¦x2 – x1 ¦) [G(12)/F(1)F(2)] – 1, pair correlation function - N total number of electron in volume L3 - n 0 equilibrium density (of electrons) - –1 temperature (in energy units) - 0 (n0e2/m0)1/2, equilibrium electron plasma frequency - c ¦e ¦–B 0/m, electron frequency - –1 ( 0/n0e2)1/2, Debye length - 0 (n0Ze2/M0)1/2, equilibrium ion plasma frequency - c ZeB0/M, ion cyclotron frequency  相似文献

The stationary version of the nonlinear diffusion equation–c/t +D c = 1c – 2c2 can be solved with the ansatz c = p = 1/ Ap(coshkx) –p , inducing a band structure with regard to the ratio 1/2. The resulting solution manifold can be related to an equilibrium of fluxes of nonequilibrium thermodynamics. The modification of this ansatz yielding the expansion c = skp = 1/ A pq (coshkx)p [(cosht) –q–1 sinht + b(cosht)–q] represents a solution spectrum of the time-dependent nonlinear equation, and the stationary version can be found from the asymptotic behavior of the expansion. The solutions can be associated with reactive processes propagating along molecular chains, and their applicability to biophysical processes such as active transport phenomena and control circuit problems is discussed. There are also applications to cellular kinetics of clonogenic cell assays and spheroids.  相似文献

For automorphism groups of operator algebras we show how properties of the difference t – ' t are reflected in relations between the generators , . Indeed for a von Neumann algebraM with separable predual we show that if t – 't 0.28 for smallt, then = 0(+)°-1 where is an inner automorphism ofM and is a bounded derivation ofM. If the difference t – ' t =O(t) ast ; 0, then = + and if t – ' t 0.28 for allt then =. We prove analogous results for unitary groups on a Hilbert space andC 0,C 0 * groups on a Banach space. This paper subsumes an earlier work of the same title which appeared as a report from Z.I.F. der Universität BielefeldWith partial support of the U.S. National Science Foundation  相似文献

We consider translation-invariant attractive spin systems. LetT ,x v be the first time that the average spin inside the hypercube reaches the valuex when the process is started from an invariant measure with density smaller thanx. We obtain sufficient conditions for (1) ¦¦–1 logT ,x v (x) in distribution as ¦¦ , and ¦¦–1 logT ,x v (x) as ¦¦ , where (x):= –lim ¦¦–1 log {(average spin inside ) x. And (2)T ,x v /ET ,x v converges to a unit mean exponential random variable as ¦¦ . Both (1) and (2) are proven under some type of rapid convergence to equilibrium. (1) is also proven without extra conditions for Ising models with ferromagnetic pair interactions evolving according to an attractive reversible dynamics; in this case is a thermodynamic function. We discuss also the case of finite systems with boundary conditions and what can be said about the state of the system at the timeT ,x v .On leave from São Paulo University.  相似文献

The surface morphology after deposition of Ag on Ag(111) at low temperatures (130–200 K) has been studied in detail with SPA-LEED (Spot-Profile Analysis of Low-Energy Electron Diffraction). The surface roughness and the mean terrace size have been quantitatively determined under various conditions. At 130 K the surface roughness increases with coverage exactly according to the relation = 1/2, which indicates that the inter-layer diffusion can be neglected at 130 K. Although the mean terrace length decreases with increasing coverage (following an approximate power law of –2/3) for all studied coverages, it is much larger than expected for a pure random or Poisson-growth mode without any diffusion of the adatoms. Therefore, Ag grows on Ag(111) at this temperature without interlayer diffusion but with intra-layer diffusion. The intralayer diffusion barrierE d has been determined by measuring the temperature dependence of the two-dimensional island density according to the nucleation theory (supposing a critical nucleus size of one). The obtained valueE c=0.18 eV agrees with the theoretical calculations and previous measurements. Furthermore, from comparing measured and Monte-Carlo-simulated (MC) surface roughness at different deposition temperatures we obtain E=0.05 eV as a lower limit for the additional barrier at steps.  相似文献

The electron microscopic investigation of an Al-30 wt.% Zn alloy reveals that the plastic deformation of quenched samples substantionally modifies the phase transformation processes examined in the alloy aged at 200°C. Whereas the growth kinetics of metastable precipitates and associated solute diffusion are unaffected by cold rolling the alloy specimens from 9% up to 97·5% reduction in thickness, the rate of all observed transformations is enhanced considerably by prior plastic deformation. A corresponding increase of stored strain energy within the lattice provides namely an additional driving force for the establishment of a new precipitate/matrix interface of higher surface energy on the transformation of a metastable precipitate into a more stable one. The sizes of transforming transition precipitates consequently diminish with an increase of cold work and the respective transformations are thus accelerated.High dislocation density in heavily cold worked alloy also reduces the nucleation barrier for a heterogeneous nucleation on dislocations. The formation of platelike coherentcoh precipitates with internal cubic structure on dislocations is observed followed by the transformation ofcoh into spheroidical semicoherent precipitates. The non-uniform distribution of stresses and strains in cold rolled specimens leads to the development of deformation bands in the higher strained regions of even lightly deformed alloy. The direct precipitation of equilibrium precipitates in deformation bands is already observed immediately after cold work analogously to the -allotriomorph formation at grain boundaries.  相似文献

Under the condition of nearly equilibrium concentration of vacancies, time dependence of the amount of isothermal transformation given byy=R/R f was investigated whereR f is the total structural change of resistivity on completion of the whole process andR is the measured resistivity change. The investigation was done on the 21·8 at.% (40·3wt.%) Zn alloy under the condition of relatively low supersaturation of a few degrees centigrade below the metastable R solvus line. The total transformation involves four kinetic stages: the first two stages correspond probably to diffusion-controlled growth of the R particles from the supersaturated solid solution and to the ripening of these particles till their conversion to the cubic phase takes place. The last two kinetic stages account analogously for the particles growth and ripening. Both R and phases were identified by the transmission electron microscopy. When separating the individual stages, the approximation byy=1–exp [–(mt) n] of the amount of transformationy was used. The approximation allowed to get the starting values of both the time and the change of the structural part of the electrical resistance for individual stages and also to derive the parametersm i, ni which had to be redetermined for the individual separated stages. These data made it possible to synthetize the experimental curves ofR andy vs. time for the total transformation. It is a pleasure to thank Doc. Dr. V.Syneek CSc. for stimulating the author's interest in this problem and for providing helpful discussions. I also would like to express my thanks to Ing. P.Bartuka CSc. for the transmission electron microscopic study carried out to identify the particular phases. The author is indebted to Ing.V. íma for the preparation of the investigated alloy and to Mrs. A.Mendlová and Mr. P.Vyhlídka for technical assistance.  相似文献

From the eigenvalue H|n()=En() |n(), where HH0+V, one can derive an autonomous system of first-order differential equations for the eigenvaluesE n() and the matrix elements Vmn(), where is the independent variable. We perform a Painlevé test for this system and discuss the connection with integrability. It turns out that the equations of motion do not pass the Painlevé test, but a weaker form. The first integrals are polynomials and can be related to the Kowalewski exponents.  相似文献
