Curves in a hyperbolic quadric surface with a large number of {\mathbb{F}_{q}}-points

Here we study curves C over ${\mathbb{F}_q}$ contained in a hyperbolic quadric surface and such that ${\sharp (C(\mathbb{F}_q))}$ is large.     

An Exotic {T_{1}\mathbb{S}^4} with Positive Curvature

We construct a metric with positive sectional curvature on a 7-manifold which supports an isometry group with orbits of codimension 1. It is a connection metric on the total space of an orbifold 3-sphere bundle over an orbifold 4-sphere. By a result of S. Goette, the manifold is homeomorphic but not diffeomorphic to the unit tangent bundle of the 4-sphere.     

On the Number of Solutions of the Equation a_{1}x_{1}^{m_{1}}+\cdots +a_{n}x_{n}^{m_{n}}=bx_{1}\cdots x_{n} in a Finite Field

We obtain an explicit formula for the number of solutions of a special equation in a finite field under a certain restriction on the exponents. Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000) primary: 11G25, secondary: 11T24.     

Blocks with Defect Group \boldsymbol{Q_{2^n}\times C_{2^m}} and \boldsymbol{SD_{2^n}\times C_{2^m}}

We determine the numerical invariants of blocks with defect group $Q_{2^n}\times C_{2^m}$ and $SD_{2^n}\times C_{2^m}$ , where $Q_{2^n}$ denotes a quaternion group of order 2 ⁿ , $C_{2^m}$ denotes a cyclic group of order 2 ^m , and $SD_{2^n}$ denotes a semidihedral group of order 2 ⁿ . This generalizes Olsson’s results for m?=?0. As a consequence, we prove Brauer’s k(B)-Conjecture, Olsson’s Conjecture, Brauer’s Height-Zero Conjecture, the Alperin–McKay Conjecture, Alperin’s Weight Conjecture and Robinson’s Ordinary Weight Conjecture for these blocks. Moreover, we show that the gluing problem has a unique solution in this case. This paper follows (and uses) (Sambale, J Pure Appl Algebra 216:119–125, 2012; Proc Amer Math Soc, 2012).

On sets with variational mean curvature in L^{n}(\mathbf{R}^{n})

In this paper we give an example of a singular set with finite perimeter in the plane which is a subgraph with variational curvature in $L^2(\mathbf R ^2)$ . This is a extension to the class of graphs of a well celebrated example suggested by De Giorgi, where the boundary of the set was the union of two spiral curves.     

On {2, 3}-hyperidentities in invertible {2, 3}-algebras with a ternary group operation

The paper gives a characterization of invertible {2, 3}-algebras with a ternary group operations and balanced {2, 3}-hyperidentities of the first genus and of length 4.     

An Atomic Decomposition Characterization of Flag Hardy Spaces H^{p}_{F}(\mathbb{R}^{n}\times\mathbb{R}^{m}) with Applications

In this paper, we give an atomic decomposition characterization of flag Hardy spaces $H^{p}_{F}(\mathbb{R}^{n}\times\mathbb{R}^{m})$ for 0<p≤1, which were introduced in (Han and Lu in arXiv:0801.1701). A remarkable feature of atoms of such flag Hardy spaces is that these atoms have only partial cancellation conditions. As an application, we prove a boundedness criterion for operators on flag Hardy spaces.     

Multiplicity of solutions for a NLS equations with magnetic fields in \mathbb {R}^{N}

We investigate the multiplicity of nontrivial weak solutions for a class of complex equations. This class of problems are related with the existence of solitary waves for a nonlinear Schödinger equation. The main result is established by using minimax methods and Lusternik–Schnirelman theory of critical points.     

Nonlinear perturbations of a periodic elliptic problem with discontinuous nonlinearity in {\mathbb{R}^{N}}

Using variational methods, we establish existence of positive solutions for a class of elliptic problems like $$-\Delta{u}+V(x)u=H(u-\beta)f(u)\,\,\,\, {\rm in}\,\,\,\mathbb{R}^{N},$$ where ?? >?0, V is a positive, continuous perturbations of a periodic function, H is the Heaviside function and f is a continuous function with subcritical growth.     

On the Dynamics of x_{\bf{n} + \bf{1}} = {{ \mgreek{a} + \mgreek{g} x_{n-1} + \mgreek{d} x_{n-2}} \over {A + x_{n-2}}}

We investigate the global stability, the periodic character and the boundedness nature of solutions of the equation in the title for all admissible nonnegative values of the parameters and the initial conditions. We show that the solutions exhibit a trichotomy character depending on how the parameter γ compares to the sum of the parameters δ and A.     

Branching Rules for Finite-Dimensional $\mathcal {U}_{q}(\mathfrak {su}(3))$-Representations with Respect to a Right Coideal Subalgebra

We consider the quantum symmetric pair \((\mathcal {U}_{q}(\mathfrak {su}(3)), \mathcal {B})\) where \(\mathcal {B}\) is a right coideal subalgebra. We prove that all finite-dimensional irreducible representations of \(\mathcal {B}\) are weight representations and are characterised by their highest weight and dimension. We show that the restriction of a finite-dimensional irreducible representation of \(\mathcal {U}_{q}(\mathfrak {su}(3))\) to \(\mathcal {B}\) decomposes multiplicity free into irreducible representations of \(\mathcal {B}\). Furthermore we give explicit expressions for the highest weight vectors in this decomposition in terms of dual q-Krawtchouk polynomials.

\mathcal {A}_{p, {\mathbb {E}}} Weights,Maximal Operators,and Hardy Spaces Associated with a Family of General Sets

Suppose that \({\mathbb {E}}:=\{E_r(x)\}_{r\in {\mathcal {I}}, x\in X}\) is a family of open subsets of a topological space \(X\) endowed with a nonnegative Borel measure \(\mu \) satisfying certain basic conditions. We establish an \(\mathcal {A}_{{\mathbb {E}}, p}\) weights theory with respect to \({\mathbb {E}}\) and get the characterization of weighted weak type (1,1) and strong type \((p,p)\) , \(1<p\le \infty \) , for the maximal operator \({\mathcal {M}}_{{\mathbb {E}}}\) associated with \({\mathbb {E}}\) . As applications, we introduce the weighted atomic Hardy space \(H^1_{{\mathbb {E}}, w}\) and its dual \(BMO_{{\mathbb {E}},w}\) , and give a maximal function characterization of \(H^1_{{\mathbb {E}},w}\) . Our results generalize several well-known results.
