左定Sturm-Liouville算子的特征值计算(英文)

研究了定义在有限区间[a,b]上的具有分离型和混合型边界条件的左定正则Sturm-Liouville算子的特征值问题.把具有混合型边界条件的左定正则Sturm-Liouville问题转化成二维的、具有分离型边界条件的右定正则Sturm-Liouville问题,给出了具有混合型边界条件的左定正则Sturm-Liouville算子的特征值的数值计算方法.     

Eigenvalues of Fourth-order Singular Sturm-Liouville Boundary Value Problems

In this paper, by using Krasnoselskii''s fixed-point theorem, some sufficient conditions of existence of positive solutions for the following fourth-order nonlinear Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem:\begin{equation*}\left\{\begin{array}{lll} \frac{1}{p(t)}(p(t)u'')''(t)+ \lambda f(t,u)=0, t\in(0,1), \\ u(0)=u(1)=0, \\ \alpha u''(0)- \beta \lim_{t \rightarrow 0^{+}} p(t)u''(t)=0, \\ \gamma u''(1)+\delta\lim_{t \rightarrow 1^{-}} p(t)u''(t)=0, \end{array}\right.\end{equation*} are established, where $\alpha,\beta,\gamma,\delta \geq 0,$ and $~\beta\gamma+\alpha\gamma+\alpha\delta >0$. The function $p$ may be singular at $t=0$ or $1$, and $f$ satisfies Carath\''{e}odory condition.     

Bounds on Non-Real Eigenvalues of Indefinite Sturm-Liouville Problems

It is known since the early 20th century that regular indefinite Sturm-Liouville problems may possess non-real eigenvalues. However, finding bounds for this set in terms of the coefficients of the differential expression has remained an open problem until recently. In this note we prove a variant of a recent result in [1] on the bounds for the non-real eigenvalues of an indefinite Sturm-Liouville problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Dependence of Eigenvalues of Certain Closely Discrete Sturm-Liouville Problems

This paper is concerned with dependence of eigenvalues of certain closely discrete Sturm-Liouville problems. Topologies and geometric structures on various spaces of such problems are firstly introduced. Then, relationships between the analytic and geometric multiplicities of an eigenvalue are discussed. It is shown that all problems sufficiently close to a given problem have eigenvalues near each eigenvalue of the given problem. So, all the simple eigenvalues live in so-called continuous simple eigenvalue branches over the space of problems, and all the eigenvalues live in continuous eigenvalue branches over the space of self-adjoint problems. The analyticity, differentiability and monotonicity of continuous eigenvalue branches are further studied.     

Extremal Eigenvalues of the Sturm-Liouville Problems with Discontinuous Coefficients

In this paper, an extremal eigenvalue problem to the Sturm-Liouville equations with discontinuous coefficients and volume constraint is investigated. Liouville transformation is applied to change the problem into an equivalent minimization problem. Finite element method is proposed and the convergence for the finite element solution is established. A monotonic decreasing algorithm is presented to solve the extremal eigenvalue problem. A global convergence for the algorithm in the continuous case is proved. A few numerical results are given to depict the efficiency of the method.

该文利用了左定问题与右定问题的联系,得到了具有周期系数的左定Sturm-Liouville问题在区间[a,a+kh]上的周期和半周期特征值的描述,阐明了周期特征值之间的不等式关系,并明确给出了区间[a,a+kh]上的周期、半周期特征值和区间[a,a+h]上特征值的一一对应关系.

Regular Approximations of Singular Sturm-Liouville Problems with Limit-Circle Endpoints

For any self-adjoint realization S of a singular Sturm-Liouville equation on an interval (a,b) with limit-circle endpoints, we construct a family of self-adjoint realizations S _r ,r ∈ (0,∞), of this equation on subintervals (a _r ,b _r ) of (a,b) such that every eigenvalue of S is the limit of a continuous eigenvalue branch of this family. Of particular interest are the cases when at least one endpoint is oscillatory or the leading coefficient function changes sign. In these cases, we show that the index determining each continuous eigenvalue branch has an infinite number of jump discontinuities and give an explicit characterization of these discontinuities.

Exploiting Mixed Precision for Computing Eigenvalues of Symmetric Matrices and Singular Values

The use of higher precision preconditioning for the symmetric eigenvalue problem and the singular value problem of general non–structured non–graded matrices are discussed. The matrix Q from the QR–decomposition as a preconditioner, applied to A with higher precision, in combination with Jacobi's method seems to allow the computation of all eigenvalues of symmetric positive definite matrices rsp. all singular values of general matrices to nearly full accuracy. Singular left-definite Sturm-Liouville problems

We study singular left-definite Sturm-Liouville problems with an indefinite weight function. The existence of eigenvalues is established based on the existence of eigenvalues of corresponding right-definite problems. Furthermore, for each singular left-definite problem with limit-circle non-oscillatory endpoints we construct a regular left-definite problem with the same eigenvalues and use it to obtain properties of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. Inequalities among eigenvalues recently established for regular left-definite problems are extended to the singular case.
