This paper contains a generalization of the commutant lifting theorem to a time-variant setting. The main result, which is called the three chains completion theorem, is used to solve various nonstationary norm constrained interpolation problems.  相似文献

We give a new proof of a special case of de Branges' theorem on the inverse monodromy problem: when an associated Riemann surface is of Widom type with Direct Cauchy Theorem. The proof is based on our previous result (with M.Sodin) on infinite dimensional Jacobi inversion and on Levin's uniqueness theorem for conformal maps onto comb-like domains. Although in this way we can not prove de Branges' Theorem in full generality, our proof is rather constructive and may lead to a multi-dimensional generalization. The Alexander-Hirschowitz theorem says that a general collection of k double points in Pn imposes independent conditions on homogeneous polynomials of degree d with a well known list of exceptions. We generalize this theorem to arbitrary zero-dimensional schemes contained in a general union of double points. We work in the polynomial interpolation setting. In this framework our main result says that the affine space of polynomials of degree ?d in n variables, with assigned values of any number of general linear combinations of first partial derivatives, has the expected dimension if d≠2 with only five exceptional cases. If d=2 the exceptional cases are fully described.  相似文献

Using a quantum field theory renormalization group-like differential equation, we give a new proof of the recipe theorem for the Tutte polynomial for matroids. The solution of such an equation is in fact given by some appropriate characters of the Hopf algebra of isomorphic classes of matroids, characters which are then related to the Tutte polynomial for matroids. This Hopf algebraic approach also allows to prove, in a new way, a matroid Tutte polynomial convolution formula appearing in [W. Kook, V. Reiner, D. Stanton, A convolution formula for the Tutte polynomial, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 76 (1999) 297–300] and [G. Etienne, M. Las Vergnas, External and internal elements of a matroid basis, Discrete Math. 179 (1998) 111–119].  相似文献

We present an elementary method for proving enumeration formulas which are polynomials in certain parameters if others are fixed and factorize into distinct linear factors over Z. Roughly speaking the idea is to prove such formulas by “explaining” their zeros using an appropriate combinatorial extension of the objects under consideration to negative integer parameters. We apply this method to prove a new refinement of the Bender-Knuth (ex-)Conjecture, which easily implies the Bender-Knuth (ex-)Conjecture itself. This is probably the most elementary way to prove this result currently known. Furthermore we adapt our method to q-polynomials, which allows us to derive generating function results as well. Finally we use this method to give another proof for the enumeration of semistandard tableaux of a fixed shape which differs from our proof of the Bender-Knuth (ex-)Conjecture in that it is a multivariate application of our method.  相似文献

We consider a free interpolation problem in Nevanlinna and Smirnov classes and find a characterization of the corresponding interpolating sequences in terms of the existence of harmonic majorants of certain functions. We also consider the related problem of characterizing positive functions in the disk having a harmonic majorant. An answer is given in terms of a dual relation which involves positive measures in the disk with bounded Poisson balayage. We deduce necessary and sufficient geometric conditions, both expressed in terms of certain maximal functions.  相似文献

We present several results associated to a holomorphic-interpolation problem for the spectral unit ball Ω n , n ≥ 2. We begin by showing that a known necessary condition for the existence of a -interpolant ( here being the unit disc in ), given that the matricial data are non-derogatory, is not sufficient. We provide next a new necessary condition for the solvability of the two-point interpolation problem – one which is not restricted only to non-derogatory data, and which incorporates the Jordan structure of the prescribed data. We then use some of the ideas used in deducing the latter result to prove a Schwarz-type lemma for holomorphic self-maps of Ω n , n ≥ 2. The use of the Cauchy theorem (instead of the Cauchy formula) in complex analysis together with numerical integration rules is proposed for the computation of analytic functions and their derivatives inside a closed contour from boundary data for the analytic function only. This approach permits a dramatical increase of the accuracy of the numerical results for points near the contour. Several theoretical results about this method are proved. Related numerical results are also displayed. The present method together with the trapezoidal quadrature rule on a circular contour is investigated from a theoretical point of view (including error bounds and corresponding asymptotic estimates), compared with the numerically competitive Lyness-Delves method and rederived by using the Theotokoglou results on the error term. Generalizations for the present method are suggested in brief.  相似文献

A geometric interpretation of the Leibniz coboundary is given in terms of the calculus of variations. For a differentiable manifold M, Leibniz cohomology generalizes de Rham cohomology by including all tensors as cochains. When applied to two-tensors, the conditions for the vanishing of a Leibniz cochain are related to the necessary conditions to achieve an extreme value of the integral of the tensor over an immersed surface. A local formula for the coboundary of any tensor is given in terms of a coordinate chart, and the Leibniz coboundary of the Riemann curvature tensor is computed in terms of the derivative of sectional curvature.  相似文献
