The Hadamard matrices of order 44 possessing automorphisms of order 7 are classified. The number of their equivalence classes is 384. The order of their full automorphism group is calculated. These Hadamard matrices yield 1683 nonisomorphic 3-(44,22,10) designs, 57932 nonisomorphic 2-(43,21,10) designs, and two inequivalent extremal binary self-dual doubly even codes of length 88 (one of them being new).  相似文献

All Hadamard 2-(63,31,15) designs invariant under the dihedral group of order 10 are constructed and classified up to isomorphism together with related Hadamard matrices of order 64. Affine 2-(64,16,5) designs can be obtained from Hadamard 2-(63,31,15) designs having line spreads by Rahilly’s construction [A. Rahilly, On the line structure of designs, Discrete Math. 92 (1991) 291-303]. The parameter set 2-(64,16,5) is one of two known sets when there exists several nonisomorphic designs with the same parameters and p-rank as the design obtained from the points and subspaces of a given dimension in affine geometry AG(n,pm) (p a prime). It is established that an affine 2-(64,16,5) design of 2-rank 16 that is associated with a Hadamard 2-(63,31,15) design invariant under the dihedral group of order 10 is either isomorphic to the classical design of the points and hyperplanes in AG(3,4), or is one of the two exceptional designs found by Harada, Lam and Tonchev [M. Harada, C. Lam, V.D. Tonchev, Symmetric (4, 4)-nets and generalized Hadamard matrices over groups of order 4, Designs Codes Cryptogr. 34 (2005) 71-87].  相似文献

Skew Hadamard designs (4n – 1, 2n – 1, n – 1) are associated to order 4n skew Hadamard matrices in the natural way. We study the codes spanned by their incidence matrices A and by I + A and show that they are self-dual after extension (resp. extension and augmentation) over fields of characteristic dividing n. Quadratic Residues codes are obtained in the case of the Paley matrix. Results on the p-rank of skew Hadamard designs are rederived in that way. Codes from skew Hadamard designs are classified. An optimal self-dual code over GF(5) is rediscovered in length 20. Six new inequivalent [56, 28, 16] self-dual codes over GF(7) are obtained from skew Hadamard matrices of order 56, improving the only known quadratic double circulant code of length 56 over GF(7).  相似文献

In this paper we introduce the notion of orbit matrices of Hadamard matrices with respect to their permutation automorphism groups and show that under certain conditions these orbit matrices yield self-orthogonal codes. As a case study, we construct codes from orbit matrices of some Paley type I and Paley type II Hadamard matrices. In addition, we construct four new symmetric (100,45,20) designs which correspond to regular Hadamard matrices, and construct codes from their orbit matrices. The codes constructed include optimal, near-optimal self-orthogonal and self-dual codes, over finite fields and over Z4.  相似文献

Symmetric designs are used to construct binary extremal self-dual codes and Hadamard matrices and weighing matrices are used to construct extremal ternary self-dual codes. In this paper, we consider orthogonal designs and related matrices to construct self-dual codes over a larger alphabet. As an example, a number of extremal Type II codes over 2k are constructed.  相似文献

There are 5 groups of order 20. This paper reports on the search for binary self-dual codes of length 40, cocyclic over any one of the first four groups, using cocyclic Hadamard matrices and the [I, A] construction. The fifth group is not investigated here. A total of 28 classes of extremal cocyclic self-dual codes were found—27 of these are doubly-even and one singly-even. The majority of these classes arise from the dihedral-cocyclic Hadamard matrices. There is also a class of dihedral-cocyclic Hadamard matrices which gives a large collection of [40, 20] codes with only one codeword of length 4.  相似文献

We introduce power Hadamard matrices, in order to study the structure of (group) generalized Hadamard matrices, Butson (generalized) Hadamard matrices and other related orthogonal matrices, with which they share certain common characteristics. The new objects turn out to be as interesting, and perhaps as useful, as the objects that motivated them.We develop a basic theory of power Hadamard matrices, explore these relationships, and offer some new insights into old results. For example, we show that all 4×4 Butson Hadamard matrices are equivalent to circulant ones, and how to move between equivalence classes. We provide, among other new things, an infinite family of circulant Butson Hadamard matrices that extends a known class to include one of each positive integer order.Dedication: In 1974 Jennifer Seberry (Wallis) introduced what was then a totally new structure, orthogonal designs, in order to study the existence and construction of Hadamard matrices. They have proved their worth for this purpose, and have also become an object of interest for their own sake and in applications (e.g., [H.J.V. Tarok, A.R. Calderbank, Space-time block codes from orthogonal designs, IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory 45 (1999) 1456-1467. [26]]). Since then many other generalizations of Hadamard matrices have been introduced, including some discussed herein. In the same spirit we introduce a new object showing this kind of promise.Seberry's contributions to this field are not limited to her own work, of which orthogonal designs are but one example—she has mentored many young mathematicians who have expanded her legacy by making their own marks in this field. It is fitting, therefore, that our contribution to this volume is a collaboration between one who has worked in this field for over a decade and an undergraduate student who had just completed his third year of study at the time of the work.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate Hadamard matrices of order 2(p + 1) with an automorphism of odd prime order p. In particular, the classification of such Hadamard matrices for the cases p = 19 and 23 is given. Self‐dual codes related to such Hadamard matrices are also investigated. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Five non-isomorphic quasi-symmetric 2-(49, 9, 6) designs are known. They arise from extremal self-dual [50, 25, 10] codes with a certain weight enumerator. Four of them have an automorphism of order 3 fixing two points. In this paper, it is shown that there are exactly 48 inequivalent extremal self-dual [50, 25, 10] code with this weight enumerator and an automorphism of order 3 fixing two points. 44 new quasi-symmetric 2-(49, 9, 6) designs with an automorphism of order 3 are constructed from these codes.  相似文献

The symmetric class-regular (4,4)-nets having a group of bitranslations G of order four are enumerated up to isomorphism. There are 226 nets with , and 13 nets with . Using a (4,4)-net with full automorphism group of smallest order, the lower bound on the number of pairwise non-isomorphic affine 2-(64,16,5) designs is improved to 21,621,600. The classification of class-regular (4,4)-nets implies the classification of all generalized Hadamard matrices (or difference matrices) of order 16 over a group of order four up to monomial equivalence. The binary linear codes spanned by the incidence matrices of the nets, as well as the quaternary and -codes spanned by the generalized Hadamard matrices are computed and classified. The binary codes include the affine geometry [64,16,16] code spanned by the planes in AG(3,4) and two other inequivalent codes with the same weight distribution. These codes support non-isomorphic affine 2-(64,16,5) designs that have the same 2-rank as the classical affine design in AG(3,4), hence provide counter-examples to Hamadas conjecture. Many of the -codes spanned by generalized Hadamard matrices are self-orthogonal with respect to the Hermitian inner product and yield quantum error-correcting codes, including some codes with optimal parameters.Vladimir D. Under the assumption that the incidence matrix of a 2-(45, 12, 3) design has a certain block structure, we determine completely the number of nonisomorphic designs involved. We discover 1136 such designs with trivial automorphism group. In addition we analyze all 2-(45, 12, 3) designs having an automorphism of order 5 or 11. Altogether, the total number of nonisomorphic 2-(45, 12, 3) designs found in 3752. Many of these designs are self-dual and each of these self-dual designs possess a polarity. Some have polarities with no absolute points, giving rise to strongly regular (45, 12, 3, 3) graphs. In total we discovered 58 pairwise nonisomorphic strongly regular graphs, one of which has a trivial automorphism group. Further, we analyzed completely all the designs for subdesigns with parameters 2-(12, 4, 3), 2-(9, 3, 3), and 2-(5, 4, 3). In the first case, the number of 2-(12, 4, 3) subdesigns that a design possessed, if non-zero, turned out to be a multiple of 3, whereas 2-(9, 3, 3) subdesigns were so abundant it was more unusual to find a design without them. Finally, in the case of 2-(5, 4, 3) subdesigns there is a design, unique amongst the ones discovered, that has precisely 9 such subdesigns and these form a partition of the point set of the design. This design has a transitive group of automorphisms of order 360. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

All extremal binary self-dual [50,25,10] codes with an automorphism of order 7 are enumerated. Up to equivalence, there are four such codes, three with full automorphism group of order 21, and one code with full group of order 7. The minimum weight codewords yield quasi-symmetric 2-(49,9,6) designs.Research supported in part by NSA grant MDA904-95-H-1019.  相似文献

It is shown that the row spaces of certain generalized weighing matrices, Bhaskar Rao designs, and generalized Hadamard matrices over a finite field of order q are hermitian self-orthogonal codes. Certain matrices of minimum rank yield optimal codes. In the special case when q=4, the codes are linked to quantum error-correcting codes, including some codes with optimal parameters.  相似文献

In 2003 Harada and Tonchev showed a construction of self-orthogonal codes from orbit matrices of block designs with fixed-point-free automorphisms. We describe a construction of self-orthogonal codes from orbit matrices of 2-designs admitting certain automorphisms with fixed points (and blocks). Further, we present a construction of self-orthogonal codes from quotient matrices of divisible designs and divisible design graphs.  相似文献

Weaving is a matrix construction developed in 1990 for the purpose of obtaining new weighing matrices. Hadamard matrices obtained by weaving have the same orders as those obtained using the Kronecker product, but weaving affords greater control over the internal structure of matrices constructed, leading to many new Hadamard equivalence classes among these known orders. It is known that different classes of Hadamard matrices may have different maximum excess. We explain why those classes with smaller excess may be of interest, apply the method of weaving to explore this question, and obtain constructions for new Hadamard matrices with maximum excess in their respective classes. With this method, we are also able to construct Hadamard matrices of near‐maximal excess with ease, in orders too large for other by‐hand constructions to be of much value. We obtain new lower bounds for the maximum excess among Hadamard matrices in some orders by constructing candidates for the largest excess. For example, we construct a Hadamard matrix with excess 1408 in order 128, larger than all previously known values. We obtain classes of Hadamard matrices of order 96 with maximum excess 912 and 920, which demonstrates that the maximum excess for classes of that order may assume at least three different values. Since the excess of a woven Hadamard matrix is determined by the row sums of the matrices used to weave it, we also investigate the properties of row sums of Hadamard matrices and give lists of them in small orders. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, we consider the maximum cocliques of the 211: M24 ‐graph Λ. We show that the maximum cocliques of size 24 of Λ can be obtained from two Hadamard matrices of size 24, and that there are exactly two maximum cocliques up to equivalence. We verify that the two nonisomorphic designs with parameters 5‐(24,9,6) can be constructed from the maximum cocliques of Λ, and that these designs are isomorphic to the support designs of minimum weights of the ternary extended quadratic residue and Pless symmetry [24,12,9] codes. Further, we give a new construction of Λ from these 5‐(24,9,6) designs. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Combin Designs 17: 323–332, 2009  相似文献

In this paper we give constructions of self-orthogonal and self-dual codes, with respect to certain scalar products, with the help of orbit matrices of block designs and quotient matrices of symmetric (group) divisible designs (SGDDs) with the dual property. First we describe constructions from block designs and their extended orbit matrices, where the orbit matrices are induced by the action of an automorphism group of the design. Further, we give some further constructions of self-dual codes from symmetric block designs and their orbit matrices. Moreover, in a similar way as for symmetric designs, we give constructions of self-dual codes from SGDDs with the dual property and their quotient matrices.  相似文献

Combinatorial designs have been used widely in the construction of self-dual codes. Recently a new method of constructing self-dual codes was established using orthogonal designs. This method has led to the construction of many new self-dual codes over small finite fields and rings. In this paper, we generalize this method by using generalized orthogonal designs, and we give another new method that creates and solves Diophantine equations over GF(p) in order to find suitable generator matrices for self-dual codes. We show that under the necessary conditions these methods can be applied as well to small and large fields. We apply these two methods to study self-dual codes over GF(31) and GF(37). Using these methods we obtain some new maximum distance separable self-dual codes of small orders.  相似文献
