Pt(trpy)Cl+, where trpy denotes 2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine, is a versatile binding agent but has a limited photochemistry due to a short excited-state lifetime. However, this work shows that the introduction of aryl substituents at the 4' position of the trpy ligand drastically alters the picture. For the substituents phenyl, p-methoxyphenyl, 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl, 9-phenanthrenyl, and 1-pyrenyl, the ligand abbrevations are 4'-Ph-T, 4'-pMeOPh-T, 4'-Npl-T, 4'-Np2-T, 4'-Phe9-T, and 4'-Pyre1-T, respectively. Techniques utilized include electrochemistry as well as absorption and emission spectroscopies. While the lowest energy excited states of Pt(4'-Ph-T)Cl+ and the parent complex Pt(trpy)Cl+ exhibit mainly metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) character, the emitting state takes on aryl-to-trpy intraligand charge-transfer (ILCT) character as the substituents become more electron-donating. Studies of Zn(trpy)Cl2, its aryl-substituted analogues, and the free ligands themselves provide information about the relative energies of participating ILCT and intraligand 3pi-pi excited states. Even though the emission energy decreases when larger aryl groups are present, the emission lifetime increases all the way from 85 ns for Pt(4'-Ph-T)Cl+ to 64 micros for Pt(4'-Pyre1-T)Cl+. (Data from deoxygenated, room-temperature dichloromethane solution.) Intraligand character appears to dominate in the case of Pt(4'-Pyre1-T)Cl+, which is unique in the series in that it exhibits singlet and triplet emissions in solution. In aerated solution the complex shows prompt as well as delayed fluorescence. Finally, studies in donor media establish that the introduction of intraligand character inhibits solvent-induced exciplex quenching.  相似文献

Neutral orthometalated platinum(II) complexes of the deprotonated 6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand (bearing a trialkoxygallate, tolyl, ethynyltrialkoxygallate, or ethynyltolyl substituent) and a sigma-bonded Cl, ethynyltolyl, or ethynyltrialkoxygallate coligand have been prepared by a stepwise procedure based on copper-promoted cross-coupling reactions. The X-ray structure of the [2-(p-tolyl)ethynyl][4-{2-(p-tolyl)ethynyl}-6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridyl)]platinum(II) complex revealed a coplanar arrangement of all residues bound to platinum, although the tolylethynyl groups exhibit position-dependent bending in the solid state. The complexes exhibit charge-transfer absorption in the visible region. All except two of the complexes also exhibit charge-transfer emission, typically from an excited state that has a submicrosecond lifetime at room temperature in deoxygenated dichloromethane solution. In accordance with the presence of a carbometalated polypyridine ligand, the emitting state is assumed to have a mixture of metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) and intra-ligand charge-transfer (ILCT) character. However, spectral comparisons and electrochemical data suggest that the emissive state also exhibits interligand charge-transfer (LLCT) character when an electron-rich ethynylaryl group is bound to platinum. In keeping with altered orbital parentage in the latter systems, the emission occurs at longer wavelength. The excited-state lifetime is also shorter, evidently due to vibronic interactions. The decay is so efficient when an ethynyltrialkoxygallate group binds to platinum that there is no detectable emission in fluid solution, although the complexes do emit in a frozen glass. The excited states are subject to associative (exciplex) quenching by Lewis bases, but the admixture of ILCT and/or LLCT character diminishes efficiency, except for relatively strong bases like dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethylformamide.  相似文献

As part of an effort to develop new lumaphors involving late transition metal ions, this report describes the synthesis and characterization of the first platinum(II) derivatives containing 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine (trpy) and cyanide as co-ligands. According to existing models, including cyanide in the coordination sphere should raise the energies and minimize the influence of short-lived d-d excited states that otherwise compromise the excited-state lifetime. Both [Pt(trpy)(CN)]+ and the 4'-cyano-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine analogue [Pt(CN-T)(CN)]+ are emissive in dichloromethane solution, but the signals are weak. Part of the problem is that the d-pi* charge-transfer excited states also rise in energy, so that the emission actually originates from a (3)pi-pi* state with a relatively low radiative rate constant. However, another member of the series, the 4'-dimethylamino-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine (dma-T) derivative [Pt(dma-T)(CN)]+, proves to be a very promising platform with an emission quantum yield of phi= 0.26 and an excited-state lifetime of tau = 22 micros in room-temperature, deoxygenated dichloromethane solution. In the dma-T complex the electron-rich dimethylamino substituent provides the basis for an emissive, but largely ligand-based, charge-transfer excited state. The orbital parentage is such that the photoluminescence persists in donating solvents like dimethylformamide, which ordinarily quenches d-pi* excited states in complexes of this type.  相似文献

The first spectroscopic investigation of Pd(qol)2 (qol- = 8-quinolinolato-N,O = oxinate) dissolved in an n-octane matrix (Shpol'skii matrix) is reported. Application of several spectroscopic methods at liquid helium temperatures (typically, T = 1.2 K), such as site-selective and highly resolved luminescence and excitation spectroscopy, time-resolved emission spectroscopy, optically detected magnetic resonance, microwave recovery, phosphorescence microwave double-resonance, and magnetic fields, allows us to characterize the lowest excited electronic states in detail. In accord with previous assignments for the related Pt(qol)2 it is shown that these lowest states represent-intraligand charge-transfer states, namely, 1ILCT and 3ILCT. The electronic origin of the 1ILCT state lies at 20,617 cm(-1) (site A). It exhibits a nearly homogeneous line width with a half-width of about 80 cm(-1) (fwhm), which corresponds to a lifetime of tau(1ILCT) approximately equals 2 x 10(-13) s. This value is even shorter than that found for Pt(qol)2, presumably due to intersystem crossings and relaxations to dd* states. The electronic origin of the 3ILCT state lies at 16 090 cm(-1) (site A), and its zero-field splittings (zfs) into three sublevels are 2E = 2356 MHz (0.0785 cm(-1)) and D - E = 5241 MHz (0.175 cm(-1)). The emission decay times of the three sublevels are determined as tauI = 90 +/- 30 ms, tau(II) = 180 +/- 10 mus, and tau(II) = 80 +/- 10 mus. (Slightly different values are found for a second site B at 16,167 cm(-1).) From the small values of zfs and the long emission decay times it is concluded that metal-d or MLCT admixtures to 3ILCT are very small. This result clearly reflects the ligand-centered character of the transition. The assignment as an ILCT transition is supported by the occurrence of relatively strong vibrational satellites of Pd-N and Pd-O character in highly resolved emission spectra. Although the transition is ascribed to a charge-transfer process, the geometry changes between the ground state and 3ILCT are very small. The results found for Pd(qol)2 are compared to those of companion studies of Pt(qol)2 and Pt(qtl)2 (qtl- = 8-quinolinethiolato-N,S).  相似文献

A series of platinum(II) terpyridyl alkynyl complexes, [Pt{4'-(4-R1-C6H4)terpy}(C[triple chemical bond]C-C6H4-R(2)-4)]ClO4 (terpy=2,2':6',2'-terpyridyl; R1=R2=N(CH3)2 (1); R1=N(CH3)2, R2=N-[15]monoazacrown-5 (2); R1=CH3, R2=N(CH3)2 (3); R1=N(CH3)2, R2=H (4); R1=CH3, R2=H (5)), has been synthesized and the photophysical properties of the complexes have been examined through measurement of their UV/Vis absorption spectra, photoluminescence spectra, and transient absorptions. Complex 3 shows a lowest-energy absorption corresponding to a ligand-to-ligand charge-transfer (LLCT) transition from the acetylide to the terpyridyl ligand, whereas 4 shows an intraligand charge-transfer (ILCT) transition from the pi orbital of the 4'-phenyl group to the pi* orbital of the terpyridyl. Upon protonation of the amino groups in 3 and 4, their lowest-energy excited states are switched to dpi(Pt)-->pi*(terpy) metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) states. The lowest-energy absorption for 1 and 2 may be attributed to an LLCT transition from the acetylide to the terpyridyl. Upon addition of an acid to a solution of 1 or 2, the amino group on the acetylide is protonated first, followed by the amino group on the terpyridyl. Thus, the lowest excited state of 1 and 2 can be successively switched from the LLCT state to the ILCT state and then to the MLCT state by controlling the amount of the acid added. Such switches in the excited state are fully reversible upon subsequent addition of a base to the solution. Sequential addition of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal ions and then an acid to a solution of 2 also leads to switching of its lowest excited state from the LLCT state, first to the ILCT state and then to the MLCT state. All of the complexes exhibit a transient absorption of the terpyridyl anion radical, which is present in all of the LLCT, ILCT, and MLCT states. However, the shape of the transient absorption spectrum depends on both the substitution pattern on the terpyridyl moiety and the nature of the excited state.  相似文献

The photophysical behavior of novel bimetallic Ru(II) and Os(II) complexes having a bridging ligand consisting of two terpyridyl moieties covalently linked in the 4′ position through a distyrylbenzene bridge (tp vp vpt) is reported. The Ru(II) complex has a unique red emission with an excited state lifetime nearly 2000-times longer than the parent complex, [Ru(mpt)2](PF6)2 (mpt=4′-(methylphenyl)-2,2′,6′,2″-terpyridine). Combined spectral data suggest the presence of an emissive intra-ligand charge-transfer (ILCT) state lower in energy than the metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) state. The Os(II) complex exhibits red emission that is similar to that of the parent complex [Os(mpt)2](PF6)2. However, the excited state absorption spectrum reveals a unique transient absorption in the far red that suggests perturbation of the MLCT state by the ILCT state.  相似文献

This research deals with the synthesis and characterization of a new series of platinum(II) polypyridine complexes that incorporate a relatively rigid and hydrophobic ligand. The parent complex Pt(php)Cl(+), where php denotes 2-(2'-pyridyl)-1,10-phenanthroline, resembles Pt(trpy)Cl(+), where trpy denotes 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine, but is photoluminescent in solution. Hence php derivatives should prove to be superior tags and/or spectroscopic probes for biological systems. A theoretical analysis reveals some of the advantages of php over trpy as a platform. Due to a ligand pi system with a relatively small HOMO-LUMO gap, the emission from Pt(php)Cl(+) exhibits significant vibrational structure and a mixed (3)pi-pi*/(3)d-pi* orbital parentage. In deoxygenated dichloromethane solution the php complex exhibits an emission quantum yield of 3.1 x 10(-3) and an excited-state lifetime of 0.23 micros at room temperature. However, methyl groups have an unusually strong stereoelectronic influence, particularly at the 5,6-positions of the phenanthroline moiety. The platinum(II) complex with 2-(2'-pyridyl)-3,5,6,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline is the best emitter with an emission yield of 0.055 and a lifetime of 9.3 micros in dichloromethane. Strongly donating solvents like dimethylformamide are potent quenchers of the emission. The methods of characterization used include absorption and emission spectroscopies, electrochemistry, and, in the case of [Pt[2-(2'-pyridyl)-4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline]Cl]O(3)SCF(3), X-ray crystallography. Another intriguing finding is that methyl substituents have preferred orientations with respect to the phenanthroline ligand.  相似文献

The electronic structures and spectroscopic properties of [(4′-XC≡Ctrpy)PtCl]+(trpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine; X = H (1), methyl (Me) (2), and phenyl (Ph) (3) were studied by the ab initio method. The structures at the ground and excited state were optimized at the B3LYP and CIS levels, respectively. The absorption and emission spectra in the dichloromethane solution were obtained by using the TD-DFT (B3LYP) method associated with the PCM model. The molecular orbital energy of the HOMOs of 1–3 with the d(Pt), p(Cl), π(trpy), and π(XC≡C) character is sensitive to the substituents on the acetylide ligand, but that of the trpy-based LUMOs with the π*(trpy) character varies slightly. The lowest lying emission at 503 nm for 1 is mainly attributed to the 3ILCT perturbed by the 3MLCT and 3LLCT transitions, but that at 535 nm for 2, and that at 558 nm for 3 are mainly attributed to the 3LLCT perturbed by the 3ILCT and 3MLCT transitions. The different electron-donating ability of H, Me, and Ph is responsible for the differences in emission character. Moreover, the calculation results show that the phosphorescent color can be turned by adjusting the substituents. Both the lowest energy absorption and emission of 1–3 are red-shifted in the order of 1<2<3, consistent with the electron-donating of H<Me<Ph.  相似文献

The synthesis, structural characterization, and photoluminescence (PL) properties of the square-planar terpyridylplatinum(II) complex [ ( t )Bu 3tpyPtCCtpy] (+) ( 1) and the octahedral trinuclear Fe (II) and Zn (II) analogues [Fe( ( t )Bu 3tpyPtCCtpy) 2] (4+) ( 2) and [Zn( ( t )Bu 3tpyPtCCtpy) 2] (4+) ( 3) are described. The photophysical properties of the mononuclear Pt (II) complex 1 are consistent with a charge-transfer excited-state parentage producing a large Stokes shift with a concomitant broad, structureless emission profile. The Fe-based ligand-field states in 2 provide an efficient nonradiative deactivation pathway for excited-state decay, resulting in a nonemissive compound at room temperature. Interestingly, upon chelation of 1 with Zn (II), a higher energy charge-transfer emission with a low-energy shoulder and a 215 ns excited-state lifetime is produced in 3. A spectroscopically identical species relative to 3 was produced in control experiments when 1 was reacted with excess protons (HClO 4) as ascertained by UV-vis and static PL spectra measured at room temperature and 77 K. Therefore, the chelation of Zn (II) to 1 is acid-base in nature, and its Lewis acidity renders the highest occupied molecular orbital level in 1 much less electron-rich, which induces a blue shift in both the absorption and emission spectra. At 77 K, complexes 1, 3, and protonated 1 display at least one prevalent vibronic component in the emission profile (1360 cm (-1)) resembling PL emanating from a ligand-localized excited-state, indicating that these emitting states are inverted relative to room temperature. These results are qualitatively confirmed by the application of time-dependent theory using only the 1360 cm (-1) mode to reproduce the low-temperature emission spectra.  相似文献

Increasing the metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) excited state lifetime of polypyridine iron(II) complexes can be achieved by lowering the ligand's π* orbital energy and by increasing the ligand field splitting. In the homo- and heteroleptic complexes [Fe(cpmp)2]2+ ( 12+ ) and [Fe(cpmp)(ddpd)]2+ ( 22+ ) with the tridentate ligands 6,2’’-carboxypyridyl-2,2’-methylamine-pyridyl-pyridine (cpmp) and N,N’-dimethyl-N,N’-di-pyridin-2-ylpyridine-2,6-diamine (ddpd) two or one dipyridyl ketone moieties provide low energy π* acceptor orbitals. A good metal-ligand orbital overlap to increase the ligand field splitting is achieved by optimizing the octahedricity through CO and NMe units between the coordinating pyridines which enable the formation of six-membered chelate rings. The push-pull ligand cpmp provides intra-ligand and ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (ILCT, LL'CT) excited states in addition to MLCT excited states. Ground and excited state properties of 12+ and 22+ were accessed by X-ray diffraction analyses, resonance Raman spectroscopy, (spectro)electrochemistry, EPR spectroscopy, X-ray emission spectroscopy, static and time-resolved IR and UV/Vis/NIR absorption spectroscopy as well as quantum chemical calculations.  相似文献

The carbometalated complex Pt(dppzφ*)Cl, where dppzφ* denotes the 6-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine ligand, exhibits emission in a dichloromethane solution at room temperature with a concentration-dependent excited-state lifetime. Extrapolation to zero Pt(dppzφ*)Cl concentration yields a limiting lifetime of 11.0 μs in the absence of dioxygen along with an impressive emission quantum yield of 0.17. The visible absorption of Pt(dppzφ*)Cl has intraligand charge-transfer as well as metal-to-ligand charge-transfer character, but the oscillator strength may derive, in part, from π-π* excitation within the phenazine moiety. An intriguing aspect of the Pt(dppzφ*)Cl system is that its reactive excited state is subject to regiospecific quenching by Lewis bases and hydrogen-bonding Lewis acids. Base-induced quenching involves an attack at the platinum center. The rate constant increases with the donor strength of the quencher and reaches the order of 10(8) M(-1) s(-1) with a relatively strong base like dimethyl sulfoxide. The orbital parentage of the excited state probably influences the quenching rates by affecting the charge density at platinum, as well as at the phenazine nitrogen atoms, where attack by Lewis acids occurs. With mildly acidic alcohols like 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropan-2-ol and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol, high concentrations of the quencher are necessary to suppress the emission. Carboxylic acids are stronger quenchers, and the quenching constant increases with the acid strength according to tabulated pK(a) values. Cyanoacetic acid exhibits the highest measured quenching rate constant (2.6 × 10(9) M(-1) s(-1)), which only decreases 30% when the acid is in the (NC)CH(2)CO(2)D form. A weaker acid, CH(3)CO(2)H, exhibits an even smaller kinetic isotope effect. Literature comparisons suggest that acid-induced quenching probably involves hydrogen-bond formation as opposed to net proton transfer.  相似文献

The structural geometry, electronic structure, photophysical properties, and the fluxional behavior of a series of A-frame diplatinum alkynyl complexes, [Pt(2)(μ-dppm)(2)(μ-C≡CR)(C≡CR)(2)](+) [R = (t)Bu (1), C(6)H(5) (2), C(6)H(4)Ph-p (3), C(6)H(4)Et-p (4), C(6)H(4)OMe-p (5); dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane], have been studied by density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent TD-DFT associated with conductor-like polarizable continuum model (CPCM) calculations. The results show that the Pt···Pt distance strongly depends on the binding mode of the alkynyl ligands. A significantly shorter Pt···Pt distance is found in the symmetrical form, in which the bridging alkynyl ligand is σ-bound to the two metal centers, than in the unsymmetrical form where the alkynyl ligand is σ-bound to one metal and π-bound to another. For the two structural forms in 1-5, both the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels show a dependence on the nature of the substituents attached to the alkynyl ligand. The energies of the HOMO and LUMO are found to increase and decrease, respectively, from R = (t)Bu to R = Ph and to R = C(6)H(4)Ph-p, because of the increase of the π- conjugation of the alkynyl ligand. On the basis of the TDDFT/CPCM calculations, the low-energy absorption band consists of two types of transitions, which are ligand-to-ligand charge-transfer (LLCT) [π(alkynyl) → σ*(dppm)]/metal-centered MC [dσ*(Pt(2)) → pσ(Pt(2))] transitions as well as interligand π → π* transition from the terminal alkynyl ligands to the bridging alkynyl ligand mixed with metal-metal-to-ligand charge transfer MMLCT [dσ*(Pt(2)) → π*(bridging alkynyl)] transition. The latter transition is lower in energy than the former. The calculation also indicates that the emission for the complexes originates from the triplet interligand π(terminal alkynyls) → π*(bridging alkynyl)/MMLCT [dσ*(Pt(2)) → π*(bridging alkynyl)] excited state. In terms of the fluxional behavior, calculations have been performed to study the details of the mechanisms for the three fluxional processes, which are the σ,π-alkynyl exchange, the ring-flipping, and the bridging-to-terminal alkynyl exchange processes.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of [Pt{4'-(R)trpy}(CN)]X (R = Ph, X = BF(4) or SbF(6); R = o-CH(3)C(6)H(4), X = SbF(6); R = o-ClC(6)H(4), X = SbF(6); or R = o-CF(3)C(6)H(4), X = SbF(6)) are described where trpy = 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine. Single crystals of [Pt{4'-(Ph)trpy}(CN)]BF(4).CH(3)CN were grown by vapour diffusion of diethyl ether into an acetonitrile solution of [Pt{4'-(Ph)trpy}(CN)]BF(4). An X-ray crystal structure determination of the solvated complex confirms the near linear coordination of the cyanide ligand to the platinum centre. The cation is almost planar as evidenced by a twist of only 1.9 degrees of the phenyl group out of the plane of the terpyridyl moiety. Cyclic voltammograms were recorded in DMF/0.1 M TBAH for the [Pt{4'-(R)trpy}(CN)](+) cations. Two quasi-reversible one-electron reduction (cathodic) waves are observed with E(1/2) values that show the trend expected for an increasingly lower energy of the trpy-based LUMO of the complex i.e., [Pt{4'-(Ph)trpy}(CN)](+) approximately [Pt{4'-(o-CH(3)C(6)H(4))trpy}(CN)](+) < [Pt{4'-(o-ClC(6)H(4))trpy}(CN)](+) < [Pt{4'-(o-CF(3)C(6)H(4))trpy}(CN)](+). All the [Pt(4'-(R)trpy}(CN)](+) cations are photoluminescent in dichloromethane. Emission by [Pt{4'-(Ph)trpy}(CN)](+) is from an excited state with largely (3)MLCT orbital parentage, but with some intraligand (3)pi-pi* character mixed-in (tau = 0.1 micros). In contrast, the other three cations display emission that appears exclusively intraligand (3)pi-pi* in origin (tau approximately 0.8 micros). Emission spectra have been recorded in a low concentration frozen DME {1 : 5 : 5 (v/v) DMF-MeOH-EtOH} glass. For the R = o-CH(3)C(6)H(4), o-ClC(6)H(4) and o-CF(3)C(6)H(4) cations the envelope of vibronic structure and energies of the vibrational components are essentially the same as that recorded in dichloromethane. However, for the [Pt{4'-(Ph)trpy}(CN)](+) cation, there is a blue-shift in the energies of the vibrational components as compared to that recorded in dichloromethane, as well as a change in the envelope of vibronic structure to a more "domed" pattern; this has been interpreted in terms of a higher percentage of intraligand (3)pi-pi* character in the emitting state for the glass. Increasing the concentration of the glass invariably leads to aggregation of the cations and the consequent development of new low energy bands, such that at 0.200 mM broad peaks centred at ca. 650 and 700 nm dominate the spectrum; these bands are assigned to excimeric (3)pi-pi* and (3)MMLCT emission, respectively.  相似文献

A series of new luminescent cyclometalated platinum(II) complexes functionalized with various substituted styryl groups on the cyclometallating ligand [Pt(C/\N-ppy-4-styryl-R)(O/\O-(O)CCR'CHCR'C(O))] (ppy-4-styryl-R = E-4(4-(R)styryl-2-phenylpyridine) (3, R' = Me (acac); 4, R' = (t)Bu (dpm); R = H, OMe, NEt2, NO2) have been prepared. All complexes undergo an E-Z photoisomerization process in CH2Cl2 solution under sunlight, as monitored by 1H NMR. The solid-state structures of 3-OMe, 3-NEt2, 3-NO2, and 4-OMe have been determined by X-ray diffraction studies and compare well with optimized geometries obtained by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The orbital pictures of 3-H, 3-OMe, and 3-NO 2 are very similar, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) being highly Pt(5d) metal-based. For 3-NMe2, an additional contribution from the amino-styryl fragment leads to a decreased metal parentage of the HOMO, suggesting a predominantly ILCT character transition. Complexes 3-H, 3-OMe, and 3-NO2 show a low-energy band (350-400 nm) assigned to predominantly charge-transfer transitions. The amino derivative 3-NEt2 displays a very strong absorption band at 432 nm, tentatively assigned to a mixture of ILCT (Et2N --> CH=CH) and metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) (dpi(Pt) --> pi) transitions. Complexes 3 are weakly luminescent in CH2Cl2 solution at room temperature; the low intensity may be due to a competitive quenching through the E-Z photoisomerization process. All complexes exhibit similar structured emission bands under these conditions (around 520 nm), independent of the nature of the styryl-R group. In a frozen EPA glass (77 K), the spectrum of the representative complex 3-H exhibits two sets of vibronically structured bands (460-560, 570-800 nm; lambda(max) = 596 nm), due to the presence of two emitting species, the E and Z isomers, which have significantly different triplet excited-state energies. The other three complexes show similar behavior to 3-H at 77 K, but the lower-energy emission bands are progressively red-shifted in the order H < OMe < NO2 < NEt2 (e.g., for 3-NEt2, lambda(max)(em) = 658 nm; tau = 26 micros). The very large red-shift compared to related unsubstituted complexes (e.g., to [Pt(C/\N-ppy)(O/\O-acac)]) is the result of the extension of the pi-conjugated system and the electronic effects of substituent R.  相似文献

A novel class of luminescent dialkynylgold(III) complexes containing various phenylpyridine and phenylisoquinoline-type bidentate ligands has been successfully synthesized and characterized. The structures of some of them have also been determined by X-ray crystallography. Electrochemical studies demonstrate the presence of a ligand-centered reduction originating from the cyclometalating C^N ligand, whereas the first oxidation wave is associated with an alkynyl ligand-centered oxidation. The electronic absorption and photoluminescence properties of the complexes have also been investigated. In dichloromethane solution at room temperature, the low-energy absorption bands are assigned as the metal-perturbed π-π* intraligand (IL) transition of the cyclometalating C^N ligand, with mixing of charge-transfer character from the aryl ring to the pyridine or isoquinoline moieties of the cyclometalating C^N ligand. The low-energy emission bands of the complexes in fluid solution at room temperature are ascribed to originate from the metal-perturbed π-π* IL transition of the cyclometalatng C^N ligand. For complex 4 that contains an electron-rich amino substituent on the alkynyl ligand, a structureless emission band, instead of one with vibronic structures as in the other complexes, was observed, which was assigned as being derived from an excited state of a [π(C≡CC(6) H(4) NH(2) )→π*(C^N)] ligand-to-ligand charge-transfer (LLCT) transition.

A series of novel luminescent platinum(II) complexes bearing orthometalated 2-phenylpyridine ligands (C N), namely 2-phenylpyridine (4) and 3-hexyloxy-2-phenylpyridine (5), and several 5-substituted quinolinolate ligands (5-X-Q), where X = NO2 (a), X = CHO (b), X = Cl (bearing another Cl in 7-position of the Q-ligand) (c) and X = H (d) have been synthesized, characterized and their photophysical properties were studied. All complexes were obtained as a single isomer with N atoms of the C N and Q ligands trans-coordinated to the platinum center as evidenced using single-crystal X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. Absorbance, luminescence as well as lifetime measurements in solution and in the solid state have been performed to establish a qualitative relationship between structure and luminescence properties. The compounds under investigation absorb intensively via an intraligand charge transfer (ILCT) in the visible range (460-480 nm) and emit from fluid solution and in the solid state at room temperature at 600-630 nm. The complexes show quantum yields up to 25% and lifetimes in the range of 20-30 micros in deoxygenated organic solvents at room temperature. The emitting state can be best described as a triplet intraligand charge-transfer state localized mainly on the quinolinolate ligand. In these complexes the phenylpyridine ligand can be essentially regarded as an ancillary ligand. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out on both the ground (singlet) and excited (triplet) states of these complexes and revealed the influence of the substitution of the quinolinolate ligand on the HOMO/LUMO energies and the oscillator strengths. Substitution on 3-position of the phenylpyridine ligand does not impact on the transition energies, and is thus suited to introduce other functional moieties, such as a solubilizing hexyloxy group.  相似文献

A series of Osmium(II) complexes [Os (trpy-R)2]2+(trpy=2,2′,6′,2′′-terpyridine and R=H (1), OH (2), and C6H5(3)) have been investigated by the density functional (DF) and ab initio calculations. The structures of 1–3 in the ground and excited states were fully optimized at the B3LYP and CIS level, respectively, and their absorption and emission spectra in the acetonitrile solution were obtained using the TD-DFT (B3LYP) method associated with the PCM model. The calculations indicated that, for 1–3, the variation of the substituents on the terpyridine ligand only slightly changes their geometrical structures in the ground and excited states but leads to a sizable difference in the electronic structures. The results show that the low-lying MLCT/ILCT transitions (at 446 (1), 465 (2), and 499 nm (3)) are red-shifted according to the electron-donating ability of substituents on the terpyridine ligand, but blue-shift trend of the high-lying ILCT transitions (at 301 (1), 297 (2), and 272 nm (3)). It also reveals that the lowest energy emissions of 1–3 at 649 nm, 656 nm, and 676 nm have the character of mixing 3[π*(trpy) → d(Os)] and 3 ππ* (3MLCT/3ILCT) transitions localized on the terpyridine ligand, which are identical to the transition properties of the lowest-energy absorptions.  相似文献

A novel Pt(II) terpyridine complex that has a nicotinamide moiety linked to the terpyridyl ligand has been synthesized in good yield and studied structurally and spectroscopically. The complex, [Pt(Nttpy)Cl](PF(6))(2) where Nttpy = 4'-(p-nicotinamide-N-methylphenyl)-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine, is observed to be brightly luminescent in the solid state at room temperature and at 77 K. The complex exhibits reversible vapochromic behavior and crystallographic change in the presence of several volatile organic solvents. Upon exposure to methanol vapors, the complex changes color from red to orange, and a shift to higher energy is observed in the emission maximum with an increase in excited-state lifetime and emission intensity. The crystal and molecular structures of the orange and red forms, determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction on the same single crystal, were found to be equivalent in the molecular sense and only modestly different in terms of packing. In both forms, the cationic Pt(II) complexes possess distorted square planar geometries. Analysis of the orange form's crystal packing reveals the presence of solvent molecules in lattice voids, Pt...Pt separations averaging 3.75 A and a zigzag arrangement between nearest neighbor Pt atoms, whereas the red form is devoid of solvent within the crystal lattice and contains complexes stacked with a nearly linear arrangement of Pt(II) ions having an average distance of 3.33 A. On the basis of the crystallographic data, it is evident that sorption of methanol vapor induces a change in intermolecular contacts and Pt...Pt interactions in going from red to orange. Disruption of the d(8)-d(8) metallophilic interactions consequently alters the emitting state from (3)[(d)sigma*-pi*(terpyridine)] that is formally a metal-metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MMLCT) state in the red form to one in which the HOMO corresponds to a more localized Pt(d) orbital in the red form ((3)MLCT).  相似文献
