This paper considers a class of bilevel linear programming problems in which the coefficients of both objective functions are fuzzy random variables. The main idea of this paper is to introduce the Pareto optimal solution in a multi-objective bilevel programming problem as a solution for a fuzzy random bilevel programming problem. To this end, a stochastic interval bilevel linear programming problem is first introduced in terms of α-cuts of fuzzy random variables. On the basis of an order relation of interval numbers and the expectation optimization model, the stochastic interval bilevel linear programming problem can be transformed into a multi-objective bilevel programming problem which is solved by means of weighted linear combination technique. In order to compare different optimal solutions depending on different cuts, two criterions are given to provide the preferable optimal solutions for the upper and lower level decision makers respectively. Finally, a production planning problem is given to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Bilevel programming involves two optimization problems where the constraint region of the upper level problem is implicitly determined by another optimization problem. In this paper we focus on bilevel problems over polyhedra with upper level constraints involving lower level variables. On the one hand, under the uniqueness of the optimal solution of the lower level problem, we prove that the fact that the objective functions of both levels are quasiconcave characterizes the property of the existence of an extreme point of the polyhedron defined by the whole set of constraints which is an optimal solution of the bilevel problem. An example is used to show that this property is in general violated if the optimal solution of the lower level problem is not unique. On the other hand, if the lower level objective function is not quasiconcave but convex quadratic, assuming the optimistic approach we prove that the optimal solution is attained at an extreme point of an ??enlarged?? polyhedron.

This paper presents a fuzzy bilevel programming approach to solve the flow shop scheduling problem. The problem considered here differs from the standard form in that operators are assigned to the machines and imposing a hierarchy of two decision makers with fuzzy processing times. The shop owner considered higher level and assigns the jobs to the machines in order to minimize the flow time while the customer is the lower level and decides on a job schedule in order to minimize the makespan. In this paper, we use the concepts of tolerance membership function at each level to define a fuzzy decision model for generating optimal (satisfactory) solution for bilevel flow shop scheduling problem. A solution algorithm for solving this problem is given.

A genetic algorithm for solving linear fractional bilevel problems
Bilevel programming has been proposed for dealing with decision processes involving two decision makers with a hierarchical structure. They are characterized by the existence of two optimization problems in which the constraint region of the upper level problem is implicitly determined by the lower level optimization problem. In this paper a genetic algorithm is proposed for the class of bilevel problems in which both level objective functions are linear fractional and the common constraint region is a bounded polyhedron. The algorithm associates chromosomes with extreme points of the polyhedron and searches for a feasible solution close to the optimal solution by proposing efficient crossover and mutation procedures. The computational study shows a good performance of the algorithm, both in terms of solution quality and computational time.

The paper is devoted to the stochastic optimistic bilevel optimization problem with quantile criterion in the upper level problem. If the probability distribution is finite, the problem can be transformed into a mixed‐integer nonlinear optimization problem. We formulate assumptions guaranteeing that an optimal solution exists. A production planning problem is used to illustrate usefulness of the model. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In the paper, the question is investigated if a bundle algorithm can be used to compute approximate solutions for bilevel programming problems where the lower level optimal solution is in general not uniquely determined. To give a positive answer to this question, an appropriate regularization approach is used in the lower level. In the general case, the resulting algorithm computes an approximate solution. If the problem proves to have strongly stable lower level solutions for all parameter values in a certain neighborhood of the stationary solutions of the bilevel problem, convergence to stationary solutions can be shown.

Penalty methods are very efficient in finding an optimal solution to constrained optimization problems. In this paper, we present an objective penalty function with two penalty parameters for inequality constrained bilevel programming under the convexity assumption to the lower level problem. Under some conditions, an optimal solution to a bilevel programming defined by the objective penalty function is proved to be an optimal solution to the original bilevel programming. Moreover, based on the objective penalty function, an algorithm is developed to obtain an optimal solution to the original bilevel programming, with its convergence proved under some conditions.

The fuzzy bilevel programming problem is solved in the paper [1] using an approach of fuzzy goal programming. Using a simple example we show that this will not lead to a satisfactory solution. Especially the fuzzy constraint that the upper level variable is near some desired one has no influence on the computed solution in the example. This constraint is used to model the hierarchy in the approach in [1]. At the end of the paper we suggest one straightforward possibility for modeling the fuzzy bilevel programming problem and converting it into a crisp substitute.

We consider a bilevel programming problem in Banach spaces whose lower level solution is unique for any choice of the upper level variable. A condition is presented which ensures that the lower level solution mapping is directionally differentiable, and a formula is constructed which can be used to compute this directional derivative. Afterwards, we apply these results in order to obtain first-order necessary optimality conditions for the bilevel programming problem. It is shown that these optimality conditions imply that a certain mathematical program with complementarity constraints in Banach spaces has the optimal solution zero. We state the weak and strong stationarity conditions of this problem as well as corresponding constraint qualifications in order to derive applicable necessary optimality conditions for the original bilevel programming problem. Finally, we use the theory to state new necessary optimality conditions for certain classes of semidefinite bilevel programming problems and present an example in terms of bilevel optimal control.

In this paper, we consider a simple bilevel program where the lower level program is a nonconvex minimization problem with a convex set constraint and the upper level program has a convex set constraint. By using the value function of the lower level program, we reformulate the bilevel program as a single level optimization problem with a nonsmooth inequality constraint and a convex set constraint. To deal with such a nonsmooth and nonconvex optimization problem, we design a smoothing projected gradient algorithm for a general optimization problem with a nonsmooth inequality constraint and a convex set constraint. We show that, if the sequence of penalty parameters is bounded then any accumulation point is a stationary point of the nonsmooth optimization problem and, if the generated sequence is convergent and the extended Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification holds at the limit then the limit point is a stationary point of the nonsmooth optimization problem. We apply the smoothing projected gradient algorithm to the bilevel program if a calmness condition holds and to an approximate bilevel program otherwise. Preliminary numerical experiments show that the algorithm is efficient for solving the simple bilevel program.

Global solution of nonlinear mixed-integer bilevel programs
An algorithm for the global optimization of nonlinear bilevel mixed-integer programs is presented, based on a recent proposal for continuous bilevel programs by Mitsos et al. (J Glob Optim 42(4):475–513, 2008). The algorithm relies on a convergent lower bound and an optional upper bound. No branching is required or performed. The lower bound is obtained by solving a mixed-integer nonlinear program, containing the constraints of the lower-level and upper-level programs; its convergence is achieved by also including a parametric upper bound to the optimal solution function of the lower-level program. This lower-level parametric upper bound is based on Slater-points of the lower-level program and subsets of the upper-level host sets for which this point remains lower-level feasible. Under suitable assumptions the KKT necessary conditions of the lower-level program can be used to tighten the lower bounding problem. The optional upper bound to the optimal solution of the bilevel program is obtained by solving an augmented upper-level problem for fixed upper-level variables. A convergence proof is given along with illustrative examples. An implementation is described and applied to a test set comprising original and literature problems. The main complication relative to the continuous case is the construction of the parametric upper bound to the lower-level optimal objective value, in particular due to the presence of upper-level integer variables. This challenge is resolved by performing interval analysis over the convex hull of the upper-level integer variables.

In this article, we consider bilevel optimization problems with discrete lower level and continuous upper level problems. Taking into account both approaches (optimistic and pessimistic) which have been developed in the literature to deal with this type of problem, we derive some conditions for the existence of solutions. In the case where the lower level is a parametric linear problem, the bilevel problem is transformed into a continuous one. After that, we are able to discuss local optimality conditions using tools of variational analysis for each of the different approaches. Finally, we consider a simple application of our results namely the bilevel programming problem with the minimum spanning tree problem in the lower level.

A penalty function method for solving inverse optimal value problem
In order to consider the inverse optimal value problem under more general conditions, we transform the inverse optimal value problem into a corresponding nonlinear bilevel programming problem equivalently. Using the Kuhn–Tucker optimality condition of the lower level problem, we transform the nonlinear bilevel programming into a normal nonlinear programming. The complementary and slackness condition of the lower level problem is appended to the upper level objective with a penalty. Then we give via an exact penalty method an existence theorem of solutions and propose an algorithm for the inverse optimal value problem, also analysis the convergence of the proposed algorithm. The numerical result shows that the algorithm can solve a wider class of inverse optimal value problem.

In this paper, we study the bilevel programming problem with discrete polynomial lower level problem. We start by transforming the problem into a bilevel problem comprising a semidefinite program (SDP for short) in the lower level problem. Then, we are able to deduce some conditions of existence of solutions for the original problem. After that, we again change the bilevel problem with SDP in the lower level problem into a semi-infinite program. With the aid of the exchange technique, for simple bilevel programs, an algorithm for computing a global optimal solution is suggested, the convergence is shown, and a numerical example is given.
