A chitosan resin functionalized with 3,4-diamino benzoic acid (CCTS-DBA resin) was newly synthesized by using a cross-linked chitosan (CCTS) as base material. The adsorption behavior of trace amounts of elements on the CCTS-DBA resin was examined by the pretreatment with a mini-column and measurement of the elements by inductively coupled plasma-Mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Arsenic(V) could be retained on the CCTS-DBA resin at pH 3 as an oxoanion of H2AsO4. Selenium(VI) is strongly adsorbed at pH 2 and pH 3 as an oxoanion of SeO42−, while selenium(IV) as HSeO3 is adsorbed on the resin at pH 3. The sorption capacities are 82, 64, and 88 mg g−1resin for As(V), Se(IV), and Se(VI), respectively. The effect of common anions and cations on the adsorption of As(V), Se(IV), and Se(VI) were studied; there was no interference from such anionic matrices as chloride, sulfate, phosphate, and nitrate up to 20 ppm, as well as from such artificial river water matrices as Na, K, Mg, and Ca after passing samples through the mini-column containing the resin. The CCTS-DBA resin was applied to the collection of arsenic and selenium species in bottled drinking water, tap water, and river water.  相似文献

This paper presents a method whereby trace elements in NH4Cl-NH3 medium are adsorbed on activated carbon in a micro-flow-injection (FI) semi-online sorbent extraction preconcentration system and then determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS). The analytical performance of the proposed method for determining Cd, Mn and Pb was studied. A microcolumn packed with activated carbon was used as a preconcentration column (PCC). The metals to be determined were preconcentrated onto the column for 60 s and then rinsed with 0.02% (v/v) HNO3 and eluted with 30 μl of 2 mol l−1 HNO3. Compared with the direct injection of 30 μl of aqueous sample solution, enrichment factor of 32, 26, and 21 and detection limits (3σ) of 0.4, 4.7, and 7.5 ng l−1 for Cd, Mn and Pb, respectively, were obtained with 60 s sample loading at 3.0 ml min−1 for sorbent extraction, 30 μl of eluate injection, and peak area measurement. The precisions (RSD, n=6) were 2.8% at the 0.05 μg l−1 level for Cd, 3.0% at the 0.3 μg l−1 level for Mn, and 3.1% at the 0.5 μg l−1 level for Pb. The experimental results indicate that the procedure can eliminate the fundamental interferences caused by alkali and alkaline earth metals and the application of it to the determination of Cd, Mn and Pb in some water samples is successful.  相似文献

A time-based multisyringe flow injection procedure with spectrofluorimetric detection is proposed in this paper for the determination of aluminium in drinking water. The flow methodology is based on the simultaneous or sequential injection of sample and chelating reagent (viz. 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulphonic acid) plugs using a multicommutation approach so that three successive injections may be performed with a sole displacement of the piston driver bar of the burette. Thus, an injection throughput as high as 154 h−1 is achieved by sampling a 182 μl sample zone. In order to enhance the luminescence, the reaction is carried out in micellar medium using hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride as surfactant. The influence of geometric and hydrodynamic variables as well as several parameters such as multicommutation timing, ligand and surfactant concentration and reagent pH was assessed.Under the selected working conditions, a linear dynamic range from 10 to 500 μg l−1 Al(III), a 3σ detection limit of 0.5 μg l−1 and a coefficient of variation of 0.6% at the 30 μg l−1 level were obtained. The analytical features were compared with those reported in previous flow injection and sequential injection methods. The multisyringe technique was successfully applied to the determination of aluminium in drinking water at low mineralisation levels, validating the results by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry.  相似文献

Non-chromatographic speciation approaches have been developed for determination of water-soluble and phosphate-exchangeable As(III) and As(V) in certified reference materials of coal fly ash and sediments by FI-HGAAS. A 2IV6-2 fractional factorial design was employed for screening optimisation of the flow injection manifold. A simple two-stage sequential extraction protocol involving deionized water and a phosphate buffer as extractants was employed. Determination of both oxidation states of As in the extracts could be accomplished following arsine generation under different reaction conditions, namely, (i) selective determination of As(III) in citric acid medium or using soft generation conditions (i.e. low HCl and NaBH4 concentrations); (ii) determination of total As in each extract using thioglycollic acid as reaction medium or after pre-reduction of As(V) to As(III) with a KI+ascorbic acid mixture. The As(V) content was estimated by difference between both measurements. Reaction conditions were previously optimised and analytical parameters in each reaction medium were established. Overall, the extractable As content was less than 5% in sediment and fly ash CRMs. The LOD of As was around 0.07 μg l−1 for As(III) determination, and 0.06 μg l−1 for total As determination after prereduction. Liquid chromatography coupled to atomic fluorescence spectrometry with post-column hydride generation was used for comparison.  相似文献

A novel and high throughput chemiluminescence (CL) method for determination of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in water sample was originally developed based on potassium permanganate-glutaraldehyde CL system. With this method, dissolved organic matter in water samples was digested by excess acid potassium permanganate, the reacted mixture solutions containing surplus KMnO4 were added in wells of a 96-well plate, followed by injection of glutaraldehyde in the wells, and CL was then produced along with the reaction of the added glutaraldehyde with the surplus KMnO4 and detected by a photomultiplier tube (PMT). The difference (ΔI) between the CL intensity for distilled water and that for sample water was proportional to the COD value of water sample. The calibration graph was linear in the range of 0.16-19.24 mg L−1 with a detection limit of 0.1 mg L−1. A complete analysis could be performed in 40 min including digestion and detection, giving a very high throughput of 3 × 96 samples in about 60 min. Compared with the conventional methods, this method is simple and sensitive and consumes very limited and cheap reagents. Owing to its rapid, automatic, high throughput and low cost characteristics, the presented CL method has been applied successfully to the determination of COD in real water samples (n = 32) with satisfactory results.  相似文献

3-Amino-1,2,4-triazole (amitrole) is a widely used pesticide, with many difficulties to be analyzed at the regulatory level in drinking water, because its high solubility in water. This paper describes a simple and fast method for the simultaneous determination of amitrole and atrazin-2-hydroxy, principal degradation product of s-triazines, by capillary zone electrophoresis. Separation and determination of these herbicides in water samples was performed in 0.02 mol l−1 phosphate buffer at pH 3.2. The method allows determination of the amitrole and atrazin-2-hydroxy in water samples in concentration lower than 100 μg l−1. The detection limits using a previous preconcentration step of amitrole in Alberche River (Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain) and drinking water spiked samples was of 4 μg l−1.  相似文献

A selective matrix removal/separation/enrichment method, utilizing a microcolumn of a chelating resin with SH functional groups (Duolite GT-73), was proposed for the determination of Sb(III) in waters by segmented flow injection-hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (SFI-HGAAS). The resin was selective to Sb(III) at almost all pH and acidity values employed, whereas Sb(V) was not retained at all and could be determined after a pre-reduction step with l-cysteine. Spike recoveries were tested at various concentration levels in different water types and were found to vary between 85 and 118%. Accuracy of the proposed methodology was checked by analyzing a standard reference material and a good correlation was found between the determined (13.3 ± 1.1 μg l−1) and the certified value (13.79 ± 0.42 μg l−1). The method was applied to several bottled drinking water samples for antimony determination with and without preconcentration and none of the samples were found to contain antimony above the permissible level (5 μg l−1). The characteristic concentration (the concentration of the analyte corresponding to an absorbance of 0.0044) was 0.55 μg l−1 and the 3 s limit of detection (LOD) based on five times preconcentration was 0.06 μg l−1. The applicability of the microcolumn separation/preconcentration/matrix removal method for flow injection systems was also demonstrated.  相似文献

In the present work, a sensitive and selective fluorimetric method for formaldehyde determination in air samples is described. The method is based in the reaction between formaldehyde and Fluoral P producing 3,5-diacetyl-1,4-dihydrolutidine, which, when excited at 410 nm, emits fluorescence at 510 nm.The Fluoral P was prepared by the reaction of 0.3 ml of acetic acid, 0.2 ml of acetylacetone and 15.4 g of ammonium acetate. Then, the volume was completed to 100 ml with deionized water. The Fluoral P obtained, if stored under refrigeration in the dark, can be used, safely, for 60 days. The calibration curve obtained with concentrations of formaldehyde in the range of 12 to 192 ng ml−1 (n=9) was Intensity=1.11C+0.06 (R2=0.9920). In the quantification of formaldehyde, air samples were passed at 1 l min−1, during 120 min, through glass impingers containing 40 ml of Fluoral P, followed by direct fluorescence measuring, or through two SEP PAK silica cartridges, coated with Fluoral P. The cartridges were eluted with 10 ml of Fluoral P solution and quantified by spectrofluorimetry. Under these conditions, the detection limit (S/N=3) obtained was 2.0 ng ml−1.The new methodology was validated by comparison with a well-known HPLC method in which formaldehyde was collected into SEP PAK C18 cartridges coated with 2,4 dinitrophenylhydrazine. The application of the t95% test did not show significant differences between the HPLC and either fluorimetric methodologies. This method has been used in the determination of gas phase formaldehyde in both indoor and outdoor sites. For the indoor site, the measured concentrations were in the range of 9.0 to 67.7 μl l−1, while for the outdoor site they were in the range of 16.8 to 38.8 μl l−1. Further, due to the ease of handling in field studies, the SEP PAK cartridges coated with Fluoral P were used. The formaldehyde concentrations thus determined, in outdoor sites, were in the range of 2.09 to 25.1 μl l−1. The main advantage of this analytical procedure is its selectivity for formaldehyde, without interferences from bisulfite and other aldehydes, especially acetaldehyde, and low blank level, resulting in low detection limits. In addition, very little sample preparation is required.  相似文献

A flow injection system with anion exchange resin minicolumns was coupled with dynamic reaction cell (DRC™) ICP-MS for the determination and speciation of selenite and selenate at sub μg L−1 levels. The charged selenate and uncharged selenite were separated on the first resin column in which only selenate was retained. The unretained selenite was then deprotonated with alkaline solution, and the resulting anionic selenite species was collected on the second column serially connected downstream. By setting a sample loop, total selenium can be determined together with selenite and selenate. The selenium species was eluted by nitric acid and carried to DRC™ ICP-MS for their detection. Using ammonia as reaction gas, the detection of 78Se was improved. The enrichment factor was 20 for 10 mL of sample. The standard deviations (n = 5) of peak heights were 4.9%, 4.1%, and 7.0% for a 5.0 × 10−2 μg L−1 selenite and selenate, and total Se, respectively. The calibration graphs were linear from 2.0 × 10−2 to 1.0 μg L−1 selenite and selenate. And, the linearity for total selenium was good in the range of 10.0 × 10−2 to 1.0 μg L−1. The proposed method has been demonstrated for the application to natural and bottled drinking water samples.  相似文献

A robust flow injection (FI) on-line liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) preconcentration/separation system associated with a newly designed gravitational phase separator, coupled to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was developed. The performance of the system was illustrated for cadmium determination at the μg l−1 level. The non-charged cadmium complex with ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC) was extracted on-line into isobutyl methyl ketone (IBMK). The organic phase was effectively separated from a large volume of aqueous phase and is led into a 100 μl loop of an injection valve before its introduction into the nebulizer. The system was optimized and offered good performance characteristics with unlimited life time of phase separator, greater flow rate ratios and improved flexibility, as compared with other solvent extraction preconcentration systems. With a sampling frequency of 33 h−1, the enhancement factor was 155, the detection limit was 0.02 μg l−1, the relative standard deviation was 3.2% at 2.0 μg l−1 Cd concentration level and the calibration curve was linear over the concentration range 0.06-6.0 μg l−1. The accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated by analyzing a certified reference material of water and by recovery measurements on spiked samples. Finally, it was successfully applied to the analysis of tapwater, river and seawater samples.  相似文献

Haloacetic acids (HAAs) are by-products of the chlorination of drinking water containing natural organic matter and bromide. A simple and sensitive method has been developed for determination of ten HAAs in drinking water. The pressure-assisted electrokinetic injection (PAEKI), an on-line enrichment technique, was employed to introduce the sample into a capillary electrophoresis (CE)–electrospray ionization–tandem mass spectrometry system (ESI-MS/MS). HAAs were monitored in selected reaction monitoring mode. With 3 min of PAEKI time, the ten major HAAs (HAA10) in drinking water were enriched up to 20,000-fold into the capillary without compromising resolution. A simple solid phase clean-up method has been developed to eliminate the influence of ionic matrices from drinking water on PAEKI. Under conditions optimized for mass spectrometry, PAEKI and capillary electrophoresis, detection limits defined as three times ratio of signal to noise have been achieved in a range of 0.013–0.12 μg L−1 for ten HAAs in water sample. The overall recoveries for all ten HAAs in drinking water samples were between 76 and 125%. Six HAAs including monochloro- (MCAA), dichloro- (DCAA), trichloro- (TCAA), monobromo- (MBAA), bromochloro- (BCAA), and bromodichloroacetic acids (BDCAA) were found in tap water samples collected.  相似文献

Arsenic compounds including arsenous acid (As(III)), arsenic acid (As(V)), dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) and monomethylarsonic acid (MMA) were separated by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). A Hamilton PRX-100 anionic-exchange column and a pH 8.5 K2HPO4/KH2PO4 5.0 × 10−3 mol L−1 mobile phase were used to achieve arsenic speciation. The separation of arsenic species provided peaks of As(III) at 2.75 min, DMA at 3.33 min, MMA at 5.17 min and As(V) at 12.5 min. The detection limits, defined as three times the standard deviation of the lowest standard measurements, were found to be 0.2, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 ng mL−1 for As(III), DMA, MMA and As(V), respectively. The relative standard deviation values for a solution containing 5.0 μg L−1 of As(III), DMA, MMA and As(V) were 1.2, 2.1, 2.5 and 3.0%, respectively. This analytical procedure was applied to the speciation of arsenic compounds in drinking (soft drink, beer, juice) samples. The validation of the procedure was achieved through the analysis of arsenic compounds in water and sediment certified reference materials.  相似文献

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) has been investigated for the analysis of some neurotransmitters, dopamine (DA), 3-methoxytyramine (3-MT) and serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) at nanomolar concentrations in urine. Field-amplified sample injection (FASI) has been used to improve the sensitivity through the online pre-concentration samples. The cationic analytes were stacked at the capillary inlet between a zone of low conductivity - sample and pre-injection plug - and a zone of high conductivity - running buffer. Several FASI parameters have been optimized (ionic strength of the running buffer, concentration of the sample protonation agent, composition of the sample solvent and nature of the pre-injection plug). Best results were obtained using H3PO4–LiOH (pH 4, ionic strength of 80 mmol L−1) as running buffer, 100 μmol L−1 of H3PO4 in methanol–water 90/10 (v/v) as sample solvent and 100 μmol L−1 of H3PO4 in water for the pre-injection plug.In these conditions, the linearity was verified in the 50–300 nmol L−1 concentration range for DA, 3-MT and 5-HT with a determination coefficient (r2) higher than 0.99. The limits of quantification (10 nmol L−1 for DA and 3-MT, 5.9 nmol L−1 for 5-HT) were 500 times lower than those obtained with hydrodynamic injection. However, if this method is applied to the analysis of neurotransmitters in urine, the presence of salts in the matrix greatly reduces the sensitivity of the FASI/CE–UV method. Therefore, a solid phase extraction (SPE) on a dedicated imprinted polymer (MIP) was developed to extract specific neurotransmitters, catecholamines, metanephrines and indolamines, from urine. Matrix salts were thus discarded after sample extraction on AFFINIMIP™ Catecholamine & Metanephrine (100 mg) cartridge. Therefore, lower limits of quantification were determined in artificial urine (46 nmol L−1 for DA, 11 nmol L−1 for 3-MT and 6 nmol L−1 for 5-HT).The application of this protocol MIP-SPE/FASI–CE–UV analysis of neurotransmitters in human urine gave rise to electropherograms with a very good base line and signal to noise ratios above 15.  相似文献

A simple and sensitive flow injection analysis-atomic absorption spectrometric procedure is described for the determination of cobalt. The method is based upon on-line preconcentration of cobalt on a microcolumn of 2-nitroso-1-naphthol immobilized on surfactant coated alumina. The trapped cobalt is then eluted with ethanol (250 μl) and determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The analytical figures of merit for the determination of cobalt are as follows: detection limit (3 S), 0.02 ng ml−1; precision (RSD), 2.8% for 20 ng ml−1 and 1.7% for 70 ng ml−1 of cobalt; enrichment factor, 125 (using 25 ml of sample). The method has been applied to the determination of cobalt in water samples, vitamin B12 and B-complex ampoules and accuracy was assessed through recovery experiment and independent analysis by furnace AAS.  相似文献

A rapid and simple method for the extraction and preconcentration of N-methylcarbamates (NMCs) (carbofuran, carbaryl and promecarb) in water samples using dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) using chemometrics was developed. Influence variables such as volume of extracting (CHCl3) and dispersing solvents (ACN), pH and ionic strength, extraction time and centrifugation time and speed were screened in a 27–4 Plackett–Burman design was investigated. The significant variables were optimized by using a central composite design (CCD) combined with desirability function (DF). At optimum conditions values of variables set as 126 μL chloroform, 1.5 mL acetonitrile, 1 min extraction time, 10 min centrifugation at 4000 rpm min−1, natural pH, 4.7% (w/v) NaCl, the separation was reached in less than 14 min using a C18 column and an isocratic binary mobile phase (acetonitrile: water (50:50, v/v)) with flow rate of 1.0 mL min−1. At optimum conditions method has linear response over 0.001–10 μg mL−1 with detection limit between 0.0001 and 0.0005 μg mL−1 with relative standard deviations (RSDs) in the range 2.18–5.06% (n = 6).  相似文献

In the paper, a new kind of vitamin B12 (acquo-cobalamine) chemically modified electrode was fabricated and applied in capillary zone electrophoresis coupled with amperometric detection (CZE-AD) for simultaneous determination of six antioxidants in fruits and vegetables. The catalytic electrochemical properties of the chemically modified electrode could obviously enhance oxidation peak heights responses by about five times to glutathione, ascorbic acid, vanillic acid, chlorogenic acid, salicylic acid, and caffeic acid compared with common carbon disk electrode. Furthermore, the effects of working electrode potential, pH and concentration of running buffer, separation voltage and injection time on CZE-AD were investigated. Under the optimum conditions, the six analytes could be completely separated and detected in a borate-phosphate buffer (pH 8.4) within 15 min. Their linear ranges were from 2.5 × 10−7 to 1.0 × 10−4 mol L−1 and the detection limits were as low as 10−8 mol L−1 magnitude (S/N = 3). The proposed method has been successfully employed to monitor the six analytes in practical samples with recoveries in the range 96.0-106.0% and RSDs less than 5.0%. Above results demonstrate that capillary zone electrophoresis coupled with electrochemical detection using vitamin B12 modified electrode as detector is of convenient preparation, high sensitivity, good repeatability, and could be used in the rapid determination of practical samples.  相似文献

A novel Multisyringe flow injection analysis (MSFIA) system combined with a 200 cm long pathlength liquid core waveguide (LCW) has been developed enabling for the first time the sensitive spectrophotometric determination at μg L−1 levels of the herbicide paraquat (Pq2+) in drinking waters. The proposed system is a simple, economic and fast alternative for obtaining the first evidence of paraquat pollution prior the use of more complex instrumental techniques. The proposed methodology is based on the production of a blue free radical by reaction of Pq2+ with ascorbic acid (partially oxidized with potassium iodate) in basic medium. Limits of detection and quantification as low as 0.7 and 2.3 μg L−1, were obtained respectively. The working range is linear up to a concentration of 250 μg L−1 of Pq2+. The injection throughput of the proposed method is 34 h−1. The results obtained with the LCW are compared with those using a conventional 1 cm flow cell. The automation of standard addition procedures has been studied and implemented for samples causing matrix effects. Finally the proposed system has been applied to the determination of paraquat in drinking water samples.  相似文献

The determination of bromate BrO3 ? in 50 different bottled drinking water samples collected from Saudi Arabian markets has been investigated using liquid chromatography inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC/ICP-MS). For analysis, samples were injected directly without any further pretreatment or dilution, using only a 50 μL injection volume. The method showed: detection limit of 0.5 μg/L, limit of quantification of 1.0 μg/L, 1.0 ? 200.0 μg/L linearity range (r2 = 0.9998), relative standard deviation (%RSD) for reproducibility (inter-day precision) values of 14% and 4% for low and high concentration levels (10,100 μg/L), respectively. The results obtained for bromate showed that 30% of the samples are acceptable as US EPA standards (10 μg/L), 40% of the samples are acceptable as Gulf (Saudi Arabia) standards (25 μg/L), and almost 60% of the samples exceed the allowable limits for bromate in bottled drinking water.  相似文献

A single automatic method for continuous flow determination of β-naphthol based on the enhancement of its native fluorescence once the analyte was transitorily retained on-line on a solid support (QAE A-25 resin) is reported. So, a flow-through optosensor was developed using a flow-injection analysis system with solid phase fluorimetric transduction. KCl (0.15 mol l−1) at pH 12.0 was used as carrier solution. To obtain the optimum fluorescence signal the wavelengths chosen were 245 nm (excitation) and 420 nm (emission). The response of the sensor was directly proportional to the sample volume injected in the studied range 40-1500 μl. Approximately one higher order of magnitude is achieved in sensitivity when 1500 μl are used with respect to the use of 40 μl of sample. The sensor was calibrated for three different injection volumes: 40, 600 and 1500 μl, responding linearly in the measuring range of 2-60, 0.5-15 and 0.2-5 μg l−1 with detection limits of 0.5, 0.09 and 0.05 μg l−1, respectively. The relative standard deviation for ten independent determination is 0.6% (40 μl), 0.9% (600 μl) and 2.3% (1500 μl). A recovery study was performed onto three different spiked water samples at concentration levels from 1 to 2.5 μg l−1 and the recovery percentage from the experimental data ranged between 101±2 and 105±5.  相似文献
