The aim of the present paper is to study precompactness and compactness within the framework of asymmetric locally convex spaces, defined and studied by the author in [S. Cobza?, Asymmetric locally convex spaces, Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2005 (16) (2005) 2585-2608]. The obtained results extend some results on compactness in asymmetric normed spaces proved by [L.M. García-Raffi, Compactness and finite dimension in asymmetric normed linear spaces, Topology Appl. 153 (2005) 844-853], and [C. Alegre, I. Ferrando, L.M. García-Raffi, E.A. Sánchez-Pérez, Compactness in asymmetric normed spaces, Topology Appl. 155 (6) (2008) 527-539].  相似文献

In 2003, N. De Grande-De Kimpe, J. Kąkol and C. Perez-Garcia using t-frames and some machinery concerning tensor products proved that compactoid sets in non-archimedean (LM)-spaces (i.e. the inductive limits of a sequence of non-archimedean metrizable locally convex spaces) are metrizable. In this paper we show a similar result for a large class of non-archimedean locally convex space with a £-base, i.e. a decreasing base (Uα)αNN of neighbourhoods of zero. This extends the first mentioned result since every non-archimedean (LM)-space has a £-base. We also prove that compactoid sets in non-archimedean (DF)-spaces are metrizable.  相似文献

We study Carathéodory-Herglotz functions whose values are continuous operators from a locally convex topological vector space which admits the factorization property into its conjugate dual space. We show how this case can be reduced to the case of functions whose values are bounded operators from a Hilbert space into itself.  相似文献

The central idea of this paper is to make full use of the recently developed theory of random conjugate spaces to establish a basic strict separation theorem that is universally suitable in an arbitrary random locally convex module. A series of interesting corollaries of the basic theorem are also included.  相似文献

Raikov’s conjecture states that semi-abelian categories are quasi-abelian. A first counterexample is contained in a paper of Bonet and Dierolf who considered the category of bornological locally convex spaces. We prove that every semi-abelian category I admits a left essential embedding into a quasi-abelian category Kl(I) such that I can be recovered from Kl(I) by localization. Conversely, it is shown that left essential full subcategories I of a quasi-abelian category are semi-abelian, and a criterion for I to be quasi-abelian is given. Applied to categories of locally convex spaces, the criterion shows that barreled or bornological spaces are natural counterexamples to Raikov’s conjecture. Using a dual argument, the criterion leads to a simplification of Bonet and Dierolf’s example.  相似文献

Let be a densely defined operator on a Banach space X. Characterizations of when generates a C0‐semigroup on X are known. The famous result of Lumer and Phillips states that it is so if and only if is dissipative and is dense in X for some . There exists also a rich amount of Banach space results concerning perturbations of dissipative operators. In a recent paper Tyran–Kamińska provides perturbation criteria of dissipative operators in terms of ergodic properties. These results, and others, are shown to remain valid in the setting of general non–normable locally convex spaces. Applications of the results to concrete examples of operators on function spaces are also presented.  相似文献

Our main result states that the hyperspace of convex compact subsets of a compact convex subset X in a locally convex space is an absolute retract if and only if X is an absolute retract of weight ?ω1. It is also proved that the hyperspace of convex compact subsets of the Tychonov cube Iω1 is homeomorphic to Iω1. An analogous result is also proved for the cone over Iω1. Our proofs are based on analysis of maps of hyperspaces of compact convex subsets, in particular, selection theorems for such maps are proved.  相似文献

Summary The paper reveals that ultrabarrelled spaces (respectively barrelled spaces) can be characterized by means of the density of the so-called weak singularities of families consisting of continuous convex mappings that are defined on an open absolutely convex set and take values in a locally full ordered topological linear space (respectively locally full ordered locally convex space). The idea to establish such characterizations arose from the observation that, in virtue of well-known results, the density of the singularities of families of continuous linear mappings allows to characterize both the ultrabarrelled spaces and the barrelled spaces.  相似文献

We introduce the classes of locally convex spaces with the local Dunford-Pettis property and locally dual Schur spaces. We examine their properties and their relationship to other classes of locally convex spaces. In the class of locally convex spaces with the local Dunford-Pettis property all polynomials are weakly sequentially continuous whereas in the class of locally dual Schur spaces all polynomials are weakly continuous on bounded sets. We prove that if a finite connected poset admits an order-preserving Taylor operation, then all of its homotopy groups are trivial. We use this to give new characterisations of locally finite varieties omitting type 1 in terms of the posets (or equivalently, finite topological spaces) in the variety. Similar variants of other omitting-type theorems are presented. We give several examples of posets that admit various types of Taylor operations; in particular, we exhibit a topological space which is not an H-space but is compatible with a set of non-trivial identities, answering a question of W. Let be a non-empty set and X a metrizable locally convex space. We show that the metrizable locally convex space c0 (, X) is p-barrelled (totally barrelled) if and only if X is p-barrelled (totally barrelled). Some applications for closed graph theorems are included.  相似文献

In this paper we use the Nash-Williams theory of fronts and barriers to study weakly null sequences in Banach spaces. Specifically, we show how barriers relate to the classical fact that C(K) with K a countable compactum is c0-saturated. Another result relates the notion of a barrier to the Maurey-Rosenthal example of a weakly null sequence with no unconditional subsequences. In particular, we construct examples of weakly-null sequences which are α-unconditional but not β-unconditional.  相似文献
