Electromagnetic scattering by a smooth convex impedance cone   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The problem of the diffraction of an electromagnetic planewave by a convex cone of arbitrary smooth cross-section withimpedance (Leontovich) boundary conditions is studied. The vectorproblem is reduced to that for the Debye potentials. By meansof Kontorovich–Lebedev integrals, two spectral functionsare introduced and the corresponding boundary value problemis formulated. The spectral functions for the potentials arefound to satisfy the Helmholtz equations on the unit sphereand to be coupled through non-traditional boundary conditionsof the impedance type with shifts on the spectral variable.The use of the Green theorem permits us to establish an integralformulation of the boundary value problem for the spectral functions.The formal asymptotic solution of the problem is then givenfor the case of a narrow cone. For this, two different methodsare given: a method of perturbation applied to the spectralintegral equations and an adaptation of the method of matchingthe asymptotic series in spectral domain. Both methods leadto the same closed-form result for the leading term of the scatteringdiagram asymptotics.  相似文献

We show that formulas differing from classical analogues of rational trace formulas for algebraic-geometric potentials occur in the theory of finite-gap integration of spectral equations. The new formulas contain transcendental modular functions and hypergeometric series. They result in transcendental relations for theta functions.  相似文献

It is shown how Newton–Sabatier methods (arising in inverse scattering at fixed energy) can be related to spectral measures and typically when they correspond to regular potentials. A number of spectral formulae for various transmutation kernels are also given in terms of general Kontorovi?–Lebedev theory and connections to generating functions, generalized orthogonal polynomials, etc. are indicated.  相似文献

We study bounds on averages of spectral functions corresponding to Sturm-Liouville operators on the half line for different boundary conditions. As a consequence constraints are obtained which imply existence of singular spectrum embedded in a.c. spectrum for sets of boundary conditions with positive measure and potentials vanishing in an interval [0,N]. These constraints are related to estimates on the measure of sets where the spectral density is positive.  相似文献

We introduce a class of analytic positive definite multivariate kernels which includes infinite dot product kernels as sometimes used in machine learning, certain new nonlinearly factorizable kernels, and a kernel which is closely related to the Gaussian. Each such kernel reproduces in a certain “native” Hilbert space of multivariate analytic functions. If functions from this space are interpolated in scattered locations by translates of the kernel, we prove spectral convergence rates of the interpolants and all derivatives. By truncation of the power series of the kernel-based interpolants, we constructively generalize the classical Bernstein theorem concerning polynomial approximation of analytic functions to the multivariate case. An application to machine learning algorithms is presented.   相似文献

We extend the inverse scattering transform (IST) for the Benjamin–Ono (BO) equation, given by A. S. Fokas and M. J. Ablowitz ( Stud. Appl. Math. 68:1, 1983), in two important ways. First, we restrict the IST to purely real potentials, in which case the scattering data and the inverse scattering equations simplify. Second, we extend the analysis of the asymptotics of the Jost functions and the scattering data to include the nongeneric classes of potentials, which include, but may not be limited to, all N -soliton solutions. In the process, we also study the adjoint equation of the eigenvalue problem for the BO equation, from which, for real potentials, we find a very simple relation between the two reflection coefficients (the functions β(λ) and f (λ)) introduced by Fokas and Ablowitz. Furthermore, we show that the reflection coefficient also defines a phase shift, which can be interpreted as the phase shift between the left Jost function and the right Jost function. This phase shift leads to an analogy of Levinson's theorem, as well as a condition on the number of possible bound states that can be contained in the initial data. For both generic and nongeneric potentials, we detail the asymptotics of the Jost functions and the scattering data. In particular, we are able to give improved asymptotics for nongeneric potentials in the limit of a vanishing spectral parameter. We also study the structure of the scattering data and the Jost functions for pure soliton solutions, which are examples of nongeneric potentials. We obtain remarkably simple solutions for these Jost functions, and they demonstrate the different asymptotics that nongeneric potentials possess. Last, we show how to obtain the infinity of conserved quantities from one of the Jost functions of the BO equation and how to obtain these conserved quantities in terms of the various moments of the scattering data.  相似文献

For a certain class of orthogonal coordinates we simultaneously obtain representations of the general solutions of Lamé and Maxwell systems of equations in terms of generalized scalar potentials which are analogues of generalized potentials of the theory of gas dynamics fields defined by us earlier. This paper solves explicitly the direct and inverse spectral problems for Sturm-Liouville systems with rational Weyl functions. As in the previous papers of the authors on canonical and pseudocanonical systems, the method employed in the present paper is based on state space techniques and uses the idea of realization from mathematical system theory. For a subclass of rational potentials a property of modified bispectrality is proven. A wide class of solutions of the matrix Korteweg-de Vries equation is derived.To the memory of M.G. Kreîn, one of the founding fathers of modern spectral theory of differential operators, with admiration and gratitude.  相似文献

In this paper the far-field equations in linear elasticity for scattering from disjoint rigid bodies and cavities are considered. The direct scattering problem is formulated in differential and integral form. The boundary integral equations are constructed using a combination of single- and double-layer potentials. Using a Fredholm type theory it is proved that these boundary integral equations are uniquely solvable. Assuming that the incident field is produced by a superposition of plane incident waves in all directions of propagation and polarization it is established that the scattered field is also expressed as the superposition of the corresponding scattered fields. A pair of integral equations of the first kind which hold independently of the boundary conditions are constructed for the far-field region. The properties of the Herglotz functions are used to derive solvability conditions for the far-field equations. It is also proved that the far-field operators, in terms of which we can express the far-field equations, are injective and have dense range. An analytical example for spheres illuminates the theoretical results.  相似文献

We investigate the spectral properties of discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators whose potentials are generated by continuous sampling along the orbits of a minimal translation of a Cantor group. We show that for given Cantor group and minimal translation, there is a dense set of continuous sampling functions such that the spectrum of the associated operators has zero Hausdorff dimension and all spectral measures are purely singular continuous. The associated Lyapunov exponent is a continuous strictly positive function of the energy. It is possible to include a coupling constant in the model and these results then hold for every non-zero value of the coupling constant.  相似文献

An analysis of the non-homogeneous term involved in the free surface condition for second order wave diffraction on a pair of cylinders is presented. In the computations of the nonlinear loads on offshore structures the most challenging task is the computation of the free surface integral. The main contribution to this integrand is due to the nonhomogeneous term present in the free surface condition for second order scattered potential. In this paper, the free surface condition for the second order scattered potential is derived. Under the assumption of large spacing between the two cylinders, waves scattered by one cylinder may be replaced in the vicinity of the other cylinder by equivalent plane waves together with non-planner correction terms. Then solving a complex matrix equation, the first order scattered potential is derived and since the free surface term for second order scattered potential can be expressed in terms of the first order potentials, the free surface term can be obtained using the knowledge of first order potentials only.  相似文献

We introduce extensions of the convex potentials for finite frames (e.g. the frame potential defined by Benedetto and Fickus) in the framework of Bessel sequences of integer translates of finite sequences in \(L^2(\mathbb {R}^k)\). We show that under a natural normalization hypothesis, these convex potentials detect tight frames as their minimizers. We obtain a detailed spectral analysis of the frame operators of shift generated oblique duals of a fixed frame of translates. We use this result to obtain the spectral and geometrical structure of optimal shift generated oblique duals with norm restrictions, that simultaneously minimize every convex potential; we approach this problem by showing that the water-filling construction in probability spaces is optimal with respect to submajorization (within an appropriate set of functions) and by considering a non-commutative version of this construction for measurable fields of positive operators.  相似文献

In a bounded Lipschitz domain, we consider a strongly elliptic second-order equation with spectral parameter without assuming that the principal part is Hermitian. For the Dirichlet and Neumann problems in a weak setting, we prove the optimal resolvent estimates in the spaces of Bessel potentials and the Besov spaces. We do not use surface potentials. In these spaces, we derive a representation of the resolvent as a ratio of entire analytic functions with sharp estimates of their growth and prove theorems on the completeness of the root functions and on the summability of Fourier series with respect to them by the Abel-Lidskii method. Preliminarily, such questions for abstract operators in Banach spaces are discussed. For the Steklov problem with spectral parameter in the boundary condition, we obtain similar results. We indicate applications of the resolvent estimates to parabolic problems in a Lipschitz cylinder. The collection of the eigenvalues (i.e., poles of M(λ)) and the residues of M(λ) is called the spectral data of the operator. The partial inverse spectral problem for Sturm–Liouville operators on a star-shaped graph was studied. The authors showed that if the potentials but one were known a priori, then the unknown potential on the whole interval can be uniquely determined by part of information of the potential and part of eigenvalues. We prove some Hardy type inequalities related to the Dirac operator by elementary methods, for a large class of potentials, which even includes measure valued potentials.
