This paper focuses on chaos induced by snap-back repellers in non-autonomous discrete systems. A new concept of snap-back repeller for non-autonomous discrete systems is introduced and several new criteria of chaos induced by snap-back repellers in non-autonomous discrete systems are established. In addition, it is proved that a regular and nondegenerate snap-back repeller in non-autonomous discrete systems implies chaos in the (strong) sense of Li–Yorke. This paper is concerned with chaos of time-varying (i.e. non-autonomous) discrete systems in metric spaces. Some basic concepts are introduced for general time-varying systems, including periodic point, coupled-expansion for transitive matrix, uniformly topological equiconjugacy, and three definitions of chaos, i.e. chaos in the sense of Devaney and Wiggins, respectively, and in a strong sense of Li–Yorke. An interesting observation is that a finite-dimensional linear time-varying system can be chaotic in the original sense of Li–Yorke, but cannot have chaos in the strong sense of Li–Yorke, nor in the sense of Devaney in a set containing infinitely many points, and nor in the sense of Wiggins in a set starting from which all the orbits are bounded. A criterion of chaos in the original sense of Li–Yorke is established for finite-dimensional linear time-varying systems. Some basic properties of topological conjugacy are discussed. In particular, it is shown that topological conjugacy alone cannot guarantee two topologically conjugate time-varying systems to have the same topological properties in general. In addition, a criterion of chaos induced by strict coupled-expansion for a certain irreducible transitive matrix is established, under which the corresponding nonlinear system is proved chaotic in the strong sense of Li–Yorke. Two illustrative examples are finally provided with computer simulations for illustration.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with estimations of topological entropy for non-autonomous discrete systems. An estimation of lower bound of topological entropy for coupled-expanding systems associated with transition matrices in compact Hausdorff spaces is given. Estimations of upper and lower bounds of topological entropy for systems in compact metric spaces are obtained by their topological equi-semiconjugacy to subshifts of finite type under certain conditions. This paper studies relationships between coupled-expanding maps and one-sided symbolic dynamical systems. The concept of coupled-expanding map is extended to a more general one: coupled-expansion for a transitive matrix. It is found that the subshift for a transitive matrix is strictly coupled-expanding for the matrix in certain disjoint compact subsets; the topological conjugacy of a continuous map in its compact invariant set of a metric space to a subshift for a transitive matrix has a close relationship with that the map is strictly coupled-expanding for the matrix in some disjoint compact subsets. A certain relationship between strictly coupled-expanding maps for a transitive matrix in disjoint bounded and closed subsets of a complete metric space and their topological conjugacy to the subshift for the matrix is also obtained. Dynamical behaviors of subshifts for irreducible matrices are then studied and several equivalent statements to chaos are obtained; especially, chaos in the sense of Li–Yorke is equivalent to chaos in the sense of Devaney for the subshift, and is also equivalent to that the domain of the subshift is infinite. Based on these results, several new criteria of chaos for maps are finally established via strict coupled-expansions for irreducible transitive matrices in compact subsets of metric spaces and in bounded and closed subsets of complete metric spaces, respectively, where their conditions are weaker than those existing in the literature.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with chaos induced by strictly turbulent maps in noncompact sets of complete metric spaces. Two criteria of chaos for such types of maps are established, and then a criterion of chaos, characterized by snap-back repellers in complete metric spaces, is obtained. All the maps presented in this paper are proved to be chaotic either in the sense of both Li–Yorke and Wiggins or in the sense of both Li–Yorke and Devaney. The results weaken the assumptions in some existing criteria of chaos. Several illustrative examples are provided with computer simulation.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with relationships among some chaotic properties of non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems. Some relationships among weak mixing, topologically weak mixing, generic chaos, dense chaos, and sensitivity are investigated. In addition, some equivalent conditions of sensitivity are given and the relationships between sensitivity and Li–Yorke sensitivity are obtained. These results generalize some existing results of autonomous discrete systems, some of which relax the corresponding conditions.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with chaos in discrete dynamical systems governed by continuously Frech@t differentiable maps in Banach spaces. A criterion of chaos induced by a regular nondegenerate homoclinic orbit is established. Chaos of discrete dynamical systems in the n-dimensional real space is also discussed, with two criteria derived for chaos induced by nondegenerate snap-back repellers, one of which is a modified version of Marotto's theorem. In particular, a necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for an expanding fixed point of a differentiate map in a general Banach space and in an n-dimensional real space, respectively. It completely solves a long-standing puzzle about the relationship between the expansion of a continuously differentiable map near a fixed point in an n-dimensional real space and the eigenvalues of the Jacobi matrix of the map at the fixed point.  相似文献

A weak characterisation of the Delaunay triangulation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We consider a new construction, the weak Delaunay triangulation of a finite point set in a metric space, which contains as a subcomplex the traditional (strong) Delaunay triangulation. The two simplicial complexes turn out to be equal for point sets in Euclidean space, as well as in the (hemi)sphere, hyperbolic space, and certain other geometries. There are weighted and approximate versions of the weak and strong complexes in all these geometries, and we prove equality theorems in those cases also. On the other hand, for discrete metric spaces the weak and strong complexes are decidedly different. We give a short empirical demonstration that weak Delaunay complexes can lead to dramatically clean results in the problem of estimating the homology groups of a manifold represented by a finite point sample.   相似文献

This paper is concerned with chaos induced by regular snap-back repellers. One new criterion of chaos induced by strictly coupled-expanding maps in compact sets of metric spaces is established. By employing this criterion, the nondegenerateness assumption in the Marotto theorem established in 1978 is weakened. In addition, it is proved that a regular snap-back repeller and a regular homoclinic orbit to a regular expanding fixed point in finite-dimensional spaces imply chaos in the sense of Li-Yorke. Given A and B two nonempty subsets in a metric space, a mapping T: AB → AB is relatively nonexpansive if d(Tx, Ty) ≤ d(x, y) for every x ∈ A, y ∈ B. A best proximity point for such a mapping is a point x ∈ AB such that d(x, Tx) = dist(A, B). In this work, we extend the results given in Eldred et al. (2005) [A.A. Eldred, W.A. Kirk, P. Veeramani, Proximal normal structure and relatively nonexpansive mappings, Studia Math. 171, 283–293] for relatively nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces to more general metric spaces. Namely, we give existence results of best proximity points for cyclic and noncyclic relatively nonexpansive mappings in the context of Busemann convex reflexive metric spaces. Moreover, particular results are proved in the setting of CAT(0) and uniformly convex geodesic spaces. Finally, we show that proximal normal structure is a sufficient but not necessary condition for the existence in A × B of a pair of best proximity points.  相似文献

Li and Yorke not only introduced the term “chaos” along with a mathematically rigorous definition of what they meant by it, but also gave a condition for chaos in scalar difference equations, their equally famous “period three implies chaos” result. Generalizations of the Li and Yorke definition of chaos to difference equations in ? n are reviewed here as well as higher dimensional conditions ensuring its existence, specifically the “snap-back repeller” condition of Marotto and its counterpart for saddle points. In addition, further generalizations to mappings in Banach spaces and complete metric spaces are considered. These will be illustrated with various simple examples including an application to chaotic dynamics on the metric space (?  n , D) of fuzzy sets on the base space ? n .  相似文献

The paper is devoted to a revision of the metric regularity property for mappings between metric or Banach spaces. Some new concepts are introduced: uniform metric regularity and metric multi-regularity for mappings into product spaces, when each component is perturbed independently. Regularity criteria are established based on a nonlocal version of Lyusternik-Graves theorem due to Milyutin. The criteria are applied to systems of generalized equations producing some “error bound” type estimates.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the well-posedness as well as long-term dynamics of a wide class of non-autonomous, non-local, fractional, stochastic FitzHugh-Nagumo systems driven by nonlinear noise defined on the entire space?RN. The well-posedness is proved for the systems with polynomial drift terms of arbitrary order as well as locally Lipschitz nonlinear diffusion terms by utilizing the pathwise and mean square uniform estimates. The mean random dynamical system generated by the solution operators is proved to possess a unique weak pullback mean random attractor in a Bochner space. The existence of invariant measures is also established for the autonomous systems with globally Lipschitz continuous diffusion terms. The idea of uniform tail-estimates of the solutions in the appropriate spaces is employed to derive the tightness of a family of probability distributions of the solutions in order to overcome the non-compactness of the standard Sobolev embeddings on ?N as well as the lack of smoothing effect on one component of the solutions. The results of this paper are new even when the fractional Laplacian is replaced by the standard Laplacian.

We investigate the relations ofalmost isometric embedding and ofalmost isometry between metric spaces. These relations have several appealing features. For example, all isomorphism types of countable dense subsets of ∝ form exactly one almostisometry class, and similarly with countable dense subsets of Uryson's universal separable metric spaceU. We investigate geometric, set-theoretic and model-theoretic aspects of almost isometry and of almost isometric embedding. The main results show that almost isometric embeddability behaves in the category ofseparable metric spaces differently than in the category of general metric spaces. While in the category of general metric spaces the behavior of universality resembles that in the category of linear orderings —namely, no universal structure can exist on a regular λ > ℵ1 below the continuum—in the category of separable metric spaces universality behaves more like that in the category of graphs, that is, a small number of metric separable metric spaces on an uncountable regular λ<2 0 may consistently almost isometrically embed all separable metric spaces on λ. For discrete autonomous dynamical systems, it was found that in the three conditions defining Devaney chaos, topological transitivity and dense periodic points together imply sensitive dependence on initial condition (Banks, Brooks, Cairns, Davis and Stacey, On Devaney's definition of chaos, The Amer. Math. Monthly 99 (1992), pp. 332–334). In this paper, we give the definition of finitely generated non-autonomous dynamical systems (NADS) and generalize the Banks et al. theorem to the finitely generated NADS.  相似文献
