We construct the sequence of orthogonal polynomials with respect to an inner product which is defined by q-integrals over a collection of intervals in the complex plane. We prove that they are connected with little q-Jacobi polynomials. For such polynomials we discuss a few representations, a recurrence relation, a difference equation, a Rodrigues-type formula and a generating function. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification Primary—33D45, 42C05  相似文献

A classical result on the expansion of an analytic function in a series of Jacobi polynomials is extended to a class of q-orthogonal polynomials containing the fundamental Askey–Wilson polynomials and their special cases. The function to be expanded has to be analytic inside an ellipse in the complex plane with foci at ±1. Some examples of explicit expansions are discussed.   相似文献

In this paper, we give a characterization of some classical q-orthogonal polynomials in terms of a difference property of the associated Stieltjes function, i.e. this function solves a first-order non-homogeneous q-difference equation. The solutions of the aforementioned q-difference equation (given in terms of hypergeometric series) for some canonical cases, namely, q-Charlier, q-Kravchuk, q-Meixner and q-Hahn, are worked out.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to define a new class polynomials. Special cases of these polynomials give many famous family of the Bernstein type polynomials and beta polynomials. We also construct generating functions for these polynomials. We investigate some fundamental properties of these functions and polynomials. Using functional equations and generating functions, we derive various identities related to theses polynomials. We also construct interpolation function that interpolates these polynomials at negative integers. Finally, we give a matrix representations of these polynomials. In this paper, we define two homogenous q-Laguerre polynomials, by introducing a modified q-differential operator, we prove that an analytic function can be expanded in terms of the q-Laguerre polynomials if and only if the function satisfies certain q-partial differential equations. Using this main result, we derive the generating functions, bilinear generating functions and mixed generating functions for the q-Laguerre polynomials and generalized q-Hahn polynomials. Cigler’s polynomials and its generating functions discussed in [J. Cao, D.-W. Niu, A note on q -difference equations for Cigler’s polynomials, J. Difference Equ. Appl. 22 (2016), 1880–1892.] are generalized. At last, we obtain an q-integral identity involving q-Laguerre polynomials. These applications indicate that the q-partial differential equation is an effective tool in studying q-Laguerre polynomials.  相似文献

We are dealing with the concept of d-dimensional orthogonal (abbreviated d-orthogonal) polynomials, that is to say polynomials verifying one standard recurrence relation of order d + 1. Among the d-orthogonal polynomials one singles out the natural generalizations of certain classical orthogonal polynomials. In particular, we are concerned, in the present paper, with the solution of the following problem (P): Find all polynomial sequences which are at the same time Appell polynomials and d-orthogonal. The resulting polynomials are a natural extension of the Hermite polynomials.

A sequence of these polynomials is obtained. All the elements of its (d + 1)-order recurrence are explicitly determined. A generating function, a (d + 1)-order differential equation satisfied by each polynomial and a characterization of this sequence through a vectorial functional equation are also given. Among such polynomials one singles out the d-symmetrical ones (Definition 1.7) which are the d-orthogonal polynomials analogous to the Hermite classical ones. When d = 1 (ordinary orthogonality), we meet again the classical orthogonal polynomials of Hermite.  相似文献

We show that any scalar differential operator with a family of polynomials as its common eigenfunctions leads canonically to a matrix differential operator with the same property. The construction of the corresponding family of matrix valued polynomials has been studied in [A. Durán, A generalization of Favard's theorem for polynomials satisfying a recurrence relation, J. Approx. Theory 74 (1993) 83-109; A. Durán, On orthogonal polynomials with respect to a positive definite matrix of measures, Canad. J. Math. 47 (1995) 88-112; A. Durán, W. van Assche, Orthogonal matrix polynomials and higher order recurrence relations, Linear Algebra Appl. 219 (1995) 261-280] but the existence of a differential operator having them as common eigenfunctions had not been considered. This correspondence goes only one way and most matrix valued situations do not arise in this fashion. We illustrate this general construction with a few examples. In the case of some families of scalar valued polynomials introduced in [F.A. Grünbaum, L. Haine, Bispectral Darboux transformations: An extension of the Krall polynomials, Int. Math. Res. Not. 8 (1997) 359-392] we take a first look at the algebra of all matrix differential operators that share these common eigenfunctions and uncover a number of phenomena that are new to the matrix valued case.  相似文献

We study linear differential equations with exponential polynomial coefficients, where exactly one coefficient is of order greater than all the others. The main result shows that a nontrivial exponential polynomial solution of such an equation has a certain dual relationship with the maximum order coefficient. Several examples illustrate our results and exhibit possibilities that can occur.  相似文献

It is well known that spectral methods (tau, Galerkin, collocation) have a condition number of ( is the number of retained modes of polynomial approximations). This paper presents some efficient spectral algorithms, which have a condition number of , based on the Jacobi–Galerkin methods of second-order elliptic equations in one and two space variables. The key to the efficiency of these algorithms is to construct appropriate base functions, which lead to systems with specially structured matrices that can be efficiently inverted. The complexities of the algorithms are a small multiple of operations for a -dimensional domain with unknowns, while the convergence rates of the algorithms are exponentials with smooth solutions.  相似文献

There is a set of orthogonal polynomials {gn(x)} which plays a relevant role in the treatment of the case of anisotropic scattering in neutron-transport and radiative-transfer theories. They appear also in the spherical harmonics treatment of the isotropic scattering. These polynomials are orthogonal with respect to a weight function which is continuous in the interval [−1, + 1] and has a finite number of symmetric Dirac masses. Although some other structural properties of these polynomials (e.g., the three-term recurrence relation) as well as some properties of their zeros have been published, much more need to be known. In particular, neither the second-order differential equation nor the density of zeros (i.e., the number of zeros per unit of interval) of the polynomial gn(x) have been found. Here we obtain the second-order differential equation in the case that these polynomials are hypergeometric, so leaving open the general case. Furthermore, the exact expressions of the moments around the origin of the density of zeros of gn(x) are given in the general case. The asymptotic density of zeros is also pointed out. Finally, these polynomials are shown to belong to the Nevai's class.  相似文献

In this paper, a finite Chebyshev expansion is developed to solve Volterra integral equations with logarithmic singularities in their kernels. The error analysis is derived. Numerical results are given showing a marked improvement in comparison with the piecewise polynomial collocation method given in literature.  相似文献

We study polynomials orthogonal on a uniform grid. We show that each weight function gives two potentials and each potential leads to a structure relation (lowering operator). These results are applied to derive second order difference equations satisfied by the orthogonal polynomials and nonlinear difference equations satisfied by the recursion coefficients in the three-term recurrence relations.  相似文献

In recent years, random functional or stochastic equations have been reported in a large class of problems. In many cases, an exact analytical solution of such equations is not available and, therefore, is of great importance to obtain their numerical approximation. This study presents a numerical technique based on Bernstein operational matrices for a family of stochastic fractional integro-differential equations (SFIDE) by means of the trapezoidal rule. A relevant feature of this method is the conversion of the SFIDE into a linear system of algebraic equations that can be analyzed by numerical methods. An upper error bound, the convergence, and error analysis of the scheme are investigated. Three examples illustrate the accuracy and performance of the technique.  相似文献
