Hydrophobic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) with the chabazite ( CHA ) topology are synthesized by incorporating two distinct imidazolate links. Zn(2‐mIm)0.86(bbIm)1.14 (ZIF‐300), Zn(2‐mIm)0.94(cbIm)1.06 (ZIF‐301), and Zn(2‐mIm)0.67(mbIm)1.33 (ZIF‐302), where 2‐mIm=2‐methylimidazolate, bbIm=5(6)‐bromobenzimidazolate, cbIm=5(6)‐chlorobenzimidazolate, and mbIm=5(6)‐methylbenzimidazolate, were prepared by reacting zinc nitrate tetrahydrate and 2‐mIm with the respective bIm link in a mixture of N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF) and water. Their structures were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction and their permanent porosity shown. All of these structures are hydrophobic as confirmed by water adsorption isotherms. All three ZIFs are equally effective at the dynamic separation of CO2 from N2 under both dry and humid conditions without any loss of performance over three cycles and can be regenerated simply by using a N2 flow at ambient temperature.  相似文献

A defect‐free zeolitic imidazolate framework‐8 (ZIF‐8)/graphene oxide (GO) membrane with a thickness of 100 nm was prepared using two‐dimensional (2D) ZIF‐8/GO hybrid nanosheets as seeds. Hybrid nanosheets with a suitable amount of ZIF‐8 nanocrystals were essential for producing a uniform seeding layer that facilitates fast crystal intergrowth during membrane formation. Moreover, the seeding layer acts as a barrier between two different synthesis solutions, and self‐limits crystal growth and effectively eliminates defects during the contra‐diffusion process. The resulting ultrathin membranes show excellent molecular sieving gas separation properties, such as with a high CO2/N2 selectivity of 7.0. This 2D nano‐hybrid seeding strategy can be readily extended to the fabrication of other defect‐free and ultrathin MOF or zeolite molecular sieving membranes for a wide range of separation applications.  相似文献

The I2‐sorption and ‐retention properties of several existing zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF‐4, ‐8, ‐69) and a novel framework, ZIF‐mnIm ([Zn(mnIm)2]; mnIm=4‐methyl‐5‐nitroimidazolate), have been characterised using microanalysis, thermogravimetric analysis and X‐ray diffraction. The topologically identical ZIF‐8 ([Zn(mIm)2]; mIm=2‐methylimidazolate) and ZIF‐mnIm display similar sorption abilities, though strikingly different guest‐retention behaviour upon heating. We discover that this guest retention is greatly enhanced upon facile amorphisation by ball milling, particularly in the case of ZIF‐mnIm, for which I2 loss is retarded by as much as 200 °C. It is anticipated that this general approach should be applicable to the wide range of available metal–organic framework‐type materials for the permanent storage of harmful guest species.  相似文献

The peptide‐based porous 3D framework, ZnCar, has been synthesized from Zn2+ and the natural dipeptide carnosine (β‐alanyl‐L ‐histidine). Unlike previous extended peptide networks, the imidazole side chain of the histidine residue is deprotonated to afford Zn–imidazolate chains, with bonding similar to the zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) family of porous materials. ZnCar exhibits permanent microporosity with a surface area of 448 m2 g?1, and its pores are 1D channels with 5 Å openings and a characteristic chiral shape. This compound is chemically stable in organic solvents and water. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (XRD) showed that the ZnCar framework adapts to MeOH and H2O guests because of the torsional flexibility of the main His‐β‐Ala chain, while retaining the rigidity conferred by the Zn–imidazolate chains. The conformation adopted by carnosine is driven by the H bonds formed both to other dipeptides and to the guests, permitting the observed structural transformations.  相似文献

RHO zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF), Zn1.33(O.OH)0.33(nim)1.167(pur), crystals with a rhombic dodecahedral morphology were synthesized by a solvothermal process. The growth of the crystals was studied over time using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analyses, and a reversed crystal growth mechanism was revealed. Initially, precursor materials joined together to form disordered aggregates, which then underwent surface recrystallization forming a core–shell structure, in which a disordered core is encased in a layer of denser, less porous crystal. When the growth continued, the shell became less and less porous, until it was a layer of true single crystal. The crystallization then extended from the surface to the core over a six‐week period until, eventually, true single crystals were formed.  相似文献

Nanoporous carbon–cobalt‐oxide hybrid materials are prepared by a simple, two‐step, thermal conversion of a cobalt‐based metal–organic framework (zeolitic imidazolate framework‐9, ZIF‐9). ZIF‐9 is carbonized in an inert atmosphere to form nanoporous carbon–metallic‐cobalt materials, followed by the subsequent thermal oxidation in air, yielding nanoporous carbon–cobalt‐oxide hybrids. The resulting hybrid materials are evaluated as electrocatalysts for the oxygen‐reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen‐evolution reaction (OER) in a KOH electrolyte solution. The hybrid materials exhibit similar catalytic activity in the ORR to the benchmark, commercial, Pt/carbon black catalyst, and show better catalytic activity for the OER than the Pt‐based catalyst.  相似文献

Chiral metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained rising attention as ordered nanoporous materials for enantiomer separations, chiral catalysis, and sensing. Among those, chiral MOFs are generally obtained through complex synthetic routes by using a limited choice of reactive chiral organic precursors as the primary linkers or auxiliary ligands. Here, we report a template-controlled synthesis of chiral MOFs from achiral precursors grown on chiral nematic cellulose-derived nanostructured bio-templates. We demonstrate that chiral MOFs, specifically, zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF), unc -[Zn(2-MeIm)2, 2-MeIm=2-methylimidazole], can be grown from regular precursors within nanoporous organized chiral nematic nanocelluloses via directed assembly on twisted bundles of cellulose nanocrystals. The template-grown chiral ZIF possesses tetragonal crystal structure with chiral space group of P41, which is different from traditional cubic crystal structure of I-43 m for freely grown conventional ZIF-8. The uniaxially compressed dimensions of the unit cell of templated ZIF and crystalline dimensions are signatures of this structure. We observe that the templated chiral ZIF can facilitate the enantiotropic sensing. It shows enantioselective recognition and chiral sensing abilities with a low limit of detection of 39 μM and the corresponding limit of chiral detection of 300 μM for representative chiral amino acid, D- and L- alanine.  相似文献

The zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF‐4 has recently been shown to exhibit large structural flexibility as a response to hydrostatic pressures, going from an open pore phase ( ZIF ‐ 4 ( Zn )‐ op ) to a closed pore phase ( ZIF ‐ 4 ( Zn )‐ cp ). The use of diamond anvil cell (DAC) setups has so far restricted thorough experimental insight into the evolution of lattice parameters at pressures below p < 0.1 GPa. Here we revisit the high‐pressure properties of ZIF‐4(Zn) by applying a new high‐pressure powder X‐ray diffraction setup that allows for tracking the evolution of lattice parameters in pressure increments as small as Δp = 0.005 GPa in the pressure range p = ambient – 0.4 GPa; a pressure resolution that cannot be achieved by using traditional DACs. We find ZIF‐4(Zn) has a bulk modulus of K( ZIF ‐ 4 ( Zn )‐ op ) = 2.01 ± 0.05 GPa and K( ZIF ‐ 4 ( Zn )‐ cp ) = 4.39 ± 0.20 GPa, clarifying and confirming some ambiguous results that have been reported previously.  相似文献

Dense and homogeneous metal–organic framework (MOF) coatings on functional bead surfaces are easily prepared by using intermediate sacrificial metal oxide coatings containing the metal precursor of the MOF. Polystyrene (PS) beads are coated with a ZnO layer to give ZnO@PS core–shell beads. The ZnO@PS beads are reactive in the presence of 2‐methylimidazole to transform part of the ZnO coating into a porous zeolitic imidazolate framework‐8 (ZIF‐8) external shell positioned above the internal ZnO precursor shell. The obtained ZIF‐8@ZnO@PS beads can be easily packed in column format for flow‐through applications, such as the solid‐phase extraction of trace priority‐listed environmental pollutants. The prepared material shows an excellent permeance to flow when packed as a column to give high enrichment factors, facile regeneration, and excellent reusability for the extraction of the pollutant bisphenol A. It also shows an outstanding performance for the simultaneous enrichment of mixtures of endocrine disrupting chemicals (bisphenol A, 4‐tert‐octylphenol and 4‐n‐nonylphenol), facilitating their analysis when present at very low levels (<1 μg L?1) in drinking waters. For the extraction of the pollutant bisphenol A, the prepared ZIF‐8@ZnO@PS beads also show a superior extraction and preconcentration capacity to that of the PS beads used as precursors and the composite materials obtained by the direct growth of ZIF‐8 on the surface of the PS beads in the absence of metal oxide intermediate coatings.  相似文献

The unique features of high porosity, shape selectivity, and multiple active sites make metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) promising as novel stationary phases for high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). However, the wide particle size distribution and irregular shape of conventional MOFs lead to lower column efficiency of such MOF‐packed columns. Herein, the fabrication of monodisperse MOF@SiO2 core–shell microspheres as the stationary phase for HPLC to overcome the above‐mentioned problems is reported. Zeolitic imidazolate framework 8 (ZIF‐8) was used as an example of MOFs due to its permanent porosity, uniform pore size, and exceptional chemical stability. Unique carboxyl‐modified silica spheres were used as the support to grow the ZIF‐8 shell. The fabricated monodisperse ZIF‐8@SiO2 packed columns (5 cm long × 4.6 mm i.d.) show high column efficiency (23 000 plates m?1 for bisphenol A) for the HPLC separation of endocrine‐disrupting chemicals (bisphenol A, β‐estradiol, and p‐(tert‐octyl)phenol) and pesticides (thiamethoxam, hexaflumuron, chlorantraniliprole, and pymetrozine) within 7 min with good relative standard deviations for 11 replicate separations of the analytes (0.01–0.39, 0.65–1.7, 0.70–1.3, and 0.17–0.91 % for retention time, peak area, peak height, and half peak width, respectively). The ZIF‐8@SiO2 microspheres combine the advantages of the good column packing properties of the uniform monodisperse silica microspheres and the separation ability of the ZIF‐8 crystals.  相似文献

A series of dual‐metal zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) crystals with SOD and RHO topologies was synthesised by metal substitution from ZIF‐108 (Zn(2‐nitroimidazolate)2, SOD topology) as the parent material. This was based on the concept that metal substitution of ZIF‐108 requires a much lower activation energy than homogenous nucleation owing to the metastability of ZIF‐108. In‐depth investigations of the formation processes of the daughter ZIFs indicated that the transformation of ZIF‐108 is a dissolution/heterogeneous nucleation process. Typical isostructural Co2+ substitution mainly occurs at the outer surface of ZIF‐108 and results in a core–shell structure. On the contrary, the Cu2+‐substituted ZIF has a RHO topology with a homogeneous distribution of Cu2+ ions in the structure. Substitution with Ni2+ resulted in a remarkable enhancement in adsorption selectivity toward CO2 over N2 by a factor of up to 227. With Co2+‐substituted nanoparticles as inorganic filler, a mixed matrix membrane based on polysulfone displayed greatly improved performance in the separation of H2/CH4, CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4.  相似文献

Using a simple method, the aldehyde groups of zeolitic imidazolate framework‐90 (ZIF‐90) nanocrystals were converted into carboxyl, amino, and thiol groups, without affecting the integrity of the framework. Notably, for the first time, correlations between functionality and cytotoxicity are also demonstrated via in vitro cytotoxicity assays. The positive charged aminated‐ZIF‐90 presumably results in either perturbation of cell membrane, more efficient cell uptake, or both. Therefore, the half‐maximal effective (EC50) concentration of aminated‐ZIF‐90 has a higher cytotoxicity of about 30 μg mL?1.  相似文献

Metal–organic framework (MOF) materials have an enormous potential in separation applications, but to realize their potential as semipermeable membranes they need to be assembled into thin continuous macroscopic films for fabrication into devices. By using a facile immersion technique, we prepared ultrathin, continuous zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF‐8) membranes on titania‐functionalized porous polymeric supports. The coherent ZIF‐8 layer was surprisingly flexible and adhered well to the support, and the composite membrane could sustain bending and elongation. The membranes exhibited molecular sieving behavior, close to the theoretical permeability of ZIF‐8, with hydrogen permeance up to 201×10?7 mol m?2 s?1 Pa?1 and an ideal H2/CO2 selectivity of 7:1. This approach offers significant opportunities to exploit the unique properties of MOFs in the fabrication of separation and sensing devices.  相似文献

Desolvated zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF‐4(Zn) undergoes a discontinuous porous to dense phase transition on cooling through 140 K, with a 23 % contraction in unit cell volume. The structure of the non‐porous, low temperature phase was determined from synchrotron X‐ray powder diffraction data and its density was found to be slightly less than that of the densest ZIF phase, ZIF‐zni. The mechanism of the phase transition involves a cooperative rotation of imidazolate linkers resulting in isotropic framework contraction and pore space minimization. DFT calculations established the energy of the new structure relative to those of the room temperature phase and ZIF‐zni, while DSC measurements indicate the entropic stabilization of the porous room temperature phase at temperatures above 140 K.  相似文献

The facile synthesis of a porous carbon material that is doped with iron‐coordinated nitrogen active sites (FeNC‐70) is demonstrated by following an inexpensive synthetic pathway with a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF‐70) as a template. To emphasize the possibility of tuning the porosity and surface area of the resulting carbon materials based on the structure of the parent ZIF, two other ZIFs, that is, ZIF‐68 and ZIF‐69, are also synthesized. The resulting active carbon material that is derived from ZIF‐70, that is, FeNC‐70, exhibits the highest BET surface area of 262 m2 g?1 compared to the active carbon materials that are derived from ZIF‐68 and ZIF‐69. The HR‐TEM images of FeNC‐70 show that the carbon particles have a bimodal structure that is composed of a spherical macroscopic pore (about 200 nm) and a mesoporous shell. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) reveals the presence of Fe‐N‐C moieties, which are the primary active sites for the oxygen‐reduction reaction (ORR). Quantitative estimation by using EDAX analysis reveals a nitrogen content of 14.5 wt. %, along with trace amounts of iron (0.1 wt. %), in the active FeNC‐70 catalyst. This active porous carbon material, which is enriched with Fe‐N‐C moieties, reduces the oxygen molecule with an onset potential at 0.80 V versus NHE through a pathway that involves 3.3–3.8 e? under acidic conditions, which is much closer to the favored 4 e? pathway for the ORR. The onset potential of FeNC‐70 is significantly higher than those of its counterparts (FeNC‐68 and FeNC‐69) and of other reported systems. The FeNC‐based systems also exhibit much‐higher tolerance towards MeOH oxidation and electrochemical stability during an accelerated durability test (ADT). Electrochemical analysis and structural characterizations predict that the active sites for the ORR are most likely to be the in situ generated N? FeN2+2/C moieties, which are distributed along the carbon framework.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) feature a great possibility for a broad spectrum of applications. Hollow MOF structures with tunable porosity and multifunctionality at the nanoscale with beneficial properties are desired as hosts for catalytically active species. Herein, we demonstrate the formation of well‐defined hollow Zn/Co‐based zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) by use of epitaxial growth of Zn‐MOF (ZIF‐8) on preformed Co‐MOF (ZIF‐67) nanocrystals that involve in situ self‐sacrifice/excavation of the Co‐MOF. Moreover, any type of metal nanoparticles can be accommodated in Zn/Co‐ZIF shells to generate yolk–shell metal@ZIF structures. Transmission electron microscopy and tomography studies revealed the inclusion of these nanoparticles within hollow Zn/Co‐ZIF with dominance of the Zn‐MOF as shell. Our findings lead to a generalization of such hollow systems that are working effectively to other types of ZIFs.  相似文献

Experimental measurements and molecular simulations were conducted for two zeolitic imidazolate frameworks, ZIF‐8 and ZIF‐76. The transferability of the force field was tested by comparing molecular simulation results of gas adsorption with experimental data available in the literature for other ZIF materials (ZIF‐69). Owing to the good agreement observed between simulation and experimental data, the simulation results can be used to identify preferential adsorption sites, which are located close to the organic linkers. Topological mapping of the potential‐energy surfaces makes it possible to relate the preferential adsorption sites, Henry constant, and isosteric heats of adsorption at zero coverage to the nature of the host–guest interactions and the chemical nature of the organic linker. The role played by the topology of the solid and the organic linkers, instead of the metal sites, upon gas adsorption on zeolite‐like metal–organic frameworks is discussed.  相似文献

Crystal growth of the metal–organic framework MOF‐5 was studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM) for the first time. Growth under low supersaturation conditions was found to occur by a two‐dimensional or spiral crystal growth mechanism. Observation of developing nuclei during the former reveals growth occurs through a process of nucleation and spreading of metastable and stable sub‐layers revealing that MOFs may be considered as dense phase structures in terms of crystal growth, even though they contain sub‐layers consisting of ordered framework and disordered non‐framework components. These results also support the notion this may be a general mechanism of surface crystal growth at low supersaturation applicable to crystalline nanoporous materials. The crystal growth mechanism at the atomistic level was also seen to vary as a function of the growth solution Zn/H2bdc ratio producing square terraces with steps parallel to the <100> direction or rhombus‐shaped terraces with steps parallel to the <110> direction when the Zn/H2bdc ratio was >1 or about 1, respectively. The change in relative growth rates can be explained in terms of changes in the solution species concentrations and their influence on growth at different terrace growth sites. These results were successfully applied to the growth of as‐synthesized cube‐shaped crystals to increase expression of the {111} faces and to grow octahedral crystals of suitable quality to image using AFM. This modulator‐free route to control the crystal morphology of MOF‐5 crystals should be applicable to a wide variety of MOFs to achieve the desired morphological control for performance enhancement in applications.  相似文献

Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks of zinc, cobalt, and cadmium, including the framework ZIF‐8 commercially sold as Basolite Z1200, exhibit surprising sensitivity to carbon dioxide under mild conditions. The frameworks chemically react with CO2 in the presence of moisture or liquid water to form carbonates. This effect, which has been previously not reported in metal–organic framework chemistry, provides an explanation for conflicting reports on ZIF‐8 stability to water and is of outstanding significance for evaluating the potential applications of metal–organic frameworks, especially for CO2 sequestration.  相似文献
