In this paper, we consider a quasilinear elliptic eigenvalue problem. For the unbounded coefficients, we allow the eigen exponent greater than the Sobolev imbedding critical exponent; for the equations, we also allow the coefficient of suitable smallness condition greater than 1.  相似文献

We analyze the resonant reflection of very weak, nonlinear sound waves off a weak sawtooth entropy wave for spatially periodic solutions of the one‐dimensional, nonisentropic gas dynamics equations. The case of an entropy wave with a sawtooth profile is of interest because the oscillations of the reflected sound waves are nondispersive with frequency independent of their wavenumber, leading to an unusual type of nonlinear dynamics. On an appropriate long time scale, we show that a complex amplitude function for the spatial profile of the sound waves satisfies a degenerate quasilinear Schrödinger equation. We present some numerical solutions of this equation that illustrate the generation of small spatial scales by a resonant four‐wave cascade and front propagation in compactly supported solutions.  相似文献

We analyze a mixed finite element discretization of a second‐order quasilinear problem based on the Raviart‐Thomas space. We prove that the discrete problem is solvable and provide a local uniqueness result for the solution. We also obtain optimal order L2‐error estimates for both the scalar variable and the associated flux. The main feature of our method is that it is free from the boundness conditions required in previous works on the coefficients of the quasilinear operator. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Based on the local exact boundary controllability for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations, the global exact boundary controllability for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations in a neighborbood of any connected set of constant equilibria is obtained by an extension method. In this paper we introduce the generalized eigenvalues of a quasilinear elliptic system of resonant type. We prove the existence of infinitely many continuous eigencurves, which are obtained by variational methods. For the one-dimensional problem, we obtain an hyperbolic type function defining a region which contains all the generalized eigenvalues (variational or not), and the proof is based on a suitable generalization of Lyapunov's inequality for systems of ordinary differential equations. We also obtain a family of curves bounding by above the kth variational eigencurve.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with global in time behavior of solutions for a quasilinear Petrovsky inverse source problem with boundary dissipation. We establish a stability result when the integral constraint vanishes as time goes to infinity. We also show that the smooth solutions blow up when the data is chosen appropriately. In this paper, we first consider the Cauchy problem for quasilinear strictly hyperbolic systems with weak linear degeneracy. The existence of global classical solutions for small and decay initial data was established in (Commun. Partial Differential Equations 1994; 19 :1263–1317; Nonlinear Anal. 1997; 28 :1299–1322; Chin. Ann. Math. 2004; 25B :37–56). We give a new, very simple proof of this result and also give a sharp point‐wise decay estimate of the solution. Then, we consider the mixed initial‐boundary‐value problem for quasilinear hyperbolic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions in the first quadrant. Under the assumption that the positive eigenvalues are weakly linearly degenerate, the global existence of classical solution with small and decay initial and boundary data was established in (Discrete Continuous Dynamical Systems 2005; 12 (1):59–78; Zhou and Yang, in press). In this paper, we establish several new Lyapunov-type inequalities for two classes of one-dimensional quasilinear elliptic systems of resonant type, which generalize or improve all related existing ones. Then we use the Lyapunov-type inequalities obtained in this paper to derive a better lower bound for the generalized eigenvalues of the one-dimensional quasilinear elliptic system with the Dirichlet boundary conditions.  相似文献

We prove nonlinear stability of compactly supported expanding star solutions of the mass‐critical gravitational Euler‐Poisson system. These special solutions were discovered by Goldreich and Weber in 1980. The expansion rate of such solutions can be either self‐similar or non‐self‐similar (linear), and we treat both types. An important outcome of our stability results is the existence of a new class of global‐in‐time radially symmetric solutions, which are not homologous and therefore not encompassed by the existing works. Using Lagrangian coordinates we reformulate the associated free‐boundary problem as a degenerate quasilinear wave equation on a compact spatial domain. The problem is mass‐critical with respect to an invariant rescaling and the analysis is carried out in similarity variables. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we first show that quite different from the autonomous case, the exact boundary controllability for non‐autonomous wave equations possesses various possibilities. Then we adopt a constructive method to establish the exact boundary controllability for one‐dimensional non‐autonomous quasilinear wave equations with various types of boundary conditions.
