A series of novel bridged multi‐chelated non‐metallocene catalysts is synthesized by the treatment of N,N‐imidazole, N,N‐dimethylimidazole, and N,N‐benzimidazole with n‐BuLi, 2,6‐dimethylaniline, and MCl4 (M = Ti, Zr) in THF. These catalysts are used for copolymerization of ethylene with 1‐hexene after activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO). The effects of polymerization temperature, Al/M molar ratio, and pressure of monomer on ethylene copolymerization behaviors are investigated in detail. These results reveal that these catalysts are favorable for copolymerization of ethylene with 1‐hexene featured high catalytic activity and high comonomer incorporation. The copolymer is characterized by 13C NMR, WAXD, GPC, and DSC. The results confirm that the obtained copolymer features broad molecular weight distribution (MWD) about 33–35 and high 1‐hexene incorporation up to 9.2 mol %, melting temperature of the copolymer depends on the content of 1‐hexene incorporation within the copolymer chain and 1‐hexene unit in the copolymer chain isolates by ethylene units. The homopolymer of ethylene has broader MWD with 42–46. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 417–424, 2010  相似文献

A series of novel nonmetallocene catalysts with phenoxy‐imine ligands was synthesized by the treatment of phthaldialdehyde, substituted phenol with TiCl4, ZrCl4, and YCl3 in THF. The structures and properties of the catalysts were characterized by 1H NMR and elemental analysis. These catalysts were used for copolymerization of ethylene with acrylonitrile after activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO). The effects of copolymerization temperature, Al/M (M = Ti, Zr, and Y) ratio in mole, concentrations of catalyst and comonomer on the polymerization behaviors were investigated in detail. These results revealed that these catalysts were favorable for copolymerization of ethylene with acrylonitrile. Cat. 3 was the most favorable one for the copolymerization of ethylene with acrylonitrile, and the catalytic activity was up to 2.19 × 104 g PE/mol.Ti.h under the conditions: polymerization temperature of 50 °C, Al/Ti molar ratio of 300, catalyst concentration of 1.0 × 10–4 mol/L, and toluene as solvent. The resultant polymer was characterized by FTIR, cross‐polarization magic angle spinning, 13C NMR, WAXD, GPC, and DSC. The results confirmed that the obtained copolymer featured high‐weight–average molecular weight, narrow molecular weight distribution about 1.61–1.95, and high‐acrylonitrile incorporation up to 2.29 mol %. Melting temperature of the copolymer depended on the content of acrylonitrile incorporation within the copolymer chain. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

A new vinyl azide monomer, 2‐chlorallyl azide (CAA), has been synthesized from commercially available reagent in one step. The reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) copolymerization of CAA with methyl acrylate (MA) was carried out at room temperature using a redox initiator, benzoyl peroxide (BPO)/N,N‐dimethylaniline (DMA), in the presence of benzyl 1H‐imidazole‐1‐carbodithioate (BICDT). The polymerization results showed that the process bears the characteristics of controlled/living radical polymerizations, such as the molecular weight increasing linearly with the monomer conversion, the molecular weight distribution being narrow, and a linear relationship existing between ln([M]0/[M]) and the polymerization time. Chain extension polymerization was performed successfully to prepare block copolymer. Furthermore, the azide copolymers were functionalized by CuI‐catalyzed “click” reaction with alkyne‐containing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to yield graft copolymers with hydrophilic PEG side chains. Surface modification of the glass sheet was successfully achieved via the crosslinking reaction of the azide copolymer under UV irradiation at ambient temperature. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly‐(2‐ethynylpyridinum bromide) (PEPBP) having propargyl side chains was prepared by the direct polymerization of 2‐ethynylpyridine and propargyl bromide under mild reaction conditions without any initiator and catalysts. The polymerization proceeded well to give PEPBP with propargyl side chains in relatively high yields. Various spectral data for the polymer structure indicated that the conjugated polymer system having N‐propargylpyridinum substituent was formed. This ionic polymer was completely soluble in water, methanol, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, and N,N‐dimethylacetamide and well processable into thin homogeneous film. The photoluminescence intensity (λmax = 760 nm) of this polymer increased as the temperature was increased. At 1 KHz and room temperature, this polymer has k′ = 2.9 and σ = 7.3 × 10?10 (S/cm). © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 39: 3151–3158, 2001  相似文献

A series of bis(phenoxy‐imine) vanadium and zirconium complexes with different types of R3 substituents at the nitrogen atom, where R3 = phenyl, naphthyl, or anthryl, was synthesized and investigated in ethylene polymerization. Moreover, the catalytic performance was verified for three supported catalysts, which had been obtained by immobilization of bis[N‐(salicylidene)‐1‐naphthylaminato]M(IV) dichloride complexes (M = V, Zr, or Ti) on the magnesium carrier MgCl2(THF)2/Et2AlCl. Catalytic performance of both supported and homogeneous catalysts was verified in conjunction with methylaluminoxane (MAO) or with alkylaluminium compounds (EtnAlCl3?n, n = 1–3). The activity of FI vanadium and zirconium complexes was observed to decline for the growing size of R3, whereas the average molecular weight (MW) of the polymers was growing for larger substituent. Moreover, vanadium complexes exhibited the highest activity with EtAlCl2, whereas zirconium ones showed the best activity with MAO. All immobilized systems were most active in conjunction with MAO, and their activities were higher than those for their homogeneous counterparts, and they gave polymers with higher average MWs. That effect was in particular evident for the titanium catalyst. The vanadium complex 3 was also a good precursor for ethylene/1‐octene copolymerization; however, its immobilization reduced its potential for incorporation of a comonomer into a polyethylene chain. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The oxidative coupling polymerization of 2,3‐dihydroxynaphthalene with the novel dinuclear‐type copper(II) catalysts successfully produced poly(2,3‐dihydroxy‐1,4‐naphthylene). For example, the MeOH‐insoluble polymer with a number average molecular weight of 4.4 × 103 from the polymerization using the complex of CuCl2 and N,N′‐bis(2‐morpholinoethyl)‐p‐xylylenediamine ( p ‐ 1 ) at room temperature under an O2 atmosphere followed by acetylation of the hydroxyl groups was obtained in 63% yield. The structures of the tetraamine ligands and the counter anion of the copper(II) salts significantly influenced the catalyst activity. The polymerization of 2,2′‐dimethoxy‐1,1′‐binaphthalene‐3,3′‐diol with the 2CuCl2p ‐ 1 catalyst, however, resulted in a lower yield. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Manganese(II) complex catalysts with hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate ligands have been examined on their catalytic performance in ethylene polymerization and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization. The activities of [Mn(L6)(Cl)(NCMe)] ( 1 ) and [Mn(L10)(Cl)] ( 2 ) activated by Al(i‐Bu)3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] for ethylene polymerization go up to 326 and 11 kg mol (cat?1) h?1, respectively, (L6? = hydrotris(3‐phenyl‐5‐methyl‐1‐pyrazolyl)borate anion, L10? = hydrotris(3‐adamantyl‐5‐isopropyl‐1‐pyrazolyl)borate anion). In particular, for ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization, complex 1 gives high‐molecular‐weight poly(ethylene‐co‐1‐hexene)s with the highest Mw of 439,000 in manganese olefin polymerization catalyst systems. Moreover, the 1‐hexene incorporation by complex 1 seems more efficient than that by [Mn(L3)(Cl)] ( 4 ) (L3? = hydrotris(3‐tertiary butyl‐5‐isopropyl‐1‐pyrazolyl)borate anion). In this work, we demonstrated that the coordination geometry and coordination number are also important factors for ethylene polymerization reaction as well as steric hindrances and ligand frameworks in our manganese(II) catalysts. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The use of ethylene glycol solvents in the room‐temperature atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of various hydrophobic and hydrophilic methacrylates is demonstrated. Unlike many of the very polar solvents described in the literature for room‐temperature ATRP, these solvents have good solvency for a wide range of polymers and monomers and are cheap and relatively nontoxic. Ethylene glycols with one hydroxyl and one methoxy group, such as tri(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether (TEGMME), provide optimal results. The polymerization of methyl methacrylate in TEGMME with CuBr/N,N,NN′,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine as the catalyst requires the addition of CuCl2 at the beginning of the reaction to produce well‐controlled polymerizations. This leads to polymers with predictable molecular weights and relatively narrow polydispersities. Polymerization in solvents that are fully methoxy‐capped terminate prematurely because of catalyst precipitation. The electrochemical behavior of copper complexes in selected solvents is examined to determine why these solvents provide good rates at room temperature. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Isoprene polymerization and copolymerization with ethylene can be carried out by using cationic half‐sandwich fluorenyl scandium catalysts in situ generated from half‐sandwich fluorenyl scandium dialkyl complexes Flu'Sc(CH2SiMe3)2(THF)n, activator, and AliBu3 under mild conditions. In the isoprene polymerization, all of these cationic half‐sandwich fluorenyl scandium catalysts exhibit high activities (up to 1.89 × 107 g/molSc h) and mainly cis?1,4 selectivities (up to 93%) under similar conditions. In contrast, these catalysts showed different activities and regio‐/stereoselectivities being significantly dependent on the substituents of the fluorenyl ligands in the copolymerization of isoprene with ethylene under an atmosphere of ethylene (1 atm) at room temperature, affording the random copolymers with a wide range of cis?1,4‐isoprene contents (IP content: 64 ? 97%, cis?1,4‐IP units: 65 ? 79%) or almost alternating copolymers containing mainly 3,4‐IP‐alt‐E or/and cis?1,4‐IP‐alt‐E sequences. Moreover, novel high performance polymers have been prepared via selective epoxidation of the vinyl groups of the 1,4‐isoprene units in the IP‐E copolymers. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Several polycondensations of ethylene carbonate with succinic anhydride or glutaric anhydride (GA) were conducted in bulk. Low molar mass polyesters were obtained with pyridine‐type catalysts and GA. Analogous polycondensations of trimethylene carbonate (TMC) and GA were successful when quinoline, 4‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)pyridine, or BF3 · OEt2 was used as a catalyst. Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectra revealed the formation of cyclic oligoesters and polyesters by backbiting degradation. Monomer mixtures containing an excess of TMC yielded copoly(ester carbonate)s with number‐average molecular weights up to 16,000 Da. Analogous copoly(ester carbonate)s were obtained from TMC and 3,3′‐tetramethylene glutaric anhydride. Furthermore, combined polycondensation/ring‐opening polymerization reactions of TMC and GA with L ‐lactide or ?‐caprolactone were studied. All copolymers were characterized by viscosity measurements and by IR, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopy. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 4357–4367, 2002  相似文献

Dimethylaluminum complexes bearing bidentate amidate, oxypyridine, and salicylaldimine N,O‐ligands and tridentate N,N,N″‐pyridyliminoamide ligands were synthesized and spectroscopically characterized. The complexes were investigated in both neutral and borane‐activated cationic forms, along with bidentate N,N′‐ligated aluminum amidinates, as catalysts for the polymerization of methyl methacrylate, ?‐caprolactone, and propylene oxide. The neutral complexes generally did not carry out polymerization, but the polymerization/oligomerization of all three monomers was achieved when the various catalysts were activated with B(C6F5)3 or [Ph3C]+[B(C6F5)4]?. The N,O‐ligated cations were much less active for polymerization than the analogous, more stable N,N′‐ligated amidinate cations; both types of cationic complexes catalyzed the ring‐opening cationic polymerization of tetrahydrofuran. B(C6F5)3 and [Ph3C]+[B(C6F5)4]? also independently carried out the oligomerization of propylene oxide. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 1633–1651, 2002  相似文献

Polymerization catalysts based on N,N‐dialkylcarbamato complexes of titanium(IV) appear particularly interesting, because these novel catalytic precursors are rather cheap and easy to synthesize and handle. This contribution reports ethylene polymerization behavior of titanium(IV) complexes of general formula Ti(O2CNR2)4 R = Me ( I ) and Et ( II ) and TiCl2(O2CNMe2)2 ( III ). These precursors in conjunction with methylaluminoxane resulted active catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene, affording high‐density polyethylene with limited branch content. The influence of the polymerization parameters was studied with particular reference to the type of catalyst components, solvent, temperature, monomer concentration, and Al/Ti ratio. The nature of the solvent appears crucial for catalytic performances: when toluene was replaced by chlorobenzene, a significant increase of the productivity was ascertained. The obtained polymers were characterized by DSC, size exclusion chromatography, FTIR, and NMR techniques. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

A series of monocyclopentadienyl titanium complexes containing a pendant amine donor on a Cp group ( A = CpTiCl3, B = CpNTiCl3, C = CpNTiCl2TEMPO, for Cp = C5H5, CpN = C5H4CH2CH2N(CH3)2, and TEMPO = 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine‐N‐oxyl) are investigated for styrene homopolymerization and ethylene–styrene (ES) copolymerization. When activated by methylaluminoxane at 70 °C, complexes with the amine group ( B and C ) are active for styrene homopolymerization and afford syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS). The copolymerizations of ethylene and styrene with B and C yield high‐molecular weight ES copolymer, whereas complex A yields mixtures of sPS and polyethylene, revealing the critical role that the pendant amine has on the polymerization behavior of the complexes. Fractionation, NMR, and DSC analyses of the ES copolymers generated from B and C suggest that they contain sPS. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of Me4Cp–amido complexes {[η51‐(Me4C5)SiMe2NR]TiCl2; R = t‐Bu, 1 ; C6H5, 2 ; C6F5, 3 ; SO2Ph, 4 ; or SO2Me, 5 } were prepared and investigated for olefin polymerization in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO). X‐ray crystallography of complexes 3 and 4 revealed very long Ti N bonds relative to the bonds of 1 . These complexes were employed for ethylene–styrene copolymerizations, styrene homopolymerizations, and propylene homopolymerizations in the presence of MAO. The productivities of the catalysts derived from 3 – 5 were much lower than the productivity of the catalyst derived from 1 for the propylene polymerizations and ethylene–styrene copolymerizations, whereas the styrene polymerization activities were much higher for the catalysts derived from 3 – 5 than for the catalyst derived from 1 . The polymerization behavior of the catalysts derived from the metallocenes 3 – 5 were more reminiscent of monocyclopentadienyl titanocene Cp′TiX3/MAO catalysts than of CpATiX2/MAO catalysts such as 1 containing alkylamido ligands. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Three heteroligated (salicylaldiminato)(β‐enaminoketonato)titanium complexes [3‐But‐2‐OC6H3CH?N(C6F5)][(p‐XC6H4)N?C(But)CHC(CF3)O]TiCl2 ( 3a : X = F, 3b : X = Cl, 3c : X = Br) were synthesized and investigated as the catalysts for ethylene polymerization and ethylene/norbornene copolymerization. In the presence of modified methylaluminoxane as a cocatalyst, these unsymmetric catalysts exhibited high activities toward ethylene polymerization, similar to their parallel parent catalysts. Furthermore, they also displayed favorable ability to efficiently incorporate norbornene into the polymer chains and produce high molecular weight copolymers under the mild conditions, though the copolymerization of ethylene with norbornene leads to relatively lower activities. The sterically open structure of the β‐enaminoketonato ligand is responsible for the high norbornene incorporation. The norbornene concentration in the polymerization medium had a profound influence on the molecular weight distribution of the resulting copolymer. When the norbornene concentration in the feed is higher than 0.4 mol/L, the heteroligated catalysts mediated the living copolymerization of ethylene with norbornene to form narrow molecular weight distribution copolymers (Mw/Mn < 1.20), which suggested that chain termination or transfer reaction could be efficiently suppressed via the addition of norbornene into the reaction medium. Polymer yields, catalytic activity, molecular weight, and norbornene incorporation can be controlled within a wide range by the variation of the reaction parameters such as comonomer content in the feed, reaction time, and temperature. ©2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The Cu0‐mediated single electron transfer‐living radical polymerization of acrylamide and N,N‐dimethyl‐N‐methacryloyloxyethyl‐N‐sulfobutyl ammonium in aqueous at 25 °C using 2‐chloropropionamide as initiator with Cu0 powder/tris‐(2‐dimethylamino ethyl)amine (Me6‐TREN) as catalyst system is studied. The results showed the characteristic of the “living” polymerization that were the Mn of polymers increased linearly with monomer conversion and the ln([M]0/[M]) increased linearly with time too, meanwhile the narrow molecular of weight distributions were found at most cases. Because of the high rate constant of propagation and bimolecular termination of the acrylamide, the external addition of CuCl2 is required to mediate deactivation the early stage of polymerization. In addition, the disproportionation constant of CuIX/L in H2O is higher than in other solvents and the coordination of amino group and CuII takes place easily, so the isopropanol or N,N‐dimethylformamide is added to control the polymerization. High conversions were achieved within short time and the polymers prepared showed good antipolyelectrolyte properties in inorganic salts solutions. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Six different complexes containing bis(salphen) [salphen = N,N'‐phenylenebis(salicylideneimine)] ligands were synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis. In the presence of benzyl alcohol as an initiator, all the complexes catalyze the ring‐opening polymerization of lactide and ε‐caprolactone, generating high molecular weight (Mn) polymers in a controlled fashion. The linear relationship between the % conversion and Mn proved the control over the polymerization process. The presence of OBn group as an end group was confirmed by MALDI‐TOF and 1H NMR spectral analysis of low Mn oligomers. The polymerization followed first‐order kinetics as revealed by kinetic experiments. All the complexes were good precatalysts for the polymerization of ethylene. The effect of temperature and time on the yield and activity toward the polymerization of ethylene were widely investigated. In addition, in the presence of tetrabutylammonium bromide as cocatalyst, the formation of degradable polycarbonate with moderate Mn value and narrow molecular weight distributions was observed by the copolymerization of cyclohexene oxide with CO2. The effect of initiator structure, temperature, CO2 pressure, catalyst/cocatalyst loading on the activity, and selectivity toward copolymerization were systematically examined. The thermal properties of the copolymer synthesized were explored using differential scanning calorimetric and thermogravimetric analysis. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. The inhibition of ethylene polymerization with radioactive carbon monoxide (14CO) was used to obtain data on the number of active sites (CP) and propagation rate constant (kP) at ethylene polymerization in the temperature range of 35–70 °C over supported catalysts LFeCl2/Al2O3, LFeCl2/SiO2, and LFeCl2/MgCl2 (L: 2,6‐(2,6‐(Me)2C6H3N = CMe)2C5H3N) with activator Al(i‐Bu)3. The values of effective activation energy (Eeff), activation energy of propagation reaction (EP), and temperature coefficients of variation of the number of active sites (ECp = Eeff ? EP) were determined. The activation energies of propagation reaction for catalysts LFeCl2/Al2O3, LFeCl2/SiO2, and LFeCl2/MgCl2 were found to be quite similar (5.2–5.7 kcal/mol). The number of active sites diminished considerably as the polymerization temperature decreased, the ECp value being 5.2–6.2 kcal/mol for these catalysts at polymerization in the presence of hydrogen. The reactions of reversible transformations of active centers to the surface hydride species at polymerization in the presence and absence of hydrogen are proposed as the derivation of ECp. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of N‐(2‐benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamidate half‐titanocene chlorides, Cp′TiLCl ( C1 – C8 : Cp′ = C5H5, MeC5H4, or C5Me5; L = N‐(benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamides)), was synthesized by the KCl elimination reaction of half‐titanocene trichlorides with the correspondent potassium N‐(2‐benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamide. These half‐titanocene complexes were fully characterized by elemental and NMR analyses, and the molecular structures of complexes C2 and C8 were determined by the single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The high stability of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl complex ( C8 ) was evident by no decomposing nature of its solution in air for one week. The oxo‐bridged dimeric complex ( C9 ) was isolated from the solution of the corresponding cyclopentadienyl complex ( C3 ) solution in air. Complexes C1 – C8 exhibited good to high catalytic activities toward ethylene polymerization and ethylene/α‐olefin copolymerization in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO) cocatalyst. In the typical catalytic system of C1/ MAO, the polymerization productivities were enhanced with either elevating reaction temperature or increasing the ratio of MAO to titanium precursor. In general, it was observed that higher the catalytic activity of the catalytic system lower the molecular weight of polyethylene. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
