The relaxation behaviors of poly(dimethylsiloxane‐co‐diphenylsiloxane)s with different compositions were investigated using dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It is indicated that the content of Ph2SiO unit, which is closely associated with crystallinity of polysiloxane, has a remarkable influence on its relaxation behavior. Two‐phase (crystalline and amorphous phase) structure in the semicrystalline polysiloxane of the present system can be determined for discussing relaxation behavior. An increase in relaxation strength can be reasoned to a cooperative effect of decrease in fraction of crystalline phase and increase in friction between molecular chains. And enhancements in glass transition temperature (Tg) and effective activation energy for glass transition (Ea(eff)) were ascribed more to the stiffness imposed by Ph2SiO unit than decrease in fraction of crystalline phase. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The monomer and excimer fluorescence quantum yields of well‐defined poly(dimethylsiloxane‐co‐diphenylsiloxane)s with different diphenylsiloxane (Ph2SiO) contents have been determined, along with those of 1,1,3,3‐tetraphenyl‐1,3‐dimethyldisiloxane and 1,1,3,3,5,5‐hexaphenyltrisiloxane‐1,5‐diol used as model compounds, in a dilute organic solvent at different temperatures. The measured fluorescence quantum yields of the copolymers are correlated with the fraction of the ? (CH3)2SiO? (Ph2SiO)n? (CH3)2SiO? structures. The monomer fluorescence yield for copolymers with low Ph2SiO contents is dominated mainly by the isolated ? (CH3)2SiO? (Ph2SiO)? (CH3)2SiO? unit, and the apparent mean binding energy of the excimer does not increase significantly with increasing Ph2SiO content. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report preliminary results for the synthesis of polyethylene‐graft‐poly(dimethylsiloxane) copolymers obtained by catalytic hydrogenation of polybutadiene‐graft‐poly(dimethylsiloxane) copolymers (PB‐g‐PDMS). These last copolymers were synthesized by hydrosilylation reactions between commercial polybutadiene and ω‐silane poly(dimethylsiloxane). The reaction was carried in solution catalyzed by cis‐dichloro bis(diethylsufide) platinum(II) salt. The PB‐g‐PDMS copolymers were analyzed by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopies, and the relative weight percentages of the grafted poly(dimethylsiloxane) macromonomer were determined from the integrated peak areas of the spectra. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene glycol (EG) initiated, hydroxyl‐telechelic poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) was employed as a macroinitiator in the presence of a stannous octoate catalyst in the ring‐opening polymerization of 5‐methyl‐5‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one (MBC) with the goal of creating A–B–A‐type block copolymers having polycarbonate outer blocks and a polyester center block. Because of transesterification reactions involving the PLLA block, multiblock copolymers of the A–(B–A)n–B–A type were actually obtained, where A is poly(5‐methyl‐5‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one), B is PLLA, and n is greater than 0. 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy of the product copolymers yielded evidence of the multiblock structure and provided the lactide sequence length. For a PLLA macroinitiator with a number‐average molecular weight of 2500 g/mol, the product block copolymer had an n value of 0.8 and an average lactide sequence length (consecutive C6H8O4 units uninterrupted by either an EG or MBC unit) of 6.1. For a PLLA macroinitiator with a number‐average molecular weight of 14,400 g/mol, n was 18, and the average lactide sequence length was 5.0. Additional evidence of the block copolymer architecture was revealed through the retention of PLLA crystallinity as measured by differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. Multiblock copolymers with PLLA crystallinity could be achieved only with isolated PLLA macroinitiators; sequential addition of MBC to high‐conversion L ‐lactide polymerizations resulted in excessive randomization, presumably because of residual L ‐lactide monomer. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(isobutylene‐co‐p‐methylstyrene) is an important precursor to Exxpro™ elastomers. A previous report detailed the characterization of both the proton and the carbon NMR spectra of the copolymer. 1 However, several resonances in the proton NMR spectrum of the copolymer were not assigned. Specifically, the proton methine resonance of the BSB triad sequence is now identified and used to calculate BSB triad contribution to the copolymer microstructure. This report describes the assignment of this resonance and other resonances associated with microstructural sequence distribution around p‐methylstyrene. The proton NMR signals of interest resonate at 2.8 ppm and 2.5 ppm in a typical spectrum for poly(isobutylene‐co‐p‐methylstyrene). The nature of these resonances were determined by preparation and characterization of specifically deuterated poly(isobutylene‐co‐p‐methylstyrene)s employing both one and two dimensional NMR techniques. The 2.8 ppm signal is assigned as the methine proton of a p‐methylstyrene incorporated between two isobutylene units (the BSB triad). The signal at 2.5 ppm is assigned to the meso‐BSS triad. Determination of these resonances allows for rapid evaluation of isolated p‐methylstyrene units (BSB triads) present in the copolymer using only 1H NMR. The utility of this technique is demonstrated by comparing BSB triad values determined by 1H and 13C NMR analysis. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Biodegradable, amphiphilic, four‐armed poly(?‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(ethylene oxide) (PCL‐b‐PEO) copolymers were synthesized by ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide in the presence of four‐armed poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) with terminal OH groups with diethylzinc (ZnEt2) as a catalyst. The chemical structure of PCL‐b‐PEO copolymer was confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR. The hydroxyl end groups of the four‐armed PCL were successfully substituted by PEO blocks in the copolymer. The monomodal profile of molecular weight distribution by gel permeation chromatography provided further evidence for the four‐armed architecture of the copolymer. Physicochemical properties of the four‐armed block copolymers differed from their starting four‐armed PCL precursor. The melting points were between those of PCL precursor and linear poly(ethylene glycol). The length of the outer PEO blocks exhibited an obvious effect on the crystallizability of the block copolymer. The degree of swelling of the four‐armed block copolymer increased with PEO length and PEO content. The micelle formation of the four‐armed block copolymer was examined by a fluorescent probe technique, and the existence of the critical micelle concentration (cmc) confirmed the amphiphilic nature of the resulting copolymer. The cmc value increased with increasing PEO length. The absolute cmc values were higher than those for linear amphiphilic block copolymers. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Generalized two‐dimensional (2D) Fourier transform infrared correlation spectroscopy was used to investigate the effect of the comonomer compositions on the crystallization behavior of two types of biosynthesized random copolymers, poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyhexanoate) and poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate). The carbonyl absorption band around 1730 cm?1 was sensitive to the degree of crystallinity. 2D correlation analysis demonstrated that the 3‐hydroxyhexanoate units preferred to remain in the amorphous phase of the semicrystalline poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyhexanoate) copolymer, resulting in decreases in the degree of crystallinity and the rate of the crystallization process. The poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate) copolymer maintained a high degree of crystallinity when the 3‐hydroxyvalerate fraction was increased from 0 to 25 mol % because of isodimorphism. The crystalline and amorphous absorption bands for the carbonyl bond for this copolymer, therefore, changed simultaneously. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three linear pentablock quintopolymers (l‐SIDMV), where S is polystyrene (PS), I polyisoprene‐1,4 (PI), D poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), M poly(tert‐butyl methacrylate) (PtBuM), and V poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (P2VP), were synthesized by anionic polymerization high vacuum techniques. The approach involves the following: (a) The synthesis of living triblock terpolymer PS‐b‐PI‐b‐PDMSLi and diblock copolymer P2VP‐b‐PtBuMK by sequential polymerizations of the corresponding monomers with sec‐BuLi and benzyl potassium, respectively; and (b) The selective linking of the living triblock terpolymer with the chlorosilane group of 2‐(chloromethylphenyl)ethyldimethylchlorosilane (CMPDMS), followed by linking of the living block copolymer with the remaining chloromethyl group of CMPDMS. Molecular characterization carried out by size exclusion chromatography, membrane osmometry, solution (in CDCl3 or d8‐toluene) and solid‐state 1H‐NMR spectroscopy indicated a high degree of molecular and compositional homogeneity. Differential scanning calorimetry results on the precursors and final polymers were discussed. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 3938–3946, 2008  相似文献

Novel star‐shaped hard–soft triblock copolymers, 4‐arm poly(styrene)‐block‐poly [poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ethyl methacrylate]‐block‐poly{x‐[(4‐cyano‐4′‐biphenyl) oxy] alkyl methacrylate} (4PS‐PPEGMA‐PMAxLC) (x = 3, 10), with different mesogen spacer length are prepared by atom‐transfer radical polymerization. The star copolymers comprised three different parts: a hard polystyrene (PS) core to ensure the good mechanical property of the solid‐state polymer, and a soft, mobile poly[poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ethyl methacrylate] (PPEGMA) middle sphere responsible for the high ionic conductivity of the solid polyelectrolytes, and a poly{x‐[(4‐cyano‐4′‐biphenyl)oxy]alkyl methacrylate} with a birefringent mesogens at the end of each arm to tuning the electrolytes morphology. The star‐shaped hard–soft block copolymers fusing hard PS core with soft PPEGMA segment can form a flexible and transparent film with dimensional stability. Thermal annealing from the liquid crystalline states allows the cyanobiphenyl mesogens to induce a good assembly of hard and soft blocks, consequently obtaining uniform nanoscale microphase separation morphology, and the longer spacer is more helpful than the shorter one. There the ionic conductivity has been improved greatly by the orderly continuous channel for efficient ion transportation, especially at the elevated temperature. The copolymer 4PS‐PPEGMA‐PMA10LC shows ionic conductivity value of 1.3 × 10?4 S cm?1 (25 °C) after annealed from liquid crystal state, which is higher than that of 4PS‐PPEGMA electrolyte without mesogen groups. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone/methyl acrylate (V/M) copolymers were prepared by free‐radical bulk polymerization using benzoyl peroxide as an initiator. The copolymer composition of these copolymers was calculated from 1H NMR spectra. The radical reactivity ratios for N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (V) and methyl acrylate (M) were rV = 0.09, rM = 0.44. These reactivity ratios for the copolymerization of V and M were determined using the Kelen–Tudos and nonlinear least‐squares error‐in‐variable methods. The 13C{1H} and 1H NMR spectra of these copolymers overlapped and were complex. The complete spectral assignment of the 13C and 1H NMR spectra were done with distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer and two dimensional 13C‐1H heteronuclear single quantum correlation spectroscopic experiments. The two‐dimensional 1H‐1H homonuclear total correlation spectroscopic NMR spectrum showed the various bond interactions, thus inferring the possible structure of the copolymers. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new donor–acceptor (D–A) conjugated copolymer based on benzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b′]dithiophene (BDT) and thieno[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐4,6‐dione (TPD) was synthesized via a Stille cross‐coupling reaction. A highly conjugated thiophene‐based side group, tris(thienylenevinylene) (TTV), was incorporated into each BDT unit to generate the two‐dimensional D–A copolymer (PBDT‐TTV). An alkoxy‐substituted BDT‐based TPD copolymer (PBDT‐OR) was synthesized using the same polymerization method for comparison. PBDT‐TTV thin films produced two distinct absorption peaks. The shorter wavelength absorption (458 nm) was attributed to the BDT units containing the TTV group, and the longer wavelength band (567–616 nm) was attributed to intramolecular charge transfer between the BDT donor and the TPD acceptor. The highest occupied molecular orbital energy levels of PBDT‐OR and PBDT‐TTV were calculated to be −5.53 and −5.61 eV, respectively. PBDT‐TTV thin films harvested a broad solar spectrum covering the range 300–700 nm. A comparison with the PBDT‐OR films revealed stronger interchain π–π interactions in the PBDT‐TTV films and, thus, a higher hole mobility. A polymer solar cell device prepared using PBDT‐TTV as the active layer was found to exhibit a higher power conversion efficiency than a device prepared using PBDT‐OR under AM 1.5 G (100 mW/cm2) conditions. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A poly(D,L ‐lactide)–bromine macroinitiator was synthesized for use in the preparation of a novel biocompatible polymer. This amphiphilic diblock copolymer consisted of biodegradable poly(D,L ‐lactide) and 2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine and was formed by atom transfer radical polymerization. Polymeric nanoparticles were prepared by a dialysis process in a select solvent. The shape and structure of the polymeric nanoparticles were determined by 1H NMR, atomic force microscopy, and ζ‐potential measurements. The results of cytotoxicity tests showed the good cytocompatibility of the lipid‐like diblock copolymer poly(2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine)‐block‐poly(D,L ‐lactide). © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To describe the detailed microstructure of homogeneous ethylene‐1‐alkene copolymer chains and to study the characteristics of single site catalysts, Markov statistics are used to fit peak intensities of all relevant 13C NMR signals of series of copolymers. In the case of the occurrence of inverted comonomer units, a first‐order Markov terpolymer is applied, otherwise a second‐order Markov copolymer model. Chain propagation probabilities are obtained via modeling of the entire NMR spectrum. This procedure results in an accurate reproduction of the chain microstructure, including ethylene, 1‐alkene, and methylene sequence length distributions. If the experimental (co)monomer feeds are known, the reactivity ratios and the theoretical (co)monomer feeds are also found providing information about the copolymerization kinetics and the characteristics of the catalyst. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Model copolymers of poly(butadiene) (PB) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), PB‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PB, were synthesized by sequential anionic polymerization (high vacuum techniques) of 1,3‐butadiene and hexamethylciclotrisiloxane (D3) on sec‐BuLi followed by chlorosilane‐coupling chemistry. The synthesized copolymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). SEC and 1H NMR results showed low polydispersity indexes (Mw/Mn) and variable siloxane compositions, whereas DSC and TGA experiments indicated that the thermal stability of the triblock copolymers depends on the PDMS composition. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The preparation of poly(2,6‐dimethyl‐1,4‐phenylene ether)‐b‐poly(ethylene terephthalate) block copolymer was performed by the reaction of the 2‐hydroxyethyl modified poly(2,6‐dimethyl‐1,4‐phenylene ether) (PPE‐EtOH) with poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) by an in situ process, during the synthesis of the polyester. The yield of the reaction of the 2‐hydroxyethyl functionalized PPE‐EtOH with PET was close to 100%. A significant proportion of the PET‐b‐PPE‐EtOH block copolymer was found to have short PET block. Nevertheless, the copolymer structured in the shape of micelles (20 nm diameter) and very small domains with 50–200 nm diameter, whereas unmodified PPE formed much larger domains (1.5 μm) containing copolymer. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article presents a new type of epoxy‐toughening system, in which high‐Tg polyaryletherketone (PEK‐L) containing one carboxyl group per repeating unit was utilized to randomly copolymerize with epoxy resin (DGEBA) to form crosslinking network. Compared to the neat epoxy resin, the PEK‐L/DGEBA copolymers showed simultaneous enhancement in flexural strains at break by 282%, GIC value by 193%, and flexural strength by 14%. The reason was attributed to the uniform three‐dimensional copolymer network interweaved by PEK‐L and DGEBA segments through strong covalent bonds. The copolymerization process were monitored and examined by FTIR spectra. The effect of copolymer composition on the thermal and mechanical properties as well as toughening mechanism were also investigated and discussed in detail. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Dihydroxyl capped biodegradable poly(DTC‐b‐PEG‐b‐DTC) (BCB) triblock copolymer and poly(TMC‐b‐DTC‐b‐PEG‐b‐DTC‐b‐TMC) (ABCBA) pentablock copolymer have been synthesized by PEG and BCB copolymer as macroinitiator in the presence of yttrium tris(2,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐4‐methylphenolate). The copolymers without random segments have been thoroughly characterized by 1H, 13C‐NMR, SEC, and DSC. Molecular weights of the obtained copolymers are dependent on the amount of PEGs and coincide with the theoretical values. The exchange reaction of yttrium alkoxide and hydroxyl end group is essential for controlling the products' molecular weight. Their thermal behaviors are relevant to the chain lengths of PEG and PDTC segments. The Monte Carlo method has been developed to estimate the chain propagation constant and exchange reaction constant. In average, one exchange reaction will occur after approximately six monomer molecules insert into the growing chain. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐sodium acrylate) copolymer brushes grafted on SiO2‐coated quartz crystal surface were prepared with a surface‐immobilized initiator. The collapse and swelling of the thermally sensitive copolymer brushes in water were studied with quartz crystal microbalance in situ. The frequency and dissipation changes with the temperature increasing in the range 20–38 °C indicate that the brushes undergo a continuous collapse transition. Our results show that the copolymer brushes collapse to a state where the brushes were prepared. A hysteresis was observed in the cooling process. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) results revealed that the formation of some additional hydrogen bonds within the copolymer chains at their collapsed state is responsible for the hysteresis. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel bridged multi‐chelated non‐metallocene catalysts is synthesized by the treatment of N,N‐imidazole, N,N‐dimethylimidazole, and N,N‐benzimidazole with n‐BuLi, 2,6‐dimethylaniline, and MCl4 (M = Ti, Zr) in THF. These catalysts are used for copolymerization of ethylene with 1‐hexene after activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO). The effects of polymerization temperature, Al/M molar ratio, and pressure of monomer on ethylene copolymerization behaviors are investigated in detail. These results reveal that these catalysts are favorable for copolymerization of ethylene with 1‐hexene featured high catalytic activity and high comonomer incorporation. The copolymer is characterized by 13C NMR, WAXD, GPC, and DSC. The results confirm that the obtained copolymer features broad molecular weight distribution (MWD) about 33–35 and high 1‐hexene incorporation up to 9.2 mol %, melting temperature of the copolymer depends on the content of 1‐hexene incorporation within the copolymer chain and 1‐hexene unit in the copolymer chain isolates by ethylene units. The homopolymer of ethylene has broader MWD with 42–46. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 417–424, 2010  相似文献
