5-(3-Methyl-2-phthalimidylpentanoylamino)isophthalic acid as a novel aromatic diacid monomer was prepared in three steps. In the first step, phthalic anhydride was reacted with l-isoleucine in acetic acid solution, and the resulting imide acid was obtained in high yield. In the second step, treatment of this imide acid with excess thionyl chloride gave aliphatic acid chloride in good yield. In the last step, this acid chloride was reacted with 5-aminoisophthalic acid to provide novel bulky chiral aromatic diacid monomer. The direct polycondensation reactions of this diacid with several aromatic and aliphatic diisocyanates such as 4,4′-methylenebis(phenyl isocyanate), toluylene-2,4-diisocyanate, isophorone diisocyanate and hexamethylene diisocyanate were carried out under microwave irradiation. In order to compare this method with classical heating, the polymerization reactions were also performed under solution polycondensation conditions. The polymerization reactions occurred rapidly under microwave conditions and produced a series of novel optically active polyamides (PA)s containing pendent phthalimide group, with good yields and moderate inherent viscosities of 0.17-0.60 dL/g. Some of the new PAs showed good solubility and are readily soluble in organic solvents. The resulting macromolecules were characterized by FT-IR, specific rotation, and representative ones by 1H NMR, elemental and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA).  相似文献

To synthesize ladder‐type polyamides by construction of two amide bonds successively, 2,5‐diaminoterephthalic acid derivatives bearing anthranilic acid ester and isatoic anhydride moieties were synthesized and their polymerization was investigated. Polymerization of the methyl ester monomer proceeded in the presence of lithium hexamethyldisilazide (LiHMDS) as a base in tetrahydrofuran (THF). However, mass spectroscopic analysis of the product suggested that not only the bis(trimethylsilyl)amide anion of LiHMDS but also the methoxide anion eliminated at the second amide‐linkage formation reaction decomposed the isatoic anhydride unit of the growing oligomer by nucleophilic attack to disturb the polymerization. To reduce the nucleophilicity of the eliminated anion, methyl ester of the monomer was changed to phenyl ester and its polymerization was studied. The reaction conditions were optimized, and the best result was obtained when the polymerization was conducted in the presence of 1.0 equivalent of LiHMDS without additives in THF at 50 °C. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Six novel poly(amide‐imide)s PAIs 5a‐f were synthesized through the direct polycondensation reaction of six chiral N,N′‐(bicyclo[2,2,2]oct‐7‐ene‐tetracarboxylic)‐bis‐L‐amino acids 3a‐f with bis(3‐amino phenyl) phenyl phosphine oxide 4 in a medium consisting of N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP), triphenyl phosphite (TPP), calcium chloride (CaCl2) and pyridine. The polymerization reaction produced a series of flame‐retardant and thermally stable poly(amide‐imide)s 5a‐f with high yield and good inherent viscosity of 0.39–0.83 dLg?1. The resultant polymers were fully characterized by means of FTIR, 1H NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses, inherent viscosity, specific rotation and solubility tests. Thermal properties and flame retardant behavior of the PAIs 5a‐f were investigated using thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA and DTG) and limited oxygen index (LOI). Data obtained by thermal analysis (TGA and DTG) revealed that these polymers show good thermal stability. Furthermore, high char yields in TGA and good LOI values indicated that resultant polymers exhibited good flame retardant properties. N,N′‐(bicyclo[2,2,2]oct‐7‐ene‐tetracarboxylic)‐bis‐L‐amino acids 3a‐f were prepared in quantitative yields by the condensation reaction of bicyclo[2,2,2]oct‐7‐ene‐2,3,5,6‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride 1 with L‐alanine 2a , L‐valine 2b , L‐leucine 2c , L‐isoleucine 2d , L‐phenyl alanine 2e and L‐2‐aminobutyric acid 2f in acetic acid solution. These polymers can be potentially utilized in flame retardant thermoplastic materials.  相似文献

A diimide dicarboxylic acid, 1,4‐bis(4‐trimellitimidophenoxy)naphthalene (1,4‐BTMPN), was prepared by condensation of 1,4‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)naphthalene and trimellitic anhydride at a 1 : 2 molar ratio. A series of novel poly(amide‐imide)s (IIa–k) with inherent viscosities of 0.72 to 1.59 dL/g were prepared by triphenyl phosphite‐activated polycondensation from the diimide‐diacid 1,4‐BTMPN with various aromatic diamines (Ia–k) in a medium consisting of N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP), pyridine, and calcium chloride. The poly(amide‐imide)s showed good solubility in NMP, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and N,N‐dimethylformamide. The thermal properties of the obtained poly(amide‐imide)s were examined with differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry analysis. The synthesized poly(amide‐imide)s possessed glass‐transition temperatures in the range of 215 to 263°C. The poly(amide‐imide)s exhibited excellent thermal stabilities and had 10% weight losses at temperatures in the range of 538 to 569°C under a nitrogen atmosphere. A CF3‐containing diamine, 1,4‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluromethylphenoxy) benzene ( I ), was prepared from hydroquinone and 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride. Imide‐containing diacids ( V a–h and VI a,b ) were prepared through the condensation reaction of amino acids, aromatic diamines, and trimellitic anhydride. Then, a series of soluble fluorinated polyamides ( VII a–h ) and poly(amide imide)s ( VIII a–h and X a,b ) were synthesized from I with various aromatic diacids ( II a–h ) and imide‐containing diacids ( V a–h and VI a,b ) via direct polycondensation with triphenyl phosphate and pyridine. The polyamides and poly(amide imide)s had inherent viscosities of 1.00–1.70 and 0.79–1.34 dL/g, respectively. All the synthesized polymers showed excellent solubility in amide‐type solvents such as N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and N‐dimethylformamide and afforded transparent and tough films via solvent casting. Polymer films of VII a–h , VIII a–h , and X a,b had tensile strengths of 91–113 MPa, elongations to break of 8–40%, and initial moduli of 2.1–2.8 GPa. The glass‐transition temperatures of the polyamides and poly(amide imide)s were 254–276 and 255–292 °C, respectively, and the imide‐containing poly(amide imide)s had better thermal stability than the polyamides. The polyamides showed higher transparency and were much lighter in color than the poly(amide imide)s, and their cutoff wave numbers were below 400 nm. In comparison with isomeric IX c – h , poly(amide imide)s VIII c–h exhibited less coloring and showed lower yellowness indices. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A chiral diacid monomer containing L ‐phenylalanine‐9,10‐dihydro‐9,10‐ethanoanthracene‐11,12‐dicarboximido unit was successfully synthesized in four steps and used in the preparation of a series of novel optically active polyamides by direct polycondensation with diverse aromatic diamines using 1,3‐dipropylimidazolium bromide under microwave dielectric heating. Ionic liquids (ILs) efficiently absorb microwave energy and thus are employed as solvent. By controlling the concentration of 1,3‐dipropylimidazolium bromide, reaction time and power level, high yield and moderate inherent viscosity polymers could be achieved in a very short period of time. All the resulting polymers exhibited excellent solubility in various organic solvents. The polyamides were found to have inherent viscosities in the range of 0.54–0.85 dL g?1. These polyamides had glass‐transition temperatures (Tg) above 180°C, and a 10% weight‐loss temperatures in excess of 340°C with char yield at 800°C in nitrogen higher than 40%. A comparative study on effects exerted by microwave technique with conventional method is also presented. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A dicarboxylic acid {1,1‐bis[4‐(4‐trimellitimidophenoxy)phenyl]‐1‐phenylethane ( II )} bearing two performed imide rings was prepared from the condensation of 1,1‐bis[4‐(4‐aminophenoxy)phenyl]‐1‐phenylethane and trimellitic anhydride in a 1/2 molar ratio. A novel family of poly(amide‐imide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.83–1.51 dL/g was prepared by triphenyl phosphite‐activated polycondensation from the diimide‐diacid II with various aromatic diamines in a medium consisting of N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP), pyridine, and calcium chloride. Because the 1,1,1‐triphenylethane group of II was unsymmetrical, most of the resulting polymers showed an amorphous nature and were readily soluble in polar solvents such as NMP and N,N‐dimethylacetamide. All the soluble poly(amide‐imide)s afforded tough, transparent, and flexible films, which had tensile strengths ranging from 88 to 102 MPa, elongations at break from 6 to 11%, and initial moduli from 2.23 to 2.71 GPa. The synthesized poly(amide‐imide)s possessed glass‐transition temperatures from 250 to 287 °C. The poly(amide‐imide)s exhibited excellent thermal stabilities and had 10% weight losses from 501 to 534 °C under a nitrogen atmosphere. A new N‐phenylated amide (N‐phenylamide) unit containing aromatic diamine, N,N′‐bis(3‐aminobenzoyl)‐N,N′‐diphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine, was prepared by the condensation of N,N′‐diphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine with 3‐nitrobenzoyl chloride, followed by catalytic reduction. Two series of organosoluble aromatic poly(N‐phenylamide‐imide)s and poly(N‐phenylamide‐amide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.58–0.82 and 0.56–1.21 dL/g were prepared by a conventional two‐stage method and the direct phosphorylation polycondensation, respectively, from the diamine with various aromatic dianhydrides and aromatic dicarboxylic acids. All polyimides and polyamides are amorphous and readily soluble in many organic solvents such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone. These polymers could be solution cast into transparent, tough, and flexible films with high tensile strengths. These polyimides and polyamides had glass‐transition temperatures in the ranges of 230–258 and 196–229 °C, respectively. Decomposition temperatures of the polyimides for 10% weight loss all occurred above 500 °C in both nitrogen and air atmospheres. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The potassium t‐butoxide‐catalyzed ring‐opening polymerization of 3,3‐dimethyl‐ and 4,4‐dimethyl‐2‐azetidinone proceeds quantitatively in a mixture of N,N‐dimethylacetamide and 5–10 wt % of lithium chloride at 25°C to give the corresponding monodisperse polyamides. The addition of methyl α‐D ‐glucoside into the living polyamide system gives a novel polyamide linked with the glucose moiety at one chain end. A new graft copolymer composed of a water soluble polysaccharide (dextran) backbone and many monodisperse polyamide branches was also prepared by a similar coupling method. The difference in acidity among the lactam monomers, the corresponding polyamides, and the alcohols was essential for the attainment of such a proton transfer‐controlled system composed of the living polymerization and the subsequent coupling reaction. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidene‐2,2‐bis‐(phthalic acid anhydride) (1) was reacted with L ‐methionine (2) in acetic acid and the resulting N,N′–(4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidenediphthaloyl)‐bis‐L ‐methionine (4) was obtained in high yield. The direct polycondensation reaction of this diacid with several aromatic diols such as bisphenol A (5a), phenolphthalein (5b), 1,4‐dihydroxybenzene (5c), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide (5d), 4,6‐dihydroxypyrimidine (5e), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone (5f) and 2,4′‐dihydroxyacetophenone (5g) was carried out in a system of thionyl chloride and pyridine. Expecting that the reaction with thionyl chloride in pyridine might involve alternative intermediates different from an acyl chloride, the polycondensation at a higher temperature favorable for the reaction of the expected intermediate with nucleophiles was attempted, and a highly thermally stable poly(ester‐imide) was obtained by carrying out the reaction at 80°C. All of the above polymers were fully characterized by 1H‐NMR, 19F‐NMR FT‐IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and specific rotation. A novel peptide nucleic acid (PNA) monomer 16 containing a novel 1‐methyl‐6‐mercaptopurine base was synthesized by coupling the in situ generated acid chloride of (1‐methyl‐6‐mercaptopurin‐9‐yl)acetic acid ( 6 ) into an L‐lysine backbone ( 13 ) using 10% CCl4 in pyridine and Ph3P. Compound 6 was synthesized from 6‐mercapto‐1‐methylpurine and ethylbromoacetate in the presence of NaH followed by alkaline hydrolysis and subsequent neutralization with a cation exchange resin. The L‐lysine backbone ( 13 ) was obtained by the reaction of N?‐CBZ‐L‐lysine allyl ester with Boc‐aminoactaldehyde in the presence of NaBH3CN under reductive amination conditions. Oligomerization of the monomer 16 to PNA analogues was achieved using BOC‐BHA‐PEG‐PS resin as a solid support and the in situ generated acid chloride of 16 by 10% CCl4 in DCM in the presence of Ph3P.  相似文献

A chiral monomer containing L ‐leucine as a pendant group was synthesized from methacryloyl chloride and L ‐leucine in presence of sodium hydroxide at 4 °C. The monomer was polymerized by free radical polymerization in propan‐2‐ol at 60 °C using 2,2′‐azobis isobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator under nitrogen atmosphere. The polymer, poly(2‐(Methacryloyloxyamino)‐4‐methyl pentanoic acid) is thus obtained. The molecular weight of the polymer was determined to be: Mw is 6.9 × 103 and Mn is 5.6 × 103. The optical rotation of both chiral monomer and its polymer varies with the solvent polarity. The amplification of optical rotation due to transformation of monomer to polymer is associated with the ordered conformation of chiral monomer unit in the polymeric chain due to some secondary interactions like H‐bonding. The synthesized monomer and polymer exhibit intense Cotton effect at 220 nm. The conformation of the chain segments is sensitive to external stimuli, particularly the pH of the medium. In alkaline medium, the ordered chain conformation is destroyed resulting disordered random coils. The ordered coiling conformation is more firmly present on addition of HCl. The polymer exhibits swelling‐deswelling characteristics with the change of pH of the medium, which is reversible. The Cotton effect decreases linearly with the increase of temperature which is reversible on cooling. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 2228–2242, 2009  相似文献
