We investigate the relationship between the usual and general Hodgeconjectures for abelian varieties. For certain abelian varieties A, weshow that the usual Hodge conjecture for all powers of A implies thegeneral Hodge conjecture for A.  相似文献

There are infinitely many fundamentally distinct families of polarized Abelian fourfolds of Weil type with multiplication from the cyclotomic field of cube roots of unity. The Hodge conjecture is shown to hold at a sufficiently general fiber in any of these families.  相似文献

We prove the classification of joinings for maximal horospherical subgroups acting on homogeneous spaces without any restriction on the characteristic. Using the linearization technique, we deduce a special case of Raghunathan’s orbit closure conjecture. In the appendix, quasi-isometries of higher rank lattices in semisimple algebraic groups over fields of positive characteristic are characterized.  相似文献

In lines 8-11 of Lu (2009) [18, p. 2977] we wrote: “For integer m?3, if M is Cm-smooth and Cm−1-smooth L:R×TMR satisfies the assumptions (L1)-(L3), then the functional Lτ is C2-smooth, bounded below, satisfies the Palais-Smale condition, and all critical points of it have finite Morse indexes and nullities (see [1, Prop. 4.1, 4.2] and [4])”. However, as proved in Abbondandolo and Schwarz (2009) [2] the claim that Lτ is C2-smooth is true if and only if for every (t,q) the function v?L(t,q,v) is a polynomial of degree at most 2. So the arguments in Lu (2009) [18] are only valid for the physical Hamiltonian in (1.2) and corresponding Lagrangian therein. In this note we shall correct our arguments in Lu (2009) [18] with a new splitting lemma obtained in Lu (2011) [20].  相似文献

The involutions in this paper are algebra anti-automorphisms of period two. Involutions on endomorphism algebras of finite-dimensional vector spaces are adjoint to symmetric or skew-symmetric bilinear forms, or to hermitian forms. Analogues of the classical invariants of quadratic forms (discriminant, Clifford algebra, signature) have been defined for arbitrary central simple algebras with involution. In this paper it is shown that over certain fields these invariants are sufficient to classify involutions up to conjugation. For algebras of low degree a classification is obtained over an arbitrary field. Received: 29 April 1999  相似文献

In this paper, we formulate the geometric Bogomolov conjecture for abelian varieties, and give some partial answers to it. In fact, we insist in a main theorem that under some degeneracy condition, a closed subvariety of an abelian variety does not have a dense subset of small points if it is a non-special subvariety. The key of the proof is the study of the minimal dimension of the components of a canonical measure on the tropicalization of the closed subvariety. Then we can apply the tropical version of equidistribution theory due to Gubler. This article includes an appendix by Walter Gubler. He shows that the minimal dimension of the components of a canonical measure is equal to the dimension of the abelian part of the subvariety. We can apply this result to make a further contribution to the geometric Bogomolov conjecture.  相似文献

We show that a generalized quadrangle of order (s, t) with a center of transitivity is an elation generalized quadrangle if st. In order to obtain this result, we generalize Frohardt’s result on Kantor’s conjecture from elation quadrangles to the more general case of quadrangles with a center of transitivity.   相似文献

In this paper we develop a general, systematic, microlocal framework for the Fredholm analysis of non-elliptic problems, including high energy (or semiclassical) estimates, which is stable under perturbations. This framework, described in Sect. 2, resides on a compact manifold without boundary, hence in the standard setting of microlocal analysis. Many natural applications arise in the setting of non-Riemannian b-metrics in the context of Melrose’s b-structures. These include asymptotically de Sitter-type metrics on a blow-up of the natural compactification, Kerr-de Sitter-type metrics, as well as asymptotically Minkowski metrics. The simplest application is a new approach to analysis on Riemannian or Lorentzian (or indeed, possibly of other signature) conformally compact spaces (such as asymptotically hyperbolic or de Sitter spaces), including a new construction of the meromorphic extension of the resolvent of the Laplacian in the Riemannian case, as well as high energy estimates for the spectral parameter in strips of the complex plane. These results are also available in a follow-up paper which is more expository in nature (Vasy in Uhlmann, G. (ed.) Inverse Problems and Applications. Inside Out II, 2012). The appendix written by Dyatlov relates his analysis of resonances on exact Kerr-de Sitter space (which then was used to analyze the wave equation in that setting) to the more general method described here.  相似文献

Let p be an odd rational prime and K a finite extension of \Bbb Qp {\Bbb Q}_p . We give a complete classification of those finite abelian extensions L/K L/K in which any ideal of the valuation ring of L is free over its associated order in \Bbb Qp[Gal(L/K)] {\Bbb Q}_p[Gal(L/K)] . In an appendix W. Bley describes an algorithm which can be used to determine the structure of Galois stable ideals in abelian extensions of number fields. The algorithm is applied to give several new and interesting examples.  相似文献

We show that the Suslin homology group with integral coefficients of a scheme X separated of finite type over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 is a direct sum of a uniquely divisible group, finite copies of Q/Z, and a finitely generated group. We also study the possible type of homomorphisms between such groups induced by the morphisms of schemes. An appendix written by Bruno Kahn is included, which simplifies the proofs and generalizes the results.  相似文献

For a commutative ring R and a faithfully flat R-algebra S we prove, under mild extra assumptions, that an R-module M is Gorenstein flat if and only if the left S-module S?_R M is Gorenstein flat, and that an R-module N is Gorenstein injective if and only if it is cotorsion and the left S-module Hom R(S,N)is Gorenstein injective. We apply these results to the study of Gorenstein homological dimensions of unbounded complexes. In particular,we prove two theorems on stability of these dimensions under faithfully flat (co-)base change.  相似文献

Summary Riemann showed that a period matrix of a compact Riemann surface of genusg1 satisfies certain relations. We give a further simple combinatorial property, related to the length of the shortest non-zero lattice vector, satisfied by such a period matrix, see (1.13). In particular, it is shown that for large genus the entire locus of Jacobians lies in a very small neighborhood of the boundary of the space of principally polarized abelian varieties. We apply this to the problem of congruence subgroups of arithmetic lattices in SL2(). We show that, with the exception of a finite number of arithmetic lattices in SL2(), every such lattice has a subgroup of index at most 2 which is noncongruence. A notable exception is the modular groupSL 2().  相似文献

Haïm Brezis and Augusto Ponce introduced and studied several extensions of Kato's inequality, in particular Kato's inequalities up to the boundary involving the Laplacian and the normal derivative of the positive part of a W1,1 function in a smooth domain [H. Brezis, A.C. Ponce, Kato's inequality when Δu is a measure, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris Sér. I 338 (2004) 599-604; H. Brezis, A.C. Ponce, Kato's inequality up to the boundary, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10 (2008) 1217-1241]. Using potential theoretic methods we answer here some questions raised in [H. Brezis, A.C. Ponce, Kato's inequality up to the boundary, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10 (2008) 1217-1241] about the relations between the normal derivative of a function u and the normal derivative of its positive part u+. The results apply to a large class of domains and elliptic operators in divergence form and finally an expression of the normal derivative of a function of u is given. In the final appendix, H. Brezis solves an old question of J. Serrin about pathological solutions of certain elliptic equations [J. Serrin, Pathological solutions of elliptic differential equations, Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa (3) 18 (1964) 385-387]. This is used in the paper to extend the first version of our main result.  相似文献

Let denote the Hasse-Weil -function of , and let denote the `algebraic part' of the central critical value . Using a theorem of Sturm, we verify a congruence conjectured by J. Neková\v{r}. By his work, if denotes the 3-Selmer group of and is a square-free integer with , then we find that
