Multitopic dibenzylammonium derivatives ( 4 ) of C60 were prepared by Bingel reactions of C60 with a malonate diester ( 2 ) containing two t‐BOC protected dibenzylamine moieties, followed by deprotection and protonation. Self‐assembly of model pseudorotaxanes 5 from the multidibenzylammonium C60 derivatives with dibenzo‐24‐crown‐8 was studied by 1H NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Self‐assembly of linear and star‐shaped pseudorotaxanes 8 with up to 12 arms based on polystyrenes bearing terminal DB24C8 host units ( 7 ) and the guest functionalized C60 salts was demonstrated by 1H NMR spectroscopy and solution phase viscometry. These studies provide further evidence of the potential of supramacromolecular chemistry in construction of complex polymeric architectures. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To prepare new functional covalent architectures that are difficult to synthesize using conventional organic methods, we developed a strategy that employs metal–organic assemblies as precursors, which are then reduced and demetalated. The host–guest chemistry of the larger receptor thus prepared was studied using NMR spectroscopy and fluorescence experiments. This host was observed to strongly bind aromatic polyanions in water, including the fluorescent dye molecule pyranine with nanomolar affinity, thus allowing for the design of an indicator‐displacement assay.  相似文献

A novel achiral monomer end‐capped with a phenyl‐[1,3,4]oxadiazolyl group and threaded through β‐cyclodextrin was synthesized to investigate the host‐guest interactions in the inclusion complex. 1H NMR studies revealed that one or two cyclodextrin molecules were threaded onto the synthesized achiral monomer, leading to the formation of a fibrous construction of self‐assembled inclusion complexes. The formation of a self‐assembled inclusion complex was identified using SEM and TEM. The highly ordered alignment of self‐assembled supramolecules was confirmed using polarized optical microscopy. We demonstrate an easy process for the fabrication of nano‐structured self‐assembled inclusion complexes in pyridine/ethanol (1 mL/10 mL) as well as the enhancement of photo‐induced fluorescence via monomers end‐capped with a phenyl‐[1,3,4]oxadiazolyl moiety threaded with β‐cyclodextrins. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three‐component framework of cucurbit[6]uril, 3‐(1‐methylimidazolium‐3‐yl)propane‐1‐sulfonate and boric acid has been constructed. The crystal structure reveals 1:2 host‐guest motif of cucurbit[6]uril and 3‐(1‐methyl‐imidazolium‐3‐yl)propane‐1‐sulfonate, demonstrating both cation binding of imidazolium moiety and anion binding of sulfonate moiety for the first time. Incorporation of dimeric boric acid facilitates the formation of metal‐free three‐dimensional framework.  相似文献

Supramolecular nanoparticles (SNPs) encompass multiple copies of different building blocks brought together by specific noncovalent interactions. The inherently multivalent nature of these systems allows control of their size as well as their assembly and disassembly, thus promising potential as biomedical delivery vehicles. Here, dual responsive SNPs have been based on the ternary host–guest complexation between cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]), a methyl viologen (MV) polymer, and mono‐ and multivalent azobenzene (Azo) functionalized molecules. UV switching of the Azo groups led to fast disruption of the ternary complexes, but to a relatively slow disintegration of the SNPs. Alternating UV and Vis photoisomerization of the Azo groups led to fully reversible SNP disassembly and reassembly. SNPs were only formed with the Azo moieties in the trans and the MV units in the oxidized states, respectively, thus constituting a supramolecular AND logic gate.  相似文献

Five dioxynaphthalene[38]‐crown‐10 ( DNP38C10 ) macrocycles bearing one, two, three, or four allyl moieties have been synthesized and their ability to spontaneously self‐assemble with methyl viologen to form [2]pseudorotaxanes has been evaluated. Association constants between methyl viologen and several of the allyl‐functionalized DNP38C10 macrocycles are found to be comparable to that of methyl viologen and unfunctionalized DNP38C10 , however, the enthalpic and entropic factors that underlie overall binding free energy vary systematically with increasing allyl substitution. These variations are explained through a combination of solution phase and solid‐state analysis of the macrocycles and their complexes. The utility of endowing DNP38C10 macrocycles with allyl moieties is further demonstrated by the ease with which they can be functionalized through thiol‐ene click chemistry.  相似文献

We report herein the implementation of a dynamic covalent chemistry approach to the generation of multivalent clusters for DNA recognition. We show that biomolecular clusters can be expressed in situ by a programmed self‐assembly process using chemoselective ligations. The cationic clusters are shown, by fluorescence displacement assay, gel electrophoresis and isothermal titration calorimetry, to effectively complex DNA through multivalent interactions. The reversibility of the ligation was exploited to demonstrate that template effects occur, whereby DNA imposes component selection in order to favor the most active DNA‐binding clusters. Furthermore, we show that a chemical effector can be used to trigger DNA release through component exchange reactions.  相似文献

The creation of self‐assembling microscale architectures that possess new and useful physical properties remains a significant challenge. Herein we report that an 11‐helical foldamer self‐assembles in a controlled manner to form a series of 3D foldectures with unusual three‐fold symmetrical shapes that are distinct from those generated from 12‐helical foldamers. The foldamer packing motif was revealed by powder X‐ray diffraction technique, and provides an important link between the molecular‐level symmetry and the microscale morphologies. The utility of foldectures with hollow interiors as robust and well‐defined supramolecular hosts was demonstrated for inorganic, organic, and even protein guests. This work will pave the way for the design of functional foldectures with greater 3D shape diversity and for the development of biocompatible delivery vehicles and containment vessels.  相似文献

Two molecules of cavitand tetraboronic acid and four molecules of various bis(catechol) linkers self‐assemble into capsules through the formation of eight dynamic boronic ester bonds. Each capsule has a different cavity size depending on the linker used, and shows particular guest encapsulation selectivity. A chiral capsule made up of the cavitand and a chiral bis(catechol) linker was also constructed. This capsule induces supramolecular chirality with respect to a prochiral biphenyl guest by diastereomeric encapsulation through the asymmetric suppression of rotation around the axis of the prochiral biphenyl moiety.  相似文献

A series of structural complementary decapeptides with phenyl boronic acid tails or borono‐decapeptides (BPs) were designed and synthesized for supramolecular self‐assembly. After dissolving these borono‐decapeptides in deionized (DI) water, well‐defined nanofibers were formed in BP1 (B(OH)2VEKELVKEKL‐OH) and BP3 (B(OH)2AELELARARL‐OH). It was found that the self‐assembled borono‐decapeptide BP1 and BP3 have a parallel β‐sheet conformation in the formed nanofibers. The strategy demonstrated here shows a great prospect in preparation of well‐ordered nanofibers via rationally designing the molecular structures of peptides.

Insider dealing : Self‐assembled hosts applied as “molecular flasks” can alter and control the reactivity and properties of molecules encapsulated within their well‐defined, confined spaces. A variety of functional hosts of differing sizes, shapes, and utility have been prepared by using the facile and modular concepts of self‐assembly.
