The purpose of this paper is to investigate the isothermal behavior of Fe–27.3Mn–7.6Al–C–6.5Cr–0.25Si–0.88Mo (Mo(0)) and Fe–27.3Mn–7.6Al–1.0C–6.5Cr–0.25Si (Mo(1)) alloys and compare it against Fe–9Cr–1Mo (FCR) commercial alloy. The experiments were carried out at 600°C, 700°C, 750°C and 850°C, each one during 72 h in static air. The oxidation kinetics was measured as a function of time using a Thermogravimetry analyzer (TGA). The structure and composition of the oxide scale were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Integral Conversion Electron Mössbauer Spectroscopy (CEMS). The TGA results show that at all oxidation temperatures the sample FCR exhibit the lowest kinetic corrosion and the lowest weight gain, whereas Mo(0) the highest. By CEMS technique it were found a broad magnetic sextet, which has been fit by one hyperfine field distribution with mean hyperfine field characteristic to ferritic/martensite phase, one Fe3?+? doublet and one singlet for the Mo(0) and Mo(1) alloys. Samples oxidized at highest temperatures exhibit a strong paramagnetic line, probably due that the Cr or Mn oxides may be enriched on the surface. Then, the magnetic phase can be converted partially into austenite phase at highest temperatures.  相似文献

The nucleation behaviour of the homogenization-induced Al6(Fe,?Mn)-to-α-Al–(Fe,?Mn)–Si transformation is investigated in a companion paper to part I (a study with roll-bonded diffusion couples). Diffusion experiments using silicon-coated Al–0.53?wt%?Fe–1.02?wt%?Mn alloy blocks allow control of the thermodynamic driving force for transformation within a microstructure typical of a cast ingot. As expected, this microstructure appears to give ready and yet stochastic nucleation as silicon diffuses into the alloy sections. In addition, transmission electron microscopy is used to analyse partially transformed particles in heat-treated alloy samples of fixed silicon content. This confirms the suggestion made in part I that the transformation preferentially nucleates at matrix grain/cell boundaries. Nucleation theory suggests this results from the ability of the boundaries to relieve volume changes associated with the nucleation event.  相似文献

Effects of addition of Zn (up to 1 wt%) on microstructure, precipitate structure and intergranular corrosion (IGC) in an Al–Mg–Si alloys were investigated. During ageing at 185?°C, the alloys showed modest increases in hardness as function of Zn content, corresponding to increased number densities of needle-shaped precipitates in the Al–Mg–Si alloy system. No precipitates of the Al–Zn–Mg alloy system were found. Using high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM), the Zn atoms were incorporated in the precipitate structures at different atomic sites with various atomic column occupancies. Zn atoms segregated along grain boundaries, forming continuous film. It correlates to high IGC susceptibility when Zn concentration is ~1wt% and the materials in peak-aged condition.  相似文献

TEM investigations of two alloys isothermally heat treated at 175°C and 260°C show how Cu additions to the Al–Mg–Si system affect precipitation. Both alloys had a solute content Mg?+?Si?=?1.3 at.%, 0.127 at.% Cu, but with Mg/Si 0.8 and 1.25. Cu-containing Guinier-Preston (GP) zones and three types of Q′ precursors are identified as most common phases at peak-hardness conditions, whereas β″ accounts for maximum 30% of the total number of precipitates. The precursors have needle (L and S precipitates) or plate (C precipitate) morphologies. They consist of different arrangements of Al, Mg and Cu atoms on a grid defined by triangularly arranged Si planes parallel with and having the same period as {100} Al planes. The Si grid is composed of nearly hexagonal sub-cells of a?=?b?=?4.05?Å, c?=?4.05?Å. The Cu arrangement on the grid is often disordered in the needle precursors. The plate precursor is ordered, with a monoclinic unit cell of a?=?10.32?Å, b?=?8.1?Å, c?=?4.05?Å, γ?=?101°.  相似文献

Roll-bonded diffusion couples are used to investigate a transformation of intermetallic particles from Al6(Fe,?Mn) to α-Al–(Fe,?Mn)–Si that occurs upon homogenization of 3XXX aluminium alloys. By diffusing silicon into an Al–Fe–Mn alloy, the couples permit a progressive increase in the driving force for this 6-to-α transformation, thus allowing study of the nucleation of the transformation. Initially, the aluminium matrix is highly defected from rolling. This microstructure gives frequent (yet stochastic) nucleation of a eutectoid 6-to-α transformation expected from study of direct-chill-cast 3XXX alloys. However, once the matrix has recrystallized, nucleation is restricted to particles that lie on the matrix grain boundaries. The remaining particles, unable to transform eutectoidally, dissolve and supply growth of these α-phase particles, producing marked coarsening.  相似文献

In many common Al–Mg–Si alloys (6000 series) intermediate storage at or near ‘room temperature’ after solutionising leads to pronounced changes of the precipitation kinetics during the ensuing artificial ageing step at ≈180 °C. This is not only an annoyance in production, but also a challenge for researchers. We studied the kinetics of natural ‘room temperature’ ageing (NA) in Al–Mg–Si alloys by means of various different techniques, namely electrical resistivity and hardness measurement, thermoanalysis and positron lifetime and Doppler broadening (DB) spectroscopy to identify the stages in which the negative effect of NA on artificial ageing might appear. Positron lifetime measurements were carried out in a fast mode, allowing us to measure average lifetimes in below 1 min. DB measurements were carried out with a single detector and a 68Ge positron source by employing high momentum analysis. The various measurements show that NA is much more complex than anticipated and at least four different stages can be distinguished. The nature of these stages cannot be given with certainty, but a possible sequence includes vacancy diffusion to individual solute atoms, nucleation of solute clusters, Mg agglomeration to clusters and coarsening or ordering of such clusters. Positron lifetime measurements after more complex ageing treatments involving storage at 0 °C, 20 °C and 180 °C have also been carried out and help to understand the mechanisms involved.  相似文献

Dissolution of large particles in DC-cast 7xxx aluminum alloys is one of the primary objectives of the homogenization process. A mathematical model to describe and predict this complex thermodynamical and kinetical process is of great significance. In this paper, the details of a diffusion-limited dissolution model, based on the thinning, discontinuation and full dissolution (TDFD) mechanism, to predict the dissolution of the Al17(Fe3.2, Mn0.8)Si2 particles is described. The model is capable of predicting the volume fraction and thickness of the particles during homogenization at different temperatures and time intervals. The predicted results are in good agreement with measurements using quantitative X-ray diffraction (QXRD) and quantitative field emission gun-scanning electron microscopy (QSEM). The model predictions of the supersaturation parameter, interface position, interface movement rate of the planar surfaces and the cylindrical edges, and the effect of the occurrence of discontinuities on the dissolution extent are presented.  相似文献

The zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) low-field magnetic moment m of a dense frozen ferrofluid containing Fe55Co45 particles of size 4.6nm in hexane exhibits irreversibility at temperatures T?T b≈ 30?K. FC in μ 0 H ≤ 1?T gives rise to shifted minor hysteresis loops below T b. At T c≈ 10?K, sharp peaks of m ZFC and of the ac susceptibility χ ′, a kink of the thermoremanent magnetic moment m TRM, a sizeable reduction of the coercive field H c, and the appearance of a spontaneous moment m SFM indicate a phase transition with near mean-field critical behaviour of both m SFM and χ ′ . These features are explained within a core-shell model of nanoparticles, whose strongly disordered shells gradually become blocked below T b, while their soft ferromagnetic cores couple dipolarly and become superferromagnetic (SFM) below T c.  相似文献

This study investigates the effects of alloying elements on the microstructural evolution of Al-rich Al–Mn–Cu–(Be) alloys during solidification, and subsequent heating and annealing. The samples were characterised using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, synchrotron X-ray diffraction, time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. In the ternary Al94Mn3Cu3 (at%) alloy, the phases formed during slower cooling (≈1?K?s?1) can be predicted by the known Al–Mn–Cu phase diagram. The addition of Be prevented the formation of Al6Mn, decreased the fraction of τ1-Al29Mn6Cu4, and increased the fraction of Al4Mn. During faster cooling (≈1000?K?s?1), Al4Mn predominantly formed in the ternary alloy, whereas, in the quaternary alloys, the icosahedral quasicrystalline phase dominated. Further heating and annealing of the alloys caused an increase in the volume fractions of τ1 in all alloys and Be4Al (Mn,Cu) in quaternary alloys, while fractions of all other intermetallic phases decreased. Solidification with a moderate cooling rate (≈1000?K?s?1) caused considerable strengthening, which was reduced by annealing for up to 25% in the quaternary alloys, while hardness remained almost the same in the ternary alloy.  相似文献

The effects of Al addition on the precipitation and fracture behaviour of Fe–Mn–Ni alloys were investigated. With the increasing of Al concentration, the matrix and grain boundary precipitates changed from L10 θ-MnNi to B2 Ni2MnAl phase, which is coherent and in cube-to-cube orientation relationship with the α′-matrix. Due to the suppression of the θ-MnNi precipitates at prior austenite grain boundaries (PAGBs), the fracture mode changed from intergranular to transgranular cleavage fracture. Further addition of Al resulted in the discontinuous growth of Ni2MnAl precipitates in the alloy containing 4.2?wt.% Al and fracture occurred by void growth and coalescence, i.e. by ductile dimple rupture. The transition of the fracture behaviour of the Fe–Mn–Ni–Al alloys is discussed in relation to the conversion of the precipitates and their discontinuous precipitation behaviour at PAGBs.  相似文献

Physical and mechanical properties of Fe–Al alloys are strongly influenced by atomic ordering and point defects. In the present work positron lifetime (LT) measurements combined with slow positron implantation spectroscopy (SPIS) were employed for an investigation of quenched-in vacancies in Fe–Al alloys with the Al content ranging from 18 to 49 at.%. The interpretation of positron annihilation data was performed using ab-initio   theoretical calculations of positron parameters. Quenched-in defects were identified as Fe-vacancies. It was found that the lifetime of positrons trapped at quenched-in defects increases with increasing Al content due to an increasing number of Al atoms surrounding the Fe vacancies. The concentration of quenched-in vacancies strongly increases with increasing Al content from ≈10−5105 in Fe82Al18Fe82Al18 (i.e. the alloy with the lowest Al content studied) up to ≈10−1101 in Fe51Al49Fe51Al49 (i.e. the alloy with the highest Al content studied in this work).  相似文献

The wetting behavior of Al–Si–Mg alloys on Si3N4/Si substrates has been investigated using the sessile drop technique. Based on a Taguchi experiment design, the effect of the following processing parameters on the contact angle (θ) and surface tension (σLV) was studied: processing time and temperature, atmosphere (Ar and N2), substrate surface condition (with and without a silicon wafer), as well as the Mg and Si contents in the aluminium alloy. In nitrogen, non-wetting conditions prevail during the isothermal events while in argon a remarkable non-wetting to wetting transition leads to contact angles θ as low as 11±3° and a liquid surface tension σLV of 33± 10×10-5 kJ/m2. According to the multiple analysis of variance (Manova), the optimum conditions for minimizing the values of θ and σLV are as follows: temperature of 1100 °C, processing time of 90 min, argon atmosphere, no use of a silicon wafer, and the use of the Al-18% Mg-1% Si alloy. A verification test conducted under the optimized conditions resulted in a contact angle of θ=9±3° and a surface tension of σLV=29± 9×10-5 kJ/m2, both indicative of excellent wetting. There are many studies to improve the properties of Cu–Al–Mn shape memory alloys, such as high transformation temperatures, ductility and workability. Most of them have been performed by adding a quaternary component to the alloy. In this study, the effect of trace Mg addition on transformation temperatures and microstructures of three different quaternary Cu–Al–Mn–Mg alloys has been investigated using thermal analysis, optical microscopy and XRD techniques. The transformation temperatures are within the range of 120–180 °C, and they have not changed significantly on decreasing the Mn content, replacing with Mg. The fine precipitates have been observed in the alloys with the Mg content up to 1.64 at%. Calculated entropy change and XRD analysis reveal that the alloys with high Al content have mainly 18R-type structure which could be responsible for good ductility and workability.  相似文献

Precipitates in a lean Al–Mg–Si alloy with low Cu addition (~0.10 wt.%) were investigated by aberration-corrected high angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM). Most precipitates were found to be disordered on the generally ordered network of Si atomic columns which is common for the metastable precipitate structures. Fragments of known metastable precipitates in the Al–Mg–Si–(Cu) alloy system are found in the disordered precipitates. It was revealed that the disordered precipitates arise as a consequence of coexistence of the Si-network. Cu atomic columns are observed to either in-between the Si-network or replacing a Si-network column. In both cases, Cu is the center in a three-fold rotational symmetry on the Si-network. Parts of unit cells of Q′ phase were observed in the ends of a string-type precipitates known to extend along dislocation lines. It is suggested that the string-types form by a growth as extension of the B′/Q′ precipitates initially nucleated along dislocation lines. Alternating Mg and Si columns form a well-ordered interface structure in the disordered Q′ precipitate. It is identical to the interface of the Q′ parts in the string-type precipitate.  相似文献

In the present paper a group of Fe–Cu–X–Si13B9 (X=Cr, Mo, Zr) amorphous alloys has been examined by applying different experimental techniques—magnetic permeability, magnetic after-effect, coercive force and electrical resistivity measurements. It has been shown that their soft magnetic properties can be optimised by 1-h thermal annealing at the temperature close to the crystallisation temperature. This leads to an increase of permeability and a decrease of coercive force, thermal instability (magnetic after-effect intensity) and electrical resistivity of the material. The optimisation effect is discussed in terms of different processes—(i) a formation of a nanocrystalline phase with the grain size much smaller than the ferromagnetic exchange length, (ii) an annealing out of microvoids formed during the fabrication process and also (iii) a decrease of the effective magnetostriction constant. The temperature of optimisation annealing treatment is always higher than the Curie temperatures of the materials and varies approximately linearly with the atomic radius of the alloying additions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The evolution of deformation texture and microstructure in commercially pure Al (cp-Al) and two Al–Mg alloys (Al–4Mg and Al–6Mg) during cold rolling to a very large strain (true strain εt? ≈?3.9) was investigated. The development of deformation texture in cp-Al, after rolling, can be considered as pure metal or Copper-type, which is characterised mainly by the presence of Cu {112}<111>, Bs {110}<112> and S {123}<634> components. The deformation microstructure clearly indicates that deformation mechanism in this case remains slip dominated throughout the deformation range. In the Al–4Mg alloy, the initial slip mode of deformation is finally taken over by mechanism involving both slip and Copper-type shear bands, at higher deformation levels. In contrast, in the Al–6Mg alloy, the slip and twin mode of deformation in the initial stage is replaced by slip and Brass-type shear bands at higher deformation levels. Although a Copper-type deformation texture forms in the two Al–Mg alloys at the initial stage of deformation, there is a significant increase in the intensity of the Bs component and a noticeable decrease in the intensity of the Cu component at higher levels of deformation, particularly in the Al–6Mg alloy. This phenomenon indicates the possibility of transition of the deformation texture from Cu-type to Bs-type, which is concurrent with the addition of Mg. Using visco-plastic self-consistent modelling, the evolution of deformation texture could be simulated for all three materials.  相似文献

The microstructure of a Fe–Mn–Si–Al twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel exhibiting remarkable work hardening rate under uniaxial tensile deformation was investigated using transmission electron microscopy to uncover the mechanism(s) controlling the nucleation and growth of the mechanically induced twins. The results show that the stair-rod cross-slip deviation mechanism is necessary for the formation of the twins, while large extrinsic stacking faults homogenously distributed within the grains could act as preferential sources for the activation of the deviation process. The influence of such features on the thickness and strength of the twins and the resulting mechanical behaviour is discussed and compared to similar works recently performed on Fe–Mn–C TWIP steels.  相似文献

The study of recrystallization texture of a cold deformed Fe–Mn–Al–Si–C alloy, with about 30% Mn, has been discussed in this paper. The alloy is fully austenitic at room temperature, and therefore, principal FCC rolling textures were developed in this material at different stages of cold rolling. The present study was undertaken to observe the transformation of FCC rolling texture during recrystallization of a heavily cold deformed specimen. It was observed that isothermal annealing at 750 °C led to a weak recrystallisation texture, which was quite similar to the deformation texture developed at the early stage of cold rolling. During recovery stage, a strong Bs/Goss-type texture was developed, which was identified as a new observation in this work.  相似文献
