In this paper we are concerned with the classification of the finite groups admitting a bipartite DRR and a bipartite GRR.First, we find a natural obstruction that prevents a finite group from admitting a bipartite GRR. Then we give a complete classification of the finite groups satisfying this natural obstruction and hence not admitting a bipartite GRR. Based on these results and on some extensive computer computations, we state a conjecture aiming to give a complete classification of the finite groups admitting a bipartite GRR.Next, we prove the existence of bipartite DRRs for most of the finite groups not admitting a bipartite GRR found in this paper. Actually, we prove a much stronger result: we give an asymptotic enumeration of the bipartite DRRs over these groups. Again, based on these results and on some extensive computer computations, we state a conjecture aiming to give a complete classification of the finite groups admitting a bipartite DRR.  相似文献

In this paper, we study linearly topological groups. We introduce the notion of a weakly linearly compact group, which generalizes the notion of a weakly separable group, and examine the main properties of such groups. For weakly linearly compact groups, we construct the character theory and present an algebraic characterization of some classes of such groups. Some well-known theorems for periodic Abelian groups are generalized for the case of linearly discrete, topological Abelian groups; for linearly compact and linearly discrete topological Abelian groups, we also construct the character theory and study some important properties of linearly discrete groups. For linearly discrete, topological Abelian groups, we analyze the splittability condition (Theorem 3.12) and present the characteristic condition of decomposability of a discrete group G into the direct sum of rank-1 groups. We also present an algebraic characterization of linearly compact groups. We introduce the notion of a weakly linearly compact, topological Abelian group, which generalizes the notion of a weakly separable Abelian group, and examine some properties of such groups. These groups are a generalization of fibrous Abelian groups introduced by Vilenkin. We give an algebraic characterization of divisible, weakly locally compact Abelian groups that do not contain nonzero elements of finite order (Proposition 7.9). For weakly locally compact Abelian groups, we construct universal groups.  相似文献

The goal of this article is to study finite groups admitting a pseudocomplemented subgroup lattice (PK-groups) or a pseudocomplemented normal subgroup lattice (PKN-groups). In particular, we obtain a complete classification of finite PK-groups and of finite nilpotent PKN-groups. We also study groups with a Stone normal subgroup lattice, and we classify finite groups for which every subgroup has a Stone normal subgroup lattice. Finally, we obtain a complete classification of finite groups for which every subgroup is monolithic.  相似文献

Let 𝒞 be a class of groups. We give sufficient conditions ensuring that a free product of residually 𝒞 groups is again residually 𝒞, and analogous conditions are given for LE-𝒞 groups. As a corollary, we obtain that the class of residually amenable groups and the one of locally embeddable into amenable (LEA) groups are closed under taking free products.

Moreover, we consider the pro-𝒞 topology and we characterize special HNN extensions and amalgamated free products that are residually 𝒞, where 𝒞 is a suitable class of groups. In this way, we describe special HNN extensions and amalgamated free products that are residually amenable.  相似文献

In this article we study the automorphism groups of binary cyclic codes. In particular, we provide explicit constructions for codes whose automorphism groups can be described as (a) direct products of two symmetric groups or (b) iterated wreath products of several symmetric groups. Interestingly, some of the codes we consider also arise in the context of regular lattice graphs and permutation decoding.  相似文献

For Kleinian groups acting on a hyperbolic three-space, we prove factorization formulas for both the Selberg zeta-function and the automorphic scattering matrix. We extend results of Venkov and Zograf from Fuchsian groups to Kleinian groups, and we give a proof that is simple and extendable to more general groups.

Pride groups are defined by means of finite (simplicial) graphs, and examples include Artin groups, Coxeter groups, and generalized tetrahedron groups. Under suitable conditions, we calculate an upper bound of the first order Dehn function for a finitely presented Pride group. We thus obtain sufficient conditions for when finitely presented Pride groups have solvable word problems. As a corollary to our main result, we show that the first order Dehn function of a generalized tetrahedron group, containing finite generalized triangle groups, is at most cubic.  相似文献

We give a complete characterization of countable primitive groups in several settings including linear groups, subgroups of mapping class groups, groups acting minimally on trees and convergence groups. The latter category includes as a special case Kleinian groups as well as subgroups of word hyperbolic groups. As an application we calculate the Frattini subgroup in many of these settings, often generalizing results that were only known for finitely generated groups. Abstract

The groups having exactly one normalizer are well-known. They are the Dedekind groups. All finite groups having exactly two normalizers were classified by M. D. Pérez-Ramos and, in a recent paper, S. Camp-Mora generalized that result to locally finite groups. In this paper, we will characterize arbitrary groups with a finite number of normalizers and we will investigate the properties of arbitrary groups with two, three and four normalizers.  相似文献

We study a class of two-generator two-relator groups, denoted \(J_n(m,k)\), that arise in the study of relative asphericity as groups satisfying a transitional curvature condition. Particular instances of these groups occur in the literature as finite groups of intriguing orders. Here we find infinite families of non-elementary virtually free groups and of finite metabelian non-nilpotent groups, for which we determine the orders. All Mersenne primes arise as factors of the orders of the non-metacyclic groups in the class, as do all primes from other conjecturally infinite families of primes. We classify the finite groups up to isomorphism and show that our class overlaps and extends a class of groups \(F^{a,b,c}\) with trivalent Cayley graphs that was introduced by C. M. Campbell, H. S. M. Coxeter, and E. F. Robertson. The theory of cyclically presented groups informs our methods and we extend part of this theory (namely, on connections with polynomial resultants) to “bicyclically presented groups” that arise naturally in our analysis. As a corollary to our main results we obtain new infinite families of finite metacyclic generalized Fibonacci groups.  相似文献

A typical example for the algebraic groups is the general linear groups G = GL(n,F), we have studied the structure of such groups and paid special attention to its important substructures, namely the Parabolic subgroups.For a given G we computed all the Parabolic subgroups and determined their number, depending on the fact that any finite group has a composition series and the composition factors of a composition series are simple groups which are completely classified, we report here some investigations on the computed Parabolic subgroups. Isometric Group Actions on Hilbert Spaces: Growth of Cocycles   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We study growth of 1-cocycles of locally compact groups, with values in unitary representations. Discussing the existence of 1-cocycles with linear growth, we obtain the following alternative for a class of amenable groups G containing polycyclic groups and connected amenable Lie groups: either G has no quasi-isometric embedding into a Hilbert space, or G admits a proper cocompact action on some Euclidean space. On the other hand, noting that almost coboundaries (i.e. 1-cocycles approximable by bounded 1-cocycles) have sublinear growth, we discuss the converse, which turns out to hold for amenable groups with “controlled” F?lner sequences; for general amenable groups we prove the weaker result that 1-cocycles with sufficiently small growth are almost coboundaries. We study three different (co)homology theories for a family of pullbacks of algebras that we call oriented. We obtain a Mayer Vietoris long exact sequence of Hochschild and cyclic homology and cohomology groups for these algebras. We give examples showing that our sequence for Hochschild cohomology groups is different from the known ones. In case the algebras are given by quiver and relations, and that the simplicial homology and cohomology groups are defined, we obtain a similar result in a slightly wider context. Finally, we also study the fundamental groups of the bound quivers involved in the pullbacks.  相似文献

Summary. The goal of this paper is to characterise certain probability laws on a class of quantum groups or braided groups that we will call nilpotent. First we introduce a braided analogue of the Heisenberg–Weyl group, which shall serve as standard example. We introduce Gaussian functionals on quantum groups or braided groups as functionals that satisfy an analogue of the Bernstein property, i.e. that the sum and difference of independent random variables are also independent. The corresponding functionals on the braided line, braided plane and a braided q-Heisenberg–Weyl group are determined. Section 5 deals with continuous convolution semigroups on nilpotent quantum groups and braided groups. We extend recent results proving the uniqueness of the embedding of an infinitely divisible probability law into a continuous convolution semigroup for simply connected nilpotent Lie groups to nilpotent quantum groups and braided groups. Finally, in Section 6 we give some indications how the semigroup approach of Heyer and Hazod to the Bernstein theorem on groups can be extended to quantum groups and braided groups. Both the gauge groups and 5-manifolds are important in physics and mathematics. In this paper,we combine them to study the homotopy aspects of gauge groups over 5-manifolds. For principal bundles over non-simply connected oriented closed 5-manifolds of a certain type, we prove various homotopy decompositions of their gauge groups according to different geometric structures on the manifolds, and give the partial solution to the classification of the gauge groups. As applications, we estimate the homotopy exponents of their gauge groups, and show periodicity results of the homotopy groups of gauge groups analogous to the Bott periodicity.Our treatments here are also very effective for rational gauge groups in the general context, and applicable for higher dimensional manifolds.  相似文献

In this note we consider generalized Coxeter groups and we study the problem of when their commutator subgroup is torsion free. As a consequence we describe all (i) Coxeter groups, (ii) triangle groups and (iii) index two orientation preserving subgroups of the finite co-volume hyperbolic Coxeter tetrahedra, for which the commutator subgroup is torsion free.  相似文献
