In order to reduce erosion of electrodes and consequently achieve a long lifetime for high-power switches, a low-pressure switch, namely the pseudospark switch (PSS), is investigated as an alternative to the conventional high-power switches. The erosion can be reduced further along with an enhancement of the current and the rate of current rise, if more channels are introduced for the passage of current. An intense electron beam is known to be emitted by the hollow cathode during the starting phase in a pseudospark discharge. It has been reported that in a multichannel setup each installed channel can ignite only if it gets ionized by its respective beam. The results presented in this paper show how this multichannel operation can be accomplished. These results are based on a statistical study of a radial multichannel pseudospark switch and an observation of the discharge course by means of high-speed photography and show that a glow discharge trigger, with a high glow current (⩾1.2 mA) and slowly rising trigger pulses (⩾150 ns), allows a simultaneous ignition of up to 12 channels 相似文献

An expression for the electron thermal conductivity in the two-component strongly coupled plasmas is derived. The new formulation is examined in the context of laser fusion plasmas, using static correlations derived from the hypernetted chain equations. We calculate stochastic quantities in a two-component model which is a product of a negative binomial and a Poisson distribution. The generating function and the KNO scaling function are obtained. A formula for the forward-backward (F-B) multiplicity correlation is derived from the generating function. The one-electron momentum distribution function for an electron gas is investigated by a diagrammatic analysis of perturbation theory. It is shown that has the following exact asymptotic form for large k (k ? pF; pF, the Fermi momentum): , where g?(0) is the zero-distance value of the spin-up-spin-down pair correlation function. A model for the phonon frequency distribution function of crystalline polyethylene has been developed considering the mass of the vibrating unit to be two methylene groups and distinguishing between the ‘hard’ longitudinal and transverse dispersive modes. We present calculations of the spin-averaged pair distribution function g(r) in a homogeneous gas of electrons moving in dimensionality D=3 or D=2 at finite temperature. The model involves the solution of a two-electron scattering problem via an effective potential, which embodies many-body effects through a self-consistent Hartree approximation, leading to two-body wave functions to be averaged over a temperature-dependent distribution of relative momentum for electron pairs. We report illustrative numerical results for g(r) in an intermediate-coupling regime and interpret them in terms of changes of short-range order with increasing temperature. 相似文献

A radial multichannel pseudospark switch seems advantageous for switching currents exceeding 100 kA. A single common hollow cathode guarantees the same trigger conditions for all channels. The electron beams emitted out of the hollow cathode of this switch are analyzed by means of Faraday-cups by varying the circuit as well as the trigger parameters. In addition to the cup measurements, the discharge is observed using a CCD camera. It is found that each channel of the switch must receive a respective beam, before the resistance of the switch turns low, if the discharge current is to run through that channel. The Fokker-Planck equation is solved with electron cyclotron resonance heating in a magnetic mirror with a fixed electrostatic potential on a loss-cone boundary and ECR heating. A self-consistent calculation of the plasma concentration justifies the fact that the degree of ionization of the ECR plasma is about 10%. The high values of the total electron energy (15-30 eV) are achieved. The electron concentration and the EVDF anisotropy degree are the nonmonotonic functions of the applied MW electric field. The basis for such dependencies is discussed. A linear perturbation analysis of the Vlasov equation together with with Maxwell's equations is briefly reviewed. The criteria for the start of unstable whistler oscillation growth are proposed. Investigations on the electron beam current of a free running pseudospark discharge are presented. A single gap system with hollow cathodes of different dimensions is used. The filling gases are argon and helium. The electron beam signal consists of a first pulse with currents of several hundreds of mA and a main pulse with currents up to 20 A. A variation of length and diameter of the hollow cathode significantly influences the pressure range in which a free running pseudospark discharge exists and the peak current of both electron beam pulses. Plasma formation and electron beam generation are studied by high speed photography. The experimental results give some information on the discharge mechanisms that is integrated in a qualitative model of the pseudospark discharge 相似文献

用流体模型研究高功率微波气体击穿时, 电子能量分布函数常被假设为麦克斯韦分布形式, 此假设可能将给模拟结果带来较大的误差. 通过求解玻尔兹曼方程, 得到非平衡状态下的电子能量分布函数. 分别将上述两类分布函数引入到流体模型中, 对氩气击穿进行了数值模拟. 结果表明, 基于非平衡分布函数得到的击穿时间与粒子模拟结果符合得很好, 而当平均电子能量较低时, 麦克斯韦分布函数的高能尾部导致了较短的击穿时间. 最后, 采用非平衡分布函数计算了不同压强下的氩气击穿阈值, 发现其与实验结果基本符合.
