In this paper, we introduce and study torsion-theoretic generalizations of singular and nonsingular modules by using the concept of τ-essential submodule for a hereditary torsion theory τ. We introduce two new module classes called τ-singular and non-τ-singular modules. We investigate some properties of these module classes and present some examples to show that these new module classes are different from singular and nonsingular modules. We give a characterization of τ-semisimple rings via non-τ-singular modules. We prove that if Mτ(M) is non-τ-singular for a module M, then every submodule of M has a unique τ-closure. We give some properties of the torsion theory generated by the class of all τ-singular modules. We obtain a decomposition theorem for a strongly τ-extending module by using non-τ-singular modules.  相似文献

We analyze the Krawtchouk polynomials K n (x,N,p,q) asymptotically. We use singular perturbation methods to analyze them for N→∞, with appropriate scalings of the two variables x and n. In particular, the WKB method and asymptotic matching are used. We obtain asymptotic approximations valid in the whole domain [0,N]×[0,N], involving some special functions. We give numerical examples showing the accuracy of our formulas.   相似文献

Directional convexity generalizes the concept of classical convexity. We investigate OC-convexity generated by the intersections of C-semispaces that efficiently approximates directional convexity. We consider the following optimization problem in case of the direction set of OC-convexity being infinite. Given a compact OC-convex set A, maximize a linear form L subject to A. We prove that there exists an OC-extreme solution of the problem. We introduce the notion of OC-quasiconvex function. Ii is shown that if O is finite then the constrained maximum of an OC-quasiconvex function on the set A is attained at an OC-extreme point of A. We show that the OC-convex hull of a finite point set represents the union of a finite set of polytopes in case of the direction set being finite.  相似文献

We describe some basic facts about the weak subintegral closure of ideals in both the algebraic and complex-analytic settings. We focus on the analogy between results on the integral closure of ideals and modules and the weak subintegral closure of an ideal. We start by giving a new geometric interpretation of the Reid–Roberts–Singh criterion for when an element is weakly subintegral over a subring. We give new characterizations of the weak subintegral closure of an ideal. We associate with an ideal I of a ring A an ideal I>, which consists of all elements of A such that v(a)>v(I), for all Rees valuations v of I. The ideal I> plays an important role in conditions from stratification theory such as Whitney's condition A and Thom's condition Af and is contained in every reduction of I. We close with a valuative criterion for when an element is in the weak subintegral closure of an ideal. For this, we introduce a new closure operation for a pair of modules, which we call relative weak closure. We illustrate the usefulness of our valuative criterion.  相似文献

We study the Schur elements associated to the simple modules of the Ariki–Koike algebra. We first give a cancellation-free formula for them so that their factors can be easily read and programmed. We study commutative algebras A over fields of characteristic ≠2, 3 which satisfy the identity β{x(y(xx)) ? x(x(xy))} + γ{y(x(xx)) ? x(x(xy))} = 0. We do not assume power-associativity. We describe the structure of irreducible matrix groups with submultiplicative spectrum. Since all such groups are nilpotent, the study is focused on p-groups. We obtain a block-monomial structure of matrices in irreducible p-groups and build polycyclic series arising from that structure. We give an upper bound to the exponent of these groups. We determine all minimal irreducible groups of p× p matrices with submultiplicative spectrum and discuss the case of p 2× p 2 matrices if p is an odd prime.  相似文献

We make a definition of ω-precategory which should underlie any definition of weak ω-category. We make a precise definition of pseudo-invertible cells in this setting. We show that in an ω-precategory with all weak duals, every cell is pseudo-invertible. We deduce that in any “sensible” theory of ω-categories, an ω-category with all weak duals is an ω-groupoid. We discuss various examples and open questions involving higher-dimensional tangles and cobordisms.   相似文献

We study invariants of the adjoint action of the unipotent group in the nilradical of a parabolic subalgebra of types B n , C n , D n . We introduce the notion of expanded base in the set of positive roots and construct an invariant for every root of the expanded base. We prove that these invariants are algebraically independent. We analyse the mixing time of Markov chains using path coupling with stopping times. We apply this approach to two hypergraph problems. We show that the Glauber dynamics for independent sets in a hypergraph mixes rapidly as long as the maximum degree Δ of a vertex and the minimum size m of an edge satisfy m ≥ 2Δ + 1. We also show that the Glauber dynamics for proper q‐colorings of a hypergraph mixes rapidly if m ≥ 4 and q > Δ, and if m = 3 and q ≥ 1.65Δ. We introduce two notions of amenability for a Banach algebra A. This paper, motivated by transport theory, deals with spectral properties of operators G on a complex Hilbert space H such that SG is self-adjoint where S is a nonnegative operator: We give several lower bounds of the spectral radius of G and determine the latter in some cases. We derive the whole spectrum for power compact G by means of Lagrange multiplier theory. We find out spectral connections between G and SG. We give a (spectral) stability estimate for symmetrizable operators in terms of the spectral radius of the perturbation.  相似文献

We associate an optimistic TU game with each minimum cost spanning tree problem. We define the worth of a coalition S as the cost of connecting agents in S to the source assuming that agents in N\S are already connected to the source, and agents in S can connect through agents in N\S. In this paper, we study the relation between local spectral properties of the linear operators RS and SR. We show that RS and SR share the same local spectral properties SVEP, (β), (δ) and decomposability. We also show that RS is subscalar if and only if SR is subscalar. In this paper we study some aspects of weighted flow time. We first show that the online algorithm Highest Density First is an O(1)-speed O(1)-approximation algorithm for P|ri,pmtn|∑wiFi. We then consider a related Deadline Scheduling Problem that involves minimizing the weight of the jobs unfinished by some unknown deadline D on a uniprocessor. We show that any c-competitive online algorithm for weighted flow time must also be c-competitive for deadline scheduling. We then give an O(1)-competitive algorithm for deadline scheduling.  相似文献

We find exact solutions of the Dirac equation and the fermion energy spectrum in the Coulomb (vector and scalar) potential and Aharonov-Bohm potential in 2+1 dimensions taking the particle spin into account. We describe the fermion spin using the two-component Dirac equation with the additional (spin) parameter introduced by Hagen. We consider the effect of creation of fermion pairs from the vacuum by a strong Coulomb field in the Aharonov-Bohm potential in 2+1 dimensions. We obtain transcendental equations implicitly determining the electron energy spectrum near the boundary of the lower energy continuum and the critical charge. We numerically solve the equation for the critical charge.
