Symbol-pair codes introduced by Cassuto and Blaum in 2010 are designed to protect against the pair errors in symbol-pair read channels. One of the central themes in symbol-error correction is the construction of maximal distance separable (MDS) symbol-pair codes that possess the largest possible pair-error correcting performance. Based on repeated-root cyclic codes, we construct two classes of MDS symbol-pair codes for more general generator polynomials and also give a new class of almost MDS (AMDS) symbol-pair codes with the length lp. In addition, we derive all MDS and AMDS symbol-pair codes with length 3p, when the degree of the generator polynomials is no more than 10. The main results are obtained by determining the solutions of certain equations over finite fields.  相似文献

MDS self-dual codes over finite fields have attracted a lot of attention in recent years by their theoretical interests in coding theory and applications in cryptography and combinatorics. In this paper we present a series of MDS self-dual codes with new length by using generalized Reed-Solomon codes and extended generalized Reed-Solomon codes as the candidates of MDS codes and taking their evaluation sets as a union of cyclotomic classes. The conditions on such MDS codes being self-dual are expressed in terms of cyclotomic numbers.  相似文献

Finite commutative semi-simple rings are direct sum of finite fields. In this study, we investigate the algebraic structure of λ-constacyclic codes over such finite semi-simple rings. Among others, necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of self-dual, LCD, and Hermitian dual-containing λ-constacyclic codes over finite semi-simple rings are provided. Using the CSS and Hermitian constructions, quantum MDS codes over finite semi-simple rings are constructed.  相似文献

We give a bound for codes over an arbitrary alphabet in a non-Hamming metric and define MDS codes as codes meeting this bound. We show that MDS codes are precisely those codes that are uniformly distributed and show that their weight enumerators based on this metric are uniquely determined.  相似文献

Codes of Small Defect   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The parameters of a linear code C over GF(q) are given by [n,k,d], where n denotes the length, k the dimension and d the minimum distance of C. The code C is called MDS, or maximum distance separable, if the minimum distance d meets the Singleton bound, i.e. d = n-k+1 Unfortunately, the parameters of an MDS code are severely limited by the size of the field. Thus we look for codes which have minimum distance close to the Singleton bound. Of particular interest is the class of almost MDS codes, i.e. codes for which d=n-k. We will present a condition on the minimum distance of a code to guarantee that the orthogonal code is an almost MDS code. This extends a result of Dodunekov and Landgev Dodunekov. Evaluation of the MacWilliams identities leads to a closed formula for the weight distribution which turns out to be completely determined for almost MDS codes up to one parameter. As a consequence we obtain surprising combinatorial relations in such codes. This leads, among other things, to an answer to a question of Assmus and Mattson 5 on the existence of self-dual [2d,d,d]-codes which have no code words of weight d+1. Actually there are more codes than Assmus and Mattson expected, but the examples which we know are related to the expected ones.  相似文献

In this paper, a Roos like bound on the minimum distance for skew cyclic codes over a general field is provided. The result holds in the Hamming metric and in the rank metric. The proofs involve arithmetic properties of skew polynomials and an analysis of the rank of parity-check matrices. For the rank metric case, a way to arithmetically construct codes with a prescribed minimum rank distance, using the skew Roos bound, is also given. Moreover, some examples of MDS codes and MRD codes over finite fields are built, using the skew Roos bound.  相似文献

In this paper1, we prove existence of optimal complementary dual codes (LCD codes) over large finite fields. We also give methods to generate orthogonal matrices over finite fields and then apply them to construct LCD codes. Construction methods include random sampling in the orthogonal group, code extension, matrix product codes and projection over a self-dual basis.  相似文献

We study codes over the p-adic integers and correct errors in the existing literature. We show that MDS codes exist over the p-adics for all lengths, ranks and p. We show that self-dual codes exist over the 2-adics if and only if the length is a multiple of 8 and that self-dual codes exist over the p-adics with p odd if and only if the length is 0 (mod 4) for p ≡ 3 (mod 4) and 0 (mod 2) for p ≡ 1 (mod 4).  相似文献

Galois hulls of MDS codes can be applied to construst MDS entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting codes (EAQECCs). Goppa codes and expurgated Goppa codes (resp., extended Goppa codes) over Fqm are GRS codes (resp., extended GRS codes) when m=1. In this paper, we investigate the Galois dual codes of a special kind of Goppa codes and related codes and provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the Galois dual codes of such codes to be Goppa codes and related codes. Then we determine the Galois hulls of the above codes. In particular, we completely characterize Galois LCD, Galois self-orthogonal, Galois dual-containing and Galois self-dual codes among such family of codes. Moreover, we apply the above results to EAQECCs.  相似文献

Quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS) codes are an important class of quantum codes. In this paper we mainly use classical Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed–Solomon codes to construct three classes of new quantum MDS codes. Further, these quantum MDS codes have large minimum distance and short length.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to construct nontrivial MDS self-dual codes over Galois rings. We consider a building-up construction of self-dual codes over Galois rings as a GF(q)-analogue of (Kim and Lee, J Combin Theory ser A, 105:79–95). We give a necessary and sufficient condition on which the building-up construction holds. We construct MDS self-dual codes of lengths up to 8 over GR(32,2), GR(33,2) and GR(34,2), and near-MDS self-dual codes of length 10 over these rings. In a similar manner, over GR(52,2), GR(53,2) and GR(72,2), we construct MDS self-dual codes of lengths up to 10 and near-MDS self-dual codes of length 12. Furthermore, over GR(112,2) we have MDS self-dual codes of lengths up to 12.   相似文献

Quantum maximum distance separable (MDS) codes form a significant class of quantum codes. In this paper, by using Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed–Solomon codes, we construct two new classes of q-ary quantum MDS codes, which have minimum distance greater than q2. Most of these quantum MDS codes are new in the sense that their parameters are not covered by the codes available in the literature.  相似文献

Affine-invariant codes are extended cyclic codes of length p m invariant under the affine-group acting on . This class of codes includes codes of great interest such as extended narrow-sense BCH codes. In recent papers, we classified the automorphism groups of affine-invariant codes berg, bech1. We derive here new results, especially when the alphabet field is an extension field, by expanding our previous tools. In particular we complete our results on BCH codes, giving the automorphism groups of extended narrow-sense BCH codes defined over any extension field.  相似文献

Maximum distance separable codes and arcs in projective spaces   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Given any linear code C over a finite field GF(q) we show how C can be described in a transparent and geometrical way by using the associated Bruen-Silverman code. Then, specializing to the case of MDS codes we use our new approach to offer improvements to the main results currently available concerning MDS extensions of linear MDS codes. We also sharply limit the possibilities for constructing long non-linear MDS codes. Our proofs make use of the connection between the work of Rédei [L. Rédei, Lacunary Polynomials over Finite Fields, North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1973. Translated from the German by I. Földes. [18]] and the Rédei blocking sets that was first pointed out over thirty years ago in [A.A. Bruen, B. Levinger, A theorem on permutations of a finite field, Canad. J. Math. 25 (1973) 1060-1065]. The main results of this paper significantly strengthen those in [A. Blokhuis, A.A. Bruen, J.A. Thas, Arcs in PG(n,q), MDS-codes and three fundamental problems of B. Segre—Some extensions, Geom. Dedicata 35 (1-3) (1990) 1-11; A.A. Bruen, J.A. Thas, A.Blokhuis, On M.D.S. codes, arcs in PG(n,q) with q even, and a solution of three fundamental problems of B. Segre, Invent. Math. 92 (3) (1988) 441-459].  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain some new results on the existence of MDS self-dual codes utilizing (extended) generalized Reed-Solomon codes over finite fields of odd characteristic. For finite field with odd characteristic and square cardinality, our results can produce more classes of MDS self-dual codes than previous works.  相似文献

Almost MDS Codes   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
MDS codes are codes meeting the Singleton bound. Both for theory and practice, these codes are very important and have been studied extensively. Codes near this bound, but not attaining it, have had far less attention. In this paper we study codes that almost reach the Singleton bound.  相似文献

The determination of the weight distribution of linear codes has been a fascinating problem since the very beginning of coding theory. There has been a lot of research on weight enumerators of special cases, such as self-dual codes and codes with small Singleton's defect. We propose a new set of linear relations that must be satisfied by the coefficients of the weight distribution. From these relations we are able to derive known identities (in an easier way) for interesting cases, such as extremal codes, Hermitian codes, MDS and NMDS codes. Moreover, we are able to present for the first time the weight distribution of AMDS codes. We also discuss the link between our results and the Pless equations.  相似文献
