Certain definitions introduce appropriate concepts, among which are the definitions of the counting functions of the primes and twin primes, along with definitions of the correlation coefficient in a bivariate sample space. It is argued conjecturally that the characteristic functions of the prime p and of the quantity p?+?2 are highly correlated, based upon the observed behaviour of their corresponding counting functions. This conjecture implies the truth of the famous ‘weak twin primes conjecture’ (WTPC). In conclusion, this same argument may be used to advance the truth of other famous number theoretic conjectures, such as the Goldbach conjecture.  相似文献

The Wiener-Ikehara theorem was devised to obtain a simple proof of the prime number theorem. It usesno other information about the zeta function ~(z) than that it is zero-free and analytic for Rez ? 1, apart from a simple pole at z = 1 with residue 1. In the Wiener-Ikehara theorem, the boundary behavior of a Laplace transform in the complex plane plays a crucial role. Subtracting the principal singularity, a first order pole, the classical theorem requires uniform convergence to a boundary function on every finite interval. Here it is shown that local pseudofunction boundary behavior, which allows mild singularities, is necessary and sufficient for the desired asymptotic relation. It follows that the twin-prime conjecture is equivalent to pseudofunction boundary behavior of a certain analytic function.  相似文献

B.C. Berndt (J. Reine Angew. Math. 272:182–193, 1975; 304:332–365, 1978) has derived a number of new transformation formulas, in particular, the transformation formulae of the logarithms of the classical theta functions, by using a transformation formula for a more general class of Eisenstein series. In this paper, we continue his study. By using a transformation formula for a class of twisted generalized Eisenstein series, we generalize a transformation formula given by J. Lehner (Duke Math. J. 8:631–655, 1941) and give a new proof for transformation formulas proved by Y. Yang (Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 36:671–682, 2004). We define a nonzero ideal A of an integral domain R to be a t-SFT-ideal if there exist a finitely generated ideal B ? A and a positive integer k such that a k  ? B v for each a ? A t , and a domain R to be a t-SFT-ring if each nonzero ideal of R is a t-SFT-ideal. This article presents a number of basic properties and stability results for t-SFT-rings. We show that an integral domain R is a Krull domain if and only if R is a completely integrally closed t-SFT-ring; for an integrally closed domain R, R is a t-SFT-ring if and only if R[X] is a t-SFT-ring; if R is a t-SFT-domain, then t ? dim R[[X]] ≥ t ? dim R. In this paper, we define finitely additive, probability and modular functions over semiring-like structures. We investigate finitely additive functions with the help of complemented elements of a semiring. We also generalize some classical results in probability theory such as the law of total probability, Bayes’ theorem, the equality of parallel systems, and Poincaré’s inclusion-exclusion theorem. While we prove that modular functions over a couple of known semirings are almost constant, we show it is possible to define many different modular functions over some semirings such as bottleneck algebras and the semiring (Id(D),+,?), where D is a Dedekind domain.  相似文献
