The knowledge of the cortical bone thickness profile in human bone has a two-fold clinical significance: to study the stress occurring in a loaded bone structure to optimize the design of prostheses; and to predict the onset of advanced bone disease such as osteoporosis. In this study, the cortical bone thickness in three embalmed human cadaver femora were measured non-destructively using an ultrasonic technique. These thickness measurements were also made using a computed tomographic (CT) scanning method. Subsequently bones were sectioned and the actual bone thicknesses in the same regions were measured using a micrometer. The correlation coefficient between the actual thickness and the ultrasonically measured thickness was 0.95 and with the CT was 0.62. Thus, these results show that, under present experimental conditions, ultrasonic thickness measurements compare well with the micrometer actual thickness results. This technique, when fully developed, can be used as a non-destructive tool for quantitative cortical bone thickness measurements. Moreover, the ultrasonic technique does not use ionizing radiation.  相似文献

In this work, we demonstrate for the first time that it is possible to transfer simultaneously an ultra-stable optical frequency and precise and accurate timing over 540 km using a public telecommunication optical fiber network with Internet data. The optical phase is used to carry both the frequency information and the timestamps by modulating a very narrow optical carrier at 1.55 μm with spread spectrum signals using two-way satellite time transfer modems. The results in terms of absolute time accuracy (250 ps) and long-term timing stability (20 ps) well outperform the conventional Global Navigation Satellite System or geostationary transfer methods.  相似文献

A new method for measuring a displacement vector using a single hologram is discussed. The method realizes the measurement by observing the object through three or more points on the hologram using a single lens and by using a heterodyne technique to detect accurate phase differences. In order to establish the optimum optical system of this method, it is necessary to estimate the measuring errors caused by fringe reading error and optical setting error. These two errors are calculated for a typical optical system. On the basis of the results of the analysis, an experimental result was evaluated.  相似文献

冲击波精密调速技术是惯性约束聚变研究的关键技术之一. 针对冲击波精密调速诊断技术的要求, 以神光III原型上脉宽为3 ns的两台阶整形激光脉冲为源, 用石英晶体做窗口材料, 模拟了双冲击在石英晶体中传输和追赶的过程. 利用两发典型双冲击波调速的实验数据, 验证了神光III原型具有的精密调速能力. 实验结果表明, 在驱动源、 靶和诊断系统参数一致的条件下, 两发实验获得的实验结果中两次冲击出现的时刻, 冲击波速度都很一致. 通过精细分析, 发现在两次冲击交会的时刻, 干涉条纹清晰度和完整性变化最大, 最终数据处理获得的冲击波速度偏差也最大. 同时, 在二次冲击的冲击波速度有较大增加的条件下, 并没有观察到冲击波阵面的反射率的明显增加. 本文的实验结果作为一个数据依据, 为全面开展冲击波调速实验提供了有效的方法.  相似文献

Knowledge of the nanoparticle size distribution is important for the interpretation of experimental results in many studies of nanoparticle properties. An automated method is needed for accurate and robust estimation of particle size distribution from nanoparticle images with thousands of particles. In this paper, we present an automated image analysis technique based on a deformable ellipse model that can perform this task. Results of using this technique are shown for both nearly spherical particles and more irregularly shaped particles. The technique proves to be a very useful tool for nanoparticle research.  相似文献

Knowing the relationship between three‐dimensional structure and properties is paramount for complete understanding of material behavior. In this work, the internal nanostructure of micrometer‐size (~10 µm) composite Ni/Al particles was analyzed using two different approaches. The first technique, synchrotron‐based X‐ray nanotomography, is a nondestructive method that can attain resolutions of tens of nanometers. The second is a destructive technique with sub‐nanometer resolution utilizing scanning electron microscopy combined with an ion beam and `slice and view' analysis, where the sample is repeatedly milled and imaged. The obtained results suggest that both techniques allow for an accurate characterization of the larger‐scale structures, while differences exist in the characterization of the smallest features. Using the Monte Carlo method, the effective resolution of the X‐ray nanotomography technique was determined to be ~48 nm, while focused‐ion‐beam sectioning with `slice and view' analysis was ~5 nm.  相似文献

The precision of spike response timing of 94 primary auditory cortex neurons was studied using conventional extracellular recording techniques in barbiturate-anesthetized cats to which tone- and/or noise-burst stimuli were presented using sealed sound delivery systems. Precision of spike timing was indexed using the standard deviation of the first-spike latent period in responses evoked by repeated presentation of tonal stimuli systematically varied in frequency, amplitude, and/or repetition rate. Within a neuron, variability of first-spike timing was usually proportional to the mean first-spike latency, in agreement with previous reports. In cases where there was a systematic relation between the precision of response timing and the mean latency, a linear correlation accounted for up to 90% of the data variance. Across the 94 neurons, standard deviations seen in responses of minimum latency were related to minimal mean latencies, and were typically in the range from 0.15-1.5 ms. The data suggest that responses to transients in the cortex show a precision of spike timing which is only slightly worse than that seen in cochlear-nerve fibers. This, however, is in dramatic contrast to previous evidence on the steady-state temporal response of cortical cells, which is at least an order of magnitude poorer than that seen in auditory-nerve fibers and many cochlear nucleus cells. These observations may be directly relevant to the known consequences of auditory cortex pathology in man.  相似文献

The present study proposes a localized thickened flame (LTF) model for the accurate prediction of flame propagation and autoignition timing. The unresolved-scale terms appeared in spatially-filtered governing equations due to thin flame structures are constructed under a physical constraint in which laminar flame speed is maintained. A high-order derivative is introduced to dynamically localize the effects of the LTF in the regions of unresolved propagating flame. The model is also designed such that the thickened flame is resolved by the same number of grid points for any grid size used. Therefore, a user-specified constant in the model does not need to be adjusted depending on the employed grid size. Laminar flame propagation problems are used to validate the performance of the proposed LTF model and determine the appropriate value of the user-specified constant. The results using a one-dimensional constant-volume reactor demonstrate that the LTF successfully captures the accurate flame propagation behaviors under elevated pressure conditions, while not affecting the end-gas autoignition timing, even on relatively coarse grid resolutions. The high-order derivative in the LTF serves as a dynamic parameter for detecting the thinning flame under elevated pressure conditions.  相似文献

The rapid biexponential transverse relaxation of the sodium MR signal from brain tissue requires efficient k-space sampling for quantitative imaging in a time that is acceptable for human subjects. The flexible twisted projection imaging (flexTPI) sequence has been shown to be suitable for quantitative sodium imaging with an ultra-short echo time to minimize signal loss. The fidelity of the k-space center location is affected by the readout gradient timing errors on the three physical axes, which is known to cause image distortion for projection-based acquisitions. This study investigated the impact of these timing errors on the voxel-wise accuracy of the tissue sodium concentration (TSC) bioscale measured with the flexTPI sequence. Our simulations show greater than 20% spatially varying quantification errors when the gradient timing errors are larger than 10 μs on all three axes. The quantification is more tolerant of gradient timing errors on the Z-axis. An existing method was used to measure the gradient timing errors with <1 μs error. The gradient timing error measurement is shown to be RF coil dependent, and timing error differences of up to ~16 μs have been observed between different RF coils used on the same scanner. The measured timing errors can be corrected prospectively or retrospectively to obtain accurate TSC values.  相似文献

提出了一种基于分子共振吸收滤波技术的水中布里渊散射频移的探测方法——边缘探测方法。利用碘分子在水中的布里渊散射光谱范围内的两个对称的吸收峰,可以对光在水中的布里渊散射频移实现高精度的实时测量。对这一方法的原理进行了分析,给出了可用于实际测量的探测系统,并给出了用此系统得到的实验测量结果。还分析了测量系统的固有误差及测量灵敏度。结果表明,这一新方法与常规探测方法(如扫描干涉仪法)相比,具有实时性好、灵敏度高、测量精度高等突出的优点。  相似文献

We have estimated the accuracy of volume measurements of multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions made using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for lesions of comparable diameter to the image slice thickness. We used a phantom containing objects of known volume and obtained images using a range of slice thicknesses. Measurements on the phantom were used to assess a theoretical model, which was then employed to investigate the effects of image dimensions and geometry upon volume measurement accuracy. We observed measured volume to be dependent upon slice thickness. Thin slices gave the most accurate estimate of volume. As slice thickness increased relative to object diameter, the error in the volume measurement increased (to as much as 100%), the volume measured being dependent on the position of the object relative to the slice center. Using a signal intensity threshold value of 50% to outline objects gave results closest to the actual volume. As expected, a lower threshold value tended to give higher volume estimates (up to 100% larger), as did a semi-automated local edge detection technique. For accurate volume measurement, the slice thickness should be no more than a fifth of anticipated object diameter. For typical MS lesions (7 mm in diameter), this implies using a 1.5-mm slice thickness. For serial studies, a repositioning error of 1 mm could lead to differences in the volume measurement of individual lesions of up to 12% between studies for lesions of typical MS size and 5-mm slice thickness. These results emphasize the need for accurate patient repositioning, relatively thin slices, for regular quality assurance checks to ensure that pixel size and slice position are correct and stable over time, and that lesion outlining is performed in a consistent fashion. We would recommend the use of a 3D sequence with 1 mm cubic voxels for accurate measurements of MS lesions.  相似文献

In this paper, a family of sub-cell finite volume schemes for solving the hyperbolic conservation laws is proposed and analyzed in one-dimensional cases. The basic idea of this method is to subdivide a control volume (main cell) into several sub-cells and the finite volume discretization is applied to each of the sub-cells. The averaged values on the sub-cells of current and face neighboring main cells are used to reconstruct the polynomial distributions of the dependent variables. This method can achieve arbitrarily high order of accuracy using a compact stencil. It is similar to the spectral volume method incorporating with PNPM technique but with fundamental differences. An elaborate utilization of these differences overcomes some shortcomings of the spectral volume method and results in a family of accurate and robust schemes for solving the hyperbolic conservation laws. In this paper, the basic formulation of the proposed method is presented. The Fourier analysis is performed to study the properties of the one-dimensional schemes. A WENO limiter based on the secondary reconstruction is constructed.  相似文献

First-order conditional moment closure (CMC) modelling of NO in non-premixed flames has met with limited success due to the need to consider turbulence influences on the conditional production rate of chemical species. This paper presents results obtained using a second-order approach where such effects are incorporated through solution of a transport equation for the conditional variance. In contrast to earlier work, second-order chemistry is implemented using a more robust numerical technique, with predictions obtained using a Reynolds stress turbulence model. First-order CMC and k–? turbulence model predictions are presented for comparison purposes. For the hydrogen flames examined, results demonstrate small differences between first- and second-order calculations of major species and temperature, although second-order corrections reduce NO and OH levels. Additionally, variations occur between results for these species derived using the two turbulence models due to differences in conditional variance predictions. This and the numerical solution method employed are responsible for deviations with earlier results. It is concluded that while the higher-order CMC model does not significantly improve NO predictions, agreement with OH data is superior. Physical space predictions are sufficiently accurate for assessing flame characteristics, with the Reynolds stress model providing superior results.  相似文献

We investigated the root mean square (RMS) timing jitter and RMS intensity noise of the wavelength tunable femtosecond soliton pulses using the technique of radio-frequency spectrum analysis. We obtained interesting results that the generated solitons have almost constant RMS timing jitter and RMS intensity noise of approximately 410 fs and 0.03% in the wavelength region of 1600-1750 nm. It is therefore believed that the magnitudes of the jitter and noise are not greatly increased in the process of wavelength tunable soliton pulse generation. The wavelength tunable soliton pulse is confirmed to be stable and useful for practical applications.  相似文献

Aim at the problem that the precision of the past satellite communication terminal system isn't high, designed a system that can provide accurate and standard PPS and timing information for the testing instrument of precision time, used the idea of high-stability GPS system and high-reliability BD system to design a dual-model redundance system, FPGA and DSP are used as a central control core, combined the key technology of undamaged dual-model timing, the placeholder optimization of BNC and optimizing of PPS model, provided a unified time standard for all kinds of ground testing control equipments to ensure the high-precision synchronization on time among testing control equipments. 惯导加速度计在精密离心机上的标校应用试验,涉及精密离心机动态半径和静态半径的精密测量、转速的精确测控以及被校加速度计信号的正确采集与实时传输等操作,需严格控制各类测控仪器的动作时序逻辑实现精密离心机精密测控与加速度计标校应用试验的自动化操作。介绍一种精密离心机测控与加速度计标校应用试验自动化系统设计,硬件上基于LAN总线组网集成精密离心机各类测控仪器,构建分布式测控系统,并应用外部光栅编码器脉冲信号作为触发信号控制测控仪器的硬件时序同步逻辑;软件上应用共享变量技术实现各类测控参数的有序传输,针对动态波形类大数据测试信号的共享变量传输可靠性差问题,提出一种基于文件动态拷贝的网络数据传输方案,设计严格的共享变量传输逻辑机制,实现了各类测控参数正确有序采集与传输。应用试验表明,设计的精密测控与加速度标校应用试验自动化系统满足加速度计在精密离心机上的标校自动化需求,显著提高了加速度计标校应用试验效率。  相似文献

In this paper, the timing jitter in dispersion-managed soliton-like systems with the Gaussian pulse is studied by using two methods. Firstly, the derivation of the dynamic equations for the evolution of soliton-like parameters and the timing jitter expressions for the dispersion-managed soliton-like systems are carried out by the perturbed variational method. By analysing and simulating these timing jitter expressions, one can find that the timing jitter is induced by the amplified spontaneous emission noise and the frequency shift, etc. Nonlinear gain can suppress the timing jitter. The chirp sign and the filters action have also effects on the total timing jitter. Secondly, the timing jitter is calculated and analysed by using the moment method. The results of the two methods prove to be consistent with each other.  相似文献

由圆珠笔油墨形成的契约、合同、收据和借条等可疑文件的真伪及形成时间的鉴定是目前法庭科学实验室经常遇到的问题, 因此建立一种简便、灵敏和准确的检验圆珠笔油墨字迹色痕的异同及形成时间的方法是十分必要的。文章介绍了一种可以检验圆珠笔油墨的种类及形成时间的方法。这种方法是依据高效液相色谱法分析圆珠笔油墨中染料的种类及染料随时间的变化关系来确定圆珠笔油墨字迹的异同及书写时间,染料随时间的变化可以通过相应的色谱峰的峰面积比计算而得。  相似文献
