The applications of SERS in therapeutic drug monitoring, or other fields of analytical chemistry, require the availability of sensitive sensors and experimental approaches that can be implemented in affordable ways. In this contribution, we show the production of cost-effective SERS sensors obtained by depositing Lee-Meisel Ag colloids on filter paper either by natural sedimentation or centrifugation. We have characterized the morphological and plasmonic features of the sensors by optical microscopy, SEM, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Such sensors can be used to quantify by SERS the anti-epileptic drug Perampanel (in the concentration range 1 × 10−4–5 × 10−6 M) by spinning them during the micro-Raman measurements on the top of a custom device obtained from spare part hard disk drives. This approach minimizes laser-induced heating effects and allows averaging over the spatial non-uniformity of the sensor.  相似文献

SERS of pyridine molecules adsorbed on AgCl colloids are recorded. The enhancement origins are discussed by studying the effects of illumination, thiosulfate, hydrogen peroxide and ferricyanide on SERS of pyridine on AgCl colloids. In addition to an important contribution of local field enhancement on photolytic Ag particles in AgCl colloid, the surface Ag+ complexes on AgCl colloids as the SERS-active sites also make an important contribution to SERS of pyridine on AgCl colloid.  相似文献

The fabrication of the photoanode of the n-type CuWO4 nanorod arrays was successfully carried out through electrochemical deposition using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) control templates and for the first time produced distinct gaps between the nanorod arrays. The effectiveness and efficiency of the resulting deposition was shown by the performance of the photoelectrochemical (PEC) procedure with a current density of 1.02 mA cm−2 with irradiation using standard AM 1.5G solar simulator and electron changed radiation of 0.72% with a bias potential of 0.71 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). The gap between each nanorod indicated an optimization of the electrolyte penetration on the interface, which resulted in the expansion of the current density as much as 0.5 × 1024 cm−3 with a flat band potential of 0.14 V vs. Ag/AgCl and also a peak quantum efficiency of wavelength 410 nm. Thus, also indicating the gaps between the nanorod arrays is a promising structure to optimize the performance of the PEC water splitting procedure as a sustainable energy source.  相似文献

Improving the photo-induced charge transfer (PICT) efficiency is the key factor for boosting the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) performance of semiconductor nanomaterials. Introducing plentiful surface defect states in porous ZnO nanosheets (d-ZnO NSs) effectively provides additional charge transfer routes for highly efficient PICT within the substrate–molecule system. Significantly, an interesting phenomenon of low temperature-boosted SERS activity of these d-ZnO NSs is consequently observed. The enhanced SERS activity can be attributed to the efficient PICT processes due to the significant reduction of non-radiative recombination of surface defects at a low temperature. This is carefully investigated through combining in situ low-temperature SERS measurements with temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) emission spectroscopy. Our results clearly demonstrate that the weakened lattice thermal vibration at a low temperature effectively suppresses the phonon-assisted relaxation and reduces carrier traps, resulting in the increase of PL intensity. The decreased traps of photo-induced electrons at surface defect states effectively facilitate the PICT efficiency within the substrate–molecule system. An ultrahigh enhancement factor of 7.7 × 105 and low limit of detection (1 × 10−7 M) for a 4-mercaptopyridine molecule at a temperature of 77 K are successfully obtained. More importantly, the low temperature-enhanced SERS effect is also obtainable in other metal oxide semiconductors, such as d-TiO2 and d-Cu2O nanoparticles. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time the low temperature-boosted SERS activity of semiconductors has been observed. This study not only provides a deep insight into the chemical SERS mechanism, but also develops a novel strategy for improving semiconductor SERS sensitivity. The strong SERS activity at a low temperature reported here may open new avenues for developing non-metal SERS substrates with new functionalities, especially for the research on cryogenic sensing and hypothermal medicine.

The boosted SERS activity is attributed to a high-efficiency PICT process due to the significant reduction of non-radiative recombination at a low temperature.  相似文献

With the assistance of Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), AgCl/Ag composites were fabricated in N, N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) solvent via a photoactivated route. The size of AgCl particles was in the range of 500 nm to 1 μm and the Ag particle's diameter was about 10–20 nm. Different from those core–shell structures reported before, the Ag nanoparticles were dispersed uniformly both on the surface and in the body of AgCl particles. The generation of such kind of composites was resulted from the reducing ability of DMF and light irradiation during the formation of AgCl particles. The as-obtained AgCl/Ag composites presented great activity for both surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) detection and visible light photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes. Additionally, the AgCl/Ag composites could maintain high photocatalytic activity even though the ambient temperature was as low as 15 °C and recycle photocatalysis experiments indicated that the photocatalyst exhibited higher stability. Such kind of AgCl/Ag composites holds great potential for environmental monitoring devices and pollutant treatments.  相似文献

We report a novel strategy for the synthesis of Pt@Au nanorings possessing near-field focusing capabilities at the center through which single-particle surface enhanced Raman scattering could be readily observed. We utilized Pt@Au nanorings as a light-absorber; the absorbed light could be focused at the center with the aid of a Au nanoporous structure. We synthesized the Au nanolens structure through a Galvanic exchange process between Au ions and Ag block at the inner domain of the Pt@Au nanoring. For this step, Ag was selectively pre-deposited at the inner domain of the Pt@Au nanorings through electrochemical potential-tuned growth control and different surface energies with regard to the inner and outer boundaries of the nanoring. Then, the central nanoporous architecture was fabricated through the Galvanic exchange of sacrificial Ag with Au ions leading to the resulting Au nanoring with a Au nanoporous structure at the center. We monitored the shape-transformation by observing their corresponding localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) profiles. By varying the rim thickness of the starting Pt@Au nanorings, the inner diameter of the nanolens was accordingly tuned to maximize near-field focusing, which enabled us to obtain the reproducible and light-polarization independent measurements of single-particle SERS. Through theoretical simulation, the near-field electromagnetic field focusing capability was visualized and confirmed through single-particle SERS measurement showing an enhancement factor of 1.9 × 108 to 1.0 × 109.

We synthesized a Au nanolens with electromagnetic near-field focusing capability by integrating a Au nanoporous structure at the center of the Pt@Au nanoring via synthetic steps of eccentric growth of Ag and nanoscale Galvanic exchange reaction.  相似文献

In this study, time-dependent, one-dimensional modeling of a surface dielectric barrier discharge (SDBD) device, driven by a sinusoidal voltage of amplitude 1–3 kV at 20 kHz, in argon is described. An SDBD device with two Cu-stripe electrodes, covered by the quartz dielectric and with the discharge gap of 20 × 10−3 m, was assumed, and the time-dependent, one-dimensional discharge parameters were simulated versus time across the plasma gap. The plasma device simulated in the given arrangement was constructed and used for biocompatible antibacterial/antimicrobial coating of plasmonic particle aerosol and compared with the coating strategy of the DBD plasma jet. Simulation results showed discharge consists of an electrical breakdown, occurring in each half-cycle of the AC voltage with an electron density of 1.4 × 1010 cm−3 and electric field strength of 4.5 × 105 Vm−1. With SDBD, the surface coating comprises spatially distributed particles of mean size 29 (11) nm, while with argon plasma jet, the nanoparticles are aggregated in clusters that are three times larger in size. Both coatings are crystalline and exhibit plasmonic features in the visible spectral region. It is expected that the particle aerosols are collected under the ionic wind, induced by the plasma electric fields, and it is assumed that this follows the dominant charging mechanisms of ions diffusion. The cold plasma strategy is appealing in a sense; it opens new venues at the nanoscale to deal with biomedical and surgical devices in a flexible processing environment.  相似文献

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) was measured for meso-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphine (TSPP) and its metal derivatives Ag(II)TSPP and Pb(II)TSPP adsorbed on AgI colloids, and for TSPP adsorbed on AgCl colloids. The experiments show that TSPP molecules adsorbed on AgI colloids undergo a silver incorporation, while TSPP adsorbed on AgCl colloids are converted into the porphyrin diacid H4TSPP2+ and the metalloporphyrin Ag(II)TSPP. The concentration dependences of SERS spectra for TSPP adsorbed on the two substrates are quite different.  相似文献

Colloidal lithography is an efficient and low-cost method to prepare an ordered nanostructure array with new shapes and properties. In this study, square-shaped and cone-shaped Au nanostructures were obtained by 70° angle deposition onto polystyrene bead array with the diameter of 500 nm when a space of 120 nm is created between the neighbor beads by plasma etching. The gaps between the units decrease when the Au deposition time increases, which leads to the polarized enhanced local field, in agreement with the surface-enhanced Raman scattering spectra (SERS) observations and finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations. When the Au deposition time increased to 5 min, 5 nm gaps form between the neighbor units, which gave an enhancement factor of 5 × 109. The SERS chip was decorated for the detection of the liver cancer cell marker Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) with the detection limit down to 5 pg/mL.  相似文献

Graphene/noble metal substrates for surface enhanced RAMAN scattering (SERS) possess synergistically improved performance, due to the strong chemical enhancement mechanism accounted to graphene and the electromagnetic mechanism raised from the metal nanoparticles. However, only the effect of noble metal nanoparticles characteristics on the SERS performance was studied so far. In attempts to bring a light to the effect of quality of graphene, in this work, two different graphene oxides were selected, slightly oxidized GOS (20%) with low aspect ratio (1000) and highly oxidized (50%) GOG with high aspect ratio (14,000). GO and precursors for noble metal nanoparticles (NP) simultaneous were reduced, resulting in rGO decorated with AgNPs and AuNPs. The graphene characteristics affected the size, shape, and packing of nanoparticles. The oxygen functionalities actuated as nucleation sites for AgNPs, thus GOG was decorated with higher number and smaller size AgNPs than GOS. Oppositely, AuNPs preferred bare graphene surface, thus GOS was covered with smaller size, densely packed nanoparticles, resulting in the best SERS performance. Fluorescein in concentration of 10−7 M was detected with enhancement factor of 82 × 104. This work demonstrates that selection of graphene is additional tool toward powerful SERS substrates.  相似文献

An analytical procedure regarding the determination of selenium(IV) by anodic stripping voltammetry exploiting the in situ plated bismuth film electrode is described. Since organics are commonly present in untreated natural water samples, the use of Amberlite XAD-7 resin turns out to be quite important to avoid problems such as the adsorption of these compounds on the working electrode. The optimum circumstances for the detection of selenium in water using differential pulse voltammetry techniques were found to be as follows: 0.1 mol L−1 acetic acid, 1.9 × 10−5 mol L−1 Bi(III), 0.1 g Amberlite XAD-7 resin, and successive potentials of −1.6 V for 5 s and −0.4 V for 60 s, during which the in situ formation of the bismuth film on glassy carbon and the accumulation of selenium took place. The current of the anodic peak varies linearly with the selenium concentration ranging from 3 × 10−9 mol L−1 to 3 × 10−6 mol L−1 (r = 0.9995), with a detection limit of 8 × 10−10 mol L−1. The proposed procedure was used for Se(IV) determination in certified reference materials and natural water samples, and acceptable results and recoveries were obtained.  相似文献

Because Ag and Au nanoparticles (NPs) possess well-defined localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) they are popularly employed in the studies of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). As shown in the literature and in our previous studies, the advantage of SERS-active Ag NPs is their higher SERS enhancement over Au NPs. On the other hand, the disadvantage of SERS-active Ag NPs compared to Au NPs is their serious decay of SERS enhancement in ambient laboratory air. In this work, we develop a new strategy for preparing highly SERS-active Ag NPs deposited on a roughened Au substrate. This strategy is derived from the modification of electrochemical underpotential deposition (UPD) of metals. The coverage of Ag NPs on the roughened Au substrate can be as high as 0.95. Experimental results indicate that the SERS of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) observed on this developed substrate exhibits a higher intensity by ca. 50-fold of magnitude, as compared with that of R6G observed on the substrate without the deposition of Ag NPs. The limit of detection (LOD) for R6G measured on this substrate is markedly reduced to 2 × 10−15 M. Moreover, aging of SERS effect observed on this developed substrate is significantly depressed, as compared with that observed on a generally prepared SERS-active Ag substrate. These aging tests were performed in an atmosphere of 50% relative humidity (RH) and 20% (v/v) O2 at 30 °C for 60 day. Also, the developed SERS-active substrate enables it practically applicable in the trace detection of monosodium urate (MSU)-containing solution in gouty arthritis without a further purification process.  相似文献

In this work, the effects of preparation conditions used in roughening silver substrates by electrochemical triangular-wave oxidation-reduction cycles (ORC) on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) were first investigated. The optimum roughening conditions for obtaining strongest SERS of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) are as follows. Ag electrodes were cycled in deoxygenated aqueous solutions containing 0.1 M NaCl from −0.3 to +0.2 V versus Ag/AgCl at 25 mV s−1 for five scans. The SERS of R6G adsorbed on this optimum procedure-prepared roughened Ag substrate exhibits a higher intensity by one order of magnitude, as compared with that of R6G adsorbed on a normally roughened Ag substrate.  相似文献

Oligonucleotide-modified nanoparticle conjugates show highly promising potential for SERS-based DNA detection. However, it remains challenging to carry out the SERS-based DNA detection in aqueous solutions directly using oligonucleotide-modified nanoparticles, because the Raman reporters would exhibit lower signals when they are dispersed in aqueous solutions than laid on “dry” metal nanoparticles. Here, we synthesized stable oligonucleotide-modified Ag nanoprism conjugates, and performed SERS-based DNA detection in aqueous solution directly by using such conjugates in combination with Raman reporter-labeled, oligonucleotide-modified gold nanoparticles. The experimental results indicate that this SERS-based DNA detection approach exhibited a good linear correlation between SERS signal intensity and the logarithm of target DNA concentration ranging from 10?11~10?8 M. This sensitivity is comparable to those SERS-based DNA detection approaches with the “dry” process. Additionally, a similar correlation could also be observed in duplex target DNA detection by SERS hybrid probes. Our results suggest that the oligonucleotide-modified Ag nanoprisms may be developed as a powerful SERS-based DNA detection tool.

We report a new simple method to fabricate a highly active SERS substrate consisting of poly‐m‐phenylenediamine/polyacrylonitrile (PmPD/PAN) decorated with Ag nanoplates. The formation mechanism of Ag nanoplates is investigated. The synthetic process of the Ag nanoplate‐decorated PmPD/PAN (Ag nanoplates@PmPD/PAN) nanofiber mats consists of the assembly of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of PmPD/PAN nanofibers as crystal nuclei followed by in situ growth of Ag nanoparticles exclusively into nanoplates. Both the reducibility of the polymer and the concentration of AgNO3 are found to play important roles in the formation and the density of Ag nanoplates. The optimized Ag nanoplates@PmPD/PAN nanofiber mats exhibit excellent activity and reproducibility in surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) detection of 4‐mercaptobenzoic acid (4‐MBA) with a detection limit of 10?10 m , making the Ag nanoplates@PmPD/PAN nanofiber mats a promising substrate for SERS detection of chemical molecules. In addition, this work also provides a design and fabrication process for a 3D SERS substrate made of a reducible polymer with noble metals.  相似文献

Analytical limitations have constrained the determination of nanopollution character from real-world sources such as nano-enabled products (NEPs), thus hindering the development of environmental safety guidelines for engineered nanomaterials (ENMs). This study examined the properties of ENMs in 18 commercial products: sunscreens, personal care products, clothing, and paints—products exhibiting medium to a high potential for environmental nanopollution. It was found that 17 of the products contained ENMs; 9, 3, 3, and 2 were incorporated with nTiO2, nAg, binaries of nZnO + nTiO2, and nTiO2 + nAg, respectively. Commonly, the nTiO2 were elongated or angular, whereas nAg and nZnO were near-spherical and angular in morphology, respectively. The size ranges (width × length) were 7–48 × 14–200, 34–35 × 37–38, and 18–28 nm for nTiO2, nZnO, and nAg respectively. All ENMs were negatively charged. The total concentration of Ti, Zn, and Ag in the NEPs were 2.3 × 10−4–4.3%, 3.4–4.3%, and 1.0 × 10−4–11.3 × 10−3%, respectively. The study determined some key ENM characteristics required for environmental risk assessment; however, challenges persist regarding the accurate determination of the concentration in NEPs. Overall, the study confirmed NEPs as actual sources of nanopollution; hence, scenario-specific efforts are recommended to quantify their loads into water resources.  相似文献

A novel method to deposit a highly surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) active silver film onto the inside surface of a glass capillary is developed. Firstly, Ag sol was synthesized by the reaction of AgNO3 with poly-(ethylenimine) (PEI), and then toluene and benzenethiol (BT) were added into the sol. The mixture was flowed through the glass capillary to obtain the SERS-active Ag film-coated glass capillary. The SERS activity of the Ag-coated capillary was dependent on the amount of PEI and BT used. In addition, BT could be easily desorbed from the Ag surface by treating it with a borohydride solution, maintaining the initial SERS activity. The SERS enhancement factor at 632.8-nm excitation was estimated to be on the order of 106. The detection limits of adenine and dipicolinic acid were then as low as 1.0 × 10−8 and 1.0 × 10−7 M, respectively, based on an S/N ratio of 3. This clearly suggests that the Ag-coated capillary is an invaluable device for the analysis of effluent chemicals by SERS.  相似文献

Coinage metal(I)···metal(I) interactions are widely of interest in fields such as supramolecular assembly and unique luminescent properties, etc. Only two types of polynuclear silver(I) pyrazolato complexes have been reported, however, and no detailed spectroscopic characterizations have been reported. An unexpected synthetic method yielded a polynuclear silver(I) complex [Ag(μ-L1Clpz)]n (L1Clpz = 4-chloride-3,5-diisopropyl-1-pyrazolate anion) by the reaction of {[Ag(μ-L1Clpz)]3}2 with (nBu4N)[Ag(CN)2]. The obtained structure was compared with the known hexanuclear silver(I) complex {[Ag(μ-L1Clpz)]3}2. The Ag···Ag distances in [Ag(μ-L1Clpz)]n are slightly shorter than twice Bondi’s van der Waals radius, indicating some Ag···Ag argentophilic interactions. Two Ag–N distances in [Ag(μ-L1Clpz)]n were found: 2.0760(13) and 2.0716(13) Å, and their N–Ag–N bond angles of 180.00(7)° and 179.83(5)° indicate that each silver(I) ion is coordinated by two pyrazolyl nitrogen atoms with an almost linear coordination. Every five pyrazoles point in the same direction to form a 1-D zig-zag structure. Some spectroscopic properties of [Ag(μ-L1Clpz)]n in the solid-state are different from those of {[Ag(μ-L1Clpz)]3}2 (especially in the absorption and emission spectra), presumably attributable to this zig-zag structure having longer but differently arranged intramolecular Ag···Ag interactions of 3.39171(17) Å. This result clearly demonstrates the different physicochemical properties in the solid-state between 1-D coordination polymer and metalacyclic trinuclear (hexanuclear) or tetranuclear silver(I) pyrazolate complexes.  相似文献

Initiator caspases are important components of cellular apoptotic signaling and they can activate effector caspases in extrinsic and intrinsic apoptotic pathways. The simultaneous detection of multiple initiator caspases is essential for apoptosis mechanism studies and disease therapy. Herein, we develop a sensitive nanosensor based on the integration of exonuclease III (Exo III)-powered three-dimensional (3D) DNA walker with single-molecule detection for the simultaneous measurement of initiator caspase-8 and caspase-9. This assay involves two peptide–DNA detection probe-conjugated magnetic beads and two signal probe-conjugated gold nanoparticles (signal probes@AuNPs). The presence of caspase-8 and caspase-9 can induce the cleavage of peptides in two peptide–DNA detection probes, releasing two trigger DNAs from the magnetic beads, respectively. The two trigger DNAs can serve as the walker DNA to walk on the surface of the signal probes@AuNPs powered by Exo III digestion, liberating numerous Cy5 and Texas Red fluorophores which can be quantified by single-molecule detection, with Cy5 indicating caspase-8 and Texas Red indicating caspase-9. Notably, the introduction of the AuNP-based 3D DNA walker greatly reduces the background signal and amplifies the output signals, and the introduction of single-molecule detection further improves the detection sensitivity. This nanosensor is very sensitive with a detection limit of 2.08 × 10−6 U μL−1 for caspase-8 and 1.71 × 10−6 U μL−1 for caspase-9, and it can be used for the simultaneous screening of caspase inhibitors and the measurement of endogenous caspase activity in various cell lines at the single-cell level. Moreover, this nanosensor can be extended to detect various proteases by simply changing the peptide sequences of the detection probes.

We demonstrate the simultaneous detection of multiple initiator caspases by integrating exonuclease III-powered three-dimensional DNA walker with single-molecule detection.  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) and silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) sequentially decorated nitrogen‐doped titania nanotube array (N‐TiO2 NTA) had been designed as visible‐light‐driven self‐cleaning surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for a recyclable SERS detection application. N‐TiO2 NTA was fabricated by anodic oxidation and then doping nitrogen treatment in ammonia atmosphere, acting as a visible‐light‐driven photocatalyst and supporting substrate. Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA was prepared by decorating GO monolayer through an impregnation process and then depositing Ag NPs through a polyol process on the surface of N‐TiO2 NTA, acting as the collection of organic molecule and Raman enhancement. The SERS activity of Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA was evaluated using methyl blue as an organic probe molecule, revealing the analytical enhancement factor of 4.54 × 104. Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA was applied as active SERS substrate to determine a low‐affinity organic pollutant of bisphenol A, revealing the detection limit of as low as 5 × 10?7 m . Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA could also achieve self‐cleaning function for a recycling utilization through visible‐light‐driven photocatalytic degradation of the adsorbed organic molecules. Ag/GO/N‐TiO2 NTA has been successfully reused for five times without an obvious decay in accuracy and sensitivity for organic molecule detection. The unique properties of this SERS substrate enable it to have a promising application for the sensitive and recyclable SERS detection of low‐affinity organic molecules.
