Peroxide-cured isoprene rubber with various amounts of stearic acid and N-isopropyl-N-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (i-PPD) was prepared. Processability, cure and dynamic mechanical properties of compounds were investigated. It has been found that stearic acid affects only the uncured compounds in terms of processability by acting as a lubricant, and plays no significant role in curing and dynamic mechanical properties. By contrast, i-PPD as an amine-based antioxidant shows pronounced effect on processability, cure and dynamic mechanical properties. The addition of i-PPD up to 2 phr could increase Mooney viscosity due to a thermal stabilization during high shear mixing. Exceeding this concentration, i-PPD shows plasticizing effect leading to a decrease in Mooney viscosity. Additionally, it has been shown that the addition of i-PPD reduces the crosslink density affecting remarkably the dynamic mechanical properties of compounds.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine effects of a catalyst of Nickel-imidazole, i.e. Im6NiBr2 on the cure reaction and network properties of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. DSC and FT-IR measurements are carried out on the epoxy resin loaded with 5, 15, and 30 phr of nickel salt to get some insights into the storage stability. It has been concluded that the storage stability has mainly depended on the epoxy composition and was the lowest for the highest level of curing agent. Kinetics of the cure has been described by applying iso-conversional method of Ozawa to scanning DSC data demonstrating that the studied cure reaction is autocatalytic in nature. The Kamal phenomenological approach has been utilized to fit the experimental isothermal DSC data. The model showed a satisfactory fitting of the experimental results at either early stages or at the final steps of the studied cure reaction. Further, the model did not provide a reasonable fitting in the propagation step of polymerization, 0.3 < α < 0.5, possibly due to existence of the additional reaction/s which did not consider in the used model. DMTA is used to find the optimum cure schedule. It has been shown that the sample with a postcure treatment offers the highest value of glass transition temperature (Tg) in the tan δ peak. SEM and X-ray analyses are employed to investigate the fracture surface morphology and to understand the distribution of nickel in the cured samples exhibiting that the nickel is scattered in the continuous phase homogenously. Flexural properties of the sample cured at optimum conditions are also determined.  相似文献

In order to study the relationship between structure and properties, multiblock copolymers composed of poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) and poly (1,2-propylene succinate) (PPSu) have been synthesized by chain-extension at various molar ratios of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) to polyester-diols, which have been abbreviated as R-values in this paper. Molecular weights of soluble fractions, gel fractions and crosslink densities have been determined. Thermal properties, mechanical properties and biodegradability have been studied and correlated with R-values. Crystallization of copolymers becomes difficult with increasing R-value. Tensile strength, flexural strength and flexural modulus tend to increase with increasing R-value up to 1.2, and vary little when R-value increases from 1.2 to 1.3, then decrease with further increase in R-value. Impact strength achieves a maximum value at R-value of 1.3. Biodegradation rate reaches a minimum value when R-value is 1.1. Biodegradation has been studied systematically by attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR), 1H NMR and SEM.  相似文献

The structural, mechanical, electronic, and thermodynamic properties of pure W metal under different pressures have been investigated using the first-principles method. Our calculated structural parameters are in good agreement with experimental and previous theoretical results. The obtained elastic constants show that pure W metal is mechanically stable. Elastic properties such as the bulk modulus (B), shear modulus (G), Young's modulus (E), Poisson's ratio (ν), Cauchy pressure (C′), and anisotropy coefficients (A) are calculated by the Voigt-Reuss-Hill method. The results show that the pressure can improve the strength of pure tungsten and has little effect on the ductility. In addition, the total density of states as a function of pressure is analyzed. Thermodynamic properties such as the Debye temperature, phonon dispersion spectrum, free energy, entropy, enthalpy, and heat capacity are also discussed.  相似文献

Curcuma root (Curcuma longa L.) is a very important plant in gastronomy and medicine for its unique antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Conventional methods for the extraction of curcuma oil require long extraction times and high temperatures that can degrade the active substances. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were: (i) first, to optimize the extraction yield of curcuma oil by applying a Box-Behnken experimental design using surface response methodology to the microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) technique (the independent variables studied were reaction time (10–30 min), microwave power (150–200 W) and curcuma powder/ethanol ratio (1:5–1:20; w/v); and, (ii) second, to assess the total phenolic content (TPC) and their antioxidant activity of the oil (at the optimum conditions point) and compare with the conventional Soxhlet technique. The optimum conditions for the MAE were found to be 29.99 min, 160 W and 1:20 w/v to obtain an optimum yield of 10.32%. Interestingly, the oil extracted by microwave-assisted extraction showed higher TPC and better antioxidant properties than the oil extracted with conventional Soxhlet technique. Thus, it was demonstrated that the method applied for extraction influences the final properties of the extracted Curcuma longa L. oil.  相似文献

A detailed theoretical study of structural, electronic, elastic, thermodynamic and optical properties of rutile type MgF2 has been carried out by means of first-principles Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations using plane wave pseudo-potentials within the local density approximation and generalized-gradient approximation for the exchange and correlation functionals. The calculated ground state properties and elastic constants agree quite well with experimental values. From the calculated elastic constants we conclude that MgF2 is relatively hard when compared to other alkaline-earth fluorides and ductile in nature. The thermodynamic properties such as heat capacity, entropy, free energy, phonon density of states and Debye temperatures are calculated at various temperatures from the lattice dynamical data obtained through the quasi-harmonic Debye model. From free energy and entropy it is found that the system is thermodynamically stable up to 1200 K. The imaginary part of the calculated dielectric function ε2(ω) could reproduce the six prominent peaks which are observed in experiment. From the calculated ε(ω), other optical properties such as refractive index, reflectivity and electron energy-loss spectrum are obtained up to the photon energy range of 30 eV.  相似文献

Nanoparticles (NPs) have been developed as vehicles for delivering a variety of payloads including small molecules, nucleic acids, and proteins. To overcome the non-specific biodistribution of nanomaterials and target specific sites in vivo, there has been a surge of interest in using autologous cells as NP carriers. To design cell– NP constructs for active targeting, an understanding of the physicochemical interactions that underline NP adhesion, detachment, and uptake is necessary. In this article, we critically analyze the various properties that affect cell–nanomaterial interactions. We describe how physical properties of the cellular plasma membrane such as curvature, membrane tension, and lipid composition affect the attachment of NPs. We discuss the effect of NP properties including size, shape, stiffness, and chemical composition as well as the environmental conditions on the cell–NP interactions. We conclude with an overview of recent applications of cell–NP constructs including cellular hitchhiking, backpacking, and responsive surface attachment for drug delivery.  相似文献

Palytoxin (PTX) has been widely studied owing to its outstanding toxic properties and complex structural features. It is a great challenge to identify and isolate analogues of PTX from various organisms and reveal their physiological activities. We previously reported the isolation of PTX as an insecticidal compound from the red alga, Chondria armata. In this study, we investigate another active compound from C. armata, which has similar toxicity and chromatographic behavior as PTX. Our detailed structural analysis reveals that this compound is palytoxin carboxylic acid. We characterized its physicochemical properties and conducted extensive NMR studies. This analogue has a structure devoid of the terminus of PTX, such that its presence in the alga implies the role of symbiotic microorganisms in marine ecosystems.  相似文献

The incorporation of natural fillers such as seaweed may potentially enhance the properties of biopolymer films. In this study, we investigated the effect of seaweed powder as a bio-filler in alginate-based films at different concentrations (10, 30, and 50%, w/w alginate) and particle sizes (100 and 200 μm) on the mechanical, barrier, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties of alginate which are essential for food packaging applications. Initially, mechanical properties of the alginate films prepared at different temperatures were evaluated to find the optimal temperature for preparing alginate solution. The addition of seaweed powder did not have any positive effect on the mechanical properties of the alginate films. However, the barrier (water vapor transmission rate) and antioxidant properties were improved with the addition of seaweed filler regardless of concentration. In addition, selected films were prepared in plasma-activated water (PAW). The mechanical properties (tensile strength, but not elongation at break) of the films prepared with PAW improved compared to the films prepared in distilled water, while a significant decrease was observed when incorporated with the seaweed filler. The films prepared in PAW also showed improved barrier properties compared to those prepared in distilled water. The antimicrobial activity of the alginate-seaweed film-forming solution was in general more pronounced when prepared with PAW and stored at 10 °C, particularly at the highest concentration of the film-forming solution (83.3% v/v). A more pronounced inhibitory effect was observed on the Gram-positive S. aureus than on the Gram-negative E. coli, which has been attributed to the different composition and structure of the respective cell walls. This study has demonstrated the potential of seaweed filler in combination with PAW towards enhanced functionality and bioactivity of alginate films for potential food packaging applications.  相似文献

Conventional cancer treatments have shown several unfavourable adverse effects, as well as an increase in anticancer drug resistance, which worsens the impending cancer therapy. Thus, the emphasis is currently en route for natural products. There is currently great interest in the natural bioactive components from medicinal plants possessing anticancer characteristics. For example, clove (Syzygium aromaticum L.) (Family Myrtaceae) is a highly prized spice that has been historically utilized as a food preservative and for diverse medical uses. It is reckoned amongst the valued sources of phenolics. It is indigenous to Indonesia but currently is cultivated in various places of the world. Among diverse active components, eugenol, the principal active component of S. aromaticum, has optimistic properties comprising antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer actions. Eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol) is a musky oil that is mainly obtained from clove. It has long been utilized all over the world as a result of its broad properties like antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial activities. Eugenol continues to pique investigators’ interest because of its multidirectional activities, which suggests it could be used in medications to treat different ailments. Anticancer effects of eugenol are accomplished by various mechanisms like inducing cell death, cell cycle arrest, inhibition of migration, metastasis, and angiogenesis on several cancer cell lines. Besides, eugenol might be utilized as an adjunct remedy for patients who are treated with conventional chemotherapy. This combination leads to a boosted effectiveness with decreased toxicity. The present review focuses on the anticancer properties of eugenol to treat several cancer types and their possible mechanisms.  相似文献

Moringa oleifera leaf powder (MOLP) is a rich source of antioxidants, protein, minerals, vitamins, and various phytochemicals and has been used to combat malnutrition in many countries. However, despite its many benefits, MOLP has low a solubility in water, necessitating the development of ways to address this issue. To improve the solubility of MOLP, solid-dispersed Moringa oleifera leaf powders (SDMOLPs) have been developed through freeze-drying, melting, microwave irradiation, and solvent evaporation methods using polyethylene glycols (PEG4000 and PEG6000) (1:1) as hydrophilic carriers. The solid dispersions were evaluated for their proximate composition using standard analytical procedures. Elemental composition was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Water absorption capacity (WAC) and water-solubility were further evaluated as functional properties. Proximate composition revealed that MOLP and SDMOLPs were rich in protein, energy, carbohydrate, ash, and fat contents. MOLP solid dispersions are a major source of minerals (Ca, Mg, Cu, and Zn), and can be used to alleviate many mineral deficiencies. All solid dispersions had significantly higher (p < 0.05) solubilities (ranging from 54 to 64%) and WAC (ranging from 468.86 to 686.37%), relative to that of pure MOLP. The increased solubility of SDMOLPs may be attributed to the hydrogen bonds and intermolecular interactions between MOLP and the hydrophilic carriers. The results indicate that the solid dispersion technique can be successfully employed to improve the solubility of MOLP. And the solid-dispersed MOLPs with enhanced functional properties may be useful as functional ingredients in foods and beverages, dietary supplements, or nutraceutical formulations.  相似文献

Pentacene has been actively studied as relevant materials in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, the low solubility and low stability of pentacene in common organic solvents have hindered its applications. When exposed to light or at high concentration, pentacene is found to dimerize easily. Many research groups are currently working on the design and synthesis of novel substituted pentacenes, but few of them systematically reported physical properties such as molecular spectroscopy and electronic properties, which might elucidate the influence of substituents on HOMO-LUMO gaps. Furthermore, the reactive nature of the central ring in pentacenes makes pentacenes good dienes for Diels-Alder reactions. In this paper, a series of soluble 6,13-disubstituted 2,3,9,10-tetrakis(trimethylsilyl)pentacenes were synthesized and characterized. Their reactions, structures, and physical properties were also studied. In addition, bulky o-carboranyl substituted pentacene derivative 15 and 6-chloro-2,3,9,10-tetrakis(trimethylsilyl)pentacene (16) were synthesized for the first time. Compound 16 possesses the largest dihedral angle (7.7° with two adjacent benzene rings) and shows a wave structure. Diels-Alder reactions with acceptable efficiency were carried out between 16 and various dienophiles.  相似文献

Copolymers with two distinguished reactive repeating units are of great interest, as such copolymers might open the possibility of obtaining selective and/or consequent copolymers with different chemical structures and properties. In the present work, copolymers based on two active esters (pentafluorophenyl methacrylate and p-nitrophenyl methacrylate) with varied compositions were synthesized by Cu(0)-mediated reversible deactivation radical polymerization. This polymerization technique allows the preparation of copolymers with high to quantitative conversion of both comonomers, with moderate control over dispersity (Đ = 1.3–1.7). Additionally, by in-depth study on the composition of each copolymer by various techniques including elemental analysis, NMR, FT-IR, and XPS, it was possible to confirm the coherence between expected and obtained composition. Thermal analyses by DSC and TGA were implemented to investigate the relation between copolymers’ composition and their thermal properties. Finally, an evaluation of the difference in reactivity of the two monomer moieties was confirmed by post-modification of copolymers with a primary amine and a primary alcohol as the model.  相似文献
