The aim of this work is to study the transmission of stress waves in an impulsively forced semi-infinite repetitive system of linear layers which are coupled by means of strongly nonlinear coupling elements. Only primary pulse transmission and reflection at each nonlinear element is considered. This permits the reduction of the problem to an infinite set of first-order strongly nonlinear ordinary differential equations. A subset of these equations is solved both analytically and numerically. For a system possessing clearance nonlinearities it is found that the primary transmitted pulse propagates to only a finite number of layers, and that further transmission of energy to additional layers can occur only through time-delayed secondary pulses or does not occur at all. Hence, clearance nonlinearities in a periodic layered system can lead to energy entrapment in the leading layers. An alternative continuum approximation methodology is also outlined which reduces the problem of primary pulse transmission to the solution of a single strongly nonlinear partial differential equation. The use of the continuum approximation for studying maximum primary pulse penetration in the system with clearance nonlinearities is discussed.  相似文献

The problem of self-switching plane waves in elastic nonlinearly deformed materials is formulated. Reduced and evolution equations, which describe the interaction of two waves the power pumping wave and the faint signal wave are obtained. For the case of wave numbers matching the pumping and signal waves, a procedure of finding the exact solution of evolution equations is described. The existence conditions for surface and normal shear waves in finite and infinite periodically laminated structures with broken translational symmetry are studied theoretically and numerically. The problems posed are reduced to systems of linear algebraic equations. The existence condition for their nontrivial solutions yield dispersion relations. Conditions for the existence of surface and normal shear waves are established. Some results are plotted. Plane Problem of Surface Wave Diffraction on a Floating Elastic Plate   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
The problem of the behavior of a floating elastic strip-shaped plate in waves is considered. A new numerical method for solving this problem based on the Wiener-Hopf technique is proposed. The solution of the boundary value problem is reduced to an infinite system of linear algebraic equations which satisfies the reduction conditions. The calculation results are compared both with experiment and with the calculations of other authors. In the case of short incident waves the system of equations obtained can be essentially simplified. Three short-wave approximations are proposed, namely, the single-mode, four-mode and uniform approximations, which ensure good agreement with calculations based on the complete model. Simple explicit formulas are obtained for the single-mode and uniform approximations.  相似文献

This paper studies nonlinear waves in a prestretched cylinder composed of a Blatz-Ko material. Starting from the three-dimensional field equations, two coupled PDEs for modeling weakly nonlinear long waves are derived by using the method of coupled series and asymptotic expansions. Comparing with some other existing models in literature, an important feature of these equations is that they are consistent with traction-free surface conditions asymptotically. Also, the material nonlinearity is kept to the third order. As these two PDEs are quite complicated, the attention is focused on traveling waves, for which a first-order system of ODEs are obtained. We use the technique of dynamical systems to carry out the analysis. It turns out that the system is three parameters (the prestretch, the propagating speed and an integration constant) dependent and there are totally seven types of phase planes which contain trajectories representing bounded traveling waves. The parametric conditions for each phase plane are established. A variety of solitary and periodic waves are found. An important finding is that kink waves can propagate in a Blatz-Ko cylinder. We also find that one type of periodic waves has an interesting feature in the profile slope. Analytical expressions for all bounded traveling waves are obtained.  相似文献

Mild-slope (MS) type equations are depth-integrated models, which predict under appropriate conditions refraction and diffraction of linear time-harmonic water waves. By using a streamfunction formulation instead of a velocity potential one, the complementary mild-slope equation (CMSE) was shown to give better agreement with exact linear theory compared to other MS-type equations. The main goal of this work is to extend the CMSE model for solving two-layer flow with a free-surface. In order to allow for an exact reference, an analytical solution for a two-layer fluid over a sloping plane beach is derived. This analytical solution is used for validating the results of the approximated MS-type models. It is found that the two-layer CMSE model performs better than the potential based one. In addition, the new model is used for investigating the scattering of linear surface water waves and interfacial ones over variable bathymetry.  相似文献

This paper considers, in the frame work of the model of two superposed layers of viscous-potential incompressible magnetic fluids, the problem on formation of resonant waves of two modes on the interface between fluids that arisen as a result of second-harmonic resonance. The fluids moving with uniform velocities parallel to their interface are stressed by a tangential magnetic field. The analysis includes the linear, as well as the non-linear effects where the analytical solutions are constructed using the method of multiple scales, in both space and time, and hence the solvability conditions correspond to the uniform (convergent) solutions are obtained. The solvability conditions are then exploited to derive a more general system of non-linear partial differential equations with complex coefficients governing the amplitudes of the resonant waves. These equations are examined for solutions corresponding to sinusoidal wavetrains consequently different kinds of instabilities are demonstrated. The stability criterion in each case is derived and discussed both analytically and graphically.  相似文献

The work concerns cnoidal and solitary wave solutions of the Boussinesq equations in the context of finite difference methods. The existence of permanent wave-forms is discussed and approximate solutions are found for one particular discrete formulation by perturbation techniques. These techniques can be applied to most difference and regular element discretizations of equations describing weakly non-linear and dispersive waves. No proof of convergence of the perturbation expansions is established, but the appropriateness of the solutions is confirmed through comparison with the results of computer simulations. From the perturbation series it is found that the phase speed of solitons is useless for the evaluation of numerical methods and that asymmetries in the discrete equations may ruin the soliton solution. The availability of a discrete closed-form solution is especially important for discussions concerning the existence and accuracy of permanent wave-forms with oblique orientations relative to the grid.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a dissipative-dispersive nonlinear equation appliable to many physical phenomena. Using the geometric singular perturbation method based on the theory of dynamical systems, we investigate the existence of its traveling wave solutions with the dissipative terms having sufficiently small coefficients. The results show that the traveling waves exist on a two-dimensional slow manifold in a three-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Then, we use the Melnikov method to establish the existence of a homoclinic orbit in this manifold corresponding to a solitary wave solution of the equation. Furthermore, we present some numerical computations to show the approximations of such wave orbits.  相似文献

In the present work, we study the propagation of non-linear waves in an initially stressed thin elastic tube filled with an inviscid fluid. Considering the physiological conditions of the arteries, in the analysis, the tube is assumed to be subjected to a uniform inner pressure P0 and an axial stretch ratio λz. It is assumed that due to blood flow, a finite dynamical displacement field is superimposed on this static field and, then, the non-linear governing equations of the elastic tube are obtained. Using the reductive perturbation technique, the propagation of weakly non-linear waves in the longwave approximation is investigated. It is shown that the governing equations reduce to the Korteweg-deVries equation which admits a solitary wave solution. It is observed that the present model equations give two solitary wave solutions. The results are also discussed for some elastic materials existing in the literature.  相似文献

We investigate the existence of traveling wave solutions for a system of reaction–diffusion equations that has been used as a model for microbial growth in a flow reactor and for the diffusive epidemic population. The existence of traveling waves was conjectured early but only has been proved recently for sufficiently small diffusion coefficient by the singular perturbation technique. In this paper we show the existence of traveling waves for an arbitrary diffusion coefficient. With the advent of left-handed magnetic materials, it is desirable to develop high-performance wave devices based on their novel properties of wave propagation. This letter reports the special properties of elastic wave propagation in magnetoelastic multilayered composites with negative permeability as comparecd to those in counterpart structures with positlve permeability. These novel properties of elastic waves are discerned from the diversified dispersion curves, which represent the propagation and attenuation characteristics of elastic waves. To compute these dispersion curves, the method of reverberation-ray matrix is extended for the analysis of elastic waves in magnctoelastic multilayered composites. Although only the results of a single piezomagnetic and a binary magnetoelastic layers with mechanically free and magnetically short surfaces as well as pelrfect interface are illustrated in the numerical examples, the analysis is applicable lo magnetoelastic multilayered structures with other kinds of boundaries/interfaces.  相似文献

导出了三维扰动波的原始变量形式的抛物化稳定性方程(PSE),研究了三维空间模态TS波的非平行边界层稳定性问题.采用了法向四阶紧致格式,以提高计算精度.通过给出不会导致奇性的坐标变换、修改外边界条件以及克服平行流初始值的瞬态影响和推进步长的限制,保证了计算的数值稳定.用补全元素带状矩阵法求解块三对角矩阵,大大提高了速度.计算结果清楚地显示了三维扰动波的演化过程和非平行性对边界层稳定性的影响,特别是,观察到非平行性对三维扰动波的影响,有时会使其稳定性出现逆转的现象.还研究了逆压梯度的作用.算例的结果与其他结果符合良好.  相似文献

The paper considers two dynamical problems for an isotropic elastic media with spatially varying functional inhomogeneity, the propagation of surface anti-plane shear SH waves, and the stress deformation state of an anti-plane vibrating medium with a semi-infinite crack. These problems are considered for five different types of inhomogeneity. It is shown that the propagation of surface anti-plane shear waves is possible in all these cases. The existence conditions and the speed of propagation of surface waves have been found. In the section devoted to the investigation of the stress deformation state of a vibrating medium with a semi-infinite crack, Fourier transforms along with the Wiener Hopf technique are employed to solve the equations of motion. The asymptotic expression for the stress near the crack tip is analyzed, which leads to a closed form solution of the dynamic stress intensity factor (DSIF). Here also the problem is considered for five different functional inhomogeneities.
