The two parts of this paper consider combinatorial and geometric aspects of semibent functions. In the first part of this note we obtain 2-designs from semibent functions and we characterize their automorphism groups. The purpose of this article is to discuss some questions about parabolic Buekenhout unitals, considered as designs. In this article, we define a parabolic Buekenhout unital to be a unital in any two-dimensional translation plane obtained from the cone over any ovoid. In particular, we discuss resolutions of these designs, inversive plane residuals obtainable from these designs, and also some issues about disjoint Steiner systems. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We provide monotonicity formulas for solutions to the p-Laplace equation defined in the exterior of a convex domain. A number of analytic and geometric consequences are derived, including the classical Minkowski inequality as well as new characterizations of rotationally symmetric solutions and domains. A t-walk-regular graph is a graph for which the number of walks of given length between two vertices depends only on the distance between these two vertices, as long as this distance is at most t. Such graphs generalize distance-regular graphs and t-arc-transitive graphs. In this paper, we will focus on 1- and in particular 2-walk-regular graphs, and study analogues of certain results that are important for distance-regular graphs. We will generalize Delsarte?s clique bound to 1-walk-regular graphs, Godsil?s multiplicity bound and Terwilliger?s analysis of the local structure to 2-walk-regular graphs. We will show that 2-walk-regular graphs have a much richer combinatorial structure than 1-walk-regular graphs, for example by proving that there are finitely many non-geometric 2-walk-regular graphs with given smallest eigenvalue and given diameter (a geometric graph is the point graph of a special partial linear space); a result that is analogous to a result on distance-regular graphs. Such a result does not hold for 1-walk-regular graphs, as our construction methods will show.  相似文献

The classes of dynamically and geometrically tame functions meromorphic outside a small set are introduced. The Julia sets of geometrically tame functions are proven to be either geometrical circle (in ) or to have Hausdorff dimension strictly larger than 1. Vast classes of dynamically and geometrically tame functions are identified. In this article, we consider basic hypergeometric functions introduced by Heine. We study the mapping properties of certain ratios of basic hypergeometric functions having shifted parameters and show that they map the domains of analyticity onto domains convex in the direction of the imaginary axis. In order to investigate these mapping properties, some useful identities are obtained in terms of basic hypergeometric functions. In addition, we find conditions under which the basic hypergeometric functions are in a q-close-to-convex family.  相似文献

Stochastic robustness of control systems under random excitation motivates challenging developments in geometric approach to robustness. The assumption of normality is rarely met when analyzing real data and thus the use of classic parametric methods with violated assumptions can result in the inaccurate computation of p-values, effect sizes, and confidence intervals. Therefore, quite naturally, research on robust testing for normality has become a new trend. Robust testing for normality can have counterintuitive behavior, some of the problems have been introduced in Stehlík et al. [Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems 130 (2014 Stehlík, M., St?elec, L., and Thulin, M. 2014. On robust testing for normality in chemometrics. Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems 130:98108.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]): 98–108]. Here we concentrate on explanation of small-sample effects of normality testing and its robust properties, and embedding these questions into the more general question of testing for sphericity. We give geometric explanations for the critical tests. It turns out that the tests are robust against changes of the density generating function within the class of all continuous spherical sample distributions.  相似文献

We study the Dehn function of connected Lie groups. We show that this function is always exponential or polynomially bounded, according to the geometry of weights and of the 2-cohomology of their Lie algebras. Our work, which also addresses algebraic groups over local fields, uses and extends Abels’ theory of multiamalgams of graded Lie algebras, in order to provide workable presentations of these groups.  相似文献

We consider frames arising from the action of a unitary representation of a discrete countable abelian group. We show that the range of the analysis operator can be determined by computing which characters appear in the representation. This allows one to compare the ranges of two such frames, which is useful for determining similarity and also for multiplexing schemes. Our results then partially extend to Bessel sequences arising from the action of the group. We apply the results to sampling on bandlimited functions and to wavelet and Weyl-Heisenberg frames. This yields a sufficient condition for two sampling transforms to have orthogonal ranges, and two analysis operators for wavelet and Weyl-Heisenberg frames to have orthogonal ranges. The sufficient condition is easy to compute in terms of the periodization of the Fourier transform of the frame generators.
