We consider algebras over a field K defined by a presentation Kx1,…,xnR, where R consists of square-free relations of the form xixj=xkxl with every monomial xixj, ij, appearing in one of the relations. Certain sufficient conditions for the algebra to be noetherian and PI are determined. For this, we prove more generally that right noetherian algebras of finite Gelfand–Kirillov dimension defined by homogeneous semigroup relations satisfy a polynomial identity. The structure of the underlying monoid, defined by the same presentation, is described. This is used to derive information on the prime radical and minimal prime ideals. Some examples are described in detail. Earlier, Gateva-Ivanova and van den Bergh, and Jespers and Okni ski considered special classes of such algebras in the contexts of noetherian algebras, Gröbner bases, finitely generated solvable groups, semigroup algebras, and set theoretic solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation.  相似文献

We say that X=[xij]i,j=1nX=[x_{ij}]_{i,j=1}^n is symmetric centrosymmetric if x ij  = x ji and x n − j + 1,n − i + 1, 1 ≤ i,j ≤ n. In this paper we present an efficient algorithm for minimizing ||AXA T  − B|| where ||·|| is the Frobenius norm, A ∈ ℝ m×n , B ∈ ℝ m×m and X ∈ ℝ n×n is symmetric centrosymmetric with a specified central submatrix [x ij ] p ≤ i,j ≤ n − p . Our algorithm produces a suitable X such that AXA T  = B in finitely many steps, if such an X exists. We show that the algorithm is stable any case, and we give results of numerical experiments that support this claim.  相似文献

We consider the pseudo-Euclidean space (R n , g), with n ≥ 3 and g ij = δ ij ε i , ε i = ±1, where at least one ε i = 1 and nondiagonal tensors of the form T = Σ ij f ij dx i dx j such that, for ij, f ij (x i , x j ) depends on x i and x j . We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for such a tensor to admit a metric ḡ, conformal to g, that solves the Ricci tensor equation or the Einstein equation. Similar problems are considered for locally conformally flat manifolds. Examples are provided of complete metrics on R n , on the n-dimensional torus T n and on cylinders T k ×R n-k , that solve the Ricci equation or the Einstein equation. Assume F={f1,. . .,fn} is a family of nonnegative functions of n−1 nonnegative variables such that, for every matrix A of order n, |aii|>fi (moduli of off-diagonal entries in row i of A) for all i implies A nonsingular. We show that there is a positive vector x, depending only on F, such that for all A=(aij), and all i, fi≥∑j|aij|{xj}/xi. This improves a theorem of Ky Fan, and yields a generalization of a nonsingularity criterion of Gudkov. Dedicated to Charles A. We establish the existence of infinitely many polynomial progressions in the primes; more precisely, given any integer-valued polynomials P 1, …, P k  ∈ Z[m] in one unknown m with P 1(0) = … = P k (0) = 0, and given any ε > 0, we show that there are infinitely many integers x and m, with 1 \leqslant m \leqslant xe1 \leqslant m \leqslant x^\varepsilon, such that x + P 1(m), …, x + P k (m) are simultaneously prime. The arguments are based on those in [18], which treated the linear case P j  = (j − 1)m and ε = 1; the main new features are a localization of the shift parameters (and the attendant Gowers norm objects) to both coarse and fine scales, the use of PET induction to linearize the polynomial averaging, and some elementary estimates for the number of points over finite fields in certain algebraic varieties.  相似文献

In this paper we show that each divisor class of a finitely generated k-algebra R (k a field) contains a prime divisor if k is Hilbertian or if dim R≥ 2. For an integer k 1 and a geometric mesh (qi)−∞ with q ε (0, ∞), let Mi,k(x): = k[qi + k](· − x)+k − 1, Ni,k(x): = (qi + kqiMi,k(x)/k, and let Ak(q) be the Gram matrix (∝Mi,kNj,k)i,jεz. It is known that Ak(q)−1 is bounded independently of q. In this paper it is shown that Ak(q)−1 is strictly decreasing for q in [1, ∞). We develop some techniques relative to localization at prime ideals and give structural results on the completion of finitely generatedR-modules, describing it as the product of classical completions on local noetherian rings. Given a poset P = (X, ≺ ), a partition X 1, ..., X k of X is called an ordered partition of P if, whenever x ∈ X i and y ∈ X j with x ≺ y, then i ≤ j. In this paper, we show that for every poset P = (X, ≺ ) and every integer k ≥ 2, there exists an ordered partition of P into k parts such that the total number of comparable pairs within the parts is at most (m − 1)/k, where m ≥ 1 is the total number of edges in the comparability graph of P. We show that this bound is best possible for k = 2, but we give an improved bound, , for k ≥ 3, where c(k) is a constant depending only on k. We also show that, given a poset P = (X, ≺ ) and an integer 2 ≤ k ≤ |X|, we can find an ordered partition of P into k parts that minimises the total number of comparable pairs within parts in time polynomial in the size of P. For a natural number k, define an oriented site percolation on ℤ2 as follows. Let x i , y j be independent random variables with values uniformly distributed in {1, …, k}. Declare a site (i, j) ∈ℤ2 closed if x i = y j , and open otherwise. Peter Winkler conjectured some years ago that if k≥ 4 then with positive probability there is an infinite oriented path starting at the origin, all of whose sites are open. I.e., there is an infinite path P = (i 0, j 0)(i 1, j 1) · · · such that 0 = i 0i 1≤· · ·, 0 = j 0j 1≤· · ·, and each site (i n , j n ) is open. Rather surprisingly, this conjecture is still open: in fact, it is not known whether the conjecture holds for any value of k. In this note, we shall prove the weaker result that the corresponding assertion holds in the unoriented case: if k≤ 4 then the probability that there is an infinite path that starts at the origin and consists only of open sites is positive. Furthermore, we shall show that our method can be applied to a wide variety of distributions of (x i ) and (y j ). Independently, Peter Winkler [14] has recently proved a variety of similar assertions by different methods. We study skew inverse power series extensions R[[y − 1; τ, δ]], where R is a noetherian ring equipped with an automorphism τ and a τ-derivation δ. We find that these extensions share many of the well known features of commutative power series rings. As an application of our analysis, we see that the iterated skew inverse power series rings corresponding to nth Weyl algebras are complete, local, noetherian, Auslander regular domains whose right Krull dimension, global dimension, and classical Krull dimension are all equal to 2n.  相似文献

In this note we continue to study zero divisors in power series rings and polynomial rings over general noncommutative rings. We first construct Armendariz rings which are not power-serieswise Armendariz, and find various properties of (power-serieswise) Armendariz rings. We show that for a semiprime power-serieswise Armendariz (so reduced) ring R with a.c.c. on annihilator ideals, R[[x]] (the power series ring with an indeterminate x over R) has finitely many minimal prime ideals, say B 1,…,B m , such that B 1B m  = 0 and B i  = A i [[x]] for some minimal prime ideal A i of R for all i, where A 1,…,A m are all minimal prime ideals of R. We also prove that the power-serieswise Armendarizness is preserved by the polynomial ring extension as the Armendarizness, and construct various types of (power-serieswise) Armendariz rings.  相似文献
