The Cu(II) aggregate in [Cu(9)(cpida)(6)(MeOH)(6)].6(MeOH)[H(3)cpida = 2-(carboxyphenyl)iminodiacetic acid] is made up of two weakly ferromagnetically coupled carboxylate-bridged Cu(4) units that are antiferromagnetically linked through a central Cu(II) to give a Cu(9) core with an S= 7/2 spin ground state.  相似文献

Ligand modification transforms a polyoxometalate-anchored cubane-type [Mn(III)(3)Mn(IV)O(4)] core into a centrosymmetric [Mn(III)(6)Mn(IV)O(8)] di-cubane cluster, and restores the slow magnetization relaxation characteristics typical for [Mn(4)O(4)] cubane-based single-molecule magnets.  相似文献

The reaction of [NEt(4)](2)[Fe(2)OCl(6)] with sodium benzoate, 4,6-dimethyl-2-hydroxypyrimidine (dmhp), and 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)ethane (H(3)thme) gives the undecametallic compound [NEt(4)][Fe(11)O(4)(O(2)CPh)(10)(thme)(4)(dmhp)(2)Cl(4)]. X-ray crystallography, EPR spectroscopy, bulk magnetic susceptibility studies, and low-temperature single-crystal magnetic measurements were used to characterize the compound. Magnetic measurements indicate an S = (11)/(2) ground state with the parameters g = 2.03 and D = -0.46 cm(-)(1). Single-crystal magnetic studies show hysteresis of molecular origin at T < 1.2 K with fast quantum mechanical tunneling at zero field.  相似文献

The dimetallic endohedral heterofullerene (EHF), Gd(2)@C(79)N, was prepared and isolated in a relatively high yield when compared with the earlier reported heterofullerene, Y(2)@C(79)N. Computational (DFT), chemical reactivity, Raman, and electrochemical studies all suggest that the purified Gd(2)@C(79)N, with the heterofullerene cage, (C(79)N)(5-) has comparable stability with other better known isoelectronic metallofullerene (C(80))(6-) cage species (e.g., Gd(3)N@C(80)). These results describe an exceptionally stable paramagnetic molecule with low chemical reactivity with the unpaired electron spin density localized on the internal diatomic gadolinium cluster and not on the heterofullerene cage. EPR studies confirm that the spin state of Gd(2)@C(79)N is characterized by a half-integer spin quantum number of S = 15/2. The spin (S = ?) on the N atom of the fullerene cage and two octet spins (S = 7/2) of two encapsulated gadoliniums are coupled with each other in a ferromagnetic manner with a small zero-field splitting parameter D. Because the central line of Gd(2)@C(79)N is due to the Kramer's doublet with a half-integer spin quantum number of S = 15/2, this relatively sharp line is prominent and the anisotropic nature of the line is weak. Interestingly, in contrast with most Gd(3+) ion environments, the central EPR line (g = 1.978) is observable even at room temperature in a toluene solution. Finally, we report the first EHF derivative, a diethyl bromomalonate monoadduct of Gd(2)@C(79)N, which was prepared and isolated via a modified Bingel-Hirsch reaction.  相似文献

The numerical simulations of the magnetic properties of extended three-dimensional networks containing M(II) ions with an S = 5/2 ground-state spin have been carried out within the framework of the isotropic Heisenberg model. Analytical expressions fitting the numerical simulations for the primitive cubic, diamond, together with (10-3) cubic networks have all been derived. With these empirical formulas in hands, we can now extract the interaction between the magnetic ions from the experimental data for these networks. In the case of the primitive cubic network, these expressions are directly compared with those from the high-temperature expansions of the partition function. A fit of the experimental data for three complexes, namely [(N(CH(3))(4)][Mn(N(3))] 1, [Mn(CN(4))](n)() 2, and [Fe(II)(bipy)(3)][Mn(II)(2)(ox)(3)] 3, has been carried out. The best fits were those obtained using the following parameters, J = -3.5 cm(-)(1), g = 2.01 (1); J = -8.3 cm(-)(1), g = 1.95 (2); and J = -2.0 cm(-)(1), g = 1.95 (3).  相似文献

The heterometallic Mn(II)(4)Ni(II)(2) title compound has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The compound consists of a Ni-Mn-Ni linear moiety, [[Ni-(mu-NO)(3)](2)-Mn], linked by oximate bridges and three Mn(II) hfac terminal units attached by oximate oxygens in a di-mu-oxo fashion, forming a novel heterometallic cluster: Mn[Mn(hfac)(2)](3)[Ni(pao)(3)](2) (1). Magnetic measurements reveal the antiferromagnetic nature of the oximate pathway between Mn(II) and Ni(II) metal ions, which imposes an unusual high-spin ground state (S = 8) for 1.  相似文献

Reaction of lithium tetrachloromanganate(II) with N-n-butyldiethanolamine H2L3 (3) in the presence of LiH leads to the formation of wheel-shaped, mixed-valent heptanuclear, neutral complex {MnII subset[MnII2MnIII4Cl6(L3)6]} (4). The manganese wheel crystallizes in the triclinic space group P as 4.2CHCl3 or 4.3THF when either diethyl ether or n-pentane was allowed to diffuse into solutions of 4 in chloroform or tetrahydrofuran. The oxidation states of each manganese ion in 4.2CHCl3 or 4.3THF were assigned on the basis of detailed symmetry, bond length, and charge considerations, as well as by the Jahn-Teller axial elongation observed for the manganese(III) ions, and were further supported by cyclic voltammetry. The analysis of the SQUID magnetic susceptibility data for complex 4.2CHCl3 showed that the intramolecular magnetic coupling of the manganese(II,III) ions is dominated by ferromagnetic exchange interactions. This results in an S = 27/2 ground-state multiplet at low magnetic field. At fields higher than 0.68 T, the energetically lowest state is given by the mS = 31/2 component of the S = 31/2 multiplet due to the Zeeman effect. The ligand-field-splitting parameters were determined by anisotropy SQUID measurements on single crystalline samples along the crystallographic x, y, and z axes (D = -0.055 K, E = 6.6 mK) and by high-frequency electron spin resonance measurements on a polycrystalline powder of 4.2CHCl3 (D = -0.068 K, E = 9.7 mK). The resulting barrier height for magnetization reversal amounts to U approximately 10 K. Finally, 2DEG Hall magnetization measurements revealed that 4.2CHCl3 shows single-molecule magnet behavior up to the blocking temperature of about 0.6 K with closely spaced steps in the hysteresis because of the quantum tunneling of the magnetization.  相似文献

Spin-echo, double-resonance (SEDOR) dipolar recoupling experiments are illustrated on an I = 1/2, S = 3/2 spin system for static and spinning samples. An (15)N-(23)Na spin system is used to show that the simple pulse sequence is very effective in causing (15)N dipolar dephasing using either a (23)Na pi/2 recoupling pulse or a long radio-frequency (r.f.) recoupling pulse.  相似文献

The trinuclear Cu(II) complex [(talen)Cu(II)(3)] (1) using the new triplesalen ligand H(6)talen has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The three Cu(II) ions are bridged in a m-phenylene linkage by the phloroglucinol backbone of the ligand. This m-phenylene bridging mode results in ferromagnetic couplings with an S(t) = (3)/(2) spin ground state, which has been analyzed by means of EPR spectroscopy and DFT calculations. The EPR spectrum exhibits an unprecedented pattern of 10 hyperfine lines due to the coupling of three Cu(II) ions (I = (3)/(2)). Resonances around g = 4 in both perpendicular and parallel mode EPR spectra demonstrate a zero-field splitting of D approximately 74 x 10(-4) cm(-1) arising from anisotropic/antisymmetric exchange interactions. The DFT calculations show an alteration in the sign of the spin densities of the central benzene ring corroborating the spin-polarization mechanism as origin for the ferromagnetic coupling.  相似文献

The synthesis and structural, spectroscopic, and magnetic characterization of a Mn25 coordination cluster with a large ground-state spin of S = 51/2 are reported. Reaction of MnCl2 with pyridine-2,6-dimethanol (pdmH2) and NaN3 in MeCN/MeOH gives the mixed valence cluster [Mn25O18(OH)2(N3)12(pdm)6(pdmH)6]Cl2 (1; 6Mn(II), 18Mn(III), Mn(IV)), which has a barrel-like cage structure. Variable temperature direct current (dc) magnetic susceptibility data were collected in the 1.8-300 K temperature range in a 0.1 T field. Variable-temperature and -field magnetization (M) data were collected in the 1.8-4.0 K and 0.1-7 T ranges and fit by matrix diagonalization assuming only the ground state is occupied at these temperatures. The fit parameters were S = 51/2, D = -0.020(2) cm(-1), and g = 1.87(3), where D is the axial zero-field splitting parameter. Alternating current (ac) susceptibility measurements in the 1.8-8.0 K range and a 3.5 G ac field oscillating at frequencies in the 50-1500 Hz range revealed a frequency-dependent out-of-phase (chi(M)') signal below 3 K, suggesting 1 to be a single-molecule magnet (SMM). This was confirmed by magnetization vs dc field sweeps, which exhibited hysteresis loops but with no clear steps characteristic of resonant quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM). However, magnetization decay data below 1 K were collected and used to construct an Arrhenius plot, and the fit of the thermally activated region above approximately 0.5 K gave U(eff)/k = 12 K, where U(eff) is the effective relaxation barrier. The g value and the magnitude and sign of the D value were independently confirmed by detailed high-frequency electron paramagnetic resonance (HFEPR) spectroscopy on polycrystalline samples. The combined studies confirm both the high ground-state spin S = 51/2 of complex 1 and that it is a SMM that, in addition, exhibits QTM.  相似文献

The synthesis, structures and magnetic properties of two hexanuclear Mn(6) clusters are reported: Mn(6)(mu(4)-O)(2)(dapdo)(2)(dapdoH)(4)(mu(2)-OH)(2)](ClO(4))(2).6MeCN (.6MeCN) and [Mn(6)(mu(4)-O)(2)(dapdo)(2)(dapdoH)(4)(mu(2)-OCH(3))(2)](ClO(4))(2).2Et(2)O (.2Et(2)O) [dapdo(2-) is the dianion of 2,6-diacetylpyridine dioxime and dapdoH(-) is the monoanion of the aforesaid dioxime ligand]. Both complexes are mixed-valent with two Mn(II) and four Mn(III) atoms disposed in an edge-sharing bitetrahedral core. Both complexes and display the same [Mn(III)(4)Mn(II)(2)(mu(4)-O)(2)(mu(2)-OR)(2)](10+) core in which R = H for and R = Me for . The [Mn(III)(4)Mn(II)(2)] core is rather uncommon compared to the reported [Mn(III)(2)Mn(II)(4)] core in the literature. DC magnetic susceptibility measurements on and reveal the presence of competing exchange interactions resulting in an S(t) = 5 ground spin state. The magnetic behavior of the compounds indicates antiferromagnetic coupling between the manganese(iii) centers, whereas the coupling between the manganese(iii) and manganese(ii) is weakly antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic depending on the bridging environments. Finally the interaction between the manganese(ii) centers from the two fused tetrahedra is weakly ferromagnetic in nature stabilizing S(t) = 5 ground spin state in compounds and .  相似文献
