Neutron diffraction measurements of the Nd5Ge3 intermetallic compound with a hexagonal structure (space group P63/mcm) have been performed at temperatures of ~10 and 293 K. The basis functions of irreducible representations of the space group D 6h 3 (P63/mcm), which are calculated as a result of the symmetry analysis of possible magnetic structures with the wave vector k = μb 1, are used to facilitate the search for a real model of the magnetic structure of the compound.  相似文献

Dilute (La1–x Nd x )Sn3 alloys with 0.01<x<0.15 are characterized by determination of the superconducting transition temperatureT c as well as low temperature measurements of the specific heat and inelastic neutron scattering. As an important result of these experiments we found that the Nd impurities in LaSn3 exist as stable trivalent ions, in contrast to all other light rare earths. In addition, specific heat and neutron scattering results revealed the scheme of crystal field (CF) levels of Nd3+.Using this level scheme, the concentration dependence of the superconducting transition temperature,T c (x), could be quantitatively fitted up tox9 at % by the theory of Keller and Fulde [J. Low. Temp. Phys.4, 289 (1971)]. From the relatively high initial slope ofT c (x) we inferred that — besides isotropic spin exchange — other pair-breaking processes are important.In contrast toT c (x), the reduced specific heat jumpsC/C 0 as a function ofT c /T c0 (whereT c0 andC 0 refer to LaSn3) were found to lie considerably below the theoretical curve for isolated Nd3+ ions. This is explained by Nd—Nd interactions resulting in a mean Zeeman splitting (<k B T c ) of the CF ground state, which could be directly observed in the form of broadened Schottky humps in the normal state specific heats.  相似文献

In disordered itinerant magnets with arbitrary symmetry of the order parameter, the conventional quantum critical point between the ordered phase and the paramagnetic Fermi liquid (PMFL) is destroyed due to the formation of an intervening cluster glass (CG) phase. In this Letter, we discuss the quantum critical behavior at the CG-PMFL transition for systems with continuous symmetry. We show that fluctuations due to quantum Griffiths anomalies induce a first-order transition from the PMFL at T = 0, while at higher temperatures a conventional continuous transition is restored. This behavior is a generic consequence of enhanced non-Ohmic dissipation caused by a broad distribution of energy scales within any quantum Griffiths phase in itinerant systems.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the spontaneous polarization in the Pb5Ge3O11 lead germanate (PGO) is experimentally investigated using optical, magnetic resonance, and conventional electrical measurements. The deviations from the temperature dependence typical of second-order phase transitions at temperatures below 420 K are explained in terms of incomplete polarization switching and polarization induced by a residual depolarization field. The low-temperature anomalies are interpreted without consideration of additional structural transformations. The internal bias field is determined from the experimental temperature dependence of the perfect polarization of PGO single crystals in an electric field.  相似文献

The spin glass transition of a quasi-1D organic-based magnet ([MnTPP][TCNE]) is explored using both ac and dc measurements. A scaling analysis of the ac susceptibility shows a spin glass transition near 4 K, with a viscous decay of the thermoremanent magnetization recorded above 4 K. We propose an extension to a fractal cluster model of spin glasses that determines the dimension of the spin clusters (D) ranging from approximately 0.8 to over 1.5 as the glass transition is approached. Long-range dipolar interactions are suggested as the origin of this low value for the apparent lower critical dimension.  相似文献

Room temperature and low temperature (120 °C) laser-assisted glass frit bonding of soda-lime glass substrates are accomplished in this work. The locally laser melted bonding showed hermeticity with helium leak rate of <5×10−8 atm cm3 s−1, maintaining its leak rate even after standard climatic cycle tests. Small size devices were bonded at room temperature while larger areas were sealed at the process temperature of 120 °C. The sealing parameters were optimized through response surface methodology that makes the process capable for further development regardless of device size.  相似文献

The real part of the time-dependent ac susceptibility of the short-range Ising spin glass in a transverse field has been investigated at very low temperatures. We have used the quantum linear response theory and domain coarsening ideas of quantum droplet scaling theory. It is found that after a temperature quench to a temperature T 1 (lower than the spin glass transition temperature T g ) the ac susceptibility decreases with time approximately in a logarithmic way as the system tends to the equilibrium. It is shown that the transverse field of tunneling has unessential effect on the nonequilibrium dynamical properties of the magnetic droplet system. Photoluminescence and excitation spectra are reported at 2 K for the range of bulk Se1?yGey (y ≤ 0.4) glasses. The temperature dependence of the luminescence intensity is measured from 2 K to 150 K together with the luminescence decay times at 2 K. A photo-induced absorption is observed at 2 K. The results are interpreted within the framework of the Mott-Davis-Street theory.  相似文献

An ensemble of magnetic clusters is approximated by an ensemble of two-singlet systems: at each lattice site l there are two levels, ?l,1 and ?l,2. ?l,1 is associated with spin zero and ?l,2 with spin 1 (or vice versa). Δ = ?l,2??l,1 originates from some intra-cluster interaction and some effective magnetic field; for the both some distribution is assumed. An exchange interaction between different clusters is also taken into account. The excitation spectrum of this ensemble as function of Hext is calculated and applied to discuss the response of the system to some external magnetic field Hext in the low-temperature region. Typical instabilities of magnetization as function of Hext are obtained. Finally, possible applications of our results to spin-glass systems are discussed.  相似文献

The superconducting transition temperature (Tc) of amorphous Nb3Ge was studied under both hydrostatic and quasihydrostatic pressure to 3.5 and 13 GPa, respectively. Whereas hydrostatic pressure causes Tc to initially decrease, Tc is found to increase under higher quasihydrostatic pressures. Tc(p) was also studied on an A-15 crystalline Nb3Ge sample obtained from the amorphous sample by annealing.  相似文献

Low-temperature (<300 °C) molecular beam epitaxy of Fe3Si/Ge was investigated. By optimizing growth conditions, Fe3Si layers with a flat interface and good crystallinity were epitaxially grown on Ge(1 1 1) substrates. In addition, double heteroepitaxial growth of Fe3Si/Ge on high quality Fe3Si/Ge substrates was investigated. Reflective high-energy electron diffraction measurements suggested Fe3Si and Ge layers were epitaxially grown on Fe3Si/Ge substrates. However, transmission electron microscopy measurements indicated stacking faults formed in the intermediate Ge and top Fe3Si layers. Improved crystallinity of the intermediate Ge layer is essential to realize high quality [Fe3Si/Ge]2 multi-layered structures.  相似文献

Absorption spectra of the Nd3+ ion in the Nd2BaCuO5 and Nd2BaZnO5 ternary oxides were measured within broad spectral (1500–17000 cm?1) and temperature (4.2–200 K) intervals. The positions and widths of the Stark sublevels were determined. The exchange splittings of the Nd3+ Kramers doublets in several multiplets were found for the magnetically ordered state of Nd2BaCuO5 (T N =7.5 K).  相似文献

A new structural phase transition has been observed at low temperature for the one-third of a monolayer (alpha phase) of Pb on Ge(111) using a variable-temperature scanning tunneling microscope. The well-known (sqrt[3] x sqrt[3])R30 degrees to (3 x 3) transition is accompanied by a new structural phase transition from (3 x 3) to a disordered phase at approximately 76 K. The formation of this "glasslike" phase is a consequence of competing interactions on different length scales.  相似文献
